Why is my lightroom not downloading. Just sitting and spinning for 30 minutes
Why is my Lightroom install just sitting and spinning for over 30 minutes? Not downloading
I decided to back up my photos to an external drive just in case my
computer doesn't turn on one day. I backed up the catalog to my hard
drive, was this wrong of me to do?
Backing up your catalog is never a bad idea. In fact, you should do so frequently. BUT, don't confuse backing up the catalog with backing up your photos. The photos are not "in" the catalog which is nothing more than a big ole' list of information about your photos - where they are on the disc, what edits you will want done to them when it comes time to export them, what tags or collection memberships are associated with them, etc. - but the photos themselves are in whatever folders you put them into.
If your original catalog file got moved or deleted, LR will give you a notice that says something like, "LR cannot find the catalog. Do you want LR to make a new catalog?" If you "OK" this, it will create a new empty catalog. If you then reimport all your photos they will be without edits (or more precisely with default edits). What you need to do is to either find your original catalog on your hard disc (a file that has the extension .lrcat) or copy the backup that you made back to somewhere on your internal HD. Then double-click on the .lrcat file and LR will open with the catalog that contains all your edits.

Mountain Lion app not downloading, just sits in the dock 'waiting'.
Hi everyone,
A few weeks ago I downloaded the mountain lion software from the app store. However, the download just sits in the dock 'waiting' and doesn't download at all. It eventually disapears from my dock and tells me that there has been an error. I have emailed and rang customer support, however, I get passed on to different departments with each staff member saying 'this isn't what our department should be dealing with'. I have been told that it is to do with my internet provider (BT), but when I took the iMac (2010) back to university where I have a different internet provider, it still didn't download! (My iMac has got all the requirements for Mountain Lion).
Any help will be much appreciated as I am really getting no where with customer support.
Thanks!Any help in this thread and the link posted by Zlig within it?

Why cannot I connect my Ipad again to Wifi and why has all my emails and contacts been deleted?
Why can I not download ios5 and my computer says it has run out of time? Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set
to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your
updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow
Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
* Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version)
* Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs, then add it back. For detailed instructions, see

HT1933 App will not download just blue circle spinning?
Had trouble when trying to download several apps same thing happening. At the same time I had trouble with my Apple password and had to change it now it appears that I'm locked out because no matter what program whether it's a purchase or free you push me the correct button and there's just a blue circle it spins.
Hi there thebigeagle,
You may want to try force closing all open apps and resetting the device as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

I have a MacBook Air running MacOS 10.6.8 and am using FireFox 3.6.17. I get an auto upgrade popup suggesting that I upgrade to 3.6.20. However, when I select to perform the upgrade, the download box comes up and acts like it is downloading, but it never actually downloads the upgrade. I tried version 4.0, but that didn't work right, so I would like to say with version 3.6, but would like the latest upgrades if possible.
Ran the OS X verify and repair util it fixed a fair few permission issues, then tried to add in a 2nd sample in logic - re-indexed still showing the first initial sample.

I've searched the forums for two days, and I can't find anything that seems to fix the problem. When I launch iPhoto, it says it has to upgrade the database. It goes through that process, my sidebar populates with all of my albums and whatnot, but the photos never load. iPhoto just spins.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. The crash report from me force quitting is below.

i have windows 7, the internet connection is perfect, i use other computers with no problem loading pages. With this pages take forever to load, worse then if i had dialup. I think internet explorer is the same, but i don't use it and it's very out of date. I tried a system restore, it worked for a day then back to the same thing. Pages take minutes to load, any page. some time out. i don't know what to do next, i've cleared history, cache, cleaned the computer up not sure where the problem is or what it is.

My computer is an iMac that was made in late 2009, and was purchased by me in 2010. It has a 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. I have more than 800 GB of storage available. Last week I installed the Yosemite OS. I'm having trouble with the upgrading of iPhoto. When it says it's upgrading the database, it never finishes. I've started the process a few times, and the progress line always gets to the same place when it sits and spins for hours at a time without any more progress. I thought about putting some of my 10,000 + pictures on discs to see if that would help, but I can't open iPhoto to get at them. Would that help, anyway? My son thinks this computer is too old to accept all updates. The hard drive was replaced 2 years ago.
Thanks for any help.Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Safai will not download a site I want. Why not?

You mean the Poker site? I assume that you can open the web site. However, I think that you are trying to download a .exe file - a Windows file that will not work on the iPad anyway. If you have another app that will "try" to open the app, Safari will go through the motions of downloading the file, but you can't use the file anyway.
You can download some types of files with other browsers, but that .exe file is not going to work on the iPad at all. Is that what you are trying to do? -
Why are my apps not downloading?
Why are my apps not downloading? They just sit there waiting and I keep getting an error saying that my purchases cannot be downloaded at this time and to try again later. I have tried logging out and in, and rebooting but neither has worked
Same problem here. Not able to update any apps or to download new purchased music. Doesn't work on iPad, iPhone, or iTunes. Tried with 3G download rather than wifi on the phone and iPad. It still hasn't worked. I changed me credit card, but without success.
The store is currently broken for some users, maybe all. -
Why does firefox say this not a trusted site and that legitimate businesses are trusted by Firefox
Hi,
One of my partners in New York just sent me an email to say that when he went onto our site www.101BusinessInsights.info a huge banner appeared on his screen saying " this not a trusted site and that legitimate businesses are trusted by Firefox"
Please can you advise why this is so and what can be done to make sure this does not happen.
Kind regards, Andre Jankowitz

Why did my contacts not download to new iphone, everything else did?
why did my contacts not download to my new iphone via itunes ? everything else did. with my favorites only numbers transferred not names.
For the Contacts (I'm waiting my new 5s) I'm using the free App "MyContactsBakup" (or MCBakup), it works just fine on my iPhone 4.
It works for pics too I guess. It is reliable, it process and send a file attached to a mail with all your contacts (pics, etc.). You open the attachment from your iPhone and add all the contacts again.
Easy and effective, I'm happy with this. -
Creative Cloud is taking too much time to load and is not downloading the one month trial for Photoshop I just paid money for.
stop the download if it's stalled, and restart your download.

I can't remember exactly what I did. I do know that when I started it up, I couldn't find the Setup Assistant on the hard drive,
No, once a user has been created, you can't run Setup Assistant (without erasing and reinstalling).
What do you recommend for fixing this?
Here's what's happened:
When you first start up a Mac and create the first user account, OSX assigns it UID (User ID) #501. The next one gets #502, etc. Those UIDs (not the user name) are what control permission to files.
You can see those numbers via System Prefs > Users & Groups; click the padlock and enter your Admin password, then select an account and right-click it, and select Advanced Options. Do not change anything on that window.
So . . . assume your old iMac had a user 501 with the data you want; it's identified that way on the backups.
When the Apple Store started up your new Mac, and created their account, it became #501.
When you used Migration Assistant to transfer the 501 account from the iMac's backups, OSX copied everything there "as is" except it had to change the 501 to 502.
The new 502 account has all the right permissions to things now in it's home folder, but the backups belong to user 501.
Have you added much to the Mac since you did the migration? Have you done any new backups? If not, while it's a bit of a hassle, one fix would be to create yet another user account temporarily. Make it an Admin account. Log on to it and delete all the other accounts. Then migrate the accounts from your backups; this time there won't be a conflict, so OSX won't have to change the UUID(s).
But if you have done new backups, this won't work, since Migration Assistant automatically uses the most recent backup. There's a way around that, but it's a bit (or more) tedious.
Clear as mud?
