Why is firefox showing websites cached that I never visited?

Today my wife received a cold call from a heater/ac guy. She gave him my number and told him to call me. When I got home I searched his phone number on google. Several options showed up and it showed that each of the links for the first 2 pages of searches were cached on my browser but I never visited any of the sites. Has my security been compromised?

It might have been preloading the web page into cache for faster loading times. I'm not sure if FF does this by default, so i'm not certain.

  • Why does firefox show up as a plugin on volume mixer?

Why does firefox show up as a plugin on volume mixer? After updating a flash plugin into firefox (when it had requested me to update it), it no longer shows up as firefox in volume mixer. It now shows up as some plugin icon. I really don't understand this, and wish it to be the firefox icon again. What is going on and what happened? It names itself "Plugin Container For Firefox" What does that mean? It has been this way ever since, and nothing I have done has fixed this. Restarting, refreshing, reinstalling, clearing cache, etc. Can anyone think of something please? :(

I recently switched my website to https and now Firefox show my site at www.bizniznet.co.za as an untrusted connection. This can have an unwanted impact on my website and cost me clients. This does not happen every time I open my site as Firefox is my default connection to the internet.
I need this sorted out because this is a business website and it reflects badly. Could you please assist?

You need to install the missing EssentialSSL CA intermediate certificate.

  • Why does Firefox show different information than IE on a website

I went to this link and it is not the same on Firefox as it is on IE (Firefox shows Pre-forclosure, IE shows Off Market). What am I doing wrong? http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2458-Hopewell-Rd-Wentzville-MO-63385/2574631_zpid/

I see off-market in Firefox. It's likely the steps at [[Websites look wrong or appear differently than they should]] will help you.

If you don't know your password, don't know your security questions and don't have a rescue address or don't receive a reset email, you should contact AppleCare who will initially try to assist you with a reset email or if unsuccessful will pass you to the security team to reset your security questions for you.

  • Why is Firefox putting a cache folder on my memory stick

Every time I launch Firefox (windows 7) it puts a "Cache" folder on my USB memory stick, if the stick in installed.
Inside the folder is a "Firefox" folder with all sorts of folders under that.
If I close Firefox, I can delete the Cache folder, but it comes back if I relaunch Firefox
I want Firefox to put the Cache on my hard drive, not my USB drive.

hello gribbled, please try this: enter '''about:config''' into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''browser.cache.disk.parent_directory''' - right-click and reset that entry to the default value and restart the browser once.

  • Why is firefox add ons saying that I need to upgrade to 3.6 or 4.0 when I have 4.0 and I have checked it and verified that it was properly downloaded and installed?

Why is that after I have upgraded twice to 4.0 is it saying that certain add ons are only available on 3.6 or 4.0, and I am using 3.5 and I am not then when I search for versions made for 3.5 and try to add them it says they arent compatible with 4.0 which means I do have 4.0 and I am not liking it much anyway so this is really angering me.

  • Why does Firefox show a red screen briefly on startup?

Whenever I start Firefox on my laptop, it briefly shows a red screen before heading to my home page. Is this normal for the browser now or should I be looking at my hardware rather than the software?

That may be related to Firefox switching to hardware acceleration. If the screen buffer that is used isn't empty then you may see older content of it displayed until that screen buffer is cleared.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

  • Why does Firefox show a little triangle in the form field ?

I setup a form and my client wants rounded corners and a background-image for the fields.
It looks well in IE, but with Firefox i get a little white triangle in the left bottom corner of the fields.
I looked at all the CSS for the field for conflicting settings, but could not find any.
Can you help me with this ?

It looks that there is some problem with the CSS code for the bottom of those fields and that the bottom right corner is shown in that position.
Maybe you can post a minimized code example that shows this issue.

  • Why does Firefox keep telling me that it is using too much memory, (eg: 235MB) and I should restart Firefox?

Lately Firefox has been popping up a warning while I am on the internet saying, that "Firefox" is using too much memory. It suggests shutting down Firefox and restarting Firefox. It also told me how much memory that is in use at that time. It is usually about 235MB or more. What is normal memory use for Firefox to use while I am on the internet? Does high usage mean that some other person is trying to get into my computer?

You appear to have AVG installed:
    *See --> http://forums.avg.com/ww-en/avg-forums?sec=thread&act=show&id=173969#post_173969
From reading on the internet, it appears that when there is a spike in memory usage, AVG "interprets" that as a memory leak, possibly caused by malware. AVG could be incorrect concerning that assumption. Maybe they are being a bit too conservative about memory usage; just my opinion.
The decision is yours to turn off the "advisor" or leave it on.

  • Why does Firefox show up as a drive?

I'm still new to Mac so please explain this to me as easily as you can. So i just installed Firefox then i dragged the icon to the bar on the bottom of the screen. But when I want to use Firefox it appears as a drive on the desktop. It does this when i open Windows Messenger for Mac too but I don't know what to do to make it not appear as a drive. Please help.

    Hi Roboman,
Open the .dmg file containing the Firefox installer (the .dmg is the file you downloaded from Mozilla's webpage) - the drive image will mount on your Desktop. Drag the Firefox icon here into your Macintosh HD > Applications folder.
Trash the Firefox icon currently sitting in your Dock (click and drag to the Trash) and open Firefox from your Applications folder.
It sounds like the shortcut currently sitting in your Dock is currently linked to the Firefox installer inside the downloaded disk image - this is why it could be appearing as a drive on the Desktop. The .dmg needs to mount the drive image in order to run Firefox the way you currently have it set.
    Hope this helps,
    Steve

  • Why does Firefox continue to state that the Java Deployment Toolkit is known to be vulnerable.

The original issue with Java has been fixed yet FF continues to state the same warning which must be confusing at least and a road block for others at worst?
    There's a thread
    https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=636633
that 'discusses' this and the person Anthony Hughes, QA Mentor (:ashughes)
has said that the issue should be posted here (don't know why he wouldn't do that himself, seems very unhelpful as a 'Mentor').
So, I'm posting a question, which is really a request that the Devs remove this warning.
It has nothing to do with my OS and also doesn't need me to Allow you to install something to gather information, just install Java and check the Plugins...

Obviously the responder didn't check anything assuming that the responder had Java installed.
If Java was NOT installed on the responders system, then the responder didn't bother to check 'what you get' when running FF in Safe Mode....
When running FF in Safe Mode you get NOTHING in the menu bar and therefore you can't check Addons>Plugins to see if the warning exists.
If the responder had read the thread in Bugzilla@Mozilla the responder would have seen that the warning was added by the FF Support Team, not an Addon.
I suggest that someone read the other thread, possibly contact 'Hughes', install Java and actually look at the problem rather than providing useless answers to valid questions.
And the little checkbox indicating that I'm providing the requested information has been left as 'ticked' because the above response fits that criteria - Was this Useful? - No it wasn't.
