Why does the PCI-1408 we used can reach only 8 fps?

We are using IMAQ PCI-1408 to stud y the motion of an object in mechanics experiments. The maximum acquisition rate that we could obtain is just 8 fps. We are using a computer with Pent III 800Mhz processor and 128 Mb RAM. We even tried to use a code in from Costumer Solution (Digital Video Recorder with Motion JPEG, Lehnich H. et. al.), still we could not reach 30 fps. What could we have done wrong?

I assume your camera is capable of 30 fps.
First use MAX to verify that you can acquire 30 fps. Select your camera and use the Grab button. You should get full speed video display. The lower right hand corner should show how many frames per second it is acquiring and displaying. If it is only 8 fps, you have a problem with your hardware. If it is 30 fps, your problem is in the software.
The most common software problem is using snap, which is very slow. You should either use grab or a sequence to acquire your images. Most likely, you will want to acquire a sequence of images and analyze them after you acquire them. If you are using grab, your frame rate will depend on your loop speed. If you are doing analysis simultaneously, that is proba

Problem Summary:
PC locks up to a point that will not allow keyboard control. Sometimes the system reboots itself. This code works on Win2000 systems and XP systems with a different motherboard. I have the Hyperthreading disabled. I have also tried switching PCI slots to use different IRQ’s.

This problem is a little hard to pinpoint. When you
say this code works on a Windows 2000 and Windows XP machine do you run it with
the exact same card, or with another DAQ card? From the code you provided
it looks like you are using the device to generate a pulse train. Are you
able to run any other code that generates a pulse train? You might try
the code located here:

Are you able to perform other types of operations with this device, perhaps
analog input? If you only use Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX)
to create a pulse train, does your computer freeze? You can test the analog
input and pulse train generation through MAX by expanding Devices and
Interfaces >> Traditional NI-DAQ and selecting your device. Next
select Test Panels and either Analog Input or Counter I/O. What version
of Traditional DAQ are you running? If it is an older version, does upgrading
your driver help?
Finally, if you still have DAQmx installed (or if you can install it) can you
generate a pulse train in test panels?

Why does the screen unlock when using voice dialer on iphone 5S?

Here's the scenario I'm referring to: my iphone is in my pocket with the screen locked and headphones plugged in. I toggle the mic switch and use voice control to place a phone call. On every other iphone I have owned, the screen stays locked. On the 5S, the screen unlocks when the call begins, making the end call button or other phone buttons able to be activated accidentally by my leg.
Why did they change this feature on the 5S? The iphone 5 stays locked in the same scenario. Just updated to 7.0.4 and it still hasn't been fixed. Is there a way to fix this issue?

Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

Why does the iCal app on my MacBook Pro only have a 2-year archive? Where did everything before that go? And can I get it back?

I use my iCal as a daybook and every now and again need to reference events or occurences from several years ago. I tried to look something up from back in 2010 and the iCal on my MacBook Pro only has iCal data from Jan 1, 2011 onwards. Everything I've put in prior to that seems to have disappeared! I can't find anything under preferences that mentions archiving/storage. Can I change the setting so that this info is kept forever? And can I get my previous info back?

You can only sync with one computer. When you synced to the new computer it would have erased it and synced what was on the new computer.
You always need to have a backup, an iPhone is not a storage device.
When you get a new computer you need to transfer your library before syncing
If you don't have a backup you may be out of luck
The only thing would be if you're in the US and have access to the iCloud beta to reload purchases

HT5994 Why does the Keynote I am using require an upgrade the OS AND Keynote to open a document I created in this version???

I am using OSX 10.9.5, and Keynote 6.2.2 running on it.
Now it says that to open a document Icreated in that version of keynote on that system, I need to upgrade the OS AND Keynote. This is outrageous!
I want to take my time upgrading the OS, and Keynote. First, whenever I do an OS upgrade, some software I ely on doesn't work anymore.
Also, NONE of the new features in the OS, or Keynote are things that I want.
How does one avoid this?

I don't believe it will open a Word document, but Writepad allows for handwritten conversion of notes to text and then to email. Might help you some of the way...

Why does the message time / date use the original time sent?

Hi,
I notice that emails that are delayed come in using the time originally sent, rather than the time that they reach my server. This is unusual, since it can end up with a "new" message ending up well down the list from other messages sent more recently.
Is that the intended operation?
Note the following header - this shows up in my inbox based on the 2:57 creation time, even though it didn't even leave the originating server until substantially later.

That workaround only applies to an IMAP account where only headers are downloaded. Fairly uncommon really as that is not the default.
The received date is available in the pane always, just right clicking the headers and selecting it from the list is all that is required. Sorting by the order received however negates all the dates and maintains the strict order of mail received. However all of these things are on the View > sort order menu, including grouped by sort that beloved today yesterday last week sorting of Outlook users.
Funnily enough, I find everything about Outlook without exchange awkward and somehow limited, but it is an exchange client really not a general mail client in my opinion.

***** FYI: I found a fix for this mess. If you are getting this error, change the location of the itunes download folder to c:\itunes or something else that is "NOT a unc path "\\server1\users]%username%\mydocuments\itunes"
Try mapping it to a drive letter for it to get where it needs to be. The My Documents folder may be a UNC path if group policy has redirected the folder or if it was manually moved to a network share.
I figured all this out by running an Etherial packet scan on the computer that Itunes was installed on to see what kind of error was being thrown out by TCPIP on the network. I googled that error and it was hinting that the problem existed in the way applications use UNC paths instead of a local path or drive mapping to unc. Thus I changed the path in ITunes and the video downloaded without incident.

Have only seen the option to print back to front offered once or twice - why isn't it always there?

Please read this post then provide some details. What printer model? What operating system?
What are your settings for paper type? Duplex printing is not compatible with photo paper, transparency media or when printing full bleed (edge to edge).
What program are you printing from? Some programs remember their own printer settings regardless of default settings in the system.

If you have added the ringtone file correctly to iTunes, it will appear under iTunes 'Tones' library.
If you don't find Tones library in iTunes, go to iTunes menu EDIT/PRFERENCES under GENERAL tab, check the Tones Box under Library source to display Tones library in iTunes.
iTunes accepts only m4r file as ringtone and has to be less than 40secs.

If the unit has NEVER been jailbroke, first try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless... Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

On my MacBook Pro with Retina Display, Why does the "USB Devices Disabled Unplug the device using too much power to re-enable USB devices" keep coming up after I unplugged the usb device?

On my MacBook Pro with Retina Display 15", that I purchased a few weeks ago, started coming up with the following message on my desktop:
"USB Devices Disabled Unplug the device using too much power to re-enable USB devices".
I unplugged the device and the message still keeps coming up.
This is what I have done so far to troubleshoot:
I shut down the laptop. When booting up I pressed the command+option+p+r at the same time. It comes up with a menu to reinstall OSX, Get help online, Run Disk Utility, etc. I choose the disk utility and repair the disk and then restarted.
The message keeps popping up and I can't seem to get rid of it. Why does the message keep popping up even though I don't have any devices hooked up to the laptop at all? Any help to reenable my usb ports and get rid of the messaage would be helpful.

I talked to Apple Support and we at least stopped the bleeding, a little bit. These are the troubleshooting steps I did before I contacted Apple Support:
1. Reinstalled OSX
2. Restore the last known good Time Machine Backup.
This did not fix my issue, so I called Apple Support and they told me this:
1. Turn Power off.
2. Wait 15 seconds.
3. Plug in Magsafe adapter.
4. Wait 15 seconds.
5. Hold down the Shift+Option+Power Button for 20-30 seconds.
6. Turn Power back on.
Ok, this stopped the bleeding a little, but as soon as I plugged in a Apple USB Superdrive
and a Apple Mini Displayport to VGA Adapter. This "USB Devices Disabled" pop-up pops up like every 30 minutes now. At least, it is not constantly popping up after I close it, so I guess it will do for the temporary. Going to contact Apple support, later, though to see what else can be done.

If you have accidentally removed bookmarks then use "Organize > Undo" in the bookmarks manager (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks) to get them back.<br />

I borrowed the image below for an HDR workshop I ran at the 2010 PSNZ National Convention, to demonstrate a method of removing halos. You'll remember that halos were a serious problem with early HDR, and while the halos in this image were caused by over sharpening, they are perfect for demonstrating this technique.
It relies on the fact that halos so often tend to put a lighter tone between the two areas where sharpening is being applied. Whether that is the sky abutting a dark line of hills, or the rock and little tower as in this image. I've uploaded it at the size it was supplied to me at (about 2700 pixels wide). So
Click to open the full image, right click and copy, and paste into Photoshop.
Select the clone tool, and set its blend mode to Darken.
Try to sample on a line horizontal to where you want to clone, to give the best tonal match, and start cloning.
Because the sky is darker than the halo, it overwrites it. But the rock is darker than the sky, so it has no affect.
It works even better if you clone on a new layer also set to Darken. No masking, just Photoshop blend mode magic.
You can also fix the little tower. Use a great big brush — just remember to sample horizontal to match the horizon.
Back then I was using the same trick with CAs after forgetting to fix them in ACR, and having done too much work to start again after spotting the problem.
