Why hasn't Apple updated it's accounts management system to include account merging?

Is there a solid reason for not being allowed to merge accounts together? It seems odd Apple, a company that strives on simplicity, would disregard people having one account that handles everything form Mail to the App stores, instead of many different accounts.
I hope this is something that Apple will be working on in the near future.

In some folks' version of the world, you have plenty of ways. YOu have the aforementioned services, you have iCloud, all you need is an internet connection and you're good to go. And that works perfectly...if you always have the internet.
If you want more non-internet dependant ways, then the best way to let Apple know is to send them feedback. They don't monitor or respond to this forum (Beyond removing rule breaking posts) but they do at least log feedback. However, the lack of a file manager will always be an obstacle. There are some apps out there that have at least a pseudo file manager - as in the ability to move documents into multiple other apps. I have Readdle Docs which I can use to download and move things around with, but again, back to the internet or wireless.

  • Why does every Apple update require a restart?

I vaguely remember a time when OS updates didn't require a complete restart every time you installed one. Why is it the case now? I have had 3 updates in the last 3 days and 3 restarts. The last one was updates to Quicktime, iLife Media browser and iDVD. None of which I would consider a critical components. OK Quicktime might have something in it but I doubt it.
UNIX is a great because of it modularity and the ability to update components without shutting everything else down. That's what makes it a great server platform. Yes I know occasionally the kernel and other core components need patching and in those cases a restart is required but why oh why does every Apple update of late require a restart?
Whomever answers (preferably from Apple) please be as technical as you like. I would much rather a real answer than bull.

Well, you dont have to believe it but that's what's happening. Many updates don't modify critical system files, but those that do will require a restart. Not all updates to QuickTime, for instance, have modified critical system files, so they've not required a restart. However, the latest version does do this, so the restart is required.
Likewise with iLife, the media browser is a core utility that is shared by the system and many applications and it's installation will require a restart. There are other similar shared resources as well which can get updated from time to time.

  • Why won't Apple update its iPAD to send messages other than imessages?

Why won't Apple update its iPAD to send messages to phones with systems other and OS? I just purchased an ipad4 for my husband. This limitation is very frustrating. When I purchased and ipad3, I was told how to make the message go through as an SMS; however, this never worked. Had it not been for the fact that my husband has an iphone5 and getting an ipad with the same operating sytem simplifies things for him, it may have been better to get an Android tablet and switch phones!

I understand that, but it does have a message system, so it makes sense that you should be able to receive ALL messages via this system.  I do have a phone and I can get them all, but if I sit down at the ipad to check messages, I only get those sent through imessage.  Sorry, I'm venting and you probably can't do anything about it.  Apple needs to wake up and figure out that if it doesn't change its protocol on the ipad, then people will switch to another system that does. Hoping that someone from Apple sees this.

  • Why didn't Apple update it's 15-inch MacBook Pro Retina line up?

I plan to buy a new MacBook Pro Retina to replace my MacBook Air, I've been waiting for months to see if Apple update it's 15-inch MacBook Pro Retina line up, but on Spring Forward Apple did not update it, does any body know why and when will apple update it's line up? Also I will do a lot of coding and video editing with my new MacBook Pro, which model should I take, or what will suit me the best, the 13inch Retina MacBook Pro or the 15 inch Retina MacBook Pro?
Thank you guys for your answer, and sorry for my bad English.

Intel hasn't released the Quad Core Broadwell chips yet, Intel recently announced mid 2015 for these chips.

  • Why isn't apple updating time zones

Samoa has recently changed time zones, moving to the other side of the dateline. Both my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard and my iPad 2 are not displaying correctly. I am going there on business for two months and need my Macs to be correct. My PCs runing old XP were correct on the day of the change!!! What's up Apple. I am embarrassed, and this could generate more than just passive complaints from people who have invested in your computers. I have checked sys updates daily and NOTHING.
When are you going to catch up?

To clarify. IANA is a part of ICAN which has the TZ Atlas. That last update was in November 2011, which did include the Samoan time change. The problem is that Apple has not incorporated that update into their regular system updates, which is the foundation of this question and the problem that most users will have. I don't mind accessing the database myself, but it should not be the responsibility of the user to do so. Wouldn' t you agree?

  • Exchange User Account Managment Task locking AD account

User's AD account is locking within minutes. Windows logs show calling computer as the Exchange 2010 CAS server ( which is part of the CAS array).  We have disabled all mailbox features ( Active Sync, Mapi, OWA, POP, IMAP)  The
account still locks up within minutes and with same Windows event. There are no 1035 events on the CAS showing any brute force attacks and no other Logs referencing this event at all . The ISS logs show an old Samsung Phone that the user
had months ago and it broke. It doesn't make sense that it will  be blocking the account even when Active Sync is disabled for testing. I have gone ahead and blocked it anyway and removed it from the mailbox using MAPI MFC. I did check server
for Conflicker but did not see any thing odd in the registry. What can be causing this lockout ? Also the user does not have any tasks configured or passwords saved on the computer.

    Hello,
Ad replication has been tested with no issues.
The Test account locks up only if we intentionally enter the bad password. This was done to see that if our disabling of the Mailbox feature on the actuall production account would prevent locks due to request coming to exchange for that feature,
with a bad password. Apparently account will lock even if the mailbox feature is disabled. For example: if OWA if disabled for a mailbox entering the incorrect password for the account will lock the account.
So, currently we have done a work around; since the user has no pc to log in to - only uses Ipad and Iphone - we have changed the user name in AD. The account is not locking in but I am still seeing these eneteries in the IIS logs coming from his old phone
for the old username ( which broke and was trashed- this also tells us that if we revert to the actual username for the account it will lock). Also, disabling active sync for the user when user name was not changed did not have
any impact and request coming to active sync would still lock the account.
What should we do to prevent exchange from trying to respond to this request to active sync, from an old device ?   - the device was blocked on the account and removed through MFC when the issue surfaced but it did not fix the situation:
    Request on IIS logs:
    2014-09-18 00:01:07 10.97.10.20 POST /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync/default.eas Cmd=Sync&User=Domain Name%5CUsername&DeviceId=SEC1342789030523&DeviceType=SAMSUNGSCHI535 80 DOmain Name\Username 10.1.10.46 SAMSUNG-SCH-I535/101.403 401 1 1909 0
    Block Command Used:
[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Set-CASMailbox -Identity: "[email protected]" -ActiveSyncBlockedDeviceIDs: "SEC1342789030523"
Confirmed its listed as blocked:Get-CASMailbox Username | Select ActiveSyncAllowedDeviceIDs, ActiveSyncBlockedDeviceIDs
Note: ( Allowed devices are non since at that time we had removed all current active sync devices attached to the account to see if any of them were responsible for the bad request )
    ActiveSyncAllowedDeviceIDs                                  ActiveSyncBlockedDeviceIDs
     {SEC1342789030523}

  • Why hasn't Apple implemented a way to cancel "update all" ?

I have tried all the suggestions.  Turning off wifi.  Airplane mode.  Turning off the device.  Reset settings.  None of these things help.
I have been reading posts about this issue that go back YEARS.  Why has Apple not implemented a "cancel updates" ?   Why was any potentially lengthy process ever let out the door without a way to cancel it?

It is a technical support question.
There have been many people posting about this problem for years.
I have seen NO response from an Apple rep.  (Thank you for the feedback URL, I will use it)
None of the user-supplied ideas seem to have worked for me or any of the previous victims of this problem.
I did, however, find a way out.  Not to cancel, but to get it to finish.

  • Why is my Apple tv (very) Slow at downloading from my iTunes account (homesharing)

Why is both my apple Tv's (very) slow at downloading (buffer) from my iTunes account on my hard drive (home sharing)

You didn't clarify where you were accessing the content from computers icon or one of the other icons (using the cloud)
It's a coincidence. Verify interference using istumbler and try Ethernet
If you're using the cloud there are other things to look at

  • Why hasn't Apple created a way to find a lost iPod without using FindMyiPhone or iCloud?

I think that the majority of users, like me, don't know that there is even a way to find a lost iPod/iPhone until AFTER they lose it.  Appl should find some other way to find a lost/stolen iPod without using apps/iCloud.  Personalley, I find the FindMyiPhone app useless because it can only be used in wifi locations and through iCloud.  I don't even HAVE an iCloud account because I didnt think i needed it.  I had 16 gb to use so i assumed i didn't need the extra space iCloud offered.

  • Why hasn't apple set an official release date on the new ipod touch 5th generation?

I was really happy to preorder the new Ipod touch and thinking it was going to be shipped when the iPhone came out. But why do we have to wait until october ?

Correction the ANNOUNCED it on the 12th of september.
Nobody knows (except for apple of course). All it says on the ipod touch page that it ships in October so it could be any date. I predict that it is in the first two weeks of October but when it says buy it now instead of pre-order you know its about to come out.

  • Why hasn't apple fixed the hang problem with Mail

I just spent two days trying to make sure the computer wasn't failing only to find out the problem is with the Mail program... Apple. This has been a continuing problem. Where are you !!!!!!!!?

  • HT1212 Why hasn't Apple done anything about the easy iPad passcode hack?

If yours is lost or stolen, the passcode can be bypassed in seconds!   Don't believe me?   Google "ipad passcode hack" and find out how simple it is to do with a "smart cover" and a couple easy steps.
It seems outrageous that Apple would allow such an obvious flaw to go unaddressed for so long....

From an article posted on SecurityNewsDaily.com:
The flaw was first reported by Mark Gurman with 9to5Mac, who explained that the attacker who unlocks the iPad 2 will not have complete access to the iPad, but will be able to gain entrance to whatever was running when the device was locked.
There is a solution to keep your iPad 2 protected from the Smart Cover attack. In the settings menu under the "General" tab, disable "Smart Cover Unlocking" to prevent someone from using a Smart Cover to get around your password.

  • Why hasn't apple given a exact release date for the iPod Touch 5G?

I don't get why the iPhone and iPod couldn't have just been released at the same day. What are your thoughts on why they chose to release the iPod Touch 5G a month after the iPhone 5?

Well, that isn't going to work in my case... I've ordered the iPod Touch 5 as a replacement for my iPhone 4, since I rarely use mobile 3/4G internet, what with so many WiFi Hotspots available that are both faster and cheaper. The new iPod Touch 5 plus a simple cell phone will do fine, thank you very much, at about half the fixed and variable costs...
