Why is the Creative Cloud sucking the power from my battery?

Using Macbook Pro. Is this a Mavericks issue or a Creative Cloud issue. My CC CPU is always 10+ with all Adobe programs closed. Frustrating!

Okay, well I'm a previous customer with versions of Photoshop CS3, CS5 and CS6 - so where has the option gone for me to subscribe by the 31st December?
When I follow the link in my original e-mail, all I get is the same page on the web site that lists 8th December as the closing date.

My Creative Cloud icon is gone from the menu bar and the CC app will not open. I'm on OS 10.10.3. I've tried reinstalling and also various fixes suggested on this forum but to no avail. Incredibly frustrating to be paying monthly for a product that doesn't work.

    Click on below link :
OS X Mavericks: Enable and disable the root user

How to log in as root
Use these steps in Snow Leopard and later to log in as the root user.
If you are logged in, choose Log Out from the Apple menu.
If you are logging in from a list of usernames with pictures, click Other.
In the Name field, type: root
In the Password field, type the password you defined when setting up the root user account.

  • My creative cloud icon has gone from the menu bar on top right hand side of screen

the creative cloud icon is gone from the menu bar?  How can I get it back?

Sometimes too many open apps will hide it, but if it closed,
Restart the Creative Cloud app. Look for it in Spotlight.

Johnnyontherocks it is likely you installed an updated version of the Adobe Application Manager.  Remove all copies of Adobe Creative software from the computer and reinstall to downgrade the installation.

  • Why is the power supply for the Mini so big?e

Can anyone explain why the power supply / adapter for the mac mini is so big compared to the power adapters for the macbook? The processor and hard drive for the mini is the same as those for the macbook, so why is the power brick so much bigger? Just curious.

While I doubt anyone who knows for sure will be prepared to pop up and answer, I suspect the reason is two-fold: firstly that the supply is engineered for constant use, 24/7, where laptop supplies are not, and thus it is larger because the components are more rugged and over-specced, and secondly for lowest cost, since it is cheaper to engineer a larger product of this kind than a smaller one, due to the premium cost of the smallest narrow-tolerance components.

  • Why move to creative cloud?

I still don't understand why Adobe forcing us to move to Creative Cloud?
All those "benefits" that Adobe served us, is just a marketing trick.
Adobe said something like this: "All the newest updates and features are immediately available to the Creative Cloud users" This is the new benefit? Prior to Creative Cloud updates didn't exist? When Adobe release an update I don't see why "from the box users" also couldn't get them (updates) like Creative Cloud users? In both cases user must download the update (if she/he want to). Also, Adobe said something like this: "For Creative Cloud members updates are available immediately" - this is discriminating to the people who are for some reason couldn't/doesn't want to buy Creative Cloud membership, and who are using "from the box" Adobe software. Why is their money less worthy than the money of the people who are subscribed to the Creative Cloud? When I buy an car with the same interior and with the same engine but in different color than my neighbour's car, I expect to have the same car but in different color. Why that is not the case with Adobe? Those statements are perfidiously way to force people to register with Creative Cloud. I presume that CS7 (or some later edition) will be available only for Creative Cloud users and that Adobe will stop issuing "from the box" editions. Why Adobe won't give users the ability to chose where to spend their money and what to buy and how to use it (online or offline)?
"Every Creative Cloud subscriber have 20GB of storage available"!? Hey! How much HD footage we can store there? With 1-2 TB external HDDs that anyone can buy for 100-150$ Adobe offering us 20 GB of storage as a better solution? What is faster solution: HDD or Cloud service? "Files stored in the cloud are safer than those on user's HDD(s)"?! Anyone at Adobe heard for backup? I have a PC for about 20 years and still haven't any single problem with HDD malfunction. So, Adobe, please tell us what is the REAL reason why you want us to store OUR files on YOUR servers? Anyone can share their files with who ever they want using e-mail (for smaller files), and there is so many FREE web storage services, so why do we need to pay Adobe for something that we already have for free? I can use some free web storage to keep my files there and open them with current Adobe software, directly from network like from HDD, and they will be automatically updated as soon as I save them. Also I can access them from wherever I am and share them with who ever I want. So I really don't see why people buying this marketing trick called Creative Cloud?
Only REAL reason for creating something like Creative Cloud, as far as I can see, is to stop the piracy, and this is something that I really support. But I would really like to see that such a big company stop using those discriminating methods on their users!
I'm using Adobe Premiere from version 6 and After effects from the first edition so many years ago... For all those years, never cross my mind that Adobe might one day discriminate their users in such manner!
Adobe, please give us ability to CHOOSE from equal products - not from the same but different products (at the same time)!
    Thank you!

I'm not here to give a lesson in trade laws. Nor am I defending Adobe.  I'm just telling you that a publicly traded U.S. Corporation like Adobe, Apple or Microsoft must abide by the laws of the land in which they are headquartered.   It's the same for companies whose headquarters are in France, Germany, Singapore, Russia, Japan, etc...
I didn't talk about major updates. I talked about all updates 'cause Adobe said that all updates will be immediately available to the Creative Cloud users (only).
I think you're confused by the differences between a regular cycle update and a major product upgrade.   These are two different things.
Licensed users continue to receive all the regular cycle updates just as before.  And as before, they can't buy a major product upgrade until Adobe officially releases it.  Nothing has changed in that regard.   Perpetual License users still get the updates as they always have.
While it is true that Cloud users don't have to wait as long for major upgrades, it could be argued (and I would not disagree) that Cloud members are being used as "beta testers."  Some of the immediately released upgrades have been sloppy and less than successfully received.  I think that is one downside to this new policy and one which Adobe needs to address in coming months.
I also asked why all Adobe software isn't available for the "from the box" users? Why I can't buy Adobe Muse without Creative Cloud membership?
If "from the box" you mean a Perpetual License, I don't know the answer to that.  All I can say is Muse is a relatively new product.  Perhaps Adobe hasn't determined just how or where MU fits in to the Adobe product family.  Same goes for the Edge products.  You would have to ask Adobe about that.
Incidentally, after May 1st, "boxed" software will no longer be offered.  Adobe Creative Suite products purchased on a Perpetual License will be fulfilled by digital download only.
Creative Cloud users don't have the same opportunities. Adobe forcing users to move to Creative Cloud by giving them immediate updates, more software to buy etc.
It's called incentives and it is fundamental to good marketing.  You have something new you want people to buy so you give them some good incentives for trying it.  I don't have a problem with this.

  • Why does the light on my battery charger change from green to orange after a few seconds?

Why does the light on my battery charger cable change from green to orange?  The battery continues to accept a charge when light turns orange.

    Green = not charging.
    Orange = charging.
Note that if your laptop is pulling enough power (using CPU and GPU heavily) the light will turn green because the power adapter cannot provide enough power to charge your batteries in addition to keeping the system going.
In fact, you can drain your batteries even with the adapter plugged in with the 17 inch Macbook Pro if you push it hard enough, although I have not noticed this problem with my Retina Macbook Pro.

  • Why is the compatibility from CC to CS6 so poor?

Why is the compatibility from CC to CS6 so poor at times? I've never had more issues with backwards compatibility that with CC Illustrator to any older version of Illustrator (specifically CS6, which is *only* 1 generation removed.) This is pretty surprising as compatibility issues with non-CC versions of Illustrator weren't as frequent, or fraught with errors and issues as they are with CC. I figure it's probably a not-so-subtle ploy to 'convince' (strong-arm in a very unprofessional fashion) everyone to upgrade to CC and get their monthly fees. I'm really quite frustrated, and very disappointed in the non-friendly manner in which CC software interacts (or, rather, doesn't) with older versions.

A number of things, the first few that come to mind - opening CC files in CS6. Quite a number of issues with fonts (converting some fonts and fractions to outlines or a default 'box'), converting entire layouts to clipping masks, breaking layers apart and converting multiple artboard documents into multiple page PDF AI files (which is really weird) amongst other things...

Hi I am just now downloading Creative Clouds :-) as an upgrade from an old Creative Suite 5.5. Before that I hade a Creative suite 3 etc. Is it necessary that I keep all these old programs etc on my computer to make Creative Clouds work or is it better that I uninstall them? Kind regards, AnnaReet

It is not necessary to retain the older installations.  YOu might want to consider if you will have any need for them in terms of working with older files, but other than that you can probably uninstall them without missing them.

  • Powering the myrio from a battery supply

I am looking into options to power the myRIO from a battery power supply. The power requirements are easy enough, find an adequate array of battery cells to provide the voltage range of 6-16 V and enough capacity to run up to 14 W for a desired time.
My question is how to connect it to the myRIO. Is there a size spec for the barrel plug? Or it is a generic part? If I wanted to order a twisted pair barrel plug what size could I get?
My other idea is to use the cell phone backup batteries that connect to the USB on the phone. Could I power the myRIO though the USB port with a backup phone battery or do I have to power it through the barrel plug only?
Any ideas or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi SiuaW,
The barrel connector is 5.5 mm x 2.1 mm. The spec can be found on this Community Page under hardware question #6.
    Have a nice day,
