Will I lose my saved passwords if I upgrade to 4.0?

I want to upgrade to Firefox 4.0, but I don't want to lose the passwords that my current version (3.0.13) has saved. Will this be a problem if I do upgrade, or will 4.0 retain my previously saved passwords?

You shouldn't lose your passwords when upgrading to Firefox 4.0, but you '''are''' "skipping over" 3.5 and 3.6 so you should back up your entire Firefox Profile just-in-case. Version to the next version updates present the least number of problems, but skipping over two major versions can sometimes cause data loss.

Your iOS version is probably too old to support software update.  You must update using iTunes on your computer.
Make sure your iTunes on the computer is current.  Plug your iPhone into iTunes.  Let it sync.  Then choose "Check for Updates..." from the iPhone's summary tab in iTunes.  That should od it for you.

    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab of Activity Monitor, are there a lot of Pageouts?

  • Will I lose my saved data if I update sync account ?

I was about linking a new device when I noticied that I wasn't able to login with my "old" account, It seems that I have to create a new one.
There was a link to how to update to the new Firefox Account [1]
But it says that I have to unlink all my devices.
If I do so, will I lose my data ?
    Thanks

As long as the information that you are wanting to keep is on one of the devices you will be fine. It takes things like passwords that you have told Firefox to save and browser history, bookmarks, things like that. Once you make your account and tell it what to sync it will pull all of that information and store it on a "cloud". Any device you then connect to that account will then be updated with all that you told it to share and the reverse is also true. So no information will be destroyed. I hope this helps.

  • Will I lose my saved data in apps, games, and pictures by transferring over to a new computer?

I got a new Ipad. I'm going to sync it with all my songs and apps from my computer. I'm getting a new computer soon. When I transfer the apps and songs to that computer and update my Ipad on the new computer, will I lose my pictures and saved app data because of the new computer?

You won't lose the data if you transfer purchases and restore the iPad from a backup. Read this thread where this very same issue was discussed. Read my post (Demo) and read King Penguin's post as well. As long as you follow these instructions you should be able to move all of your apps, music, saved data, photos and all iTunes content to your new computer.
Remember to turn off auto syncing in iTunes, Transfer Purchases and backup the iPad before you sync any content at all. It is all explained here.

  • Will I lose everything saved to iCloud when changing Apple ID?

I had to change my Apple ID and am trying to update my iCloud and am afraid of losing everything I have saved there... What is the best way to save my iCloud stuff?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

  • Will I lose my saved emails

I save all my important emails. In fact almost everything I do is digital. So my .me account is like a giant file cabnet. I have even emailed documents to myself for safe keeping figuring if my house burnt down or some other disaster, at least I could go online, acces .me account and many of my important documents will be preserved.
If I switch to icloud, which I guess I will have to do eventually, will I need to figure out a way to make a copy of all the emails I want to save or will they simply transfer as is to icloud in there current "file cabnets" (all the files i have set up on my .me account)
I hope this question makes sense,
    Thank you,
    Stacy

Well, I've never used Thunderbird. But my first visit to their web site shows a big 'ole "Free Download" button right in the middle.
I'm accessing my mail thru webmail using Safari, that's where I'm having to go to the suspected spam folder and tell it to move it to my inbox and then it sends that to Entourage. I have deleted everything out of my inbox thru webmail, but it didn't change anything.
Maybe you should try to create an account on some other Mac and try it there. And have someone else create an account on your Mac. It certainly sounds like some problem specific to your Mac and/or your account. The only way to fix it is to try some experiments to isolate where the problem is.
Maybe try to move aside your com.apple.mail.plist preference file and ~/Library/Mail folder and have Apple Mail try to create a new account by importing your Entourage account.

  • Will I lose my app data when I upgrade to ios 8

I Am considering upgrading to ios 8 for the new apps and features it brings but I am wondering if my apps will work on ios 8 and data will be saved? I know that when I upgraded to ios 7 all my data was still there, and I have heard ios 8 is similar to ios 7 in terms of look not like ios 6 to 7.
p.s. If this is the wrong place to post this question move it to where the right place is.

My iPad 4 runs fine on IOS 8.1.2, you should have no problems. To second what mende1 has already said be sure to make a backup first. The one time I had troubles with a update and needed to restore my iPad the iCloud backup fully restored all my infomation.

  • Will I lose my older version if I upgrade

I am using version 3.6.18. Can I install a newer version without losing the version I presently use? I like my present version and don't want to overwrite it in case I lose some toolbar stuff I use everyday.
    Thank you,
    Bob

Yes, Pages 5.x can't open Pages 08 documents. You can have both Pages 08 and Pages 5 on the same computer.  If you really need to open the document in Pages 5 you can first export it to Word and then open it in Pages 5. Some formatting will probably be lost though.

  • Will I lose my unlimited data if I upgrade from an Android to an iphone?

I am due for an upgrade in a few months and I am really leaning towards the new iphone. My question is...I have an unlimited family data plan, if I switch to an iphone will I be forced to change data plans? I work in litigation and I use a lot of data. My bill is already outrageous and I don't want to have to pay their ridiculous data charges on top of the $30 "smartphone data plan" charges for both phones.

If you have an old calling plan, you may not have much of a choice but to change plans.  If your plan is relatively new, as mentioned above, you can keep your unlimited data by paying full retail price for your phone, getting the phone from somewhere like ebay (Best Buy and the like will also result in the loss of your unlimited data), or try swapping/adding lines.  Also, if you aren't aware, as of this spring there is a $30 upgrade fee.

  • Will i lose all my apps if i upgrade my iOS on my ipad?

    pls help

A backup should be done by iTunes as part of the update process, and your apps should remain installed (with their content/settings) after the update. I've only ever had an issue with one update which removed half of my apps, but I just re-installed them - you can always re-download apps for free if they do get removed, but that shouldn't happen (re-downloading : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519)

  • Saved passwords suddenly not there

Using OSX Yosemite and Firefox 34.0.5. all of a sudden not a single saved password in my file. key3.db file along with logins.json and the signons.sqlite file still in the system. However the about:config screen does not display the signon.importedFromSqlite.
I've spent hours reading forums and have not found a procedure to restore the saved passwords. Appreciate your help with the steps suggested. Thank you

If you use the Time Machine then try to restore the logins.json (or signons.sqlite file) and key3.db file(s) from that backup.
You need the move or rename the logins.json file and reset signon.importedFromSqlite to make Firefox (re)import the passwords from the signons.sqlite file.
If that still doesn't work then you need to delete the key3.db and logins.json and signons.sqlite files and set the Master Password again.
You will lose all saved passwords doing that.
The "Remember Password" extension has been reported to cause issues with the passwords disappearing, so if you have this extension then remove (uninstall) it.
