iPad requires Wifi (or 3G /LTE) to connect to the Internet. You cannot connect a USB modem to the iPad.
You can create your own WiFi hotspot through your computer for your iPad to connect to, if your computer supports this functionality. All Wifi Macs and many Wifi PCs do. Check your computer manual for how to do it.

Can I connect my iPad mini to a data projector using a lightning to 30-pin adapter connected to a 30-pin to VGA connector? Or will this only work with a lightning to VGA connector?

The lightning to 30 pin adapter does not support video as per the item description in the Apple online store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD823ZM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter
This adapter lets you connect devices with a Lightning connector to many of your 30-pin accessories.* Supports analog audio output, USB audio, as well as syncing and charging. Video output not supported.
You will need to the Lightning to VGA adapter directly
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD825ZM/A/lightning-to-vga-adapter?fnode=3a
Or the Lightning Digital AV Adapter

If the projector supports HDMI input.

    Define Hotspot.
If you mean a Wifi network, then yes, as Wifi is the same everywhere.

  • Will this setup work for Color Calibration / Matrox / Enzio Monitor

Hi, I'm getting conflicting answers from Matrox forum and DVinfo.
I'm wondering if this setup will work for editing wedding films as well as doing color correction...
I'm using FCP 7 / FCS 3. I have a DVI input as well as a DisplayPort input on my Mac Tower which is about year old.
    Monitor: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/687611-REG/Eizo_CG223W_BK_ColorEdge_CG223W _22_Widescreen.html
Converter/Capture Card: (This is where I'm confused.) I'd also like to keep it under $800 if possible and be compatible with FCP X
    http://www.sharbor.com/products/MTXN5010167.html
Can I also use a displayport to HDMI to connect my Mac tower to the Matrox as well as a HDMI to DisplayPort to connect the Matrox to the monitor or will this ruin or downgrade the signal?
Or is there another card that I could use that is simple to install?
    Thanks for you help!

    >Can I also use a displayport to HDMI to connect my Mac tower to the Matrox as well as a HDMI to DisplayPort to connect the Matrox to the monitor or will this ruin or downgrade the signal?
No.  The Matrox MXO2 line connects one of three ways: PCIe slot in MacPro, Express34 for MacBook Pro, and Thunderbolt (additional cost for the adapter).  If you have a MacPro..you put the MXO2 adapter card into one of the PCIe slots, then connect that to the MXO2 box.

  • Will this setup work for extending my network?

I want to be able to control which piece of hardware I connect to. I have and airport extreme currently being extended by a airport express so we can get a signal in the far part of our backyard. The problem is when going through the airport express the bandwidth drops by 50%, and since I can't specify what to connect to I need another solution, so will the following work?
    1) airport extreme connects to Internet
    2) airport express connect wirelessly to airport extreme but doesn't allow wireless clients.
    3) airport express connects via Ethernet to another router which I setup as a different wireless network (different ip range etc)
    4) then in backyard we can use the second wireless network
    5) when inside we can connect directly to the airport express
    is this possible?
    Thanks

Experiment a bit with the placement of the AirPort Express.
It's natural that the signal strength (and speed) will fall off with distance from the wireless router, so the trick is to place the AirPort Express at a position where it will:
    1) Receive as strong a signal as possible (because it can only extend what it receives).
    2) Extend the signal strength to the area you want to cover
If there were no obstructions between the main router and the area you want to extend to, the ideal position for the Express would be half way between them. That way, the Express gets as strong a signal as possible to extend the signal.
Depending on your layout, the Express may need to be even closer to the main router....or, more than half the distance, maybe up to 2/3.
If you power down the Express and take some measurements with the laptop, you will see how the wireless signal strength and speed fall off with distance. If you locate the Express too far away from the main router, it won't have enough signal to work with for best performance.
It's all a series of compromises. You never gain something without giving up something else in return. It's possible that the 50% loss in bandwidth in the remote areas is the best that can be attained at your location. Extending using wireless only always brings some loss of performance.
Finally, if you really want the "best" bandwidth performance from a wireless network, the only way to do it is connect the Express to the AirPort Extreme using ethernet. This preserves the bandwidth on the network much more effectively than any other method of extending.

Will this new computer work a LOT better than the machine I currently have? Will it be a worthwhile upgrade? Will my video card work well for my intended purposes in Premiere?

Go to the CS5 Benchmark http://ppbm5.com/ and review the results
To allow for future expansion (more ram and added hard drives) my PERSONAL choice would be a larger power supply
The computer I built is described in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/652694 - with an 850w power supply

  • Will this setup work?

    Hi everyone,
I am looking into purchasing an AirPort Express 2nd Gen from the apple store. I have a few questions for you guys...
I am planning on keeping my existing router(Netgear N600 wireless router) in place, and have my printer connected wirelessly to this network thru the AirPort express.
Can the Airport act as an ethernet bridge? (Connecting on to an existing wireless network..?)
    Thanks everyone!

50/50 chance that the Express will connect to the Netgear wireless network. Make sure that you understand the store's return policy before you buy.
You might be able to configure the Express to "join" the Netgear network, but it will not provide any additional wireless coverage in that setting.
In other words, you will not be able to to "extend" or "repeat" the wireless network with the Express....so your printer must connect to the Express using either USB or Ethernet.....not wireless.
With luck, the USB port and Ethernet port on the Express will be enabled for the setup.
Expect Windows Firewall and/or anti-virus program blocking issues with the connection from the Win 7 machine to the Express.
If you need to have the remote printer connect using wireless only......you really need to look at another Netgear product to "repeat" or "extend" the wireless signal. The Express would not be compatible with your Netgear router for this purpose.

  • Creative Suite 2 Upgrade... What versions will this upgrade work with?

    Hi all,
I have an extra copy of CS2 Suite Upgrade that Adobe has said is a valid license and OK to sell to another user. I am having trouble figuring out what is the qualifying product the new owner would need to own in order to use this. The box says it is Adobe part number 18040402 and on the part label it says it upgrades CS 1.3, but on the printed box it says you must have CS 1.x.
So far I have not been able to get a clear answer from Adobe support regarding this specific part number. I also have not been able to find any info regarding this via Google. Just wondering if anyone might have some concrete info.
I don't want to tell someone this will work for CS Suite 1.0 and later discover it only works with CS
    Suite 1.3.
If anyone can point me towards some conclusive info it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!!

Hi, what is the source of your info please? This is an unregistered upgrade product that is not used by a previous owner. So far the support people at Adobe have told me it is OK to sell to someone who owns a qualifying product. Not trying to break any rules here... just want accurate info.
    Thanks

  • Will this RAM work with my early 2011 MBP?

    http://www.amazon.fr/Transcend-JM1333KSN-4G-Mémoire-DDR3-SO-DIMM/dp/B00432SYU4/r ef=sr_1_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1344152904&sr=8-1
I'll buy 2 of them, to double my MBP's memory - just checking whether they'd work. Also, has anyone got any experience in upgrading RAM?

Yes, that would work with your MB PRO.....you can upgrade up to 16GB...
It takes 10 minutes max to upgrade your memory...
just make sure you have a #00 Phillips screw driver....
10 screws in the back - 3 of them are long and 7 of them are short....remember where the long screws belong when you install them back in...
    good luck..

  • Will this msata work with the X220 / X220 Tablet?

I might get this but I'm not sure about the compatibility as certain X220's are having problems with the msata port..

I was keeping an eye on those too, but I'm sure they won't work on the X220s that have the mSATA recognition problem.
Also, I would like to know the mSATA speed on the X220. Is is 3Gbps (Sata II) or 6Gbps (Sata III)?

  • Will This sofware work with Mac Os X 10.4.3?

I reacently purchased a copy of Adobe PageMaker 7.0 for Mac but haven't being able to install it. The message on the computer is telling me that the sofware cannot run on this operating system.
The software requirements ask for Mac os 9.1 or Mac OS X (classic mode only).

I'm not an expert but I've had similar problems (wanting to run classic applications on tiger) and asked on here and basically, no. It won't work.
Somehow apple have managed to release this "oh so wonderful" intel core duo thing with tiger which prevents an incredible amount of software (ie. all classic) from working!! haha so clever...
so sorry but I don't think it will work..
If you want to double check though feel free
