Why is the format of my posting on SDN forum getting messed up?

Hi,
I have a nicely formatted message in Word as usual but when I post it, or do preview, it gets messed up. This is the first time it is happening to me but I have seen other postings like that.
I don't think anyone will read such messge posting. Any help to get it properlyformatted as I post?

Yes, I agree that Martin is very courageous and we are lucky to have him on our team and in the community and advocating community needs.
But to your other point:
It seems sometime that you are working for a 20 staff startup and not a Software giant like SAP AG.
You know Olivier, historically SDN did start like a startup (with about that size of a team group as I recall). And I hate to have to remind us of this but sometimes when you are small you are much more agile, responsive, efficient. But that is also because in those early days the "platform" team (our SDN IT) was dedicated to our community needs only, although of course we were a comparatively small community back then.
To further be candid, there are certain elements that get lost or displaced when you become a big, successful community although you can be certain that there remain some of the "original" crew enhanced with newer excellent additions (think Laure, Martin, Moshe, for example).
And core values haven't changed: (connect, contribute, collaborate). But logistics certainly have changed and we all are painfully aware of the shortcomings.
It is art and science to maintain a healthy community as a community grows. From my life experience living in a co-operative (15 years) there are cycles to the life of a community and if a community doesn't evolve and change it eventually implodes.
A lot of its fate is in the hands of its members.
That means the participants are no less "responsible" than the governing body.
If the community "outlives" its purpose, it will shrivel and die.
To your "capacity planning" comment. When the community assets and capabilities were added- blogs to forums, wikis to blogs, thought was given to the environments that would (at the time they were selected) provide the best functions and services. Platforms, capabilities and demands for specific functions also evolve and change.

Why is the formatting in my Contacts list screwed up? The State in the address list is missing and "Netherlands" is added to all of my US addresses. This occurs after I sync in iTunes, but the Contact is listed normally in Outlook.

I am using Apple Mail. For some reason it is working right again. Who knows why!

This new versionof Keynot (6.1-1769) is very poor:
is very slow
missing fonts
changes the selected letters
change the formats of the presentations
Carousel animations missing
Please correct the defects before releasing a new version. (The previous version was much better).

Found the solution!
I must set the Formats in the CODEC to get the Format that I want to play with! I was trying to complicate too much!
The correct format class to is RGBFormat.

Ok, so you said you've already right clicked on each song and "created a MP3 version?"
If so sort the library's music by "Date Added (if it is not there right click on the other sort bars and add the column "Date Added". The mp4 versions are the ones in the playlist. You will have to find the newly added mp3s by sorting by Date Added. Hope this helps!

Why is the formatting missing from my html page created from a template?

Hope you can help me.
I've created a new template in dreamweaver - all good. When I preview the template page in a browser everything looks perfect.
But when I create a new html page from that template, even though the page looks perfect in design view, all the formatting is missing when I preview it in a browser.
The site settings were relative to the site root and I've changed that to be relative to the document (not sure if that should make a difference). Either way, it hasn't changed anything.
Any ideas?

If you have not enabled "Preview using temporary files" in your PREFERENCES then site root relative links will fail on preview. Why? Because site root relative links *always* begin with "/", and when the browser sees that, it (since it knows nothing about Dreamweaver sites) correctly looks for the path starting from the root of your hard drive, not the root of the DW site. When you enable preview using temp files, before handing the file to the browser, DW obligingly converts all root relative links to document relative links (which *will* work on preview) but to do that it must create a temporary file (there are other things that happen as well, like external files being embedded in the code for the preview, but that is not relevant to this discussion). The reason a temp file is created is so that these changes don't affect your saved file.
So, if you want to use site root relative links, and do previews of your pages, you must enable the temporary files in preview. There is really no downside to doing this except that you may occasionally see a curious file named xzys139(.html in your local file list - this is a temporary file that was handed to the browser for preview, and for whatever reason was not deleted. In fact, this can save your bacon sometimes because it gives you a 'backup' of that page to which you can revert in the event of something catastrophic.
In the larger picture, there is no benefit to using site root relative links UNLESS you are also using server-side includes. It will make your life a bit simpler if you do not use them.
Finally, having made those links in your template file with the site root relative option enabled, changing that option to document relative will only affect NEW links, not existing ones. This is why Ken asked to see the link in your template - it's because he knows that even though you have made the option change, that old link will not be affected and will therefore fail on preview (assuming you have not enabled the temp file thing).

Why does the "Format & Strip" function not return a number in the same format as "Format String"?

I am using the "Format and String" function in a vi with the "string" input wired to a string of type "0.9998,0.9899,1.0003,0.9995, (etc)". I have wired the "format string" input to a string constant "%1.4f". Irrespective of the format string, I always get a number out that is rounded to 2 decimal places. I have tried different number formats in the format string, and I have wired a 4d.p. floating point number to "default". I have also set the precision of the format string to 4 d.p. with no effect. Any suggestions (or is the output always rounded to 2 d.p.)?

If you are looking at the result in a numeric indicator, then the default setting is 2 places of decimal, that is displayed.
You need to right click on the indicator and select Format & Precision then change the Digits of Precision value.

We would be grateful if you could point out any errors in the list, but we do check.
The list does not claim features moved to the System are "missing". There are separate lists of added and changed features.
There are many people who claim to know what they are talking about but on closer examination it becomes clear they really do not know much about iWork, nor about the features they claim to have "found" in Pages 5.
I would be hesitant to claim that you were part of the beta testing of Pages 5 for 2 reasons.
1. Apple does ask you to sign a non-disclosure agreement
2. You then are part of the problem
Maybe, now you have disclosed that you were testing, you can explain how on Earth something so bad was released on an unsuspecting public, with no warning of what Apple had done and that it would alter/damage users' work.

Why does the format change when i share a presentation?

I develop a presentation in Keynote in my Imac. I then place it in a flash drive and pass the presentation to my MacBook. When I open it, all the fonts are changes, it has added bullets, the sizes have changes and many of the pictures are gone. I have the same fonts installed in both computers. How can I stop this?

I can't even see where that setting is.. for my information all the footage is from a GoPro so what I've had to do is convert them to .mov and Apple ProRes 422 now. Now when I have them in final cut the samples in 'All Clips' and in the time line look ok in till I hover over them and then they have the red hint again, they do how ever export the right colour now but this is going to make colour correction difficult

How to format code when posting in this forum

This may have been discussed in earlier messages, but I haven't seen it.
The engine that drives these forums accepts various tags. The one that can be used for preformatted text is the "pre" tag. Similar to html, you have the open and close above and below the preformatted text. The characters surrounding the tags are square brackets.
In the sample below I have added a space between the tag and the closing ']', so that Jive doesn't interpret it. You would want to omit that space :)

I need to upgrade my HD from 200GB. I would like to go as big as I can and would appreciate any experiance you've had. Could I go 750GB or 500 GB @ 7200 rpm. Yes you can do the 750 or 500, 5400 or 7200. Just make sure it is 2.5" SATA and 12.5mm high or less (there is at least one HD out there that is 15mm high and will not work).
Lion: I don't know that it matters much either way, just don't do them at the same time. That way, if there are issues, you have a much better chance of troubleshooting one major change instead of two.

If you have CC you get Edge and you are free to use it any DPS work you do, including Single Edition.

Why is the ios 8 download restarting every time it gets to a certain point?

i have been trying for the last three days to download the ios 8 update directly to my iPad Mini. Unfortunately it only gets as afar as 7 hours remaining because when I check to see if there has been any change shortly after, it says that the download has been requested once again and so it's starts ALL OVER AGAIN. Why is this happening!? Please help!!

Why does the phone dial pad disappear when my finger gets near the screen?

Phone problem - the touch dialpad works for the primary number called, but goes blank as soon as my finger gets near the screen when I try to enter an extension number. Air Gesture, Motion, and Palm Motion are all turned off. Why does this happen? How can I correct it?

Why does the eprint service on my HP Photosmart 7510 get disabled when it is powered off?

I bought this printer in January this year and I've had issue with the ePrint service not staying enabled when the printer turned off. Because of this I'm expereincing the following issues.
1. Efax is not working correctly. I can send faxes, but I cant recieve them. Also whenever I press fax on the printer it asks me to enable ePrint.
2. I can't print from my phone and other remote location.
3. The printer sometimes shuts down on its own and never finishes the shut down process.
4. When I check efax.com I can see the faxes we've recieved, but I can't see that any faxes have been sent.
5. I can see that faxes that were sent on the printer, but I can't see that anything has been recieved.
The printer is working great as a normal printer, but I kind of what to use all the ePrint services.

Since I could not check what version of the laterst firmware, I hope you don't mind doing the following in your printer:
Updating the All-in-OneFollow these steps to enable automated Web Services updates, and to update the product firmware.
Important : The HP product must connect to a wireless network with an active Internet connection to receive updates. However, the product does not need to be connected to a computer.
On the upper left side of the HP product control panel, touch the Web Services icon ( ). The product control panel displays the Web Services screen.
Touch Settings . The product control panel displays the Settings menu.
Touch Product Updates .
Touch Check for Product Updates Now .
Wait for any updates to download and run.
If you using Win XP or later please run this tool to see if you get any errrors Click here
