Why does my console NOT run as a storage node

help!
I created a minimal console script, for testing, to run as a storage node, with my own classes in the classpath.
Unfortunately, it does not act as a storage node, even though I patterned it after the console script in the coherence/bin directory.
The failure symptom is that my application, run on a non-storage-enabled jvm, fails with "storage is not configured."
If instead of the console, I run as a storage node a jvm, with the same command line options, except with my own mainline that loops dumping the cache, the application in the other jvm works.
The console does work as a client node, and is able to use my custom classes from the classpath. Hence it is participating in the cluster (the whole cluster runs on my PC).
I assume there is something simple wrong here, but it escapes me.

Hi,
The CacheFactory console does not automatically join all cache services. If you join the cache-service that your application is using from the console, e.g.:

Hi, I wanted to back up my iphoto library to the cloud (Dropbox) as I'm worried about my NAS drive (it's a bit old) and also to extra safe with all my photos of the children.
So using really helpful advise from Brad Harris (http://www.selfcontained.us/2012/04/27/backup-iphoto-with-google-drive/) and a few tweaks added myself (with a bit of help from a UNIX DBA at work, he hasn't got a Mac though) I copied my iphoto library to a Dropbox folder and set up the following as a cronjob to sync the copy with the real iphoto library, however it doesn't seem to run as on updates get copied over and the log file doesn't get updated:

This works fine direct from Terminal without the 1 * * * * and also in an app created using Automator. I've also setup the Automator app to run as a login item but it takes much longer as I think it is clashing with Dropbox which is also a login item, hence wanting to get crontab working properly so it can run at different times and more often than just at login.
I'm on OS X 10.7.5. I'm at IT PM, which as you probably know means I haven't a clue what I'm doing when it comes to technical stuff but that doesn't stop me, so I'm dangerous with a little knowledge. If I'm also about to delete all my photos please let me know!

No do not copy what I wrote. In order to troubleshoot this issue you are going to need to understand a few shell basics along with how cron works. First your shell's environment then cron's environment. Read the manual for your shell and then man 5 crontab. Without setting environment variables in your crontab then the evironment variables will be set as follows by cron:
SHELL will be set to /bin/sh
PATH will be set to /usr/bin:/bin
MAILTO will be set to Nick
LOGNAME will be set to Nick
USER will be set to Nick
HOME will be set to /Users/Nick
Shell- /bin/sh is sufficient as long as the command(s) in your crontab are not written with any extentions to sh
Path- can be a gotcha if the command you want to use is not in /bin or /usr/bin
Mailto- can spam your email. Set MAILTO as follows:
MAILTO=""
You can use the other variables in your commands. Such as in your paths
$HOME/Pictures/iPhoto\ Library/
Start by removing the redirection to the log in your crontab. Add a picture to your iPhoto library and check whether rsync is working.
If cron is running rsync then add the redirection to the log file without redirecting standard out and standard error. Is the log written to? Make sure that the path to the log file is written correctly. You can also use rsync to write to a log file- RTM.

IE uses a different version of Flash than other browsers use. You need to install the Plugin version of Flash for Firefox.
1.Download the Flash setup file from here:

Save it to your Desktop. 
2. Close Firefox using File > Exit

Why does flash player not work with fcebook? Whenever I wish to view a video, I get the message that i need to upgrade my flash player. Then no matter how often I download and install flash player I still get the message that I need to upgrade my flash player. When I go check which version I have, I always get the message that I have the most current one. I run Mozilla Firefox with Windows. I don't know anything else.

This means you don't have the latest version installed. Update to 11.9.900.117, and Firefox will allow it: Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)

Why Does Dynamic Link Not Work

I purchased the CS5 Adobe Production Premium. I have been working in Premiere and I have been learning about how to use Dynamic Link. I want to be able to alter clips in After Effects and bring them back and forth into Premiere. When I go to File/ Adobe Dynamic Link/New After Effect Composition, I get this message:
Adobe Dynamic Link Requires Adobe Production Premium.
Since I own production premium, I do not know why I am getting this message. I have reinstalled the CS5 Production Premium Software twice and it still gives me the same message. What can I do to get Dynamic Link Working.

The S.I. prefix Giga is used to mean both 1000x1000x1000 and 1024x1024x1024. Computer software typically uses the second version, but using the first number makes the same number of bytes appear bigger when expressed as Gb, so is favoured by hard drive manufactures.

It's a bit like specifying a quantity in gallons without saying whether they are US or Imperial gallons - everybody gets the same volume but one number will be bigger than the other. I could offer you a tank with 10 Imperial gallons of fuel in it - but if I tell you it's 12 US gallons it sounds like you're getting more for your money.
Once the total size of your library exceeds the capacity of your device all you need to do is create some size limited playlists to determine what goes on the device. Don't sync all movies, sync one or two that you plan to watch soon. Likewise with TV Shows. Limit podcasts to unplayed episodes and finally create a music subset. What worked for me for some time was a smart playlist called Steve's Tunes defined as Playlist is Music and Playlist is not Exclude where Exclude was regular playlist that I would manually add to until Steve's Tunes was small enough to fit. These days I run an iPhone and have a number of smart playlists with ? Gb of most played, ? Gb of highly rated, ? Gb of recently added, ? Gb of essentials, ? Gb of unplayed etc. Each time I sync I get slightly updated selection without having to put any extra effort in.

Further to the question B4, Why does Orcale 8i not install on Pent 4?. I have no answer put I'm also trying to install 8i client on a Pent 4 running Windows XP Pro. I get no Error messages it just does not install.
Can any one through any light on this.

P4 makes trouble.

Why does AAM Updates Notifier run so much? It seems to really be working my hard drive.

AAM updater launches automatically as you start the computer, so you can try preventing it from auto launch as per the operating system.
Though it is not recommended much. you can check it is Re: How to deinstall AAM Update Notifier
Moving it to download & install for resolution.

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.

If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.

7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "Model Identifier." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

What do you mean by 'quick'? If you mean a few hours then I think it is normal (it's normal for me: 4+ hours for me depending on what I use it for). If you play apps with really good graphics it will make the battery go quicker. If you don't use it for much, then the battery might have gone out-of-sync with the battery percentage it thinks it has (I am not sure if this happens with apple devices though)

First ...read deggie's response. Makes sense - even a computer running a large amount of RAM can run short on memory depending upon the operation you are performing so sometimes you have to do what is available to "clear" the memory.
You can ...close apps and restart the iPad on occasion. You close apps by double tapping the home button to bring up your recent apps in the multitasking tray. Tap and hold down on any of the icons until they all begin to wiggle. Then tap the minus signs in the corner of the apps to close them. Close all of your apps in that area. Also take note of how many apps are down there. That may have something to do with why the iPad is running out of memory. Tap the home button twice to return to the home screen. Then restart your iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and slide to shut off. To power up, hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If you do this once in a while, it may make a difference in how your iPad performs. In any event, it will not hurt anything.

BTW- Your profile shows you have iOS 6.1.4 installed. The max iOS for an iPad is 6.1.3. iOS 6.1.4 is for iPhones only.

Both you and the recipient have to have active data connections, and both devices have to have iOS 5 or higher to be able to use iMessage. Also, they both have to have iMessage activated. If that is already the case, there is a possiblility that iMessage is down. It has gone up and down several times in the past week. Why does front row not have simple organization?

I currently have a hard drive hooked into my macmini which is hooked up to my TV. On my hard drive I have over 1000 movies, all purchased through iTunes. However when I use front row and i goto the movie section, I have to scroll through every movie to get to the one I want. There's no way to scroll by letter, only one by one. This is horrible and takes forever. Can apple do an update that makes the right button on the apple remote for scrolling letter by letter. For example, you click the right button to goto movies starting with B, C, D, E, F, etc. Then the down button for one by one scrolling. Also, why does front row not have genres? AppleTV does. Why not incorporate that into front row? Think, Apple, Think.

You can have sub-folders in the Movies folder and arrange your movies alphabetically that way.
