Why require cap file why not only class file as in java

why do we convert .class to .cap file why not simply load the .clss file to the card

If Java Card has to accept .class file, it's certain
that JCVM developers are going to spend more and more
nights in their office.
Just kidding. I'm one of them.LOL :)
Put the CAP file converter on-card.

A Java class can only inherit one class, but it can implement multiple interfaces.Which has absolutely nothing to do with why JDBC declares interfaces rather than abstract classes. How does your post even attempt to answer the OP's question?OP asked: "why they are using interfaces concept in JDBC or struts2.0 why not abstract classes?" I'm pointing out that your post does not address the question asked. And of course your answer is wrong anyway.

  • Manually upload .cap file on a java card

    Hi
I wonder how to manually upload a .cap file on a java card. I do know that it must be an or more APDUs that contain the file and so on.
What I wonder is how to convert a .cap file into a byte array (byte array that on-card installer can read and understand) without using JCOP or any other tools? Does (must) this array have a special format or something?
I am interested in the process of taking a.cap file and convert it to byte array (nothing else).
    Thanks in advance!
    /Lyudmila

The .cap file uploading mechanism depends if you have a java card or a GlobalPlatform card.Java Card cards are GlobalPlatform based.
If you have a java card you can use the same mechanism that it is used with Cref (see Java Card Kit - Development Kit - Chapter 11): .cap file is divided in n apdus, one or more (if a component not fit in one apdu, for example method component) for component (first:Header.cap, second:directory.cap, third:import.cap, etc).
If you use a GlobalPlatform card, the mechanism is more complex:
first you have to create a session using a specific protocol (SCP01, SCP02, etc) through INITIALIZE UPDATE and EXTERNAL AUTHENTICATE commands, then an INSTALL FOR LOAD command and n LOAD commads as they are necessary.
To use GlobalPlatform mechanism, see GlobalPlatform Specification 2.1.1.The JCRE spec does not define the applet loader and CREF has a basic version of an applet loader that is not GP compliant, but this is not the Java Card standard. To load onto any physical Java Card you will need to follow the GlobalPlatform specification.

  • Can Java reflect not only .Class file

Hi' i'm newbie in this topic, i'm really appreciate if somebody can help me..cos i'm really stuck in here...
    My Problems are :
    1. i want to ask about this, can Java reflect from .java file?
    2. i'm using Eclipse IDE, i'm really interesting about how JTree or Package Explorer in Eclipse can always displaying update information about class structure? but .java files not compiled, how can? if Eclipse using reflection, .java files must be compiled first, correct me if i'm wrong?
The fact is Eclipse don't have to compiled .java files to get the update information about class structure and displaying in JTree or package Explorer...how implement like this?
what i mean like this :
ex : if i type int x = 100; (not only int, it could be anything else..) at the working files, JTree or Package Explorer in Eclipse can always update the informasion about class structure, but .java files not compiled..
i hope my question are easy to understand, i really need some help..
    Thanks a lot..

hey, thanks for the answers, but i would like to ask :
    1) Eclipse performs background compilation of the Java sources, then performs reflection on those temporary classes++ if i'm using this way, how about the performance? seems that it will be compiled all the time right?
    2) Eclipse has access to the results of the Java source code parser, and can extract the information from the java syntax parser, before it gets to the compilation stage.++ how to implement this? what do you mean about java syntax parser?
do you know where i can find any article about this?
    thanks a lot again...

  • How to debug byteCode? Can cap file convert to java source file?

Are there tools can debug byteCode?
Are there tools can convert cap file to java source file?
Are there tools can convert jca file to java soure file?

I think it's little bit difficult to give you a correct answer. Frankly speaking, cap file debugging is possible if you have sufficient devices and knowledge to do that. Converting cap file to java source code is also possible only if the cap file has descriptor component in it. Names of variables, functions will not be completely restored because cap file doesn't have the names in it. But I am not sure that there is a publicly opened tool to do that. JCVM chapter 6 may show you the way even it's not the direct one.

  • How to Install the CAP file on the Java Card

Hi guys. I've already written and tested a java card applet. Now i want to put the CAP file on the card. Could anyone please tell me the procedures or direct me to where i can find the procedures on how to do this?
    Thanks

I suggest you search this forum. That question has been answered a lot.
    1) If you are using a pure Java Card use scriptgen tool and send those commands to the card.
    2) If you are using a Java Card with Global Platform
    A) Follow the Global Platform specs and authenticate to the card with developer keyset(0x40,0x41,0x42,0x43...0x4f)
    b) Get a kit
Since you are a beginner, I recommend you get the a kit like JCOP or one from card vendors like G&D, Gemplus, etc.

  • What is the use of have 3 Class loaders and why not only one

In java we have 3 class loaders i.e BootStrap loader, Extension loader and System loader. Why can't we have just one?
And what is the user of Extension loader?

    user7041221 wrote:
In java we have 3 class loaders i.e BootStrap loader, Extension loader and System loader. Why can't we have just one?
And what is the user of Extension loader? This has to do with one of the most advantages of OOP, reusability.
First comes the Bootstrap class loader, it loads the classes contained in java.lang
Next comes the Extention classloader, which loads vendor specific classes, like in case of SUN jvm the extention classloader will load the jars contained
in /jre/lib/ext, that is why if you place any jar file in this directory, it will automatically be loaded at runtime. Suppose you place log4j.jar in this directory in this directory, now if you check the classpath[if you use eclipse, it is very easy to find out],log4j jar willl be there, you will now not have to explicitly add the jar in the classpath again. If any other vendor supplies JVM ,he/she will place their vendor specific classes in this directory.
Last but not the least, the system classloader, it loads the classes in your application, example can be, when you use jdbc and do this :
    Class.forName("")
system classloader is loading the class for you, there are two types: static and dynamic class loading.
Now all these classloader follow the same rule, first it asks its parent classloader to load a class for it, system classloader will ask the extention classloader
to load a class when needed, and if the extention classloader has already loaded the class, that class will not be loaded again. If the class could not be loaded by ext class loader, the the system classloader tries to load it. Relation between ext and bootstrap class loader is same. If the class not found ClassNotFoundException is thrown..
    For more details..check the specification.

  • CAP file

Suddenly I am not able to get the CAP file. The Java Card project is successfully built. The converter produced only one CAP file for one package. The package in which the applet is defined is not converted. Is there any trace where can I found out what is wrong?

I am using NXP Jcop tools plugin for the eclipse. My project has two java card packages. In one package there is Java Card applet and in the other is the rest of the classes. I divide it like that because my application is very large and the splitting was necessary. The package in which other classes are successfully built and converted while the other was jut built. At the end I am having only one CAP file. Where can I found the information why the conversion of the other package failed?

  • Why would someone require CS4 files?

    Hi,
My office works in CS3. We have a client who is working in CS4.
We're submitting Illustrator files to our client and they are absolutly requiring that we give them CS4 files. So obviously this would require us to purchase an upgrade to CS4.
Is there any reason why they would be requiring CS4 files? Is there some sort of compatiblity issues with opening CS3 files in CS4? I'm not ready to lose the client over this, but I've never heard of the newest version not being able to open a previous versions files.
Please shed some light on this.
    Thanks.

    Ozzwoman9 wrote:
I only work with CS3 but I cannot think of any reason why they cannot work with the files you provide them.
Now, if they submit a CS4 file to you and they have used some new features that were not available in CS3 then there may be issues. And they should be saving any files they send to you as CS3 version as well.
here are several very excellent and obvious reasons.
First if you are outlining strokes in CS 3 and send them the file they might have to remove all of the extra and overlapping points.
If you use the free transform tool on a gradient mess and do not notice that all the curved paths with in the mesh are converted to hard angles
and resave it, then you are going to cause your client a lot of work.
If there are effects used on the files and they have turned some of them off when they saved the files this will not translate well in CS3 and if you have to turn off an effect that they do not wish you to trash you cannot do this in CS 3 and if you can't use that effect for what you are doing at least not for now then you have to trahs it since in CS 3 you cannot turn off the effects visibility.
If they use the blob brush and want that look you are going to have one hell of a hard time matching it.
If they use transparency in a gradient you are going to lose it.
If they import an layered or transparent tiff it will probably be flattened at least the raster portion of the file, so no more transparency with that place image.
Is that enough or should I list more?
In other words if you want to work with your client and give your other clients a better product it is probably a wise choice to upgrade.

  • Why jvm maintains string pool only for string objects why not for other objects?

why jvm maintains string pool only for string objects why not for other objects? why there is no pool for other objects? what is the specialty of string?

You might be aware of the fact that String is an immutable object, which means string object once created cannot be manipulated or modified. If we are going for such operation then we will be creating a new string out of that operation.
It's a JVM design-time decision or rather better memory management. In programming it's quite a common case that we will define string with same values multiple times and having a pool to hold these data will be much efficient. Multiple references from program point/ refer to same object/ value.
    Please refer these links
What is Java String Pool? | JournalDev
Why String is Immutable in Java ? | Javalobby
Sorry but you are spreading FALSE information. Also, that first article is WRONG - just as OP was wrong.
This is NO SUCH THING as a 'string pool' in Java. There is a CONSTANT pool and that pool can include STRING CONSTANTS.
It has NOTHING to do with immutability - it has to do with CONSTANTS.
Just because a string is immutable does NOT mean it is a CONSTANT. And just because two strings have the exact same sequence of characters does NOT mean they use values from the constant pool.
On the other hand class String offers the .intern() method to ensure that there is only one instance of class String for a certain sequence of characters, and the JVM calls it implicitly for literal strings and compile time string concatination results.
    Chapter 3. Lexical Structure
In that sense the OPs question is valid, although the OP uses wrong wording.
And the question is: what makes class Strings special so that it offers interning while other basic types don't.
    I don't know the answer.
But in my opinion this is because of the hybrid nature of strings.
In Java we have primitive types (int, float, double...) and Object types (Integer, Float, Double).
The primitive types are consessons to C developers. Without primitive types you could not write simple equiations or comparisons (a = 2+3; if (a==5) ...). [autoboxing has not been there from the beginning...]
The String class is different, almost something of both. You create String literals as you do with primitives (String a = "aString") and you can concatinate strings with the '+' operator. Nevertheless each string is an object.
It should be common knowledge that strings should not be compared with '==' but because of the interning functionality this works surprisingly often.
Since strings are so easy to create and each string is an object the lack ot the interning functionality would cause heavy memory consumption. Just look at your code how often you use the same string literal within your program.
The memory problem is less important for other object types. Either because you create less equal objects of them or the benefit of pointing to the same object is less (eg. because the memory foot print of the individual objects is almost the same as the memory footpint of the references to it needed anyway).
    These are my personal thoughts.
    Hope this helps.

First, to access documents you must use an app designed for that specific Document type. So Pages will not be able to open PDFs. The Documents app by Readdle can handle PDFs though. In the latter case, you'd open the app, click the menu icon at its top left, and click Open to go to your iCloud Drive. With Pages, if you had files outside the main Pages folder, click + then iCloud and navigate to the file's location.
