Why do my file types get changed

Why does my ipod not sync my music, and it also changes my music files from music to other?
ipod touch using iOS8.0.2 and the newest itunes

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
Try syncing using the manual method
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

I'm unable to email PDF attachments, this has started in the last 2 weeks - any clues why as other file types are sending?

    Greetings,
That is rather strange. Attachments are attachments.  The big difference between what will send and what won't is usually either who you are sending it to (wrong email address) or how big the attachment is (most email providers have a limit to the total message size between 10 MB and 20 MB).
-- What happens when you say you are "unable to email PDF attachments"?  What error message do you get?
-- Are you sending these emails using the Mail program?
-- What is the file size of the PDF you are trying to send?
-- What happens if you compress the PDF before you email it (Highlight the PDF on the desktop and then go to File > Compress) ?
-- What happens if you send the PDF to yourself?
    Cheers.

  • Trying to find answers for the question "Why is this file type blocked from being uploaded into SharePoint"

At least once a month - sometimes much more frequently - I get calls from users asking why the file extension they "need" to upload to SharePoint is blocked.
Most recently, it was a Microsoft Access database that the user was attempting to upload to a document library. Before that, it was a shortcut link (*.url). And so on.
Is there a reference document which goes over the reasons why specific file types are blocked?
    Thanks!

Each blocked file format has it's own reasons for not being allowed to be stored on a SharePoint library.
Some of them are blocked because they would be processed by SharePoint Servers during the upload/download sequences, thus, possibly corrupting the system ( like dll files ). Others would cause Crawl to break ( url files ).
The Access database files are blocked for two valid reasons. First, because saving "live" to those files using Windows explorer window ( WebDAV ) doesn't work. Second because SharePoint product managers want us to use SharePoint lists instead.
    And it does makes sense.
If you're in the middle of a migration from file servers to a SharePoint solution, your people could use these situations to stop and think about it for a little:
Really ? Now that we have SharePoint, couldn't we do things a little bit differently ?

  • HANA auditing, what file types get created?

    Hello,
I've read through the blog 'SAP HANA audit trail, best practice' by  Frank Buchholz to create audit policies in HANA. Great blog and really appreciate sharing his experience. I've also worked with my hosting team to make audit configuration changes.
They've now asked me to check to see that the policies I've setup are creating records, and they've given me the path to check. The problem I have is I don't know what to look for. What file types are created in the OS SYSLOG by the audit policies? Would the files have the same name as the policies themselves? (self auditing, user SYSTEM, technical users, etc..) Does anyone have a sample with a screenshot to share?
    Thanks for the help.
    Cheers, Paul

  • File name getting changed while exporting file

I am exporting file of name something like
    mithun.ruikar.111212.csv
    I am using
    response.setHeader("Content-disposition", "attachment; filename=mithun.ruikar.111212.csv");
    to export my file.
Now what is happening is on JSP i get download popup and even i can save the file
and it shows proper contents inside.
Only problem is (default) name of file is
    now changed to
    mithun[1].ruikar.111212.csv.
    If i am trying
    ruikar.111212.csv only
    then i get ruikar[1].111212.csv
and for 111212.csv i get 111212.csv, which is right.
So only when i use more than one . in file name the first . is preceded by [1].
    How to solve this?

    I dont have anything duplicate.
as i said my file name is of format
    mithun.ruikar.121344.csv
here last part is time stamp.
and if use file name like 12344.csv or mithun.csv it works fine.
My problem is having filename with more than one dot
    and there are no duplicates.
I would like to know some kind of escaping for these dots.

  • Why the html file doesn't change with applet ?

i am new to java , i get a problem when i am modifying a applet . i recompile it to .class file but did not change its name . and the .html file which use the applet doesn't change with it , it still shows the original style , even when i delete the .class file . it works until i changed the name of the source file and use the different .class file in html . it's troublesome if i need to modify the source file because i must change the name to get it . can you tell me why and how could i avoid this ?

I am new also & had a similar experience.
In my case it was aftercompiling and trying to refresh the browser to get it to display the new version of my applet. I got around this by holding Ctrl down and pressing F5 to refresh.
Also, some of the systems at university cause exactly the problem you describe. Not sure why it should work but we overcame it by placing our files in the JDK folder on those systems & it worked properly. May be worth a try.

  • Why is image file size getting inflated by Pages?

I have a newsletter I am creating, and I have inserted 6 photos. They have been pre-downsized using Image Ready, so each image is around 30k. But after they have been inserted, the file size of the entire Pages document is huge. So I opened the Package for the document (Control click on the icon) and I see that now the images are each around 300k. The images have not been manipulated in Pages, no shadows or strokes. They have been resized just a teeny bit (made smaller in all cases).
So what is going on to cause this huge inflation of file size. It is making my document too big to email (although it has helped to control the pdf export to "Good"... or even better to use the Color Sync file size reduction dialog, which is buried so deep in the Print dialog that I can't believe this is a common way to do it...)
Anyway, all help would be appreciated. Thanks, Peter

yes, you are right that the best results that I got were from the Print command and the color sync option to reduce file size. Without that, I took a Pages doc that was around 2.7megs and the pdf varied from 1.8-2.5 using the export command. With the color sync method I did get it down to a 450k pdf, which I am satisfied with.
Still it baffles me that a 40k jpeg will inflate to 300k in Pages. I don't see multiple copies in the Package for the document, so I don't think it is multiplying. And I think that at least one of the images lives in the document without having been resized from within Pages, so that doesn't seem to be involved.
I am using jpegs, adjusting them in Photoshop and then optimizing them with Image Ready, but they are JPEGs all thru the process, and they clearly are averaging around 35-40k after Image Ready does it's t hing. That is the whole purpose of Image Ready, it comes with Photoshop with that intention solely. I could try saving the image file in Preview or some other program and seeing if it inflates liek the Image REady jpegs do.
Anyway, I am still curiouis about why this happens, but I can live with the rather bizarre method of using the Print>Color Sych method.
Thanks to all of you for your help, really,
    Peter

  • Default file type has changed for Illustrator CS5.1 - Please help!

I am using Illustrator CS5.1 and have just noticed that whenever I try to open a new document (file/New...) the document is a PDF instead of an AI file. How do I change it back to AI? - Not sure how it changed to PDF in the first place.

How exactly  are you determining the file is a .pdf? What platform/OS version are you on? What file extension (letters after period) is on your files, what format does your save as show?
If your icon is a .pdf icon and clicking on the file later opens in Acrobat, then your file association is not assigned properly.  On a Mac Command I on a selected file saved by illustrator, and change open with from acrobat to Illustrator, then click CHANGE ALL.
There are more possibilities to why this can happen, please answer the questions at the beggining of this post should you need more help.

  • File types spontaneously changed.

Recenty, I moved some AIFF files from my laptop to an external hard drive, to free up some space temporarily for a project.
When I moved the files back, they had been changed from AIFF files to "Source Files" and "Unix Executable Files". I have a feeling that they weren't actually changed, they were just renamed. Is there any way to rename/reclassify them?

    Hi Alex,
Do the files appear as aiffs on your external drive? What is your external drive formatted as? In order to change the type, just rename the file using .aiff as the extension and that will reclassify the program that they will open with. It seems to me like your external drive may be formatted in a system that OSX does not support. Hope this helps!

  • Why do my files keep getting mixed up

Is anyone here able to help my understand why this keeps happening to my files? (please see attached image).

  • Why did my file size get bigger with ProRes

I just used Mpeg StreamClip to convert my raw mark 2 footage to prores422 and the file sie wen from: 42.7MB to 159.3MB
I know that whats his name... philip bloom recommends Apple XDCAM EX 108030p
However, the quality gos down with this. Maybe I will try Apple XDCAM HD
    Any thoughts?

If your original acquisition is HDV and H.264 the Apple Pro Res 422 is fine, you wont gain anything going with HQ or 4444.
Your H.264 files got much larger because H.264 is heavily compressed and not designed for editing, it is a 'distribution' codec. It is best to convert to a I-frame codec such as Apple Pro Res for editing.
Your next problem may be mixing two different frame rates. The Canon 5D records at 30.0 frames per second and the A1 records at 29.97. I use Cinema Tools to conform (slo-mo) my 5d clips to a friendly frame rate. You need to realize audio will not stay in sync over long durations with this conform process.

  • What file types get classed as 'Movies' in Macbook Pro?

I'm creating space on my Macbook hard drive by moving movies onto a hard drive.  I've moved virtually all of them over, and emptied the trash can.  However a system storage report is still showing 59GB of movies.  What else does macbook class as movies?  Could it class podcasts .mp3 as Movies and count them towards the 59 GB?
