I am doing this beacuse in my space on my phone my doucments and data are taking up 9GB of space, and i don't know why other than in my phone it says messages are taking up 8GB or so. I am running ios 7.0. I have synced my phone with itunes, backed up, reboots after deleting the texts, they never vanish, i have even restored from itunes and restored from a backup that didn't include the texts after i deleted them.

actually better to reset your phone and reinstall the latest firmware again after that restore your back up it should be ok

Look under system preferences on the mac at what is be controlled? Look at Mail, Contacts, Calendars. How many accounts are managing contacts? Just the cloud? the cloud and gmail? or cloud, gmail, yahoo, and exchange? If you have more than one contact account, then you will have different contact lists, if John Smith shows up in more than one of your contact lists, you will have multiple entries.
Pick a contact list that is your master, (I use iCloud), only turn on contact syncing for it. The same for your phone. Spend some time on the iCloud webset (www.icloud.com) and work on your contact list there. Clean it up, remove duplicates, etc...Changes will auto sync back to all your devices. Life gets much simplier.
Just remember, if you sync different contacts lists and a large number of people appear in your different lists, then they will appear as duplicates.

Delete his user account and create your own, using your name.

Most likely there's nothing wrong with your phone, but its likely that your account is not provisioned properly in the carrier's network.

Why does iTunes not recognize my phone and looks at it as a new phone everytime I connect?

It started after the iOS 5.0 upgrade. Continues after iOS 5.0.1. (I have been syncing the same iPhone, my iPad 2, my iPod touch, and an older iPod Nano, for months.) I connect (via USB or wireless) and iTunes says "This computer has previously been synced with an iPhone or another iOS device", then gives me the option to either set it up as a new phone or restore from the backup of what is actually the same phone. I can initiate a sync from within settings on the phone and it will sync, but the iTunes screen continues to say the same thing... although it updates when the last backup of the phone was done. So I never get to the usual Summary and other detail 'tabs' in iTunes where I can make changes to the phone, select a movbie I want on it, rearrange apps, etc.
Appreciate any ideas!

I had a similar experience, Stevenfromchesapeake (see post under name Mojarashe posted on Sat. nov. 18). My situation is less complicated because I only own 1 apple device (iPhone 3gs).
After 4 days without access to essential tasks and information, I decided to hit the option to set up as a new phone. To my surprise, one of the options on the next screen, was to name my device the same name it previously had. The menu bar with Summary, Info, Music, Apps, Books, Movies, TV Shows, etc. detail tabs in iTunes reappeared.
You'll note if you read my original post, I went through several steps before giving up and selecting the set up as a new phone option. Those steps included removing all 6 iTunes related components, restarting my computer, and then reinstalling iTunes from the Apple site. Once this was completed, I connected my iPhone and said a prayer when I selected "set up as a new phone".

Finding the value of the text starting from x1 and ending at x2

While reading a notepad's each line, I need to take the each lines value starting from say 15th position to 20th position. If i use it_notepad-text+14(5) and the text does not contains any data, it generates dump.
pl. guide. Is there any function module to get the value of the string with starting and ending position.

I think the best is what G@urav suggested. Simple catching this exception will solve your issue
data: word type string.
loop at it_notepad.
   try.
       word = is_notepad-text+11(4). "get the required word
   catch cx_sy_range_out_of_bounds. "and catch the exception in case the word is too short
   endtry.
endloop.
This way you won't get dump and will be able to skip the line which don't have required number of chars.

Why is the text printed from phone so huge?

when I print from my smartphone the text is HUGE. I don't know how to make it normal size. I would appreciate any and all ideas. I am not terribly savvy on this so please make it as simple as possible. Thank you so much for your time and thoughts.

I am new here and answering my own question because I didn't know how to remove or edit it. When I registered my wireless printer (hp Officejet 4630) I thought it was automatically activated on all of my devices. I thought this because I could actually print wirelessly from my devices. The size of the text however, was absolutely huge and the entire paper was completely full. For some reason while I was "messing" with my phone (after I posted this question) the app asked if I wanted to activate the printer (which I thought was activated) but I went ahead and decided to say yes and it led me through a few simple steps and said I was activated. I tried printing again and lo and behold the text was normal. This prompted me to check my other devices and go through the required steps to make sure I am activated on them also. I am! The print-outs are fine now. I hope this may help someone else. Thanks for your patience.

Why is the text on itunes squashed and compacted?

For some reason, all of the text on itunes is very small and overlap each other. Not sure why this happens but it is very annoying and blocks some of the features. The picture is an example of what I mean.

Another example from the Stairlifts.html page where <b><font><u>....<font><u></b> appears and even if corrected wouldn't be closed in the correct order.

Kids getting my texts on their phone and vice versa---HELP

Ever since the update last night, and not prior to that, some of my texts and responses ends up on their phones. It only happens if we have the same contact. I saw on here something about not using the same ID on 3 different phones, but we've always done this. We have one ID and share it by using folders to sync.
Can anyone please help please?? This has to stop right away....arrggg.
So I take it to a Sprint store and they tell me to just go to Apple store. I'd like to avoid that mess if I have to.
BTW, there we have 2 4s's and one 4. Please help!

So, when I went into settings-messages-send/receive, it showed all of our phone numbers and they were all checked. I unchecked all the ones that were not my phone number and sent a test message. It worked. I did not get their message on my phone. I had to message do this to all 3 phones.
If I have any other issues, I will make the id's as you explained.
I am very appreciative of your time. I was desperate and you really helped me out. I never would have looked there had you not told me to.

If you don't want to give credit card details on your account then you need to follow the instructions on this page when creating an account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534 - if you don't use those instructions then you will need to enter card details before the account can be used in the store.

Why are some messages pushing to mac and not phone?

I am very frustrated, as, I have had occational times where a text bypasses my phone and goes to my macbook. My wife will use the laptop frequently and it happens sometimes when she is on the computer.   It will somtimes send a text the computer even if somone is not using it, though. How do I get the system to send the message to both devices, or, to simply stop all texts from going to the computer? thx

Log out of iMessage on your Mac, and the messages will be forced to only go to your phone.   If your phone has no signal at time the message was sent to you, that could explain why Mac is getting but not your phone.
I'd first try to logout of iMessage on both devices, then reactivate first on your phone, then your Mac.   See if problem fixes itself.

If you're using an email address they could have an iOS device or a Mac.
