Why does it take several minutes for Firefox to copy anything?

While trying to copy text, firefox takes some time to actually do the task and let me move on to doing something else. While doing this it stops everything running in firefox as if it was working hard to copy a bit of text. My PC works fine in other things, I can minimize FF and go about doing whatever else I want to do while FF is working on it.

Why does it take so long for Firefox to launch at initial start up? It usually takes 3 or 4 minutes. IE loads within a few seconds.

Why does it take several attempts for my WiFi/Airport to work on my MacBook Pro?

When I open my computer, I usually pull up Firefox right away, and it works. But since I installed several software updates ("Airport Utility" Version 6.0, "Mac OS X Update Combined" Version 10.7.3, "Thunderbolt Firmware Update" Version 1.0, "MacBook Pro EFI Firmware" Version 2.3, and "MacBook Pro SMC Firmwar Update" Version 1.5), my internet takes forever to become active. Here's the thing, it SHOWS complete connectivity on the Airport, but the internet doesn't work. I have to open up Safari, go to Network Diagnostics (where it says "Your internet connection appears to be working correctly"), then re-select my Network on the Airport's drop-down menu, and re-fresh my internet page 7-8 times, and then the internet just works!
It's not my ISP, because this has happened on 3 different networks (home, school, and at a friend's).
Someone help me! What can I do to fix this? Do I need to un-install one of those updates?

Is this a common problem, not having the iPod be recognized when connected? If so, if this the standard protocol for correcting it?

Why does it take so long for me to dl anything

Just recently in the last couple weeks when ever i try to Download anything like updates or try to load a youtube vidoe it takes hours for me to get them to stream or download. I reset my internet and loading pages is super fast. I just have problems with trying to stream youtube videos or downloading updates. Its getting really frustrating when i cant even watch a video. 250kilobits/second as shown by SpeedTest.net actually translates to about 31kilobytes/second download speed. Most webpages are very small and are only around 5k - 150kb, therefore they dont take much to stream. Try running SpeedTest.net on one of the other machines in the house and see if you get the same lowsy result. If you do, then you need to call your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and tell them you have lost partial-service with your internet. If you get a normal speed, then a different problem has taken place with the machine itself.

Use Software Update or the OS 10.6.8 combo update to update your OS. Also, update everything SU has to offer for your computer. When done, repair permissions and restart your computer.

It seems to take about 3 minutes to spool up printing from any program on my MacBook, but it will start instantly with my iPhone.

Well several different versions at different resolutions are saved to the library so it can be played on different devices. If you don't need this you can speed things up a bit but disabling save to theatre.

The same pictures in iPhone utilises half the storage space than in the iPad.

Photos on the ipad should take up little more space than It does on The iPhone because of the screen resolutions size.
Keep in mind If the photos are being stored on the device by Photo stream they will Take up less Space or if The photo Are being store by itunes syncing they may take up a little more.

The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.
Netflix movies are adaptive and vary their quality according to your connection and can be as low as 0.5 Mbps.
But remember lower datarates = lower quality.

I just got the iphone 4s...I have had two other iphones in the past and they did not take this long to sync. This is my first time connecting it to my computer.

8 hours later and it is reading "finishing sync" which I believe is past Step 5 and I have no idea when the "finish" will occur and am afraid to disconnect/interrupt the sync. The current version of itunes (11) is installed and syncing Microsoft Outlook (about 400 contacts, calendar, etc) for the first time. What should I do next besides wait?

Designer takes several minutes for login using LDAP authentication

We have a issue, when we tried to login to the designer using LDAP authentication it takes several minutes and using enterprise account we are able to login to the designer with in seconds.
CMC and infoview all are working fine using LDAP authentication.
We are using BOXIR2,
FP 1.6.

There have been several changes in LDAP since FP 1.6 but if infoview is ok then hopefully you aren't running into any of them. When logging into client tools the LDAP requests are sent to the LDAP server directly from the client. An issue like this would suggest there is a problem reaching the LDAP server from the client.
Is LDAP SSL being used? If yes try disabling it, if no then you can packet scan the logon attempt on the client and filter the LDAP traffic to see how long it's taking for that communication.

I normally have to send the card over and over again to my daughters account and it takes her 2 hours to et it. Why does it take so long?

I don't think that anyone here can answer that question. We are not Apple employees and would not know what the actual process is that takes place when you send a gift card. I don't think that is totally unusual for the card to take a couple of hours to go through, but like I said, I don't know what the behind the scenes process is that is involved.
Why you have to keep sending the card is another matter but maybe it has something to do with your email provider and a delay on the server.
