Why placed object frame moves without content

I've been using ID CC for a few months (previously used ID 5) and have been having a problem moving a placed image. I'm sure I'm missing some knowledge of something that changed with the upgrade path, but can't figure out what.
It used to be that I'd place the object (with black selection tool selected), then I'd click on it and drag it to where I want it. Now, most of the time, I do that and only the frame moved without the content. After a number of attempts, I seem to manage to grab it the right way (but I don't know what that it is) and finally get the whole thing to move properly.
Shouldn't I just need to click on it (with black selection tool) and drag to the right place? Is it necessary to click on a certain place of the image (doesn't seem to be) or something else I'm missing?

With the Selection Tool if you hover your mouse over the image towards the center you'll see that it changes to a hand icon and a double concentric circle (content grabber). If you want to move only the image use the content grabber. If you move the cursor a bit past the content grabber it changes to a black arrow. This indicates that you now can move the frame + image together.

Why does object frame style change when I re-size the object?

I am creating a catalog with lots of images that I anchor amidst text. I have created a simple style that just adds a 1pt black stroke frame, and apply to each. When I later decide to re-size one of the images (primarily by dragging with mouse with CTRL-SHIFT), I notice that the style has been over-ridden, and the frame appears altered. I can then successfully clear the over-ride, but what a pain. How can I avoid this? Is there a way to "mass" reset many such problems? Like Find/Change, object style, and clear over-ride?

If you can not see "Adjust Stroke Weight When Scaling" option in the control panel, you will need to enable it first.
Go to Edit > Menus > Category: Context & Panel Menus > Control Panel Layout Menu and then make sure "Adjust Stroke Weight When Scaling" has an eyeball selected to make this visible.

Shouldn't object style with 'fit content to frame' work with updated images?

I have a script that places pdf files from a list onto pages. The rectangles are built with an object style that fits content to frame. This works, but if the pdf file is then modified, InDesign does not fit the new content to the frame when the link is updated. Is there a reason why the object style does not honor its settings?

Please understand I am a frustrated customer like you, , but the availability of movies that have been shown before is dependant on licencing from the rights owners. Sky quite rightly have to pay the film studios for the ability to show to Sky's customers. As I understand it they purchase the right for a period of time, hence when the right expires then it has to be removed. The costing of the movies does reflect on the anticipated popularity of the programme, hence an older less popular movie might seem expensive but if not many people watch and pay that would be right. The apparent silliness of having movies in the store and on demand, allows those people who do not have a movie subscription to rent the movie on a one off basis. I agree that Sky seem to be licencing some programmes for shorter periods and it really upsets me when movies appear in buy and keep but not available to rent only. I recently queried Sky about Fortitude being available in OnDemand until 2022!, then of course found out that Sky owns the rights of the series. I can only say be careful if you are a movies subscriber and wish to watch a movie, not to select the Sky Store version if it is available in the Movies on Demand section. I recently wanted to watch a film that I found in Sky store at a cost, and just to be sure I searched for it and found it was to be shown on Channel 4 in a few days. I don't think we'll ever understand how such decision are made as to how long they licence movies for and how the charging model works with the film studios. Logically you would think that a smallish fee to have available indefinately and to pay the studio fee based on the number of rentals would be better, but that might be difficult to administer and Sky would have to have extra server storage fees, which they outsource. Why do I constantly get loading times of more than 200 hours for a movie rental on Apple TV, but I can stream any netflix movie without issue?

It doesn't really make sense. I have changed the video settings to lower resolution, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. My first two movies with my Apple TV worked fine, but since then I am not able to get 5 minutes into a movie without it pausing and telling me it will be ready to view in 4, 24, 187, 224 hours.

Move them out of the trash and back into the Inbox.
Open the Trash, tap Edit, tap the email to select it, then tap Move.

Transport KM ACL permissions without content

Hallo
Is it possible to transport ACL KM permissions without transporting the content in the KM folders?
As fare as I can see, it is only possible to transport the ACL permission if I select the import mode u201CDelete Conflicting Data Firstu201D. Thus that our solution is in production, this is not an option.
I have a situation where I need to change a significant number of KM folder permissions and I would like to avoid doing this manually in all 3 portal environments (development, test and production).
I have looked at the u201CPropagation of ACLsu201D report but I can not define a single template folder u2013 I have around 40 different settings, which have to be applied in 3 different repositories.
We are on NW 7, SP16.

I have the exact same query, although I envy you as you only have 40 setting (I have 30 times 160).
The reply from Julian is correct altough needs custom development.
Hopefully SAP will introduce a ACL Export / Import function soon... They already have something similair for assinging roles as you can export assignments to text and import them again OR like the PCD objects XML import/export...
Only thing I can do is share my current workaround I did (note this action needs to be done in planned downtime as the content will be unavailible for a while).
on the source system
1. run KM toolbox > Report > Mass copy with ACL to a temp repository
(only copy the elements that where changed)
2. Transport this temp copy to the target system
on the target system:
3. MOVE your content from the actual location to the temp structure
result is old content in new structure with new permissions
4. REMOVE the old structure
5. MOVE the complete structure and content from the temp location back to the original location
Please do a complete backup and test for that you do it for real as all systems are different and cannot be commpared.
But again I hope that sombody has a real solution (I hope SAP in SP17 or so)

Illustrator shifts placed object when opening file

Hi,
I have come across an odd issue! I have an object built and saved as an illustrator file, which has some knockout type (transparency). When I placed this object in another illustrator file, all is well, and I save this new file. When I reopen the new file, I noticed that illustrator has moved the placed object very slightly. I have looked at other placed files and objects in this new file and illustrator doesn't seem to affect those.
Every time I resave the file, illustrator adds the same shift to the objects current position. If I just open the file without saving, the position stays as is. The shift is added by illustrator when I save the file!
Does anybody have any idea what may be causing this issue and how to prevent it? (I suspect it might have to do with the knockouts but I can't figure it out).
This is in CS4. Thanks.
PS: Another strange thing is that when I tried to save the object-with-knockout as an EPS file from illustrator, the EPS file discarded the transparency.

On my end, I found what seems to be a workaround although I still don't undersand why the problem occcurs. I placed several .ai objects (files) onto the artboard and noticed that some underwent the shift and some didn't, in particular, a file placed on the artboard could be shifted while another instance of the same file also placed on the artboard would be immune to the shift.
So I placed two instances of the same illustrator file I wanted and noticed one, if not two of them, would not shift, so I used that.
Note that if I grouped the file-with-knockouts with other objects on the artobard or if I locked the file, it would still shift if I saved and reopened the illustrator file it is in.
The other weird thing is that with this same illustrator object (file with knockouts), if I scale it proportionally, I sometimes see 0.001pt discrepancy in H or W. For example, say its original dimensions are W=1pt H=2pt, I could scale it and see: W=3pt H=6pt or W=3pt H=6.001pt. Again, I don't know if that has to do with the use of knockouts in the file.
This discrepancy might happen if I scaled with the reference point being top left but not happen if the reference point were the middle of the object in the Transform panel.

If you ask nicely at an Apple Store... and take your Mac with you.... they will download and install LPX for you..... along with all it's content...
As for why they don't offer it on a flash drive?
Who knows.....
It's Apple.... Its the App Store system... Its all about the Apple ID.. it's where things are leading, away from the physical to the non physical medium... and so on..They do things their way.. whether we like it or not... and if you don't like it?
Then choose a different DAW (or move to a different OS via bootcamp) .. It's no skin off their nose... so to speak... but it will cost you more...(in most cases a lot more) for a boxed / non downloadable edition.. For example... Cubase 8 = $550... Live 9 Suite (Boxed) = $800.... Motu DP = $500.. Bitwig = $300... and so on...
$199 for LPX..and all its content... It's a steal, box or no box...
My only issue is.. it would be good to be able to easily download and store a copy of everything myself.. without having to resort to somewhat tricky methods to do so.. so I could easily install everything on a non internet connected Mac...

Is there a way to access MY movies without having iTunes on???

I want to watch without my laptop having to be on...purchased stuff shows up, but not my personally owned content. Is there a way to trick itunes into thinking that my personal movies (purchased on DVD/BluRay or personal home movies) are purchased so they will show on icloud??? I am really just trying to find a way to have all my content in one place and needing to have my laptop on is not always easy. My toddler closes the laptop and then gets mad when her shows stop, trying to prevent that

Are you saying Purchased Movies play from the Cloud ? I didn't think they did but as in UK we wouldn't have that anyway.
iTunes must be available on the LAN to play local movie library content as this is stored on your local network. Even if this content was say on a network drive itunes is still needed.
AFAIK there is no 'iTunes Match' capability for TV Shows or Movies which would allow viewing from the Cloud and I'll be surprised if we see this in the near future if at all - you say these have come from DVD or BluRay so you will have used techniques that cannot be discussed here to get them into itunes as they potentially violate laws in some areas if encryption has been broken (unless they were digital copies). There is no way that Apple would be able to offer any kind of 'match' for video which has been acquired in this manner. Music is different as CDs are not encrypted and can be ripped to iTunes without contravening DMCA type legislation.
Even if there were a way to 'trick itunes' etc (I don't think there is) I suspect posting any such solution would violate Apple's forum T&Cs.
Hate to say it but the best solution would be to stick the laptop out of reach of the toddler.

Move KM content using CTS+

We are looking to move portal content using CTS, now we know that we can move EPA files without any problem and also we know that the CTS documentation for portal mentions that :
"Documents and configurations of Knowledge Management and Collaboration (KMC) are not part of the CTS+ concept at the moment. Mechanisms for supporting KMC are planned for the future. Documentation will be provided."
Anybody know when this will be supported? and if there is anyway to make it work within the current support package level SP12.

How to knock out the shape of a placed object

This is a montage of approximately 250 small images in ID CS5. Each photo is a separate object. I would like to knock out the shape of the dog in silhouette to reveal the background layer, which is underneath the small images and can't be seen in this picture. Then I would like to add a drop shadow to give the background layer some depth.
I know how to do this with either text or a shape created in InDesign, but I'm having trouble getting it to work for a placed object. I've tried using the silhouette as an EPS, AI and PSD but can't figure it out.

Draw a large frame to cover the page. Place the dog over that and use the
pathfinder panel to cut the dog out of the frame. Now group the little
images and cut them to the clipboard. Paste into the frame with the cutout.
