Why does my macbook display keep turning off

So having an issue with my macbook. I'll go away for a while, my macbook will go into sleep mode. Which is fine however when I click the mouse or another button to turn it back on nothing happens. There doesn't seem to be a way to wake it up so I have to use the power button, turn off and restart back up. Anyone know what the issue is.

Try a PRAM reset:

If no success, reinstall the OSX.  (a guess on my part)
Ciao.

Why does my iMac display keep shutting off?  Computer still running in the background.  I've tried unplugging and restarting, to no avail.    The computer is well out of warranty - about 7-8 years old, running 10.6.8

Checked.... the settings had not been inadvertently changed, but I did move the scroll and reset them back to the original.   Hasn't shut off again.... yet.   Will re-post with follow-up one way or the other.   Thanks.

  • HT201401 Why does my iPhone 3G keep turning off by itself even when it's not dead?

My dad had his iPhone 3G and gave it to me when he had an upgrade. He never had the issue of it turning off by itself, but when he gave it to me, all of a sudden it decided to turn off by itself even when it was on like 80% still.
I took it in to the Apple Store near me and they said that I had too much "stuff" on it, mostly music.
So, I completely redid my phone. I reset it completely so that it looked like a completely new iPhone. And then downloaded only 12 apps and 195 songs. And, only about 50 pictures. (This is an 8 gig by the way)
Right now, there's less than 4 gigs on there so far meaning I still have more than half of my phone to fill. They guy at the store said it needs 2 gigs to run.
SO, it should have started working since theres way less stuff on there now, and more than enough space to run. Why does it keep turning off still though?
It's so annoying and inconvenient. If anyone could help it would be SO appreciated.
    THANKS!!

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as a new device.  Go through each step in succession until your issue is resolved.

  • Why does my ipod nano keep turning off

    Hello

What do you mean it keeps turning off?
Perhaps it's an issue with the headphones. Make sure your headphones are plugged all the way in, meaning there is no silver still showing from the headphone's plug.  You should hear a sort of popping/clicking noise when you have fully seated the headphones.  If that isn't the case, make sure the headphone jack is clean and clear of debris.

  • Why does my ipod randomly keep turning off

my ipod keeps turning off and automacticly turning back on i have just synced it with itunes.
when im on my ipod when i enter a app it randomly goes back to the home screen it aslo painfully slow
    i need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If it still occurs that indicates a hardware problem. Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Why does my ipod 5 keep turning off

I have an ipod 5 and it will randomly turn off and when i try to turn it on it wont and shows a pic telling me too connect it to itunes. it will normally turn on a few minutes later. i tried updating to IOS8 and now it wont turn on at all

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Why does my MacBook Pro keep shutting off while I'm using it with full battery?

My Battery is 100% full and it keeps shutting off randomly, how can I fix this?

This is something you should log. Whenever your machine shuts off randomly, make a note of the time and what you were doing on your machine at the time. You may find that the shut downs aren't random at all. I had a similar problem with "random" shutdowns, and discovered that there was a power supply issue.
Please post here with your results.

  • HT201177 Why does my iMac display keep shutting off. The rest of the computer keeps running and I have to unplug it for a while to get it to come back up.

My 27" iMac's display goes to sleep after a few min, and you can still hear it running in the back ground. I can't hold the button on the back to shut it off. I have to unplug it for a while to get it to restart.

Well, at less than one year old it is under warranty (and hopefully you have Apple care too).
You should take it to your Apple Store and have it examined within the guarantee period.
The problem, may not be that serious, but that is what a warranty is for.   It is also why you should take out the insurance of Apple Care.

  • Why does my Windows Firewall keep turning off briefly?

I have just run a recovery on my dad's Pavilion Media Center TV m7470n Desktop, which restored XP Media Edition 2005 SP2. I then installed SP3 and used Windows Update to get more recent updates. The system is now working fine, but every so often I get a popup notification that says the Windows Firewall is off. The popup balloon quickly, and when I go into the Security Center the Windows Firewall shows up as on. I ran a full scan with Microsoft Security Essentials and I also tried Trend Micro's HouseCall and RootkitBuster. None of the scans showed any threats, but I'm still uncomfortable with the myesterious balloon popping up several times a day. Does anyone have any insight?

    Hello,
Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum!
    1. When you go to Control Panel -> Windows Firewall
do you see the firewall in ON condition (despite the security center warnings) ?
    2. Click on Start -> Run -> type services.msc and hit OK. In the list that will open, navigate to Windows Firewall and see if the service is set to Automatic and if it is started
    3. Let's flush the Security Center's memory :-)
Click on Start -> Run -> type services.msc and hit OK.
In the list that will open, navigate to Windows Management Instrumentation, right-click on it, and choose Stop.
Open My Computer/Windows Explorer and goto c:\Windows\system32\WBEM
There you will see a folder called Repository.
Right click it and rename it to rep_old
Again, go to services.msc and now start the Windows Management Instrument service.
After that, please, restart your computer.
Note, that after the restart the computer will rebuild the Repository folder and the first start after that might be slower than usual. Additionally, some services might be delayed.
    Additional precautions I would take:
    - Please, scan your computer for the presence of malware using HitmanPro (free):
    Information -> http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro/
    Download -> http://www.surfright.nl/en/downloads/  (32-bit version is yours)
Windows XP is getting out of support very soon - in less than 3 months Microsoft will stop supporting it anymore. It goes into history. It is highly recommended that you upgrade to newer operating system in order to use the latest technology, enjoy better security, faster and better programs, support, etc.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/end-support-help
If you plan on continue using Windows XP for longer (after Microsoft stops supporting it), I would choose another antivirus and firewall solution for the computer such as third party firewall like ZoneAlarm , and/or third party antivirus software like Norton Antivirus, McAfee Internet security, Kaspersky, ESET, etc. or all-in-one suit.
    Best wishes,

  • Why does quicktype (predictive text) keep turning off?

It's easy to reset it so that it's back on, but it seems like some sort of fault that it stops working (even though when you go into settings, it shows that it's on).

  • Why does my iphone 3gs keep turning off when i sync it with itunes like it tells me to when updating to IOS6?

    please help

    Hi Luke.Wilkins6,
It sounds like you are pressing the top Sleep/Wake button and the phone seems to shutdown rather than go to sleep, and occasionally youll see a purple screen rather than the Apple logo when you start it. I would start by resetting the phone, with these steps:
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
If the issue persists I would use the following article to backup your device to iTunes and restore it from your backup. If the issue persists, then restore it one more time as new using the same article to isolate to the backup file itself.
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
