Will i lose my new copy of Windows 7?

Hello all!
I am in deep need of advice.
My WD Green 1.5 TB hard drive crashed, i couldn't get windows 7 to load no matter what. So i brought my PC to a Computer repair shop in the next town over. They charged me for a new hard drive (supposedly a WD Black 2 TB even though it only says 1.5 in the
properties window of my computer... hmmm) they allegedly cloned my old drive and installed it on my new one. Never said a word about any issues. When i got home i booted it up, and then about 15 minutes later i start getting messages my PC is NOT running genuine
Windows. So i called them back and told the PC repair techs this, they told me to bring it in, which i did like 5 more times over the next week.
Finally they tried to blame their failure on the Game mods i installed which is total Bull$#!T but whatever. So i had to go on the genuine Windows website and pay $110 (on top of the $560 the PC repair shop charged me) for a new Windows 7 installation disc
and new product key. I had to install a fresh copy of windows and lost ALL my 60 games, programs, mods and all the other great things i had running which made using my PC a thing of joy. I accepted my loss and slowly but surely re-installed everything, and
used my old drive to copy and paste many items to semi-restore my computer to it's former glory. Now i really wanna use the full backup i made before i re-installed my new Windows 7 with the new product key. I used a 1-TB My Passport portable hard drive and
made a full backup of ALL my files and system just the way i wanted everything, but this was still when my old Windows 7 was showing up as "Non-Genuine"...
My question is: If i restore my computer using the My Passport files and system image, will it bring my PC back to having a
non genuine copy of Windows 7?
Right now i have genuine Windows installed on the WD Black hard drive with full updates and the works... I called MS spoke to someone in Malaysia who stated i wont lose my new copy of Windows but i dont really believe her as i think she just wanted to get
me off the phone and not really research the problem, she also stated she would send me a link on how to report the PC repair shop for possibly having stolen my old product key when they supposedly cloned my old drive but she never sent the link...
Any thoughts or advice? I would be grateful for any advice from a professional.

I would almost bet money that the computer shop gave you a counterfeit version of Windows.  Game Mods will IMO NOT cause a Non-Genuine Error.  The best thing to do is to post a Diagnostic of the OS.  Follow the directions below and then post
your results:

Diagnostic Report:
To properly analyze and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the diagnostic report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop -http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once downloaded, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, after a short time, the Continue button will change to a Copy button.
Click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your post.
One
Issue Per Thread:
Most Activation and Validation issues look the same, on the surface, but can have many different causes and fixes. This is why we ask for a diagnostic report and this is also why we ask that you create your own thread for your issue (in other words, don't post
your issue in another person's thread).
It just becomes too complicated to try to troubleshoot multiple different issues in the same thread.

  • If I restore my iPhone from last night's iCloud back up will I lose any new messages or info saved since the back up was done?

I just updated to iOS 7.0.4 and I had to delete most of my photos to have enough space to perform the update. I did an iCloud back up last night that has all deleted photos. If I restore the most recent back up will I lose any new messages that I have sent or received since the back up was done last night?

Yes. Restoring to a backup takes the phone back to the date and time of the backup and anything done since that time is lost, with the exception of your update to iOS.

  • If I restore my Mac with Time Machine, will I lose any new data?

About a month ago I had my computer sent in to get some work done on it. They fixed the problem, but I didn't notice until later that it had lost my Apple ID.
It was still the same computer all of my files were on it, but I had to resign in on everything with my Apple ID.
Is there a way to use Time Machine to restore my computer back? My only problem with using the system restore is I think that will cause me to lose all of my new data like, songs, docs, photos, etc...
Is that the case? or is there a way to restore without losing that information?

Try something stronger, such as DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro.

  • Link doesn't show up in frame, but will show up in new tab or window

http://www.southernpersuasion.com I have maintained this site for years. Recently, rather than post pictures on a photo storage provider and post them to facebook, I have posted them to facebook and then linked to them from this site (select the Pictures link). When I click on a link, I get a blank page in the frame. When I right click on the link and select Open New Tab, or Open New Window it comes up. I don't think I've messed up the html... in fact, I think I just changed the links from previous entries that were actually linked to PhotoBucket or the like. What is wrong, and how can I fix it? Thanx.

Looks like a cross domain security issue. You're trying to display a secure (https) page at Facebook in a http frame at your website. But, I only see that happen when simply clicking a hyperlink on the Pictures page. If I right-click and use the '''This Frame''' part of the contextual menu, no problems.
I see that in IE, too, except that IE explains the problem. <br />
'''This content cannot be displayed in a frame - To help protect the security of information you enter into this website, the publisher of this content does not allow it to be displayed in a frame. ''' is what I get in IE8.
Overall, you might want to update that website to the 2nd decade of the 21st century, and also get rid of the Frames by using iFrames.

  • TS4123 This is not correct solution. I have fresh copy of Windows 7 64 bit and I have the same problem.  Autorun only shows the Bonjour service.  It started when try to sync more than one iphone.

This is not correct solution. I have fresh/new copy of Windows 7 64 bit and I have the same problem.
Autorun only shows the Apple Bonjour service.  It started when try to sync more than one iphone over WiFi. I have two iphones and an iPad. I turned off syncing over WiFi and still has high CPU utilization. One of the CPU's is pegged at 100%.  It is the AppleMobileDeviceService.exe process.

For the record, I then followed the suggestion of MarcDCMB in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4291206 of just manually restarting the Apple Mobile Device service in Windows services.msc once each time after starting iTunes and the service no longer hogs CPU after that service restart.  Not too painful as a work-around, and apparently an effective one, but clearly not a solution to the problem.  Again, as above, all the other solutions didn't work for me and I have no conflicting software as far as I can tell. So you'd have to say this Apple's problem.
Also FTR, I am still on the 5.2.0.6 version of the Apple Mobile Device Support MSI and I don't know if that is relevant to this work-around working but my sense is that it is NOT relevant.  I'll report back on this thread if I re-upgrade and the problem returns in spite of the service-restart approach.

I was syncing my ipod touch on a friend's computer and now want to sync to my new mac book, will I lose all my stuff?

Not if you do the following:
    - Transfer iTunes purchased to the new computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using one of the third-party programs discussed here:
    new PC: Apple Support Communities
    - Move a copy of the iPod backup file from the old to new computer.  That file is located here:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    - After the stuff is moved/transfered, restore the iPod from the backup you just moved to the new computer and sync as necessary.

  • If I download itunes on a new computer will I lose everything in my library

If I install Itunes on a new computr=er will I lose everything I've purchased?

Your iTunes library is not part of the iTunes software download. It resides locally on your computer.
You need to transfer your iTunes library from the old computer to the new one.
Copy the whole iTunes folder in Music on the old computer to the same location (Music) on the new computer, replacing the iTunes folder that was created during the iTunes install.
    iTunes folder locations for Windows:
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
    Windows Vista: C:\Users\{username}\Music\
    Windows 7: C:\Users\{username}\My Music\
    Windows 8: C:\Users\{username}\My Music\

  • Getting a New Computer... Will I lose all my tunes?

I had thousands of songs stored in iTunes on a computer that I was using with my iPod. Now I have a new computer. Of course, the iPod doesn't recognize the new system and wants to erase any songs that aren't on the new machine. Thing is, I borrowed dozens of discs from friends to beef-up my music library on the old computer. Will I lose all of those songs forever?
Is there any way to transfer my iTunes from one computer to another?
    Dell   Windows XP

Is there any way to transfer my iTunes from one
    computer to another?
Yes. I've just done it with great success.
Read these instructions through before you try it to make sure you understand clearly waht you have to do.
NOTE: All music library folders and drive names must be identical on both computers.
    1) Download and install iTunes on the new PC. Run it once and shut it down again.
    2) On the old Windows machine, select 'Deauthorize Computer' from the iTunes 'Advanced' menu. This is important.
    3) On your old machine, the iTunes music files and the iTunes library file live in a folder that's normally located at: mydocumentsmymusic\iTunes. This folder contains a couple of files which are the actual data/ratings/playcount etc. By copying this whole folder, all that info goes with your songs.
    3) Copy this whole iTunes folder to the same place on the new machine, overwriting whatever is in there. The easiest way is to burn one or more DVD's, depending on the size of your library. Make sure iTunes isn't running when you do this.
    4) Run iTunes on the new computer. If you managed to put the files into the right place, your iTunes should look exactly the way it was on the PC.
    5) You now need to 'authorize' the new computer to be able to play any songs you have bought from iTunes. You do this by playing any purchased song and then filling out your iTunes user name and password when asked.
    Hope this helps.
