Wifi Calling - Bandwidth usage

Hi there I have bought an iPhone 6 so that I can use the wifi calling at home due to lack of phone signal. I am trying to find out the bandwidth usage for a call using this service? If I have a few friends around and my home internet is a terrible 1Mb down and 0.5 up - when will teh calls start bombing or jittering etc? I also work for a tech company and I'm interested how this will effect our client's office internet or their public wifi for the hospitality clients  Thanks in advance Neil

Hi ,
Thanks for joining the EE Community.
To use WiFi calling we recommend a minimum connection speed of 1mbps.
Thanks

  • Logging Call Bandwidth Usage on MCM

I have a need to add a field to my videoconferencing call detail records that includes the bandwidth used by H.323 calls on a per call basis. I am currently logging my CDR to a radius server, but after parsing the output, I cannot find any fields corresponding to the bandwidth of the call (i.e. 384K,512K, 768K, etc.) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

for what it's worth, I have not seen a bandwidth indicator in my call detail records either.
The best I have been able to acheive is billing based upon the tech prefixes dialled when placing H.320 calls via the 3540 gateway.

  • Will debranding disable wifi calling?

    Hi,
I'm thinking about debranding my S6 Edge but I'm just wondering if I'll lose any functionality? I've heard that the 5.1.1 update fixes high RAM usage as well as fixing a bug where quick toggles dissappear, so that's why I'm wanting to do it.

I wouldn't recommend debranding for many reasons, one of which is that most likely it will "remove" wifi calling, as this is "embedded" specifically to EE roms. I would suggest to contact EE regarding RAM ussage -I have to say that RAM usage gets high in Android thus not sure how much they can help/assist. As for the toggles I remember users mentioning Play Store Apps that replace the toogles.  I hope that I managed to assist you a little.

  • Excessive bandwidth usage

My wife's school has been using SGD for for a couple of years to allow her to remote desktop to her school PC from our home one - using just Word and Excel. In the last couple of months SGD has gone from using a few hundred MB per day to ~5-8GB per day - that is more than we used to use in a month! Does anyone know why this may have occurred?
Is there anything that can be done to reduce it?
Needless to say our ISP is very happy to charge us extra for all the extra bandwidth we now need. Nothing has changed at our end.

    Hi.
Do you know which SSGD release has been installed on the server (at school I mean)?
You could simply ask an SSGD administrator to type "/opt/tarantella/bin/tarantella version" to find it out.
That's rather strange since SSGD is highly optimized as to reduce the network traffic.
Are you sure it's SSGD which is causing that huge bandwidth usage?
Give a network monitor/sniffer (eg, http://netlimiter.com/download.php) a try so see if there's something else which is hogging your bandwidth.
    Cheers,
    Rob

  • Is there any valid reason why Wifi calling is not enabled and we have to wait until mid 2015?

It seems like it shouldn't have anything to do with the carrier since its completely off their network. It is a feature and function of the device. I've been living in a dead zone for over a year and was excited to hear Wifi calling was coming with the iOS 8 update. After updating today I found out that Verizon has no plans to enable a feature that Apple has made available now until mid 2015. According to the CFO Fran Shammo, "We built our voice platform so extensively [that] there was never a need for us to tell our customers, 'Oh, our network is not good enough so you need to go on Wi-Fi to complete your call." I know I'm not alone here in an area not covered by Verizon and as tempting as it is to buy their $250 network extender I'd much rather use a FREE alternative that is available NOW and has NO BEARING ON VERIZON'S SPOTTY NETWORK that I have the misfortune of living in.

Would love to have every carrier offer coverage everywhere.  Verizon may be the best nationwide, but they don't cover everywhere. When I travel WiFi calling works great in places with little to no coverage no matter what carrier I was using.  I end up using my T-Mobile lines when I travel to those locations.
I find places that don't have Verizon coverage tend to be the same areas that don't have broadband internet which renders wi-fi calling moot. Yes there are areas in my county that have poor or no service. As I aid these places do not have broadband internet either. So what good is wi-fi calling to them?
As far as T-Mobile I'd have to drive 70 miles just to get to a 4G area and over 40 miles to even get to an area that provides T-Mobile edge. Now if I'm using wi-fi for both calling and data then what am I paying T-Mobile for?

  • How can i calculate the bandwidth usage of my Azure subscription?

    Hi,
I know currently there is no API which provide bandwidth usage details. Is there any other way to find out my subscription's bandwidth usage?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Please have a look at below thread.
    Here is a snippet.
The Azure SDK doesn't provide any billing or consumption information programatically. As lgorek stated, you can approximate usage with IIS And WCF performance counters. And you'll also be able to use your own logging to track traffic from different users.
However, you won't be able to track bandwidth consumed when users download content from blob storage. Well, you could, but only if all of your blobs were private and you streamed their content through your web application instead of direct links on your web
    pages .

  • Wifi calls not working anymore help please

    Hi ,
    Welcome to the Community.
Please get in touch so our technical team can help.
    Thanks
    James

Hi James thanks for the advise I tried calling them yesterday and they ran me through loads of tests to do and still don't have wifi calls as they have said either a problem with carrier settings or ios8.4 and might have to wait for Apple to do an update before it works for me again not happy as I rely on wifi calls as I have no signal at work or at home without it.

  • Bandwidth usage with homesharing

I have recently found my bandwidth being used while streaming from Macbook Pro to Apple TV whilst using Home Sharing. Watching a 1.2 GB movie streamed from iTunes to Apple TV uses 1.2 GB of bandwidth!
I have reset my Apple TV but the problem continues.
I have disconected the Bell modem from the internet and the problem goes away. The Macbook streams efficiently to the Apple TV using the home wireless network.
Has anyone encountered this problem? And, more importantly, can anyone suggest a solution.
Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

    Hi diesel vdub
I am definitely using the Computers icon of my Apple TV. I have factory reset the modem but the issue remains. As I mentioned before when the modem is on, but disconnected from the internet, movies and videos stream fine to the Apple TV with no significant bandwidth usage.

  • Wifi calling from BB Curve

I just bought the BB Curve, I have a wireless network in my home and @ my office, how can i use wifi calling from my phone, I have T-Mobile.
secondly, I am unable to connect my BB Curve to my laptop using Bluetooth, not accepting my PIN, do i need a pass key for my Laptop as well?
    Thanks

I blieve you need to have a service called @Home and a router supplied by t-Mobile.  As far as I know, all the BlackBerry models that t-Mobile has that have Wi-Fi support the service (generically called UMA).
    Contact t-Mobile for specifics.

  • Apple should create wifi calling capability

    Apple should have wifi calling.

They do with a FaceTime audio call, which can be with other iOS devices that support it and Macs.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4319
There are also apps such as Skype that provide for this.

  • Will iPhone 5 support WiFi calling?

Does the iPhone 5 running IOS 8 support WiFi calling?

I'm guessing some iPhone 5's have been left out.  For example mine is an AT&T version which I purchased for full cost when they came out.  This was just prior to a T-Mobile iPhone version being introduced.  Nonetheless, the only difference I can discern is that the T-Mobile standard frequencies were not present on my earlier phone version.
I'm hopeful that this isn't something which is insurmountable.  I'd like to have the full value of my purchase price realized.  i know Apple can't add the T-Mobile frequencies, but at least they could deliver a software update version that permits Wi-fi calling.
Yes, I've updated to IOS8, but do not have the Wi-Fi calling menu that many with my iPhone 5 brethren are seeing.  This may be the reason some are not seeing Wi-fi as well.  I'd love to hear from anyone with some inside insights on this.  Thanks.
You might want to give T-Mobile a call and see if they can send you over a 'carrier update'. If I'm not mistaken, the 4S and above should be able to work with Wi-Fi Calling.

  • Can i get wifi calling on my 5s

can i get wifi calling on my 5s, i have no signal at home and keep missing important calls

Yes, settings/phone/wifi calling, switch it on, if it isn't there, you need to update the software on the phone first.
Also if it is all there and doesn't come on call 150 to make sure EE have activated it on your account.

  • When my wife calls me her number shows up blocked on my phone, what do we need to do so her number shows up on my phone?

When my wife calls me it shows up blocked only when she calls, when she calls anyone else it does not show up blocked, I'm guessing there is something in her settings that I cannot find.

On her phone, verify that Settings > Phone > Show My Caller ID > On.

  • How do i set up wifi calling?

How do i set up wifi calling?

Doesn't technically exist although there are easy ways around this.
I had a multi level apartment once. The bedrooms were partially underground. The neighbors had a network extender that caused many problems for our roomates. Luckily it didn't bother my phone.
Now a days verizon messages will work on wifi. I didn't have that option then so I used Google voice. I also used an app called condi or Tasker and groove ip.
Groove ip let's you make and receive free calls on wifi. If you have comcast triple play you can use their service too.
Basically I set my phone up to automatically forward my phone calls to my Google voice number. That way over wifi in my apt there was zero chances I would miss any calls. When I leave the apt and disconnect from wifi it would cancel call forwarding.
Other option is network extender. If you complain enough to verizon you can get one for $100. No way to prevent others from using it but you can give a certain amount of numbers priority.
Bottom line, verizon should offer this feature out of the box. But for now there are solutions.

  • Can't connect to WiFi Calling

I'm having a problem with WiFi calling on a Samsung S6 edge, it never seems to connect. I've spoken to EE and they have confirmed that WiFi Calling is activated on my account, my phone has the correct firmware and the WiFi calling option is enabled in settings. I thought it could have been a problem with my home router but I've since swapped it for the original BT Home Hub 5 and the phone still won't connect. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate them. Also, this is the first time I’ve ever posted in online forum, so HELLO WORLD!

Hi Danuals, Thank you very much for your response. I rang EE’s support number and they passed me to the 2 tier support team, who agreed with your diagnosis but said it takes a little time for them to change it from IPv4 to 6 so I just need to wait for it to be changed over. It actually turns out that because I live in an area with no mobile signal at all they are going to send me a free signal box to connect to my router. I have to say I’m very happy with EE’s support and also a very big thank you to you for pointing me in the right direction.   Update: My WiFi calling is now working as well, it came on after 15 mins
