Why isn't a layered animation visible on top of a movie when you Preview in Browser?
I'm using the latest version of EA CC (2014)
Imported a video
Converted it into a symbol
Added a controller... plays fine on its timeline, or Preview in Browser
Then, I did the following...
Double-clicked the symbol of the video
Created an animation to play on top of it
Everything previews fine on the symbol's timeline
Here's the problem...
When I Preview in Browser, the video plays fine, but the animation that I layered on top, is not visible at all

Almost there…
I added this and understand why… “Callout_01” now appears and plays:

I initially put this in because if you click the animation as it’s playing, it’ll bring you back to Home. Then, if you click “Button_02” again, the video will play from the beginning. If you take it out, it will not play from the beginning. I should have changed the comment to read 100% instead of 10%... my fault. Joe, since you questioned it, I replaced it with a shorter piece of code that accomplishes the same thing (see below).

I added these two after making the above changes. Because if you went back to Home and repeatedly clicked “Button02”, “Callout_01” would not show/play.

Here’s the end of the puzzle, almost there… Previewing in browser, you click “Button02”, “Ani_02” starts to play. However, before “Callout_01” appears (at 55 sec mark), you click the Pause Button on the Controller. After a short pause (let’s say 3 sec), you click the Play Button on the Controller. As the video continues to play, you’ll notice that the Pause Button on the Controller had no effect on “Callout_01” to also stop playing… it will appear prematurely however long the pause was.
Apologize for being so wordy, but it’s the only way I can describe what is/is not happening.

Why can't I download a movie onto my IPOD Classic? One movie downloaded by 2 only went to my computer. Can I get a refund?
An iPod classic can generally play video files up to 640 by 480 pixels. The iPod's screen is actually 320x240 pixels, but it will play 640x480 videos (that are in a compatible format).
However, "HD" (high def) videos are at a higher resolution than 640x480. Apple often provides both the HD and SD (standard def) versions of the video, when you download it. The SD version should work with iPod classic. If a video is in HD only, it won't play on iPod so you can't sync it to iPod.
There is a command in iTunes to convert the video. Select video on the iTunes library list. Go up to Menu Bar. Under Advanced, select Create iPod or iPhone Version. After converting completes (which can take some time), try syncing that version to your iPod. NOTE: Some videos in iTunes may not allow conversion due to copy protection (DRM). -
Why does a my layered Illustrator file open with only one layer, when opened by someone else?
I am using CS6, as is the other user. When they open the file in Illustrator all the artwork is on one layer, even though the original file has numerous layers, and opens with these layers when I open it even now.
I have never come across this problem before in all the years I have used Illustrator and have had no joy when trying to search for this problem.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated as it is confusing us!

Since I posted this issue, I was later informed that the other user is infact opening my files with CS5 and so a quick solution to this was saving it down to a previous version! Sorry for the confusion!
This problem then becomes clear that it was a version error, but I have always had an error message come up if I try to open something that was created in a newer verion - is this no longer the case?
I have been assured no pop up messages appear when opening the file which I find odd, and also that this layer compression has only just started happening even though many files have been back and forth previously.
A little mystery! At least for now it is all working ok again

Why did ISO 7.1.1 change the feature where you could use four fingers to close an app and see if he other apps on your home screen as you were closing an app. This was the handiest feature I thought because I could partially close the app I was working in and see the date or other things on my home screen and then released the four finger position and be right back to the app I'm working in. Please change this in the next update back to the way it was!!!!!
I get the multitasking list (all prior apps, scrollable) and can switch to an app, swipe up to force it closed instead of "at rest" and can click back to the originating app in the same place i was prior to the swipe,

Why does the Photos app not put photos in order of date when you create albums?
I have a lot of photos taken on holiday in Iceland and wanted to create an album of just the best ones to show friends. When you look through the whole lot in 'Collections' they are in date order, but in the 'Album' they are jumbled up. Anyone know how to reset them into order? I know you can move them around by 1. holding it till it wobbles then 2. moving to another place in the sequence ... but this is both impractical and horribly complex when dealing with a large number of photos. There should be a 'sort' feature that allows different options within albums, As an IT professional since 1967 (yes there were computers then ;-) it just seems odd that such a basic feature is missing. Come on Apple, get your act together!

I left out the .ogg and .webm formats because I can't find a reliable site to convert them. Can someone tell me what is wrong with my code and where I can find a reliable .ogg and .webm converter site?Have you tried this with any player and does this happens with all browsers or some specific browser ?
Its possible that correct MIME is not rendered ,browsers rely on the MIME type sent in the server headers.
Can you test out with different files and new pages , try to use original format of mp4 for testing.

Why isn't there an easy way to block callers?
This is such a perpetual nuisance. And it would seem that people as capable as Apple, on a device as powerful as an iPhone, could have figured out an easy solution to this problem. Why isn't "block call" one of the choices on the screen when I get a phone call?
You may want to look at the Do Not Disturb feature's settings, also. What you could do is add the phone number(s) that can call you to your Favorites list or a group, then set DND to allow those calls to always come through. It will silence everything else.

My flash animation won't work when I preview my webiste in the browser.
I am using Dreamweaver CS6. I have inserted a flash animation file into my website that I created in Flash. And it plays just fine in the design part of Dreamweaver. But when I Preview In Browser, it does not appear, OR it tells me i need to download the newest flash player and once ive done that, still does not work. HELP!

+1 on that. I completely agree with you Nancy. But whats funny is most schools today have this as part of their syllabi which is a shame. I saw this high-end web technologies school whose motto is 'We shape the developers of tomorrow.' that does not have HTML5 or CSS3 as part of their Semester 1 or 2 but has Flash in 3 semesters. Whats more ironic is they're not even teaching game development (one domain where Flash may still survive) but their syllabi consists of Flash Website development! Lol!
Like they say, What kids learn in college in their 1st year is already outdated by the time they enter their 4th year, thanks to ever-evolving technology! -
FAQ: Why isn't the anchor point centered in shape layers?
[UPDATE: In After Effects CC (12.1) and later, you can center the anchor point within the visible content of a layer. ]
Short answer
Because in shape layers you can have two distinct kinds of anchor points - the anchor point in the main transform properties, as in any other layer type, and also an anchor point in the specific transform properties for each shape. When you create shapes by dragging with the shape tools, it's the anchor point for the shape group that will be centered. If you want to animate the whole layer from the main transform properties, you may need to shift the anchor point so it matches the visual center of your content.
Long answer
Shape layers are a unique type of content in After Effects.
In fact, they introduce a bit of the object/group hierarchy model in Adobe Illustrator, rather than follow the typical layer model in After Effects.
In other words, while you can definitely use them to quickly create a vector shape and then animate that shape as any other layer in After Effects, you also get the ability to create, edit and animate multiple shapes (each with its' own set of visual appearances) nested in a single shape layer.
This allows all kinds of cool animation opportunities, but it also means that a shape layer is not your typical After Effects layer.
So, when you create a shape by dragging with the shape tool, there actually is an anchor point that is perfectly centered - that's the anchor point in the transform property group for that shape group. If you double click a shape, you'll see a bounding box. This a visual representation of the transform properties for the shape group, and the anchor point specific to this group will default to the middle of that bounding box.
However, the main anchor point for the whole shape layer may not be centered relative to the shape content. This is normal behavior - Note that if After Effects tried to center the layer anchor point relative to the first shape group you create, it would be immediately wrong when you add more shape groups to the layer. Or when you animate shape groups around.
Now, as many other things in After Effects, shape layers are designed to let you go as deep as you want. Ideally, you may want to try animating the transform properties for each shape group, since there's when things get really powerful. However, if you want to consider shape layers as a one shape per layer entity and animate in that way, you can of course do that. Bear in mind that you may need to center the anchor point yourself relative to the visual center of the content. If you don't do this, the shape layer's content will be offset from motion paths, or behave in a different way from what you may expect when animating scale or rotation.
To do this, make sure you're not selecting a nested shape group but the shape layer itself, then you can do the following:
Use the Pan Behind tool as with any other layer (this may not give what you want if you do it after creating a motion path, since it will modify position values).
Drag the hot text for the Anchor Point property in the Timeline panel, as if it was a slider. You can then re-thread the content relative to the motion path. You can also achieve this by Option- (Mac OS) or Alt- (Windows) dragging with the Pan Behind tool.

Why isn't my animation working on my Volusion web page?
Hi, first time poster, and new to Adobe Edge Animate.
So I can't figure out for the life of me why my animation won't display at all when I put the code snippets into my sites HTML file.
I'm using the e-commerce website called Volusion. This is what I've done:
1. Created, tested (by pressing CTRL+Enter to preview in browser) and published my animation onto my desktop.
2. Uploaded the files via FTP (Cyberduck) to Volusions directory.
3. Inserted the following code snippet between the <head> tags of Volusions HTML file:

Illustrator layers only visible one frame
After Effects 2014.2 version 13.2.0.49

So, I started off posting in the wrong forum (Illustrator) and with that
question, seemed to jumped that hurtle, but encountered another.
My first problem was importing an Illustrator layered image as 'Composition
- Retain layer sizes' and had to check off the sequence options as
'Illustrator/PDF/EPS Sequence' in order to keep the layers in the proper
positions (or all layers centered around individual anchor points).
Another problem I had with that was all my layers became mixed - so my
solution was to bring them into the comp in a manual order.
So, now that I have the Illustrator layers in my After Effects comp, the
layers only remain visible for one frame.
I have my comp set for a minute. I started playing with opacities and can't
get past the 'one frame visibility'.
My plans are to 'draw on' the guitar I have drawn in Illustrator, by
keyframing the layer opacities.
I have tried the Animation/Keyframe Assistant/Sequence Layers but I am
missing something.
I want to try other effects that I do not remember the specific effect name
(to draw on the guitar layers), but first I need to start with having my
layers visible for more then the one frame.
What have I missed?Your artboard needs to include all of your artwork. That's the problem with the illustrator file you are showing.
Import as a sequence should never be checked if you are importing only one file whether it is imported as footage or a comp.
When you import as a comp you must open the comp that AE creates to keep the layers lined up.
Most people just getting started with this workflow make all three of these mistakes. The workflow is really easy. Make each object that you want to animate a separate layer, make sure all artwork fits in the your artboard and you only have one, import as a comp retaining layer sizes, then open the comp that AE creates. ALL of the layers that are in the project panel will be the size of that layer. If you are using clipping paths then the layer will be the size of the clipping mask if it extends beyond the artwork.
One last point that I failed to make. You should be creating your artwork so that it is the right size to fit in your composition at it's at rest size. In other words, if at some point in your composition you want to see the whole guitar and have it fill the screen then the strings must be thick enough to work in video. That means they must be at least 2 or 3 points wide. If you want to have the guitar fill only one quarter of the screen and your project is 1920 X 1080 then your dartboard should be set to 1920 pixels or points wide and the strings must still be at least 2 points or 2 pixels wide unless they are absolutely horizontal and vertical AND if you use thin lines or stroke values less than 3 pixels in your illustration you should have snap to pixel turned on in illustrator. Your illustration may be vector art but if there is fine detail in the illustration then it must line up with the pixel grid or it will not look good. -
