Why does my shuffle 3rd gen. play music playlist in backwards order? And how would I correct this?

Hey, my iPod Shuffle was playing the music playlist I had imported through itunes from my mac fine and in perfect order until about 2 weeks ago. However for the last 2 weeks (there or thereabouts) it has played the playlist I on my shuffle in backwards order when I use the "Play in order" setting on my iPod. over this period I have tried everything short of going into apple to see what can be done incase im being stupid and have overlooked something. So far I have reset the unit independently wihtout the use of my mac (no effect), I have restored and re-imported the playlist I was using (no effect), I have imported an alternative playlist in case it was the playlist somehow (no effect), I have even uninstalled/re-installed iTunes on my mac and restored my Shuffle on the re-installed iTunes, also with no effect. The "shuffle" setting works fine and has no issue however and therefore makes me think it is some sort of hardware fault but as there been no physical damage to the unit nor has it undergone any form extreme treatment or been exposed to wildly varying temperatures I cant even think its cause is due to anything physical as nothing has happened to it...... I am stumped to say the least.... If anyone has experienced this also and cured their hardware could they please help?

it's a question how your itunes settings are
in preferences ->advanced
uncheck the copy files to itunes media folder when adding to library
then when ever you add media to your itunes lib you just add a link and the media stay where it is

We'll assume for now, that all the songs and albums in your iTunes Library are correctly labelled (dangerous assumption, by the way!), and that a Compilation album is one with songs by different artists. Unfortunately, the music industry (bless their little cotton socks!) often mark an album by one artist, that has a collection of their songs from old albums, as a compilation! iTunes doesn't think it is!
The missing artists will be those who only appear on Compilation albums. For example, if you have one song by Fleetwood Mac in your Library, and it's on a multi-artist Compilation album, then Fleetwood Mac will not be listed in the Artists menu. But, if you then import a Fleetwood Mac album (or even a Fleetwood Mac single) into your Library, then not only will Fleetwood Mac appear under Artists, but the song by them in the Compilation album will also be listed.
One way to sort this out is to remove the Compilations option from the Main Menu and the Music Menu on your iPod. To do this, go to Settings/Main Menu/Compilations and press the Select (centre) button to turn off the tick. Then repeat this in the Settings/Music Menu/Compilations.
You should now find the missing artists listed in the Artists menu.
By the way, I now routinely check all albums I import from CD into my iTunes Library. Before I start the import procedure, I make sure that Compilation CD is turned on (highlight the album in the import window and right-click/Compilation CD) if it really is a multi-artist CD - and off if it's a single artist CD. Once imported, I manually change the album info to; (highlight album and select ) File/Get Info/Info/Album Artist has "Various Artists" in the box. Make sure it's the Album Artist box, not the Artist box.

Are you saying that my address book has not been hacked into? That others are getting these email addresses from another source?
This confuses me. Are you saying that you are receiving bogus e-mails from some of your contacts, or are you saying that they are receiving bogus e-mails from you?
If the latter, there are a number of reasons that people might be getting e-mail from you. Malware, though technically possible, is extremely unlikely. See Someone is sending messages from my e-mail address!
If the former, that's rather unusual. The only decent explanation I can think of is that a bunch of your Windows-using contacts got infected with something and their machines are being used to spam everyone in their contact lists, which would include you.

The pages in sections stick together because the text flows between the pages.
Insert a section break to isolate pages between sections.
Now this all works in Pages '09, unfortunately Pages 5 doesn't let you.

If you've tried the iPod on multiple computers and it's playing fine, just not working with a PC or Mac I would have to say it's most likely your dock/cable. Try using a new one, or a friends.

Why does iTunes allow you to play music files that are in the trash?

I recently was up grading my music library why I got my new mac. I had 2 I tunes libraries on my computer and checked to see which one I was using and deleted the other music folder. While the folder was in the trash I played the music to make sure that I would not have a problem...... then I empted the trash. Problem was that after emptining the trash I could not play the music anymore. so my question is is there a way to set up a preference to not allow I-tune to not allow access to files in the trash.

If an iPod is set to automatically sync from a particular iTunes library, when you connect it to that iTunes library, every song on the iPod exists in the iTunes library. Therefore, if you want to play a song on the iPod using iTunes on the computer, you can just play that song from the computer's iTunes library, and not the iPod.
If an iPod is set to load songs manually (by dragging songs to the iPod in iTunes), then the iPod is NOT syncing to a particular iTunes library. The library on the iPod is separate; songs on the iPod may not be in the computer's iTunes library. Therefore, you can play songs stored on the iPod using iTunes on computer.
If your shuffle happens to be 1st or 2nd gen, they work differently from other iPods. They are always associated with only one iTunes library at a time, so you cannot play songs on the shuffle using iTunes on the computer.

Why does my iPhone 4s start playing music when I connect to a bluetooth unit?

I have recently bought a new 4s and have attempted to use it with my Automedia handsfree bluetooth unit in the car. The phone worked fine with my previous (Android) phone, but whenever I receive a call on the 4s it starts playing music through the bluetooth unit as well as the telephone conversation. This does not happen when I make a call. Any suggestions on how I can stop the music playing? (The phone wont let me swap to the music player to put the music on hold either.) Try to do a reset. Hold down on the Hold and Home keys for about 10 seconds until the  shows.
If that doesn't work, you should try to do a restore. A restore re-installs the operating system. Plug your phone in and go to the phone preferences screen in iTunes. There is a restore option. After restore iTunes gives you an option to restore from backup or use as a new phone. I would first try to see if the problem vanishes if you do the restore from backup option. If the problem still exist, you might want to restore again and opt for the use as a new phone. This is because maybe a file in the backup is corrupt and you cannot use the backup. This means all of your saved texts, photos, settings, etc will be gone. You can resync most of the data back if you have them on your computer (not your text messages though). So think twice before restoring as a new phone. Also, there is a risk that restoring won't resolve your issue so think twice. I can tell you that I have everything on my computer and I can get most of the data back even if I restore as a new phone but everyone is different.

I was eating breakfast one morning playing a game on my iPod and it slipped out of my hand and into my cereal bowl. So immediately I took off the case and put in a bag of rice for a day and a half to let it dry out. There has to be a power going through to charge it surley , it is ither of or on not low power? . Also daughter judy said '' i have tried ac adapter''. Maybe if you have another device e.g xbox with a usb port in try to connect through there

When I use my macbook pro running lion 10.7.2 to play music through itunes it shuts down after about 2 minutes, is there anything I can set to keep the itunes open and playing when not in use, this problem only started when I updated from snow loepard to lion.

I have tried that but it makes no difference at all, the only way I have found to get continues sound is to open and set a keynote presentation onto play and dimmed the screen using the function key and adjusting it manually so as not to kicker my screen, there must be an easier way than this.

IPod Shuffle 3rd Gen fully charged, blinks orange five times and I can't control it with the remote (I used 3 different remotes), volume is low and is iPod is unresponsive... any ideas on how to fix it?

The iPod was working fine, then after about 45 minutes of use i looked as if battery drained.
I charged it fully again (until green light) and then turned it on, green light and then orange light blinks five times...
I can't play /pause, or turn volume up or down from the remote... tried with original Apple earphones, and two Bose MIE2i (original and sports models)...
Any ideas of what can be wrong? or how can I fix it?
Already tried restoring it to factory settings.... it didn't solved the problem...

I have an iPod Shuffle, 2nd generation, and it keeps deleting all the songs in it. After putting songs in it, again, I never sync it to my computer to avoid any problems. I don't have any podcast tracks to avoid any problems, because I've read that sometimes the iPod gets confused or a conflict happens and it erases everything. If the iPod stops working cause the battery is depleted, it shuts off but also deletes anything in it. Whats the problem and how do avoid this problem other than keeping it charge? I think, if I ever charge the thing from a wall charger, it will delete the songs again.

There may be data corruption on the iPod's storage. You should probably try doing a Restore using iTunes. When you connect the shuffle, the button for Restore is on the iPod's Settings screen in iTunes.
The Restore will erase the iPod and reinstall its software, with default settings. If data corruption is the cause, the Restore should fix it.
