Why iTunes constantly asks for permission?

"Do you want the application “iTunes.app” to accept incoming network connections?"
Why am I constantly getting these alerts when opening Yosemite 10.10.2?
Home Sharing is not turned on in iTunes12.

I've had this problem for ages but as I leave my iMac on just about all the time with iTunes running it wasn't much of a bother to keep clicking on the Allow button. I had tried reinstalling iTunes many times but to no avail. I finally got tired of it and spent some time researching the Internet and finally found the answer. As usual the caveat regarding backups applies. If you don't have a backup, don't do it.

The following terminal command and output shows that the "Signing" of iTunes is valid. You don't need to do this to solve the problem but it will tell you if there is one.

iTunes is OK
~ : codesign -v --verbose /Applications/iTunes.app

/Applications/iTunes.app: valid on disk
/Applications/iTunes.app: satisfies its Designated Requirement
Itunes is NOT OK
~ : codesign -v --verbose /Applications/iTunes.app
/Applications/iTunes.app: a sealed resource is missing or invalid
In architecture: i386
resource added: /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/DevicePrefsMobileMe.n ib/objects.xib
resource added: /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/Localized.rsrc
resource added: /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/SmartPlaylist.nib/obj ects.xib
Or some such similar output.
If it isn't it will tell you by usually listing a bunch of files as above which have been moved into the iTunes.app container which don't belong. They possibly could be from older versions of iTunes. Don't know for sure but for whatever reason they mess up the "Signing". The easiest way to correct this is to delete the iTunes app by first selecting it in the Finder and opening the Information window. Go down to the Sharing & Permissions section, click on the Padlock symbol and enter your administrator password, set all the Privileges to Read & Write for all users and then close the Info window. Move the iTunes app to the Trash and then empty the Trash. Download the latest version of iTunes and install it. Your "Do you want to allow..." dialogue window should disappear!

• Firewall keeps constantly asking for permission

Everytime I boot my Mac it keeps asking for incoming network pemission for the same applications.
In the individual cases these are the following apps: Billings.app, Billings Server Admin.app, Daylite Server Admin.app, ScanSnap Manager.app.
e.g.
These applications are however, already listed in the firewall list, under system settings.

Thanks and great if anyone could help me:
1. Is this an indivudual problem in respect of the very programs?
2. Could certificates be a relevant factor here? If so, what are possible solutions?
2. How is it possible to reset the firewall settings via a terminal command or so and build it up from scratch, if this makes sense at all?

Well, parts of those apps are
1. Is this an indivudual problem in respect of the very programs?
I think so. Especially if the apps concerned want to open non-standard ports for outside apps to connect to, and possibly they are choosing different ports each time. Contact the manufacturers to see if they have some support, forum etc.
2. Could certificates be a relevant factor here? If so, what are possible solutions?
I don't think so; there should be visible warnings about expired or invalid or non-existent certificates. You could check Console, All Messages. Note the time one of the apps asks for permission and see what messages appear at that time.

I'm sure there is a way but I don't know it. If I find it I'll reply back with it.

• Itunes constantly asking for my password

The last couple of days my 3GS is asking me for my password and I'm not using the ipod or anything that I'm aware of that needs itunes. Any suggestions. Thanks

Only time I have seen this is after switching to my wifes old iPhone (she got new one and my original finally had button issues).
With her old phone I had her apps still on it and started installing new ones via phones App store under my account.
When one of her apps had an update (or could may happen when it checks for updates) and it asked for password I kept entering mine but since the app it was trying to check/update was one installed under her account. So if failed, but then kept asking for password like you described.
Do you have any apps that you may of installed with a different account? If so, change to that account.

• Itunes is asking for permission for web modification???

Every time I open itunes after restarting my macbook, it asks if I want to allow modification via the internet. I have been selecting yes. It then splashes the admin log-in and password to allow. Great all done. Until I restart my machine. Should I not shut down at night? Is there a way to set this into my preference so as not to long in as administrator every time? Should I not use my machine in an User mode?
I finally grew tired of this and just opted out of the command. And now, the appleTV is not accepting music for my speakers. Great!

The apple fire-wall (security prefs) drops i-tunes permission each time i-tunes is closed or the machine is shutdown.
I think this also has something to do with me logging in as a user and not administrator of my computer.
I am also see abnormally high CPU use. Activity Monitor has Itunes using 100-102%.

• ITunes constantly asks for CC verification information

Every time I start iTunes and try to make a purchase, it asks me to sign in and enter my CC's 3 digit verification code before I can proceed.
How do I fix this?
Thanks.

Hi Frankiti,
I see that you are being prompted to enter your Apple ID in iTunes multiple times. Here is an article that seems to describe this issue and can help you troubleshoot:

• Asking For Permission To Connect To iTunes.app

Why am I asked for permission for the iTunes.app to connect online every time I launch it? Is there a way to shut this off or do I have to endure this alert each and every time I launch iTunes. Most of the time I don't even want to go online but it still asks. I'm getting a little tired of it.

Perhaps try the following suggestion. (I've seen it work for Snow Leopard, too.)

• Why are you asking for my Visa card information when I have a balance on my iTunes gift card?

Why are you asking for my Visa card information when I have a balance on my iTunes gift card?

Either because you're trying to buy some sort of gift, or the iTunes Store servers are checking the validity of your account and won't charge the card, or there's a problem at Apple's end.

• Why does iTunes keep asking for my password when I want to listen to my music on my iPhone?

When I want to listen to music on my iPhone, iTunes keeps asking for my password. I am not purchasing anything. It started today. Why is that?

I've been having the same problem on my iPad and iPhone. I talked to Apple customer service this morning. They had me do the following on both devices in the Settings:
* Sign out of iTunes & App Store
* Sign out of FaceTime
* Sign out of Game Center
* Delete iCloud account
They also had me restore my iPad due to some glitchy behavior in the Music app.
Things seemed to me fixed for a few hours until I went into the iTunes Store app on my iPad and added a movie to my Wish List. When I went back to the Music app, the dreaded "Sign In to iTunes Store" popup started showing up again on both devices. Suspicious!
So, I cleared out my Wish List in both the iTunes Store and App Store. I've been poking at the Music app on both my iPhone and iPad since then I haven't seen that popup once since then. I'm not going to declare victory yet since it's only been an hour or two, but I thought that this was worth mentioning.

• When i open ibook, the iTunes store asks for my password. it goes away when i press cancel or when i put in my password. why is this happening?

When I open IBook, the ITunes store asks for my password. It goes away when I press cancel or enter my password. It seems unnecessary to me. Why is it doing this? I already paid for the book.

If you are trying to update information for your apple id then go to appleid.apple.com and click on manage your apple ID... you'll probably have to enter your old email address/password

• Why are all my apps asking for permission again?

For some reason, the majority of my apps started asking for permission to use my photos, location, microphone or any other part of the system that requires permission upon first lunch. I did not do any system updates recently nor have I reset any warnings in the settings. Anybody else have this issue or know what could be causing it?

You won't be charged for downloading free apps (or other free items), you will only get a temporary store holding charge ($1 or the approximate local equivalent) to check that the card details are correct and that the card is valid, which will disappear within a few days or so.
But unless you used the instructions that I linked to in my previous reply when creating the account, then you won't be able to download anything (including free items) until you enter your card details.

• Why does firefox keep asking for permission every time it starts, it never has before?

I'm using Windows 7 and recently used CCleaner to clean my registry and now Firefox asks for permission to make changes to my computer every time it starts. I have checked for viruses and malware, tried running Firefox as the administrator, removed all but one of my add-ons but nothing helps. Any suggestions?

Check that you do not run Firefox as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
In the Compatibility tab, make sure that Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" is not selected.
You also need to check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program directory.
If you can't make the changes then you need to start Windows Explorer as Administrator.
• Why does my itouch constantly ask for my Apple ID password after updating to OS 5.1 even when I just leave it alone?

Ever since I updated to OS 5.1 my itouch has been asking me for my Apple ID password roughly about 6 times a day when I just leave it alone, like I'm not even downloading anything for it to even ask for my password so what is the deal? I've already tried doing a hard reset, still the same. And no I have not done a factory restore that's just a last step I'll ever do, it's just annoying to be constantly asked for my password.

You might have some app updates or other itmes that are trying to download.
