If you're trying to use Time Machine with an external hard drive the drive must be formatted OS X Extended (journaled);
So use Disk Utility to reformat the EHD and then open Time Machine and select the drive again.

Possibly the drive is full
Possibly the permissions are not set to WRITE permission
Possibly there has been a "user mistake" and you think you are copying to a drive you have been using for over a year but something has accidentally changed and you're copying to a different location

But the apps still remain purchased in my father's account and not in mine. Yes, if you repurchase it you may lose your progress. The exception would be a game that stored all your progress on a server under your ID
If you want to retain your progress you have two choices:
1. Don't apply the update.
2. Use your fathers account password to update the game.

Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

I have been using Firefox for the past 5 years. I have regularly updated it and have had no problems, however today all of the sudden I receive a message stating "Sorry, you are trying to use Google Calendar with a browser that is not currently supported. If you updated iPhone to iOS7, it now checks for real Apple Lightning Cable. Your cable may not be Apple, or someone swapped another cable with yours. Make sure the cable end is clean, take a clean dry toothbrush and carefully clean charging port on the iPhone.

HT4848 Is it possible to partition an external hard drive that is already being used for Time Machine backups without it being erased?

I'm want to use my current external hard drive, which I use for Time Machine Backup, as a recovery disk for Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2. From what I have read, the recovery disk assistant will erase all data on the external drive unless it is partitioned. Can I partition my current backup drive without erasing it, even though it is already being used for Time Machine?

It's very simple to test. Turn off your computer. Have your time machine backup plugged in. Hold option and turn it on, keeping option held. Do you see your time machine drive? If so, select it and press enter. You'll end up in recovery. If it works, there you go. Then just click the apple and restart to get back to your regular desktop. Then you'll know for when you're ready to do the deed.

I'm not sure if time machine will think it's an entirely different computer, though, when a hard drive changed, making an actual restore not doable. Either way, you could still reinstall mt lion fresh and then just migrate after, skipping the need for SL.

How can i manage old data on my file server that as not been used for over 2 years?

I have 4 file servers and more then 50% of the data is older then 2 years
I would like to move that data to another san, slower but i would like the user to have access by shortcut on there share
Would make it faster to backup because the drive would be 50% less big and would not affect users because they would see the same thing in there share it would just be a little lomnger to open file upon need.

I have an ipod that I have been using for iTunes, when I connect now to sync, and hit the eject ipod, I get a warning it can't eject due to applications being used in another program. I am having trouble disconnecting. Help!

I am having a problem with the new iTunes store. I can connect my ipod, and it will show that it is syncing. Once the sync is complete on iTunes, my ipod still shows that it is connected, do not eject. I have not had a problem with this until the new verision of iTunes. When I go to eject my ipod, it tells me that it can't eject due to application being used in another program. I did receive an ipad 2 for Christmas, that I also sync with iTunes, but only the ipad shows up in my devices on the site, what happened to my ipod device and how to add it back to devices? Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Why are some web sites that i have been using for years now all the sudden changing themselves from Standards compliance mode to Quirks mode? How do I change them back to Standards compliance mode?

Like I will be checking on an account { page is fine} go to a different screen then go back.... This is the fun part. The page starts off normal then all the sudden it shrinks and moves to the right side of the page with out me touching anything. I have had this happen to me a few different times and could not seem to get the help I needed. I bring up another page, look at page info and it says Rendering mode - Standards compliance mode, but on the messed up page it says Quirks mode. How do I get it back to Standards compliance mode?

Good day ... As I leave California I am still very puzzled at how Yahoo can hijack my pages while on the internet ...? A friend of mine who lives here is also puzzled at how this is happening. I have taken screen grabs and would video it if that is possible ...? The screen grabs have the time taken on each grab, so one can see how fast this happens .. in a matter of seconds Yahoo jumps in with no relevance to my link I was trying to get to or the last hit or any thing stored in my history ...
