Will Now Up-To-Date work with Lion?
I have been using Now Up-To-Date for many years. Before I upgrade to Lion I'd like to know if it will still work, and if not what I can do to transfer the data to another program.
Find the application in the Finder. Click on it once. Then go to the Finder's menu bar and look for File->Get Info.
In the Get Info window, look for the application type. It will be listed as PPC, Intel, or Universal.
If it's PPC, it won't run in Lion. PPC applications require either a PPC-based Mac or Rosetta on an Intel Mac. Lion does not include and cannot run Rosetta.
If it's Intel or Universal, it ought to work. I still can't guarantee that it will work; sometimes applications are annoyingly OS-version-specific. But if it's not a PPC application, you most likely will have no trouble.
You can always create a partition on your hard drive for Snow Leopard and boot into that whenever you need to run older software.

If you have a little Firewire adaptor, everything should work fine. It does on my system.

Will Snow Leopard drivers typically work with Lion?
I'm sure that it varies per driver obviously, but I'm going to be switching from a PC soon, and I would like to use an external USB audio interface for recording audio. However, Tascam has discontinued the product, and they only supported it through Snow Leopard. Do people tend to have luck using drivers for Snow Leopard with Lion? Thank you!
Don't count on them working for hardware other than maybe printers.

i am looking to update from the original livetype to the version that came with final cut studio 2. i dont have the data dvds for the newest program anymore but i do have the ones from the original version. if i install the newer version will my old data still work?

Like the title states, Will the original iWeb still work with Lion? I can't stand the new versions and the old iweb always works perfect for me. Any ideas?
If you want to continue to use iWeb, then when Lion is released, I would use the latest version which is iWeb 09 that was part of either iLife 09 or iLife 11.
iWeb 09 has been tested and has been found to work with Lion. -
I have 3 macs. 2 are Lion, but 1 I left Snow leopard so I can access data from my old Quicken Application that doesn't work with Lion. If I move to iCloud, will I no longer be able to access my MobileMe email on the Snow Leopard mac?
What version of word do you have? The TS3938 sounds like it's a PowerPC app- written for an old architecture that is no longer supported in Lion. If this is the case, your files are fine- you just need a newer version of word that will run in Lion in order to open them. The newest version (2011) should be readily available anywhere, and has worked fine for me ever since I switched to Lion on release day....

quicken should work with lion.
Quicken Essentials will work with Lion. Most people that have used Quicken for a while (i.e. Quicken 2007) have found that Quicken Essentials isn't much better than a basic spreadsheet. It is a significant step down from previous versions and does not offer many of the features previously offered. Right now, it seems like the two most common options are iBank and MoneyDance.
Frankly... this is a major opportunity for these companies. The largest commercial distributor of this type of product has been Intuit (Quicken). That makes it hard for any other company to get any of that market as so many people were already using Quicken and may have had years of data stored in it. Now, with Quicken effectively out of the picture, it's a great chance for another company. Just imagine if iPhones were suddenly off the market. That would give other manufacturers a tremendous opportunity since they wouldn't have to fight an up hill battle against a market giant. -
How to upgrade iDVD 6.0.4 so it will work with Lion?
I still have the original iLife software that came with my Macbook in '07. Running iDVD 6.0.4 and now it won't start up in Lion. What course of action do I have to get a version that will work with Lion? I tried searching the App Store but only found iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band available.
The boxed iLife 11 that is available at local Apple stores or online at the Apple store (not the App Store) should include iDVD and iWeb. The boxed offereing will have iDVD and iWeb listed in small, gray text on the box, the back I believe. You can't get the iLife 11 suite of apps from the new "App Store".

A drive is a drive. It doesn't care what OS you put on it. If it's working with Snow now, it will work with Lion. But you need to be sure that's a Core 2 Duo and that you have adequate RAM. Lion likes a lot of RAM. The more the better. Do a search for "Lion system requirements."

It should do. Depends on how you define an 'older' TC. As long as your SW is up to date and the TC has relatively recent Firmware etc then there shouldn't be an issue.

Will iPhoto '09 work with Lion? Since I upgraded to Lion when I open a Facebook album in iPhoto I get the message "An error occurred with the publication of (album name)". The album was submitted successfully long ago. One of a few new quirks since the upgrade.
Crap. I think I might be out of luck. I'm trying to put it on a 2011 Mac Mini. And the new iPhoto is such crap by comparison.
