Wifi for Ipad

I have been working on the dropped wifi issue since April 3rd. Going to discussions and trying everything, I went to an Apple store and was told to go to WPA. I did that and things were better bit not perfect. Went back to WEP and updated the router software and/or restored the software and changed the channel to channel 1. I also changed my password to five characters. So far, after about four hours of use, I see fluctuations of signal but not ONE drop of wifi. So far, this has worked for me and I have a FIOS system and an Actiontec ro

Although I haven't had issues with my home wifi, maybe this might be helpful to others who are having issues.

What router are you using? make/model/version
What security type are you using? If it is WEP then symbolic (non hex) keys may be converted to hex in different ways by different operating systems. Is your laptop a Windows PC?
If you are using WEP then drop it and move to WPA2. WEP has been deprecated by the WiFi alliance since 2004 as insecure (it can be hacked in seconds).

  • Mobile WIFI for ipad 2

Can someone please help me find out to get internet on my ipad2 when I will be out of town and the house does not have internet service?  Is there any type of aircard I can buy without a long term contract. I use At & T.

There are mobile hotspots that you can buy and you can purchase a data plan to use the hotspot with. I have the Verizon MIF2200 hotspot and it works quite well. My iPad is WiFi only as well and bought the iPad, the hotspot and the data plan all from Verizon. My plan is month to month but it will renew every month unless I cancel the plan - but I do not have a contract at all to worry about cancelling.
    Take a look for yourself.

  • Is there an antenna booster for wifi for ipad???

Looking to boost my wifi range.  Is there an antenna booster for wifi for ipad

There is no such thing for the iPad AFAIK.  You could, however, get a signal booster for your wireless router.

  • Best wifi for iPad uk

    Hi everyone,
I recently just bought an iPad air and have tried to connect it to my home BT Hub 5 wifi. It refuses to work.. I've been on the phone to Apple and BT support. I see from other posts that apparently lots of people have had this problem too. I've tried all the separating the 2.4 and 5 GHz signals, reseting settings etc etc..
I'm now considering switching who I get my broadband from.. can anyone recommend which is a stable broadband supplier for iPad and Macbook Pro?
I can't believe they charge so much money and the thing doesn't work!! Unbelievable..
    Thanks
    Andy

finally got to the bottom of it, the iPad can't handle the two wave bands going at the same time, so if you disable the 5GHz and leave the 2.4GHz one running, it works... Took hours on tech support to finally get it going!
    hope this helps someone...

  • Portable wifi for ipad

Can you purchace a wifi card for the iPad 2?

I'm not sure what you mean. All iPads have WiFi built in. If you wish to connect to a cell network from a WiFi-only iPad, then you can use either a MiFi device as tonefox suggested or use a cellphone which supports Personal Hotspot (AKA "tethering").
If that's not what you mean, please post back and clarify.
    Regards.

  • Setting up wifi for ipad with an existing hard wired network

    Greets all.
Got my aged mother in law an ipad so her bad eyes could read ebooks. Only way she can download new books is with a wifi connection. Trouble is, at her house My aged father in law had a hard wired dsl connection to the internet with Windows PCs. Can I install a wifi network in her house and still leave the existing hard wired network (all commputers connected via cat5) intact? I only need the wifi connection for the ipad. That said; what do I need to make this happen besides a wireless router. Ive heard the Airport Extreme gets good reviews. I only have pc experience and have a linksys router at my own house for my wifi network. So please...can the wifi ipad connection and hard wired dsl connection peacefully coexist and if so how do I go about setting it up? Thanks much!

Thank you!  Thank you!  Awesome!  I've been trying to find an explanation for this is laymen's terms (I'm new to Mac and wi-fi networks) and this answered my question exactly.  I have an iMac I want to keep its wired connection, and the iPad to run off wi-fi.  Sounds like the Airport Extreme is the way to go, but I only say that because it's an Apple product.
What would be the advantage/disadvantage with going with something like DLink or Linksys?  Or as long as I buy something with the 10/100 802.11b/g support, should I be okay.
    Thanks again!

  • Follow this to fix wifi for iPad

Hello all I was in this forum yesterday trying to fix the WiFi connection on my iPad. This is what I have found to fix the issue.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3304
I followed the steps as listed by Apple and all has been good. I do know that adding the update to 3.2.2 os worked the best. I thought that I would post this here to help others. Now if this does not work I guess that you should take it in to Apple.

    Interesting about the low power.
My group just installed an Alcatel-Lucent wireless solution for a new facility that consists of an OAW-6000 wireless switch and 28 AP125 a/b/g/n thin-APs. Am running production build v3.4.2.5 of the switch software, which when installed triggers updates to all AP.s
    Information on APs found here:
    http://enterprise.alcatel-lucent.com/?product=WLANAP124&page=overview
Information in wireless switch found here:
    http://enterprise.alcatel-lucent.com/?product=WLAN6000&page=overview
Just got my iPad Tuesday to assist with work, so far working out very well. When I was in the building earlier this morning I had no problems with connectivity to the wireless network - the iPad battery was in the range ~50-90% during the morning and early afternoon.
I noticed later this afternoon that when moving around to different parts of the building, connectivity was "spotty", with messages indicating that the iPad was unable to connect to a server, web-site, etc. The iPad battery was in the range ~10-20% during the late afternoon.
These connectivity messages appeared to be more frequent as the iPad battery drained lower and lower. I re-booted the wireless switch, which did not clear the problem the iPad was experiencing.
I drained the iPad battery down completely and plugged the iPad in to charge. I will see how a fully charged iPad accesses the network on Monday.

  • Can i return my ipad wifi for a wifi 3G eventhough it's engraved?

Can i return my ipad wifi for a wifi 3G even though it's engraved?

According to Apple's customer service line you can return an engraved iPad for an exchange, but it's not clear if it's within 14 or 30 days. If you call they says 30, but their site says 14. I think it has to be purchased straight through Apple though. Contact where you bought it from and tell them you are thinking of buying a iPad and having it engraved, but are concerned about the refund policy. They'll explain it in more detail at that time.

  • HT204053 I have an iPhone 4S and the new Apple TV, both setup with my email as the Apple ID.  I gave my wife an iPad 3 and set it up using her email address as the Apple ID.  Is a second iTumes Match subscription required for her to use our music from iCl

I have an iPhone 4S and the latest Apple TV, both setup with my email address as the Apple ID.  I subscribed to iTunes Match so our music could be played from iCloud.  I gave my wife an iPad 3 and set it up using her email address as the Apple ID.  When I try to turn on iMatch so she can play our music from iCloud on her new iPad it tells me that she needs a subscription to iTunes Match.  Is it Apple's intent that we would need two iTunes Match subscriptions?  If not, how do I accomplish what I want to get done?

The problem is that all services are bundled with your Apple ID ([email protected]):
Your iCloud account (Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Backups, etc.),
also iTunes & App Store purchases (Music, Movies, TV Shows, etc.),
    and the iTunes Match services.
(I guess that all your devices - yours and your wife's are connected to one iTunes library, right?)
If you want that your wife gets her own iCloud account for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc. but gets also access to your media then you have two set up two things on her device:
iCloud (Settings > iCloud) with her account (e.g. [email protected])
    and
iTunes & App Stores (Settings > iTunes & App Stores) with your account (e.g. [email protected]).
In this case she gets access to your library and could use the same iTunes Match account.
(See also: Using one Apple ID for iCloud and a different Apple ID for Store Purchases http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4895)
