Why is it so laborious to insert table rows?

I have a table that is at least 1,000 rows in length. I've
used the shortcut Alt+A+I+R to insert a single table row, and I've
found that if I select existing rows, such as five or ten at a
time, I can insert that same number of rows in one action. However,
to insert five rows at a time, it takes about 3-5 minutes. To
insert 10 table rows at a time, it takes about 5-10 minutes.
Is there anyway I can eliminate the time lag to insert table
rows? I tried to create one new table of 1,000 rows initially, but
RoboHelp limits the table creation to 100 rows at a time.
thanks in advance,
ChristyG

Hi ChristyG
I think what you are seeing is something inherent with the
RoboHelp HTML editor. 1,000 rows is a pret-ty large table IMHO. The
RoboHelp HTML WYSIWYG editor just wasn't designed to handle things
that size. I'm just guessing here, but You probably also notice
that you can easily "type ahead" in this topic and it looks as if
you are typing i n s l o w m o t i o n.
So unfortunately, I'm going to have to say that no, there is
simply no way to "speed it up". The only possibility that comes to
mind is to use a different HTML editor for such topics. I have no
idea if Dreamweaver or other editors are up to that sort of task.
Perhaps someone with more experience with different editors can
comment on that.
Sincerely... Rick

  • Insert table row - moving Selection

    Have a table row selected and new data is inserted and the table rows are moving down. When first row is NOT selected and new table row has fired inserted, the selection row programatically moves down.
    However if the first row is selected, and new data is added to the first row, the first and second row are selected even tho its programatically should work, just like if the row selected was second, third etc...
    What's up with the first table row selected and new data inserted into the first table row to cause selection unions, even tho programatically it shouldn't?
    Thanks
    Abraham Khalil

    After the row being inserted, have you tried
    table.setRowSelectionInterval(row1,row2)?
    And in case it is the first row,
    table.setRowSelectionInterval(0,0);
    And you can even scroll to show the selection if you want by call
    table.scrollRectToVisible(getCellRect(selectedRow, 0, true));
    which will show the selectedRow

  • Acrobat - Insert Table (Rows/Columns)

    I need to insert a table over a plan (architectural plan) so that we can indicate start and finish dates for work activities.  Is any one aware of a plug-in facility that will allow you to create a table (Rows/Columns) of varying quantity/size? Similar to draw table in MS Word.
    Thanks

    The only way I know to do this is to create the table in a word processor or such. You could do this for all of the tables you need. Create a new PDF of the tables. Then use the object touchup tool (or object select?) to copy the table from the table PDF to the drawing. You may have to look for where it is copied and move it to where needed. The paste seems to work differently in different versions of Acrobat.

  • Inserting Table Rows in Acrobat 9

    I have a table that was created in MS Word, then converted to a PDF.  Is there a way to add rows to the table dynamically, depending on how much info the user has to fill out?

    You can create dynamic forms with LiveCycle Designer.

  • Why should we create index on  the table after inserting data ?

    Please tell me the Reason, why should we create index on the table after inserting data .
    while we can also create index on the table before insertion of the data.

    The choice depends on a number of factors, the main being how many rows are going to be inserted in the table as a percentage of the existing rows, or the percentage growth.
    Creating index after a table has been populated works better when the tables are large or the inserts are large for the following reasons
    1. The sort and creation of index is more efficient when done in batch and written in bulk. So works faster.
    2. When the index is being written blocks get acquired as more data gets written. So, when a large number of rows get inserted in a table that already has an index , the index data blocks start splitting / chaining. This increases the "depth" of the inverted b-tree makes and that makes the index less efficient on I/O. Creating index after data has been inserted allows Orale to create optical block distribution/ reduce splitting / chaining
    3. If an index exists then it too is routed through the undo / redo processes. Thats an overhead which is avoided when you create index after populating the table.

  • How to insert a row in the detail table of a treeTable (master/detail)?

    Is there any small, working example with JDev 11.1.2.1 on how to programmatically insert a row in the detail table represented by the treeTable component?
    Please don't send links to this example http://jobinesh.blogspot.com/2010/05/crud-operations-on-tree-table.html , which does not work.
    Thanks.

    Erp, why do you keep giving the links to that example or the zip including the project of that example? I explicitly asked to not send any links to that example, which does not work with jdev 11.1.2.1.
    This is the exception from that one when trying to create a new record on the details:

  • Inserting Multiple Rows into Database Table using JDBC Adapter - Efficiency

    I need to insert multiple rows into a database table using the JDBC adapter (receiver).
    I understand the traditional way of repeating the statement multiple times, each having its <access> element. However, I am just wondering whether this might be performance-inefficient, as it might insert records one by one.
    Is there a way to ensure that the records are inserted into the table as a block, rather than record-by-record?

    Hi Bhavesh/Kanwaljit,
    If we have multiple ACCESS tags then what happens is that the connection to the database is made only once. But the data is inserted row by row.
    Why i am saying this?
    If we add the following in JDBC Adapter..logSQLStatement = true. Then incase of multiple inserts we can see that there are multiple
    <i>Insert into tablename(EMP_NAME,EMP_ID) VALUES('J','1000')
    Insert into tablename(EMP_NAME,EMP_ID) VALUES('J','2000')</i>
    Doesnt this mean that rows are inserted one by one?
    Correct me if i am wrong.
    This does not mean that the transaction is not guaranted. Either all the rows will be inserted or rolled back.

    Sumit

  • Insert Tables is not working DW MX

    The insert table option does not bring up the insert table dialog box and will not insert a table.  Does anyone know why or how to fix this.  I am using Dreamweaver MX on Windows 7.
    Thanks,
    Judi

    CS6 is definitely the way to go. I highly recommend it.
    I have only encountered one bug with the download version, (which also affects the Cloud version) and it relates to Photoshop slices, exported as DIVs and CSS (or tables), and edited in DW to have image rollovers.
    In CS5.5 and all previous versions, Dreamweaver could automatically assign a new image name to slices as they were removed, one at a time, and new rollover images added back. CS6 can only achieve this if every intended rollover slice is removed at the same time. So if you've got a navigation bar with 12 different images you want to replace with their counterpart rollovers, in CS6 you would have to remove all of them at once, and then remember the names of each image, where each one goes, as well as there respective alternate text.
    The workaround is to manually type in a new name for each image pair. Not a big deal, but I wondered why, after so many years, this capability disappeared.
    So I filed a bug report with Adobe. I was contacted about it, and even created a video for the Dreamweaver Team rep, showing the workflow issue. 5 months later, and it still has not been fixed.
    But like I said, it's not a big deal.

  • Why insert a row will cause a sort (it can be saw from autotrace)?

    When I simply insert a row into a table, I could also see there is a sort in memory. But why insert need a sort?

    At a guess...
    First execution makes a number of recursive calls - that'll be SQL run against the dictionary, and might well include one of your sorts.
    After that, probably 1 sort for the explain part of the autotrace output.

    Am unable to insert table and graphs into word document in labwindow/CVI? can any one help me ?

    Are you using the Word Report Generation instrument? You can find it in toolslib\activex\word\wordreport.fp under the CVI directory.
    The instrument comes with a sample project that shows how to include table and graphs in a Word document: see samples\activex\word\wordrpt.cws in the samples foder of your CVI installation.
    Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

  • Database trigger to insert duplicated rows on audit table

    Hi
    It is possible to insert duplicate rows (at the moment database generate PK violation constraint for one specific table) within an audit table ?
    Certain code like this is not working, always the whole transaction makes a rollback and audit table will be empty:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER USER.audit_TABLE_TRG
    before INSERT ON USER.TABLE
    REFERENCING NEW AS NEW OLD AS OLD
    FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
    declare
    V_conteo number(1) := 0;
    duplicate_record EXCEPTION;
    begin
    select count(*)
    into V_conteo
    from USER.TABLE
    where <PK conditions>
    if V_conteo > 0 then
    begin
    INSERT INTO USER.AUDIT_TABLE
    (<>)
    VALUES
    (<>);
    raise duplicate_record;
    exception
    when duplicate_record then
    INSERT INTO USER.AUDIT_TABLE
    (<>)
    VALUES
    (<>);
    raise_application_error(-20019,'Duplicated column1/column2:'||:NEW.column1||'/'||:NEW.column2);
    when others then
    dbms_output.put_line('Error ...'||sqlerrm);
    end;
    end if;
    end;
    END;
    /

    >
    Exactly this is my problem , one only transaction (insert into audit table and try to insert into target table), the reason of this post is to know whether exists another way to insert all the intent duplicate records on target table into one audit table, you right ,maybe I can add one date column and modify the PK on audit table but my main problem still happens.
    >
    Can I ask you why you want to go trigger route for this if your intention is only to capture the duplicate records? Assuming that you are on at least on 10gR2, you can look at DML error table. If you go this route, there is no need for additional overhead of trigger, code failures, etc.
    Oracle can automatically store the failed records in an error table which you could later on investigate and fix it or ignore it.
    Simple example:
    SQL> create table emp (empno number primary key, ename varchar2(10), sal number);
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into emp values(1010, 'Venkat', 100);
    1 row created.
    SQL> commit;
    Commit complete.
    Create error table to log the failed records
    BEGIN
          DBMS_ERRLOG.create_error_log (dml_table_name => 'emp');
    END;
    Now let's insert a duplicate record
    SQL> insert into emp values(1010, 'John', 200) ;
    insert into emp values(1010, 'John', 200)
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-00001: unique constraint (VENKATB.SYS_C002813299) violated
    Now use the log table to capture
    SQL> insert into emp values(1010, 'John', 200) LOG ERRORS INTO err$_emp ('INSERT') REJECT LIMIT UNLIMITED;
    0 rows created.
    Now check the error log table and do whatever you want
    SQL> r
      1* select ORA_ERR_MESG$, empno, ename, sal from err$_EMP
    ORA_ERR_MESG$
    EMPNO
    ENAME
    SAL
    ORA-00001: unique constraint (VENKATB.SYS_C00
    2813467) violated
    1010
    John
    200
    1 row selected.This will also capture when you do
    INSERT INTO EMP SELECT * FROM EMP_STAGE LOG ERRORS INTO err$_emp ('INSERT') REJECT LIMIT UNLIMITED;
    You can capture the whole record into the log table. All columns.

  • Why is an entire page of table rows duplicating in FrameMaker 10?

    I have a long table in one of my chapters in FrameMaker 10. The table is seven pages long, but an entire page worth of table rows is duplicated, so the table really only should be six pages long. The first four pages look like this:
    Page 1: Rows 1-7
    Page 2: Rows 8-16
    Page 3: Rows 8-16
    Page 4: Rows 17-28
    The headers and footers are completely unaffected. All of the index markers in the table rows are also duplicated, so all of the index markers on Page 3 are also showing up in the IX file. I’ve combed through the file for unresolved cross-references, but I can’t find any. Also, if I insert a blank row on Page 2, the set of rows is no longer duplicated. If I highlight the entire table, Page 2 does not appear to be highlighted. I can’t select or edit anything on Page 2.
    I’m absolutely mystified about why this is happening. Any insight on what is causing this set of phantom rows to appear?

    Hi,
    I noticed this problem several times in the past years. MIF-washing always helped, but sometimes the table rows duplicated again.
    With FrameMaker 10 I did not notice this bug yet.
    Best regards

  • INSERTED Table - When it gets populated with single or multiple rows?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to create a trigger which then insert to a table. i'm wondering when does the INSERTED table gets populated with single or multiple rows?
    Should I always assume that the INSERTED Table will contains several rows? What does the scope of the INSERTED table in the trigger, isn't based on the user session?
     The reason why i asked this is because as far as i know inserted table may contain several table when the trigger fires which is why I use cursor to insert  records in the table ( there's a behind why i use cursor).
    But if the inserted table will only contain a single record during the session of the trigger then i can avoid the cursor.
    Thanks.

    But since we control the transaction process and we know for a fact that user will only be able to save a record one at a time, do we still expect multiple rows? I just want to have a clear concept on the INSERTED table.
    ...and then the DBA or someone else sees fit to enter a number of rows directly from a query window. And don't laugh. That is bound to happen sooner or later.
    However, just because this can (and will) happen does not mean that you need to handle it on equal footing with the normal case user entering data through the application. What you cannot permit yourself to is to drop the DBA case on the floor, that is write
    the trigger as if there would either be single-row inserts and produce incorrect results for multi-row inserts.
    But, yes, allowing yourself to use a cursor, if you want to reuse the existing stored procedure is feasible. That is also the more drastic solution suggested by Tom to add an explicit check that disallows multi-row inserts.
    Finally, permit me to comment on this:
    Additionally, it's  difficult to use the code below as i need to pass the identity id of tbl_A to tbl_B
    You can use the OUTPUT clause to capture the values, but that requires that you have something you can map the identity values to in the columns you insert, and this is not always the case. However, there is a lot simpler solution to the problem: don't
    use IDENTITY. IDENTITY is one of these over-used and over-abused features in SQL Server. You need it when you want to support high-concurrency inserts, because rolling your own requires a serialisation point. But with a moderate insertion frequency, IDENTITY
    only gives you headache.

  • Can not insert a row to a table from Oracle DBA Studio

    Hi,
    I try to use the Oracle DBA Studio to create a table and put some test data in it. Here is what I found:
    I start Oracle DBA Studio on the client machine by connecting to an Oracle server 8i (8.1.7). I create a simple table called Test with two columns: one is USER, VARCHAR2, 10; and the other is USER2, CHAR, 2. After that, I right click on the table name and select "Table Data Editor" from the popup menu. The table editor window shows up. I type in the value 'AA' and 'BB' in the grid of two columns. Then I click the Apply button. An error message box popped up:
    ORA-00928 missing SELECT keyword.
    I click Show SQL button. The SQL statement is as following:
    INSERT INTO "TASYS"."TEST" (USER ,USER2 ) VALUES ('AA' ,'BB').
    I copy the statement to SQL Plus and run it. The same error is generated. But if I remove (USER, USER2) from the statement, it inserts a row without complaint. In other word, the database will not allow to insert if individual columns are list. I realize something must wrong with the new server and client installed and could not figure out what happening. Hope someone can help.
    Thanks.
    null

    I am not sure, but could it be that USER is a keyword or predefine word. Check Oracle'slist of predefine/keyword

  • Dreamweaver CS4 Insert Table button does not work.

    I recently upgrade from an older version of Dreamweave to Dreamweaver CS4. But now I have a problem with inserting tables.
    They have the dropdown on the top right for Classic, Coder, Coder Plus and so on. I was using classic and everything was fine, then all of a sudden if I try using the Insert Table button from the Inserts tab, it does nothing. If I right click on the button, then click on the button it works, and if i switch to any other view it works. so then I used Coder and it was fine, but then again it stopped working. So I switched to Coder Plus and it was fine for a few more days and then it stops working again. I have rebooted my machine, closed out of DW and nothing seems to fix it. I just installed all adobe software updates and there was nothing in the update that fixed the problem. Does anyone else have this issue and if so, how do I fix it?
    I have searched google and I can't find anything. I can keep switching views but one day soon if it continues, I'm going to run out of views and Its such a habit to use the button instead of the Ctrl+Alt+T shortcut.

    try the following
    Recreate Dreamweaver CS4 Configuration and registry
    - rename the configuration folder to any name. (just add any character I suggest)
    C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\Configuration
    - recreate the registry folder
    Start > run > regedit
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Adobe>Dreamweaver>10. Rename 10 ex: 10_old
    maybe you can post your specs here for more specific troubleshooting. Cheers!
