Why is OC4J changing the name of my cookie?

My application includes a servlet filter. In that filter, I am setting a cookie to track some data back on the client. The name of the cookie is "ibms_user" and I post a code snippet below. The problem is that, when it gets back to the browser, the name has been changed to $OC4J_ENCODED_ibms_user.
Here is the code snippet:
public void doFilter(ServletRequest request, ServletResponse response, FilterChain chain) throws IOException, ServletException {
//Convert the Servlet objects to http objects
HttpServletResponse res = (HttpServletResponse) response;
res.addCookie(createIbmsCookie(req.getUserPrincipal().getName(), false));
HttpSession session = req.getSession(true);
. (other, irrelevant code)
Cookie c = new Cookie("ibms_user", "some value");
c.setPath("/");
c.setDomain(".jpl.nasa.gov");
c.setMaxAge(-1);
//Add the cookie to the response.
res.addCookie(c);
//Pass on to the next request
chain.doFilter(req,res);
There is a known issue with the code above, in that the cookie is getting set before the call to doFilter(). Regardless, I don't understand why the name is being changed.
To complete the picture, you should know that the application is setting up to authenticate against OID and uses OracleSSO (at the web server level, not javasso). The version of OC4J is 10.1.3.3.1 on Solaris 9 (64 bit SPARC).
Thanks for any hints,
Ara

Hi,
this question should be posted to the OC4J forum or the application server forum, not JDeveloper

  • Why can't I change the names of my states in my symbol?

    For some reason, Fireworks won't let me change the names of my states in my symbol.
    I double click on the state name in the states panel, and nothing happens.
    It works fine for normal "non-symbol" pages.
    Can you normally change the names of states in symbols?
    Any ideas why I am having difficulty doing so?

    Thank you SO much! Funny thing, I didn't even notice the tiny folder icon at the top of the info window until I saw it in the screen shot at the beginning of that article.
    See, I have begun changing the icons of the folders of digital scrapbooking alphabets I have (screenshot below). Now it will be so much easier to scroll through my hundreds of alphas and choose one, because I can SEE them without going in and out of each folder.
    A million thank yous!!!!!

  • How Do You Change The Name Of A Note? And Why Do Notes Show In The Inbox?

    I created a note and can't change the name of it. Also why are the notes showing in my inbox?

    I'm not sure about a name change but they show up in your inbox when you have the option checked in Mail>Preferences>Accounts tab>Mailbox Behaviors tab.
    Select your account on the left of the screen if more than one.
    Hope this helps

  • How do I Change the Name of My MacBook and Why was it Changed after the Upgrade to Yosemite?

    Hi everyone,
    I upgraded my MacBook Air (2012) to Yosemite a few months back and it changed the name of my Mac from "Alan's MacBook" to "Alan MacBook Air (2)." I simply want to know how to change it back to the original name. Also, why was it changed in the first place after my upgrade to Yosemite?
    Thank you so much!!!
    Alan

    This was a common bug in Yosemite. Follow dwb's instructions but also restart your router. Make sure you're running OS X 10.10.2 since it was supposed to have been addressed with that update.
    I have heard allegations regarding simultaneous use of both Wi-Fi and Ethernet (or equivalent adapter, considering it's a MBA) but can find no justification for them, and I never personally observed any correlation to it. It's perfectly acceptable to use both.

  • Same question for the "2 iPhones in one account".....How do I change the name.  My iPhone is showing my wife's iPhone name when I am syncing it.  Why is that?  I know about using one iTunes account....But how do you change the name w/o erasing your data?

    Hi....How do you change the name?  When I sync my iPhone, it shows my wife's name on it?

    Unfortunately it is not doing it....
    Let me give more details..We have 3 iPods and 2 iPhone4....I recently purchased the iPhone4 and when we connected it..It was already reading my wife's iPhone4..We went to the Apple Store at the Grove today and was told to de-authorize the system and connect my iPhone4 back and I should be able to change the name.
    Nothing happened..Right now, I clicked on RESTORE settings...and it is uploading a new iPhone update.

  • How can I change the name of my home directory?

    When I first set up my Macbook Pro a year ago, I put my first and last name. I didn't like this and later changed the login name to just my first name, but the "home" directory is still listed as my full name on the side panel in Finder windows. How can I change this, it won't let me rename that.

    You should have experienced that same effect when you managed to change you login name. How did you change your login name?
    I imagine that has something to do with why everything 'disappeared' when you changed the directory name.
    It's actually pretty simple to change the login name, and it doesn't affect files at all.
    All I did was change the field labeled "user name".

  • I have changed the name and password for my Time Capsule and now the Time Machine will not connect

    Mac Book Pro
    1TB Time Capsule.
    Yesterday I changed the name and password on my time capsule and also the name and password of the wifi network as I was having problems with the speed of the internet when using Safari on any of my devices (1 Macbook pro, 1 macbook air, 27" iMac, iPhone and iPad) all other internet services were working fine (email etc.) This seems to have solved the problem.
    However, since then, my time machine back ups will not reconnect and there is no option for me to reconnect to the existing back up for my macbook pro.
    When I enter the time machine preferences it shows as below that there are no back ups.
    Then, when I go to select a drive to use which should be the MacBook under the Backup disks the only option is for me to Remove Disk...
    So, my question is, how do I reconnect to an existing Time Machine back up for my MacBook pro as I really do not want to erase and start all over again.
    Warning - In my naiveté, I did click on the MacBook in 'Available Disks' but I got the impression that it was about to start a whole new back up and not work with the existing one.
    (And does anybody have an inkling as to why there was a problem with Safari on all my devices? I downloaded Google Chrome and that worked fine).

    Simply reset the Time Machine.
    See A4 here http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
    You can then mount the TC disk in finder after you reboot the computer.
    You should be able to reselect the TC disk and then it will say it is going to start a new backup.
    Ignore this.. when the TM actually loads the TC disk it will discover the existing backup and continue the backup.. but it will give no hint until it actually starts that it won't start a new backup. you just have to believe it won't.. and mostly it works..
    Please also install the widget A1 so you have some idea what TM is doing.

  • I can't change the name of calendars in iCal 5.

    I have tried clicking on the "calendars" button in the top left hand corner and selecting the calendar and re-typing it there, but it immediately reverts back to what it was. I have also gone to "get info" and changed the name there but it also immediately reverts back. Thanks for any insight!

    With the help of tech support, I discovered that you cannot have two calendars with the same name.  That was one reason why I was having trouble renaming my calendars.
    Make sure each of your calendars has a unique name.
    PS,
    The other possibly related problem was that my iCal data was corrupted.  That required a different fix.

  • Is it  possible to change the name of a photo in one album without changing the name in other albums?

    I use the photos in events to create more than one album and I want to use a unique name in each album. When I change the name in one album, all instances of the photo also change.

    Correct. Albums just reference the photos in an Event - it's why a pic can be in 50 albums and use no extra disk space. So, change one and you change all. The alternative is to duplicate the pic in the Event.

  • Lion does not have "Save as." How do I change the name of a Keynote presentation?

    How can I change the name of a Keynote presentation in Lion since it does not have "save as'?

    This is so lame it feels like MS Windows. From a simple one step process it now requires first to duplicate, then ito browse back to the folder you were working in and then finally to type in a new mame. Why not just leave save as?????? This is getting so very anoying ...... just like windows with its never ending quetsions. Apple please bring back Save as.

    I am having this problem.  At first with the new iPhone 5, and then with the iPad 2.  I am not sure why this is happening.
    My gut feeling is this is an iO6 issue and here's why -
    The problem mainly occurs with apps.  I have about 150 apps, and when I plugged in the phone, iTunes went to sync all of them.  The process would hang up after about 20 - 30 apps were loaded onto the phone. I could tell where about the process hung up because the apps on the phone showed up as "waiting".
    Then on the iPad 2 I plugged in to sync and saw there was a huge "Other" component in my storage.  It required me to restore the iPad 2 from backup.  With this restore the same issues occurred - putting the apps back on the iPad would hang up.  The videos on the iPad also got stuck - maybe after about 10 hours of videos transfered iTunes crashed.
    My solution has been to soft reset the device, restart Windows, and continue the process until it's complete.  This is remarkably inefficient and time-intensive but everything works with patience.
    I have been wondering if others have had these same problems.

  • How to change the name of a clone?

    I cloned in order to upgrade to Tiger.
    How do I change the name of the clone?
    I was told this: change the computer's name from the Sharing pane of System Preferences.
    I went into the hard drive with the clone, opened system folder>library>preferencepane folder, clicked on sharingpref.pref pane and got a message saying "you cannot install the preferences pane folder because it already exists"
    What stupid thing have I done?
    Thanks!

    geo3
    What stupid thing have I done?Probably nothing, but what exactly do you want to rename? The "clone", which is a disk volume, or the "computer name"? And if the latter, why?
    I have several volumes which are "clones" and they are named "OSX48", "OSX39" etc so I know which is which (my main system boot volume is just plain "OSX_4"). But at no time did I need to change my computer's name.
    You change the volume name the same way you change a folder or file name: click on the name until it becomes an editable box, and type your new name.

  • Trying to change the name of 1 file

    I have searched the topic and have not found a solution that works for me,
    I am trying to write an AppleScript that will change the name of a single file from path:old.txt to path:new.txt
    I have tried
    tell application "Finder"
    set name of file "work.txt" to PartA & PartG & ticker & ".txt"
    end tell
    among others and always either receive an error message, access denied or unable to set old file name to new file name

    You're missing the point.
    set name of file "work.txt" to PartA & PartG & ticker & ".txt"
    When you set the name of the file, the Finder needs two things - the original file that you're trying to rename, and the new name you want it to take.
    In your revised script you're specifying the existing name (not path) of the file you want to change, and specifying its path along with the new name. That's the wrong way around.
    Think of this command in the following manner:
    set name of (original file specification) to (new file name)
    Now, in the case of the 'original file specification' you need to provide enough information for the Finder to identify the file. You're just saying 'work.txt', but that is not enough (and that's why it's complaining). There could be a hundred 'work.txt' files spread around in different directories on your disk. How is the Finder supposed to know which one you want to change?
    A better format would be:
    tell application "Finder"
      set name of (file "work.txt" of path to desktop) to "ABC.txt"
    end tell
    In this way the Finder can absolutely identify which file you want to change (the file 'work.txt' that's on your desktop) and the new name you want it to take.
    Now, if the file is not on your desktop you can amend the script to include the relevant path, e.g.:
    tell application "Finder"
      set name of (file "work.txt" of folder "blah" of disk "disk name") to "ABC.txt"
    end tell
    This tells the Finder to look in the folder 'blah' on the specified disk.
    You can also do this by including the path to the file in the form:
    tell application "Finder"
      set name of (file "disk name:blah:work.txt) to "ABC.txt"
    end tell
    where you use : to delimit each folder in the path.
    Hope that helps.

  • Changing the name of Expenditure type name

    Hi All ,
    Is it possiable to change the name of the expenditure type , we've not made any transactions still to that expenditure type.
    Please advise.
    Thanks
    -RG

    Hi,
    Why don't you end date the old expenditure item and create a new expenditure item with new dates. In that way we are not impacting anything in the system.
    Hope this helps!
