Why did PackageMaker Turned my Application into a folder?

I used PackageMaker to create a package to install Font Reserve. After the package was made and installed I noticed that all went into the correct places but my font reserve application is now a folder. Any help would be appreciated.

Yea the Dev. Tools are on the MAC OS X CD.....or you can download it from the Apple Developer Website to get the latest. Can try it and see what happens like I said it fixed my issues, but to my knowledge from what I read around the net you shouldn't need to install Developer Tools to use Package Maker, but again thats what fixed my issue.
One thing I never tried though was using the PackageMaker off the ARD CD. I have always downloaded the latest Dev. Tools and used the Package Maker that came with it, but it sounds as if that the version you are using is the version off the ARD CD. Thats my best guess.....install the Dev. Tools and try that out.

1) wake-up form sleep takes up to a minute

3) Using Outlook for Mac app - similar issue as 2 when trying to send mail, add attachments or do anything

Why did my iPod touch go into recovery mode when updating to iOS 8.1 over the air???

I was updating my iPod touch (5th Generation) to iOS 8.1 over the air update option and my iPod goes into recovery mode...I hadn't backed it up in like 2 weeks and a lot happened in two weeks with photos and everything. I have yet to see if I get any of them back but why did this happen? I thought apples over the air update was reasonably easy and secure...?

Hey Haywards, There has been reported issues with updating iPods to iOS 8, one of which is updating with the cloud or through Wi-Fi. Your seeing one of the problems. After you get things cleared up with the DFU recovery, connect your iPod with your computer via the cable and run the update through iTunes. You should be OK. Or if still an option, don't do the update at all! Many have reported several issues with iOS 8 on iPods. Slow or laggy operation, missing apps, missing music, camera roll not working or missing and huge battery drain and charging issues, just to mention a few. You may want to hold off from updating if possible. Things to think about. Good luck, Cheers.

Finding Duplicates - why did they block entry to the iphoto folder?

Why is there no duplicate search like there is in itunes? Why did they block the iphoto folder so I can't use other programs to find dupes? Why do I have to have another set of pictures every time I update to the next ilife?
I just want to have a quick search and delete to get rid of dupe files in iphoto without going through one at a time. Anyone have any ideas in '08?

Because there are many reasons why users might want duplicates. But if you have a duplicate issue try using Duplicate Annihilator.

What is OBEXAgent and why is it turning my MacBook into a furnace?

Hey guys, first post here so bear with me
Lately my MacBook Pro (2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) has ben running reeeaally hot. I can't even touch it on the bottom or behind the keyboard. Going to investigate, I went into my Actvity Monitor and OBEXAgent sits at the top, eating up > 99% of my CPU usage. Not only that, it says that the process isn't even responding (Screenshot of my Activity Monitor below with detail on OBEXAgent. Note on the top right of my menu bar, my internal temperature is sitting at 72C, 161F, which is low for me)
Can someone give me a quick rundown (layman's terms, please) of what OBEXAgent is, why it's taking up so much of my processor usage, why it might not be responding and if I even need it and most importantly, how I can remedy this situation.

OBEXAgent is a part of the Mac OS that handles Bluetooth file exchange. When it gets hung for some reason, as some other processes sometimes can (printing, in particular), it can hog CPU cycles and push temperatures way up while accomplishing nothing at all. Open Activity Monitor, select OBEXagent, and use the STOP button to put OBEXagent out of its (and your) misery. Post back if the problem recurs, but I suspect this is a one-time glitch that will never be explained or repeated.

Why did I lose my applications when updating to new version?

I have just updated to the latest version for my iPad. Lost all applications. In fact it has taken my iPhone4 applications and put it on the iPad. WHY????????????? Please help. Thanks

You can sync the apps back to the iPad if they are in iTunes on your computer.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes - If you auto sync, let the process complete.
Click on the iPad name on the left sidebar of iTunes under the devices heading.
Click on the Apps Tab at the top of the iTunes window on the right.
Click on each app that you want to sync to the device - uncheck each app that you do not want to sync
Click on the Sync Apps Heading
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of the iTunes window.
iTunes will now remember the iPad's configuration for the next time that you sync. Do the same thing with your iPhone - iTunes will remember that configuration as well.
You can always download apps again at no charge (if all else fails) as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought them with.

The only option is to wipe the device clean and restore it to factory settings. Hope you have a backup.
Follow the instructions in iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137 to restore the device to factory settings.
Once you have setup the device as a new one, you can then sync it back with your iTunes account and all your music, apps, contacts and any other content sync'ed with iTunes will be loaded on the device. Any content that is stored only on the device and not sync'ed with iTunes, like app logins or data, will be lost during this process. Be forewarned that this is a long process and can take a couple of hours or more to complete. This can be painful, but it is necessarily so to prevent users from working around the security settings. After the restore is complete, you can setup a new Restrictions passcode. Make a note of the passcode to avoid this situation in future.

Why does firefox turn word documents into firefox documents??

wen i want to print a word document attached in an email I've received firefox won't open it and when i try to save the document to print it later instead firefox wants to save the document as a firefox document. If i change the format to word document and then save it, it can't be opened at all...

You may be having an usability problem with the email service you are using. Are you sure you are not seeing the word document in an online document viewer? Firefox doesn't read word documents, so it's not possible for Firefox to save documents as a word document.
Unless you are using an add-on for such effect, in which case you need to contact its author for support.

Why did 10.4 Update append a Media folder location ?

On both my Mac and my PC, the original media folder no longer points to:
DRIVEID\My Music\iTunes
But instead now points to:
DRIVEID\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media
Which mean that none of my iPhone apps can be found !!
I haven't tried to sync yet, but I'm assuming my movies and my music are likewise unavailable.

Once you get your library reconnected to the media you might want to "normalise" it to keep things simple in future.
There are generally two ways to use iTunes with an external/alternate/network drive, one is to relocate the media folder to a folder on the alternate drive, leaving the library files in the original location, the other (not advertised in support docs) is to move the entire iTunes folder to the new location and connect iTunes to the library there. You chose the first method, which works fine until you forget to turn on the external drive before you start iTunes, the drive letter changes unexpectedly, or a dodgy iTunes update comes along and makes a mess of things.
If your external media folder is called \iTunes\iTunes Media then process is relatively easy. Copy the contents of the iTunes folder on your internal disk into \iTunes on the external, then hold down shift as you start iTunes and choose the iTunes library on your external drive.
If your alternate media folder has a different path or name then a few more steps are involved.
Upgrade to the new iTunes Media Organization. Use File > Library > Organize Library... Reorganize files in the folder <Media Folder>. If the option is greyed out then this has already been done.
Consolidate your library with File > Library > Organize Library... Consolidate files just in case there are any files outside of the designated iTunes Media folder.
Copy the contents of your current iTunes library folder into the parent folder of the media folder. (In your case ..\My Music)
Connect iTunes to the library on the external with the shift-start-iTunes method.
Close iTunes and rename the media folder as iTunes Media, then start iTunes, check a track or two, then close it again. (Skip this stage if the folder already has the correct name) (In your case ..\My Music\iTunes becomes ..\My Music\iTunes Media)
Rename/move the parent folder as \iTunes (or create a new folder at \iTunes and move the iTunes library files, Album Artwork & iTunes Media folders into it) then reconnect iTunes to the library with the shift-start-iTunes method. (In your case ..\My Music becomes ..\iTunes)
The library is now in a portable layout. You can move the iTunes folder en masse to any new location, change the drive letter etc. and simply reconenct to the library. It will "just work". You can also backup the entire iTunes folder to another drive, network share etc. and that backup library will work too. I find SyncToy 2.1 ideal for this

Why isn't junk mail going into its folder

I get a lot of spam and a few weeks ago, it went into my junk folder which pulled if off my iphone and ipad. Now the junk mail just stays in the inbox.
What is causing that or this?

Turning application into portlet: inter-portlet comunications

Hi there,
I am turning my application into a portlet. I need to add some navigation parameters to the portlet to communicate with the page on which it resides and with other portlets on that page.
Selecting Create navigation parameters for events during the creation of Create Portlet Entry I can create navigation parameters for any events exposed by the page.
I didn't get how to add these events to the page. How can I achieve that?
I am working with Jdev 11g.

Why did map apps downgrade after upgrading iOS 6?

I expect upgrading OS means every apps got improvement. But why did my google map downgrade into apple map? Does anyone know the reason?

When viewing a location, Google Maps lets you activate a variety of add-on layers offering information like traffic, terrain, transit lines, satellite images, and bicycle routes, among others. There's even a Wikipedia layer that plots out entries related to your location, which is great for curious travelers. If you've made any custom maps on your Google account, you can overlay those as well.
If the add-on layers aren't enough, Google Maps lets you zoom into satellite photos to get a close look at buildings and street details. You can even activate street view to get a ground-level look at areas that have coverage. Unfortunately, though, the Google Maps app does not come with 3D flyover images baked in. To get these highly detailed images, you'll have to download it's sister app Google Earth. Hopefully at some point, these two titles merge to offer a more streamlined user experience.
One of the most important aspects of Google Maps for Android is directions. The app lets you easily conduct a search for a destination with text or voice, so you can get directions for driving, public transit, walking, or even biking. You can read your route in list form or hit the arrow icon to activate voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation. While traveling you can even fire up alternate routes if you happen to run into traffic.

But Google Maps is a lot more than just a database of geographic information. The application offers other baked-in services like Offers for nearby deals, Local search powered by Google Places and Zagat, and Latitude for locating Google contacts on the map (with their permission, of course). These services in aggregate make for a complete mobile experience that is pretty hard to beat.
Google Maps for Android now lets you cache maps for access while offline. This is hugely useful for travelers who frequently find themselves in areas outside of their home mobile networks. The feature lets you pinch and drag to determine the area you want to cache, and it tells you how much memory the saved file will cost you.

Had it happen on my iphone 4 that I use as an ipod now and I did a complete restore and it fixed the problem. I did do the over the air update the first time and this time I did it by connecting to itunes.

1. I already knew programming before going to College, and thought it would be easy learning computers in College!
2. I liked programing and working with computer applications.
3. I wanted to travel, working all over the world, and thought that I would be able to get a job in many different countries in IT.

I don't know fortunately or Unfortunately, How I found my self in IT!
Since Childhood I was complete sports person. I represent U-15, U-17,U21 for Rajasthan. I splurged my whole teenage all in Cricket. In My education I had one year Gap only because of we had to visit Sri lanka for couple of matches against Gale Sports Club (Formerly known as President Academy).We were lost with huge margin. I was scattered and complete disappointed, however right after I got selected in National Squad (only for training camp).But still meanwhile I managed myself to get admission into Engineering (Yes on payment seat ). I was below average student in subjects of science but at the same time I was crazy about Maths (Only because I used-to to count Runs and Required Rate all the time ).
So the year from "99 to "03 was the key for my career (with aspect of sports and education wise both).In First Year of Engineering I through without any Compartment. But In Second Year I got stuck in 2 Subjects But I was least bother about this as my sports career had not been affected. Yes Due to sports my Education career had always been penetrating.Guys believe me in my four year of Engineering life I only wrote one Program from myself which was Swapping the values of A and B without using third variable, that was in C++
However,Finally by hook or crook I managed my self in 03 in Final Year(Yes Final Semester too, No compartment Had Been carry forward ) In my through Life, I only took myself away from Cricket in Final Semester because now I wanted to Through in my Education. Only because my instincts and somebody says from inside I spend 3 and half year with cricket and Education so I must through when my Ship was almost on the shore.
Finally I got a chance to work in company where SAP ECC was about to Implement. I donu2019t know from where I got inspiration and courage to work rather than sport but yes I preferred to work there. Since now Iu2019m in SAP and I left a Cricket way back. But yes still I used-to manage to play over the week-ends, only when time allows.
And now Iu2019m the only SAP person in my project that has handling FI-CO and ABAP stuff, yes sometimes Basis too

Why did some applications have to rebuild their database after a Time Machine rollback?

Recently my system (10.8) got totally borked, so I booted into recovery mode and rewrote the entire disk from a two day old Time Machine backup. When I started back up, I found that:
Spotlight needed to reindex the entire disk.
Dropbox didn't recognize my computer, and after I logged back in it re-downloaded everything in my dropbox folder (even files that hadn't changed in the last two days).
Microsoft Office needed to rebuild the user database before I could use Outlook.
If my system was restored to the exact state it was in two days ago, why did all this happen? What made these applications behave differently from how they would have if I'd just left the computer off for two days?
I'd also be interested if anyone could point me to a list of things that are lost, reset, or rebuilt after restoring from Time Machine. Many thanks.

Just updated details - os x 10.8.5 .....
found an answer that could have been problem with CPU and a runaway application (possibly Bin Weevils) which my son was running at the time. I shall check the activity monitor next time to see what percentage cpu is being used..
