Why is Firefox 4 so lame? I've loved Firefox since the beginning but v.4 is so SLOW I am now using Safari again. I deleted v.3 -- can I get a download of it still?

It appears that Firefox 4 is unable to find common high-traffic servers without a massive lag. Sites like The Washington Post. Facebook and Yahoo. These sites are taking almost five minutes to load in my laptop. It makes the browser useless to me -- and I constantly have to close out of it and go to Safari -- which I hate. But now I hate Firefox more. Whoever programmed this terrible software update has done for Firefox what the Coca Cola guy did to Classic when he introduced "New Coke". What a darn shame.

Maybe it is a problematic add-on? At the top of the Firefox window, select Help<Restart With Add-ons Disabled. This will start Firefox in safe mode. If you notice anything is faster, than chances are the problem you were having was an extension. Disable all of them, then begin enabling them one by one. Restart each time you disable an add-on. If you notice Firefox is slow after enabling a certain add-on, then, problem solved (hopefully).
Another thing you can do is install FasterFox, a helpful add-on that increases the speed of Firefox. Download here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/fasterfox-9148/

I had a folder that was a part of firefox in the book marks are called Recently Bookmarked. It has now disappeared and i would like to know how to get it back?

This folder was not one I created, but it appeared to be a part of the bookmark area. It save all recently saved book marks and was called "Recently Bookmarked". I used this feature last night and this morning when I went to use fire fox, it is gone.
I tried restarting Firefox and it still has not fixed the problem. My question is, How do I get this feature back or how do I create a folder where everything I book mark goes into the folder until I can sort the book marks into the proper folders? thank you for your help

Can you start Firefox in [[Safe mode]] ?
You can also do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.

Hi, original poster here. I did not realize this would generate more discussion so I never checked back. I still had my warranty, so I took it to the store and got it repaired. The original problem I had was a screen with this icon flashing when I attempted to boot it up:
When I took it to the store, they told me that my computer was unable to communicate with the hard drive. I had this same problem three times in two months where this screen reappeared. Each time I went back to the store and they said the cause was different, but they were all hardware issues that physically made it impossible to communicate with the hard drive. After the third time, they simply replaced my laptop and I haven't had the same problem.
So in short: The reason you can't reinstall or move anything when you encounter this screen appears to be because nothing can communicate with the hard drive in the first place. You can't reach the disk or anything on it. So I don't believe it's possible to do anything besides take it to a physical store and have it fixed.

All the info on the jump drive is the stuff I was working with before the iMac went south (it's old, early 2009) and I cannot find some of the software to open some of the files. The software on the older iMac needs some of the apps and Yosemite will not open them. AM I still out of luck?
