Will Apple replace my iPhone 3GS out of warranty due to accidental liquid exposure and a broken sim card tray?

Like many people, my iPhone 3GS was recently exposed to liquid and the phone immediately died. The sim card was not exposed to direct liquid and I was able to get it out; however, the sim card tray was siezed up and would not eject, so when removing the sim card, the tray broke. I have filed an out of warranty claim to get it replaced; however, upon reading some of their disclaimers, I noticed that Apple has a section where they won't replace a phone exposed to liquid damage.
I have read various posts on these forums that say they will however. I am curious if I should send my phone off to get replaced...or if doing so would be a waste of money and time. There is a clause that says they can choose to not replace the phone and still bill you for time to examine the phone.
Please help.

hey grubbin. not true not true, long story short my friend bought a iphone off a friend that his ex girlfiriend forgot behind and her plan ran up, ( HOWEVER THIS IS PREPAID I THINK) and nothing was owed on it, but the new buyer got on verizon and the phone was not registered , there was a plan but the phone its self wasnt registered so my friend was able to get online register the phone with verizon and reset it to all his info and apple id and he uses the phone to this day. So it is possible , HOWEVER again if whoever lost it is going to report it stolen you dont want a receiving stolen property charge. Choice is yours.
But that brings up another question? If someone loses their iphone and reports it lost and gets a new phone then would you be able to activate it and use it or should it be returned to apple, but who would pay out their own pocket to return a phone that isnt theirs

They should have one in Stock, but you never know. Call your Apple Store and tell them you have an iPhone 5 color and GB, and that you most likely will need a replacement, do they have any in Stock. If yes, go in, if not ask for advice on how to handle your problem.

Yes, as long as you have not dropped it in water or damaged it yourself, it has been known for genius to help if you are honest and have caused damage but dont bet on it. If its a phone fault which cant be fixed, then yes they will after checking the phone out for water ingress etc. If you have Applecare+ you get one free exchange for accidental damage in the US I think.

I'm italian so sorry for my english. I have an iPhone 3GS: it has some scratches and it doesn't work very good since it dropped from the tabel some months ago. Ah, it's obviously out of warranty. My question is: if I pay the maximum price for out-of-warranty replacement (161€/200$) can I have a new or refurbished iPhone? The cheapest and most efficient method would be to do a battery replacement. To do so bring your iPhone to a local Genius Bar and they will replace the whole device for 79$ US. If they do not have the device in stock, thay will ship one to you and your 3GS will need to be returned to Apple. Alternatively you can contact Apple Care and order a battery replacement phone for 79$ + shipping. It will be replaced with a 3GS as they are still in production for AT&T new. The Genius Bar option is the best though as you are guaranteed a new phone if they have it in stock!

I got my IPhone 5C September 29 and I've been experiencing problems...
My iPhone:
•Overheats
-to the point I can't touch it anymore...
especially when it is charging or on internet, but there has been times where I haven't been touching it and all apps are closed!
•flashlight is almost never working!
-in the control center, my flashlight icon is sometimes gray and won't let me select it, then other times it will let me use it
•Siri tells me to come back at a later time
-i understand that sometimes she/he may be incapable of answering or something, but she has said this more than I have gotten answers
•my phone will flicker black
-I will be in the middle of an app and the screen will go black for a second and be fine again... It seems like it has a glitch
-this also happens all the time
•apps are constantly shutting down
-my phone will resort back to the home screen when the apps shut down, this happens frequently
•battery drainage
-this might not be just my phone, but I will go to school and it will have 100% battery and come home with 20% or less!
-I don't stay after for anything normally... And I don't use it during school hours!
•screen freezes up
All the time in apps or browsing on internet my phone will freeze up...! It annoys me a lot!

So my final question(s) is will Apple replace my phone? Will I have to pay? Should I go through my sisters bank insurance? Also, I don't really want to replace my phone so would anybody be able to tell me how to fix this problem? My iOS is up to date as well. Thank you for any help that I receive.

The best thing to do is to book a Genius appointment with your nearest Apple Store and take your phone in. This needs to be done online at http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/geniusbar/
They will be able to connect your phone to their diagnostic software and they should replace it if it's within the 12 month warranty period, which it will be if it's a 5S. They will also be aware of any glitches with the phones. Curious as to why you wouldn't want to replace it if it's faulty - not that it's any of my business. If you make sure you back it up first you should be fine.

If your warranty is still valid and there is no evidence of abuse (water damage, dropping, etc.) your phone will be replaced for free with the same model refurbished iPhone 4.

I went to Verizon and asked about it and the man who helped me said that his warranty was 4 months out of warranty (as is mine) and they still replaced it. No. An iPhone comes with a one year limited warranty unless you purchased Apple Care (extended warranty).
