Why do the bookmarks on my iMac appear on the Safari page of the the new iMac I just bought?
I have owned and operated an iMac for four years. I'm just in the process of setting up a new iMac for my wife (who's never had one before) in her study upstairs. In the process of setting up, I open up Safari on my wife's machine, and discover, weirdly, that without me doing anything to link the two machines together, all my bookmarks appear on my wife's machine's Safari page when I open it.... so I delete the ones she's not interested in, and carry on. When I switch off her machine to go out this morning, then come back and swith it on again, all my bookmarks are on her machine again!
So my questions - why did it happen in the first place? How do I stop it happening again once I've deleted the bookmarks she's not interested in?
If you set up iCloud with your Apple ID, iCloud syncs your bookmarks and all your data to the computer. Simply, go to System Preferences > iCloud and sign out of iCloud

It could just be a compatibility issue. Have you tried resetting the Nano with everything connected to see if that makes a difference?

i am using numbers in the new iWork. Just bought it 10 days back. I am not able to figure out how to add serial umbers from 1 to 100( for example) also i need to freeze the top header like in windows so that we can browse down without the heading going off. Can some one help?

Be aware that "Freeze Header Rows" and "Freeze Header Columns" apply only to rows and columns that are Header rows or Header columns. You can have up to five Header rows, Five Header Columns (and five Footer rows) on a Numbers Table.
"Header rows" is a special designation. Besides being able to be frozen, Header and Footer rows are not included in formulas referencing whole columns, making it possible to place formulas such as =SUM(B) at the top (or bottom) of column B without causing a self-reference error, These designated rows are also not included in sorts of the rows in a table.

If you try to sync your device to a new computer that does not have your iTunes Library on it, then it will erase everything on your device and sync whatever is in the iTunes Library on the Computer you are syncing with.
You need to transfer your iTunes Library to the new computer, or you need to burn the CD to the iTunes Library on the computer you normally sync with.

Actually, I did eventually get it to open. However, the photos are no longer tagged. I recovered the photos from my external hard drive, which is where I always stored them.
So you are saying that I would need to actually to a BACKUP from ELEMENTS itself? If I do that, the tags will still be attached to the photos? I have over 6000 photos. I do not want to have to reorganize and re tag them again.

If you have iTunes 11 (the latest which you should use) turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod.... and follow the instructions. -

Fast backup for iTunes library (Windows)
Grab SyncToy 2.1, a free tool from MS. This can be used to copy your entire iTunes library (& other important data folders) onto another hard drive or network share. You can then use SyncToy periodically to synchronise or echo your library to the backup. A preview will show which files need to be updated giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the new or updated files will be copied saving lots of time.
If your media is all organised below the main iTunes folder then you should also be able to open the backup library on any system running the same version of iTunes, regardless of the drive letter or path it appears on.

Why is the new Griffin Powerjolt lightning car charger 10W?
I know the answer, so they can sell it for both Ipad and Iphone. But if the Apple iphone charger is 5W, then why is the new Griffin Powerjolt SE charger allowed to be listed as OK for Iphone? If the Iphone were supposed to be charged at 10W, then Apple would have supplied a 10W charger.
Now that I have done a more thorough evaluation of available info, it appears that as long as the voltage is the same (which it is) then it will draw at only the amperage that it requires, meaning no problem. Thanks.

Why does the new version 5 of firefox show up all the graphics on my web sites with a huge wide black border? They should be narrow and yellow!! I use iWeb for my web sites on an AppleMac iMac 22" wide screen.
That is unfortunately a bug only in Firefox 5 and will be fixed in Firefox 6 (Aug).

Why does the new operating system not delete the moved files from their original locations - it seems like an enormous waste of space, time and effort to clean up every file once you've moved it - also, when transferring large amounts of files it becomes a very large problem remembering which files were transferred and which not.
You're going to need to be more specific, as I'm not quite sure I understand what you're talking about.
If you're referring to copying from an external hard drive or flash drive, and you want to actually move files rather than copy them, you can hold down the option key to force it to do a "move" rather than a "copy." This is not new behavior, though... the Mac OS has worked this way as long as I can recall (and I've been using it since 1984).
If you're having a problem with trying to move files from one place to another on a single drive causing them to be copied instead, that is likely because of some permissions issue preventing you from actually being able to move them. -

All buttones, video, tv, info, music, they all do nothing. i was only able to sync by bringing up the old sidebar. Is this a software glitch, or am i missing a step? I just spent two days reorganizing and labeling all my music for the new itunes, and had to restore my ipod so i could upload my new library. i know what is supposed to come up when you click on the music or info tabs, but nothing happens, only the eject button works. whats going on?
The screen is telling you to connect the iPod to your computer with iTunes with the USB connector. iTunes should open and give you instructions as to what to do. Whatyou need to need to do is to restore the iPod via iTunes.

Try troubleshooting Safari extensions and third party plugins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

I'll pass pass on the "why", although the reason given would be to improve Firefox by having a page that is on your system -- but the the content is not exactly on your system. I always find it amazing that there is anyone who uses the default home page, especially when Firefox has s builtin search bar. Even a couple of my friends who think the internet is their former ISP have there former ISP's page as their their home page.
To restore a Google search page you can replace your homepage with http://www.google.com then you will see those Google applications at the top of the window.
