Why does Apple not offer Logic Pro X as an extra when you buy a 13" MacBook Pro online? Is Logic not suited for the 13"?

Hi Guys,
Is there a reason that Apple does not offer Logic Pro X as an extra when buying the MacBook Pro 13" online?
I understand that the screen is probably a bit small, but I need the portability (recording in studio/gigs etc), and will be plugging it into a bigger monitor when I am working at home.
I cannot afford the 15", and an iMac is not an option, due to portability.
Also, for music production (audio tracks and midi, with plugins), would you guys recommend I upgrade to the 2.9Ghz i7 and 8bg RAM?
Thanks!

  • Does Apple ever actually do anything to improve re: user complaints? Wits end with Macbook Pro 15" wifi dropping constantly.

I bought a 15" Macbook Pro nearing a year ago and I've regretted it since about after a week of owning it. It's on 5.1.7
The wifi is terrible. Drops out daily. When it does, it usually takes at least a good 5 minutes and moving it to another position for it to work again. Sometimes longer. Often it'll do it back to back all night. I wish I could leave it most of the time, but I bought it to use when I wish and to work on. I also have to be about 20 meters or closer to the router to even have a chance at a connection. This is not the case with the Windows laptop in the same house. I can no longer use a laptop at my desk because it is too far away (about 5 metres further than the area it sometimes works)!
Moved the router. Done all that nonsense. Still crap.
It also struggles when I have as little as both Illustator, Photoshop and Safari open. Literally going insane with it.
I am constantly looking up ways to fix it. This forum pops up on every search. What I don't understand is, SO many people have the same problem yet there seems to be no real solution. Does Apple ever answer? This forum seems to be pages and pages of the same problem with the same amount of 'help' from other members that in many cases either you have to be techy to understand what they are even talking about or they've tried it all and are left with the same problem anyway. Square 1.
    - It should be noted that the inner workings of tech bores me to no end. I already know too much about it but I'm just not interested. If I was, I'd have went to uni and studied it. I just want something that I bought to function properly. Why hasn't there been a hardware update if this is a known hardware issue? etc etc etc

You have tried a different router or access point, correct?
You have updated the firmware on the router, correct?
You have tried different wireless security protocols on the router, correct?
You have taken it a Genius Bar, correct?
You have started from scratch and reinstalled a fresh system, correct?
What troubleshooting have you done besides move the router.
    Does Apple ever answer?
No.  These are user to user forums

  • Why does Lexmark Printer Software Update v2.7 keep showing up as an update on my MacBook Pro, even though it's installed?

I use a Lexmark Pro901 & Pro915.  One printer I use at work and the other at home.  I've connected the printer cable to my MacBook Pro and both printers during the update and nothing changes.

Your post is incredibly hard to read, font is way to small.
If you used Boot Camp Assistant to create a partition to install Windows to you need a REAL Windows 7 or 8 install media and license key and you have to actually install Windows on your Mac. Boot camp is only for creating a partition to install Windows and starting the Windows install from REAL Windows install media.
That Windows install media has to be a DVD disc, if your Mac has a built in DVD drive (Apple does not allow Windows to be install any other way on Mac computers that originally come with a built in DVD drive), or from a USB stick with the actual Windows install files on it (Not an ISO of the Windows install files).
So the question is did you install Windows on your Mac? It doesn't look like it from the Option key boot and the list of available Boot Devices you posted.

  • I am having difficulty getting to grips with the mac book pro.  I needs some training - does anyone know if Apple provides a free course when you buy a laptop?  I am having difficulty moving files from the hard drive to an external drive.

Does Apple provide a free course for new Macbookpro users?  In Dubai?
I have downloaded files on to the hard drive and cannot move them on to an external drive.  I have now lost my document folder from the status bar, although I can see it in finder.  How do I get my 'document' file back and in place on the status bar.  I tried to drag and drop it into the external drive - but failed and lost it to what appears to be space!  Please help - many thanks.  Maddy

  • When asking about connecting apple said only connect to 1 pc what happens when you buy a new pc?

I am thinking of switching to a mac. We have three iPods in the house and loads of pcs. Last time I upgraded my lap top I had to open a new I tunes account and couldn't sync the music that was on my iPod with the pc and it has caused me issues ever since. How do you get around this as we have just bought another iPod and as I am upgrading my pc don't want to have the same issues in the future?

You cannot switch from using iPod nano with a Mac to using it with a Windows PC, without erasing all data on iPod nano.
iPod is formated for Windows, how to reformat for Mac?

  • HT201343 Why does apple not allow me to stream DVD's from my macbook pro to my apple TV?

  • In Address Book, why does Apple let you create custom fields in the Template cards but not have them available for importing?

I open Address Book, go into Preferences, select Template and under the Names field (friend, assistant, father, etc) I add a custom field called "Principal".
I also add two more custom fields in the Email area.
Quit Address Book then relaunch. Add a new contact and the new custom fields, Principal, etc. are there. All good so far.
I have a Now Contact file with about 200 contacts in it. I export all fields as a Text file, Tab delimited. No problems there. With Address Book launched, select Import, pick the text file, leave Text Encoding on Automatic and click Open.
The window that shows the fields for Address Book and fields for the text file side by side opens. This is where you match up the correct fields for importing. If I go to one of the fields from the text file that I created a custom field for, click under the Address Book heading on the Do not import, scroll thru the Apple choices of fields, none of the custom fields show up. Only the original Apple ones are there. Why does Apple let you create them in the Template area but not have them available for importing? Does anyone have suggestions on getting around this?

While most likely not of interest to you, Spotlight can also tell you where the files it finds are located
Hover the mouse pointer over the name, and press Command-Option and the path to the file will be displayed.
As for opening a terminal session in the directory where a file is located, there is Applescripts that do just that as well as specific features in Lion/Mountain Lion terminal:

This is a user to user forum.  Apple isn't here and won't answer you.  You need to contact Apple directly.  You can use the Contact button at the bottom of the screen.

  • Why does apple not remove the malware Genieo

Why does apple not remove the malware Genieo - it takes over the Safari browser even with extensions turned off - firefox works fine but the malware is still alive and kicking on my mac.  Should I just uninstall safari and hope the malware is not doing more damage in the background?

    Hi Sickof --
Apple has never had anything to do with Genio.  It is sneakily installed with other apps you think would be helpful. It is very sickening, IMHO.

  • HT3209 Why does apple not allow me to download an hd movie to my pc? Why doesnt apple get it that I simply want to download a hd movie to my computer so that I can repeatedly watch the hd movie via apple tv to my pc as opposed to using isp bandwidth?

    See title.

This does not answer you question as to "why does apple", because for some reason Apple will treat us like children and try to do everything for you. An unrelated example would be trying to change the IP address of an Airport Extreme Base Station. You cannot. It will always grab the first IP in your subnet whether you like it or not. OK I digress. What I can say is that iTunes, in it's infinite wisdom, will look at your display and decide whether it will playback a HD movie (minimum 1280x800). If not, based upon display settings, it will refuse you the HD download. The "why" I cannot answer other than if you buy the HD movie on any other device like your iPhone 4 or iPad, you cannot share it from your library. So, maybe they get to sell more copies of the movie? That's my best guess. I've been an Apple guy since I first bought my Apple IIe. But honestly, I fume at them for being entirely non-responsive to their customers. Another example is the loss of the scroll arrows starting in OS Lion. Despite thousands and maybe millions of customer complaints, they refuse to listen. (Wow, I feel so much better...)

Why does apple not stop these app that steal money from small children

In the final analysis it is down to parents to use the parental control features.
In addition to that, parents should regularly check the nature of all downloaded apps available to their children.
Yours are the chidren ... and yours, the responsibility.

  • HT1338 Why can't I update my iPad iso 4.2 version? I go to setting and it does not have it like it should. Why does apple have to make things so freaking hard! Help!

Why can't I update my iPad iso 4.2 version? I go to setting and it does not have it like it should. Why does apple have to make things so freaking hard! Help!

If you have an original iPad 1, the latest version of iOS it can run is iOS 5. So you should be able to update no problem.
Update iTunes to the latest version (11.0.2). Then simply plug your iPad into the computer and open iTunes. Click the iPad either in the sidebar or the top navigation bar. Then attempt to update the software. If it doesn't work, please post the exact error message.
Note that it would be wise to first ensure you back up the iPad.

  • Why does apple not allow 3D

A statement from the Smithsonian: "....iPad. Although these devices technically fully support 3D graphics in the web browser, due to a restriction of Apple it is not currently possible to use the Smithsonian X 3D explorer on iOS devices." Why does Apple not allow Smithsonian X 3D to run on MAC iOS devices? It runs on other OS such as Android etc.

    John,
If you know so little about the topic why even respond? Just to take sides? How do you even know your on the right side? Because you bought an iDevice and must obey your master?
Firstly 63% of video on the web is not HTML5. There is no such thing as HTML5 video.
HTML has a new tag called <video></video>. This tag allows the playback of videos converted to a specific codec. In safari it is h.264, in chrome it is VP8, in firefox it is OGG.
Each browser can only handle their codec, so a video that runs in the enw <video> tag in safari will not run in chrome or firefox unless another video is also present that has been converted to the correct format.
Adobe Flash can play all of them, or any one of them in any browser. Or you can just use .flv and have only one video that plays everywhere.
As such Adobe Flash plays back h.264 video, and has been doing so way before anyone heard of HTML5. Most hardware today has built in support for this codec as well, making it the best performig codec to be used for video.
With or without HTML5, h.264 is and has been becoming the "standard" codec for all video.
So to say 63% of video is HTML5 is a half truth. If you only cinsider safari then yes, 63% of the videos that flash plays can also be played in safari. However that same 63% can not be seen by anyone else as they require a different codec.
This says that h.264 is the dominant codec, because 63% of all video uses it. However you still need to support the other 37% of video which is not h.264, and you still need to support the other 63% of video for those who dont use safari.
The best option to bring all this together is Flash. It's the one stop shop for all video across all screens.
And Flash out performs HTML5 players 10 to 1 on every product on the planet except Apples.... where it somehow becomes a huge resource hog.... but then that may have something to do with Apple not wanting any media consumption to come from anywhere than their pocket.
