Why does Apple claim my email address is invalid?

I'm attempting to change my alternate email address from a "hotmail.com" to a "ymail.com". When I type in my "ymail.com" address, I get an error (in RED) under my email address that states: "Please specify a valid email address". Whom do I inform that "ymail.com" (as well as "rocketmail.com") is part of "yahoo.com", and is clearly a VALID email domain?

it is doing the same thing to me and my brother

  • Why does Apple not allow email addresses to be separated with a semicolon?

This is silly. Do I need to install some other email program just to use semi-colons like every other email program in existence?

Apple seems to conform to RFC5321 Internet Message Format, i.e. email, and uses addresses seperated by commas.

  • Why does Signature with an email address appear on the top left hand corner of each template? Is there a way to remove this or is it standard? Thank you!

I'm not sure this is necessary or is it proof to the customer of where the proof/invoice is coming from for approval?
Thank you for your time and consideration!

    Hi Brandon,
By default, if you are not placing the signature field in document manually, a signature block ( having signature and email address ) is placed at the bottom left corner of document by default.
While sending the document from Send tab, just check "Preview, Position Signatures or add form fields" and hit Next. In Preview page, you can drag and drop Signature field along with other form fields at appropriate position in document.

  • Why does my iPad say email address rejected by server ?

When I try to send an email, my I pad says the senders address was rejected by the sever. Help I've already contacted the server.

Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account > account name , tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if it then works

  • Does Apple pass on email address to others?

Every time I purchase through iTunes I get SPAM galore.  It's extremely annoying. Anyone have any clues what might be causing this?

Apple does not pass on the info.
I have many purchases and have never seen any SPAM because of this.
    Are these coming from Apple?
You can turn off notifications (new songs and artist info)  in your iTunes account settings.

  • In Address Book, why does Apple let you create custom fields in the Template cards but not have them available for importing?

I open Address Book, go into Preferences, select Template and under the Names field (friend, assistant, father, etc) I add a custom field called "Principal".
I also add two more custom fields in the Email area.
Quit Address Book then relaunch. Add a new contact and the new custom fields, Principal, etc. are there. All good so far.
I have a Now Contact file with about 200 contacts in it. I export all fields as a Text file, Tab delimited. No problems there. With Address Book launched, select Import, pick the text file, leave Text Encoding on Automatic and click Open.
The window that shows the fields for Address Book and fields for the text file side by side opens. This is where you match up the correct fields for importing. If I go to one of the fields from the text file that I created a custom field for, click under the Address Book heading on the Do not import, scroll thru the Apple choices of fields, none of the custom fields show up. Only the original Apple ones are there. Why does Apple let you create them in the Template area but not have them available for importing? Does anyone have suggestions on getting around this?

While most likely not of interest to you, Spotlight can also tell you where the files it finds are located
Hover the mouse pointer over the name, and press Command-Option and the path to the file will be displayed.
As for opening a terminal session in the directory where a file is located, there is Applescripts that do just that as well as specific features in Lion/Mountain Lion terminal:

  • I changed my Apple ID (other email address and password) and now I can not login to my account in the iPhone iCloud. When I open the tab iCloud displayed my old Apple ID (it was in the iCloud) and asks for a password, but neither the old nor the new passw

I changed my Apple ID (other email address and password) and now I can not login to my account in the iPhone iCloud. When I open the tab iCloud displayed my old Apple ID (it was in the iCloud) and asks for a password, but neither the old nor the new password does not match. What to do?

If you want to change your iCloud ID or password on your phone go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, then sign back in with your updated information.  Note: this only deletes the account and any synced data from your phone, not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account and not changing accounts it will be synced back to your device when you sign back in.

  • Jeez Apple: How many email addresses do I have to have!!!!

Put this here as I couldn't see a forum that deals with Apple ID so, iTunes, IOS, Mountain Lion?? No idea.
Anyway, I started the process to migrate to iCloud mail accounts (I already use iCloud for calendar sync etc) as I've never really liked Gmail's IMAP and I only ever use it's web interface to go and sort out one of the countless glitches I have when trying to get Gmail IMAP to work well with different Mac/IOS mail clients.  Must admit I was quite disappointed to find that I could not then use my iCloud email address as my Apple ID.
I can understand the desirability of having a secondary non-iCloud email address as a secondary address too, esp if Apple needs to contact you in the event of service issues.  But I do find it a PITA that my Apple ID rescue email address needs to be different to my Apple ID and my rescue email!! Why for God's sake?? I only want one secondary email address, the same address I'd like to use to rescue my ID details!!!  But no, now I need a THIRD email address!!
I can understand a non Apple email address being desirable (albeit I'd still like to be able to use my iCloud email address as my Apple ID) but forcing me to maintain a third email address?????  Come on!!!!

But I do find it a PITA that my Apple ID rescue email address needs to be different to my Apple ID and my rescue email!!
Resue email needs to be different than rescue email?

  • Why is Adobe selling my email address?

Can you please tell me why you are selling my email address? I am now getting my inbox full of spam!

I started receiving spam on 6th February. The chat session went like this...
Pradeep: Please be informed that Adobe does not sell the email address to any third parties.  Also there is no reports of any suspicious activity on our servers.  Is there anything else I can help you with
Me: Okay, so the only explanation is that someone has successfully circumvented your security and taken information without your knowledge?
Pradeep: I am sorry but Adobe has all the confidential information stored securely.  We have not lost any of our information.... We do not have any confidential data lost from our servers.
Me: Either you are lying or the adobe website is wrong.  http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/customer-alert.html
He went on to tell me that my information was not lost in the October 2013 incident.  So there must be another one.  All mails sent to my adobe address are now being redirected to spamcop and I am very unimpressed with Pradeep's response.

  • HT3209 Why does apple not allow me to download an hd movie to my pc? Why doesnt apple get it that I simply want to download a hd movie to my computer so that I can repeatedly watch the hd movie via apple tv to my pc as opposed to using isp bandwidth?

    See title.

This does not answer you question as to "why does apple", because for some reason Apple will treat us like children and try to do everything for you. An unrelated example would be trying to change the IP address of an Airport Extreme Base Station. You cannot. It will always grab the first IP in your subnet whether you like it or not. OK I digress. What I can say is that iTunes, in it's infinite wisdom, will look at your display and decide whether it will playback a HD movie (minimum 1280x800). If not, based upon display settings, it will refuse you the HD download. The "why" I cannot answer other than if you buy the HD movie on any other device like your iPhone 4 or iPad, you cannot share it from your library. So, maybe they get to sell more copies of the movie? That's my best guess. I've been an Apple guy since I first bought my Apple IIe. But honestly, I fume at them for being entirely non-responsive to their customers. Another example is the loss of the scroll arrows starting in OS Lion. Despite thousands and maybe millions of customer complaints, they refuse to listen. (Wow, I feel so much better...)

Why does my connection to email server time out on default port?

    Hi there,
There may be a conflict between the network settings and your devices. I would recommend taking a look at the article below and comparing that to your routers current settings.

  • Why does Apple require ISBNs when Amazon and B&N don't?

I'm sure this has been discussed, perhaps someone could point me to an answer.
Why does Apple require an ISBN when Amazon and B&N's digital stores don't. In many ways this eliminated many individuals or small presses from selling their books on iTunes. Does Apple specifically not want those not alligned with pre-digital publishing to be able to sell books on iTunes? Perhaps there is something I'm missing here.

Fabini, by the fact that I've uploaded and sold dozens of eBooks on Amazon and B&N without ISBN numbers. They both don't require them for eBooks.
As per Amazon: “An ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is not required to publish content with Kindle Direct Publishing. Once your content is published on the KDP web site, Amazon.com will assign it a 10-digit ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number), which is unique to the eBook, and is an identification number for the Kindle Book on Amazon.com. If you already have an ISBN for your eBook, you’ll be able to enter it during the publishing process. Do *not* use an ISBN for the print book edition.”
As per barnesandnoble.com's PubIt!: “You do NOT need an ISBN to sell your eBook through PubIt!. If you don’t have an ISBN, just tell us that you don’t have one by answering No when prompted. In that case, Barnes & Noble will assign an internal 13-digit identifier to your title for you when you submit the title to go on sale.”
Apple is the only of the "big three" eBook distributers that requires an ISBN and that is a bad call and reduces that "democratic" power of eBook publishing. I hope they change the policy soon. Anyone know who the best person to email about this issue would be?
