Why did my NEF files stop opening with the raw dialog?

I have a D3000 and PSE9 and at one time my NEF files would open with the raw dialog box. Now they only open in the normal editor. How do I get my raw dialog back?

What is the screen resolution you have set?
On most windows systems you can right click on the desktop and choose Screen Resolution or Properties>Settings to find out the the screen resolution.

NEF files not opening in camera raw in CS5

I have lightroom 3.2 and photoshp CS5 extended
I am running if 64 bit in Windows 7
If I try to open a .nef file from lightroom usinf crtl-e it does not open in the raw editor. it goes directly to what I would call the jpeg editor.
Now can I get my .nef files to open from lightroom into CS5?
If I open the .nef file from bridge it opens in camera raw just fine, or if I open it from windows explorer it opens in camera raw.
Help! this is very frustrating!!

If LR is 3.2 and ACR is 6.2 (or they are otherwise synchronized to an older or newer version) then LR will tell PS to use ACR behind the scenes to render the file on the way into PS w/o having to go to an intermediate file and w/o seeing the ACR interface. LR does not render anything, ACR does, but you don't see it, except maybe a progress bar if it takes too long.
The adjustments in LR are the same as ACR so there's no need to show the ACR interface, right? When LR and PS are being used together, LR is meant to be the keeper of the adjustments in its database that ACR knows nothing about. If the ACR UI was visible and you tweaked something in ACR after coming out of LR it wouldn't get stored back into the LR database unless you synchronized the folder, later, and things would be a confusing mess.
Alternatively, if the LR and ACR version's aren't synced up, then LR may indeed render a TIF or PSD for PS to open, but again w/o ACR doing anything. So in no circumstance of LR-PS integration should you see the ACR plug-in when you tell LR to open into PS.

How to set file to open with the latest entry?

My "sent" file always opened at the latest entry showing the last email I'd sent but, for some unknown reason, it now loads at the top of the file showing the earliest entry. How do I get it to go back to showing the latest entries, the bottom of the file, rather than the top of the file?

Click on the header labeled DATE to sort on that column. Click the same header a second time to reverse the sort.

.NEF files not opening with ACR in CS6

I run CS6 on my iMac with OS 10.6.8 with the ACR 7.1 update downloaded and installed. When browsing my Nikon D600 images in Bridge, thumbnails for my .NEF files load initially, but some immediately change to the stock .NEF icon. None of my .NEF files open in PS and instead I get the popup telling me I need to get the latest version of ACR. No ACR update appears under Help>Updates>Photoshop. When I do all these same actions on my MacBook Air running CS6 with ACR 7.1 on OS 10.9.4, everything works fine, all thumbnails load properly in Bridge and all .NEF files open in ACR.
-Why does it work on my laptop setup and not my desktop?
-Is there a newer version of ACR than 7.1 or is it bundled in with the newer DNG updates? I also installed DNG update 8.3 (the newest that my OS will support) and there was no change.

You need at least ACR 7.3 for the D600. Adobe stopped providing downloads after 7.1. They want you to use Help > Updates.
I'm not a Mac person, but I think OSX 10.6 might not support the latest (8.6) version of ACR. In which case, you could try this link:

Why do some pdf files not open with Adobe Reader X, most open OK?

On my wife's 64 bit WIN 7 computer, a some pdf files will not open, but most open OK.
She uses Acrobat Reader X and MS Office 2010.
The same problem files open with no problem on my very similar computer.
Is the problem with some setting on the Acrobat Reader or something else?
Sometimes there is this error message when the problem files do not open:
Find Click2run64.msi file to install MS Office Click to Run.
But MS Office Click to Run is already installed on her PC. It is not on my PC.

The latest Reader is 11.0.01, not 11.0.1. It is named Adobe Reader XI.
I did uninstall the Reader X and installed this latest one.
But it did not solve the problem, still could not open the problem pdf's .
I did find the problem was caused by the MS Office Click to Run error referred to in my original message. As far as I know we have no use for that on my wife's computer. Not sure how it got there. I uninstalled it and so far the problem pdf's open fine now. Problem solved.

My iTunes just randomly stopped opening on my computer at work that is running Windows 7. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both iTunes and Quicktime and it is still not working. Please help...this is my music source at work.

Reverting files to open with the original applications

I recently changed the default opening application for a few files that originally opened in Preview (certain JPGS) to open in Photoshop. I selected "use this application to open all documents like this". So of course, all JPGS now open in PS. I'm definitely not happy I did this, because now every time I pull a photo off a web page or take a screen shot (my default screen shot settings are JPGS), they will now open in Photoshop which is not what I want. I would like to have them open in Preview the way they used to. But, if I now select "use this application (Preview) to open all documents like this" for these files, all my Photoshop JPG documents will open with Preview. So, my question is, is there any way to revert things back to the way they used to be - screen shots and web photos automatically opening with Preview and all my Photoshop JPGS still opening in Photoshop?

Making sure .vi files are open with the right version

Hello everyone.
Here's my situation: I need to have LabVIEW 2010 and LabVIEW 2011 installed in my computer, as well as VI's of each of these versions. Is there any way to have Windows open the .vi file with the corresponding version of LabVIEW? I know LabVIEW 2011 is able of opening VI's from both versions but what I want is to prevent the scenario in which someone opens this file and saves the .vi in the 2011 version by accident, thus preventing me from opening in other computers where only LabVIEW 2010 is installed.
Any suggestions?

This seems like a good idea speksih, if one could only retrieve the file version with the same script and then probably hide the actual .vi file so it's not opened by accident....it could work.

We would like to maintain our CS3 window "setup" when we reboot our PC. We use only a few preferences :: actions /history/layers ,,,but upon reopening CS >> there are nearly 10 windows that open on the right, with icons > probably just factory settings .... but, is there a way to have CS3 open with just the our favs, on the palettes on the right side ....??

I CS3, CS5 has work spaces setup Photoshop like the way you want it to look and save a workspace. If you close down Photoshop when your in your workspace if should start up in your workspace. You can also switch between yours and the one CS5 ships with. You may even be able to copy your CS3 workspaces to your CS5 installation.

If it's apps that you've downloaded from the App Store that you're having the problem with, and the Apple built-in apps are ok, then try downloading any free app from the store (as that appears to reset something) and then re-try them - the free app can then be deleted.

Why did my call forwarding stopped working with 8.2 update on my 5s?

I have tried a hard re-boot twice. I forwarded the iPhone to my home when I'm there because my LAN line gets better reception. Now that I need to leave the house I can't un-forward it. I put in the number but it keeps going back to grey and won't work. Help????

In case anyone else experiences this, I found the problem...
Apparently I had some corrupted fonts. I had installed some older Chinese language fonts that complained about errors, which I overrode.
Font Book was unresponsive, but I was able to move all my user fonts out by going to
~/Library/Fonts
I moved them all to a new folder, and the problems went away.
Now I can move them back one by one to identify/eliminate the culprit(s).

Why did my free trial stop working before the expiration?

I downloaded and installed a free trial of InDesign from the Adobe website a two days ago. After one day of use, the "continue trial" button is no longer available and I can not open the program.
I am running it on:

The attachment is an .xls excel 97-2003 spreadsheet. I viewed the file in the email and did not edit it with any software. I can forward the file to anyone that is may want to check it out to see if they can help me.
