Win 7 TS - No apps or packages installing

Setting up OSD at a client - SCCM 2012 SP1 CU4. Using a .WIM of Win 7 SP1 Enterprise taken a while back in 2007 days and the TS is perfect. Client has downloaded W7SP1ENT form the VL and asked me to setup a fresh WIM file. I ran the Capture Task sequence.
Had issue that you don't seem to us the Operating system installers of old and now have to point to the install.wim from the Windows 7 image. Ok so did that and then had issues with it installing to D, so I recaptured with OSDPreserveDriveLetter=False which
fixed installing to C during the deploy
However, the TS that worked fine now fails to install anything - either apps or packages. Apps failing 80004005. Packages getting waiting for job status notification... and hanging
Also the CCM client is not registering in the console. ccmsetup.log looks fine. I have a custom package to patch CU4 - can't see any errors. Location services, ccmexec.log all look ok MPcert and list all ok
Eventlog showing .NET Runtime optimisation service failed to compile c:\windows\ccm\scclient,exe,config error code 8007000b is that has any bearing
So this only seems to be happening with the install.wim captured image
any thoughts?

Does this help?

What does "CCM client is not registering in the console" mean? You don't see a resource record being created in ConfigMgr after OSD finished?

  • App-V package running OK on Virtual PC but not on Physical PC

    Hi all,
I have very strange behavior of a app-v package that i am testing.
first i do the sequence on a virtual PC and then also check it on another virtual PC - the package running perfect!!
then i test it on a physical PC- the deployment working OK, also the program running OK. but some important functions that need to be on this program are not showing.
Then i do the sequence on a Physical PC- same issues.
As i wrote - this are the same package on both PCs. Virtual (Hyper V) - Working, Physical - not working.
    The versions: server -5.0 SP2, Sequencer- 5.0 Hotfix 4, Client - 5.0 SP2 Hotfix 5.
Also the OS (Win 7 With SP1 64Bit) is the same on both clients. the OS is clean just the prerequisite for app-v client and the app-v itself are installed.
What can cause this issue that the package won't working on physical PC?
Thank you all for your help.

    Hello,
    Regarding the procmon capture;
Yes, it is a lot of data. I would just start at the top and read my way down on both captures and then identify areas which they differ. Without understanding where the two captures differ, well - it would seem hard to understand where the difference in
    behaviour starts?
    Of course you can minimize the data by (this seems rather obvious, but lets re-iterate);
    1. Avoid all and any unnecessary background tasks
    2. Monitor normal system activity and exclude that
    3. Learn the application behavior and decide if you want to monitor only the application, or all system activity
    4. Understand the application
As you have a working / non-working scenario - this seems like a perfect scenario of using ProcMon.

  • Office 2013 app-v packages

In this article, http://blogs.windows.com/itpro/2013/12/02/announcing-mdop-2013-r2/   I see mention of an Office version called "Office 2013 ProPlus
App-V Package".    Is this a download?  I don't see it available as one when I login to my VLSC site.
We plan to install Office 2013 pro plus VLA LOCALLY (on C:) in our vdisk for virtual machines, but will want to stream Visio,Project,Access 2013 to our users' VMs, using App-V.    (We used to use Citrix XenApp to stream them)
In the Citrix world, "streaming" is the opposite of Publishing or Hosting (running the app ON the server). Streaming means it copies over the files to the user's C: drive on their VM when they launch the appl.
    Please advise.

    Hi,
As far as I know, Microsoft Office 2013 App-V packages are created by using the Office Deployment Tool (ODT). The created packages may have Subscription Licensing or Volume Licensing.
You need to download Office applications through the ODT first, then convert it into an Office 2013 App-V package with ODT tool.

  • Slow Mount for App-V Packages

    Hi,
I'm having an issue I first noticed with App-V 5 sequence packages deployed via ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 that are taking forever to mount.
To rule out ConfigMgr i've manually copied an app-v package (around 1GB) and ran the following powershell commands locally on a test client...
    Add-AppvClientPackage -Path "path to package" | Publish-AppvClientPackage -Global | Mount-AppvClientPackage -Verbose
The mount command takes around 25-35+ minutes to complete, which is the behaviour i'm seeing when ConfigMgr deploys the package to a client.
If i was to just run the MSI from the same sequenced App-V Package on a client system this would complete a number of minutes.
Whats the difference between how and what the MSI installer does and why is the mount command taking so long?
    App-V version is 5.0 SP1.
    Thanks,
    Doug

    +1
We similarly have 30 - 45 minute mount times particularly for the larger Autodesk products (using App-V Server infrastructure) compared to 2 - 3 minutes for exactly the same package sequenced in 4.6.
I raised a ticket with Microsoft and initially figuring it must be something in the way we were sequencing in 5.0. They played with one or two of our packages and gave a few tips to tidy up the packages, told us there were general performance issues at that
stage with 5.0 but essentially there was no answer. To us, a package taking 20 minutes to load against 30-45 does not real make a huge difference. It is not acceptable coming from what we had with 4.6.
I was told that a Hotfix was due to be released immediately after SP2 that would deal with some of the "performance issues" but no sign yet.
We have been rolling out Windows 8.1 across our regional offices and have taken to sticking a member of IT in all of the App-V Groups that are required for the local office and doing the Mount on the weekend as part of the install. We can't be rolling
out Windows 8.1 and then having the guys come in on a Monday and telling them they can't use any Apps for 2 hours. I'd be laughed out of the office.

  • App-V packages not streaming on VMWare View VDI

    Hello All,
We are currently running SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 on VMware View VDI's.
We maintain our golden image using SCCM OSD.
NExt to applications installed in the image, we are also using app-v packages.
Before we can deploy the image, it needs to be stripped (or sysprepped) so as to garantuee that the clones will not report to the Management Point using the same SCCM Guids etc.
There for we perform the following:
    net stop "CcmExec"
    Remove-Item c:\windows\smscfg.ini
    Get-ChildItem -Path cert:\LocalMachine\SMS | Remove-Item
    Get-wmiObject -Namespace root\ccm\invagt -class inventoryActionStatus | where {$_.inventoryactionID -eq "{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001}" } | remove-wmiobject
    Clear-EventLog -logname Application
    Clear-EventLog -logname System
    Clear-EventLog -logname Security
    Get-ChildItem c:\windows\ccm\logs | remove-item
When we deploy the new version of an image, we see that APP-V packages are not being streamed immediately to the clients.
While troubleshooting, I noticed that whenever I login and run a Machine Policy Evaluation & Retrieval cycle, that a ccmrepair and ccmrestart is being executed.
After the restart, the client immediately starts streaming the App-V packages.
Can anyone help me in pinpointing where the ccmrestart gets triggered from?
I've searched to already a lot of logs (ccmexec, execmgr, policyagent, policyevaluator,..) for the root cause but am unable to find it.
    Many thanks in advance!
    Filip Theyssens

    Hi,
I just ran the action "Machine Policy Evaluation & Retrieval cycle" on my client, the Ccmrepair and Ccmrestart were not being executed from the logs.
You could trigger the CcmRestart by running "%windir%\CCM\CcmRestart.exe".
    Best Regards,

  • APP-V package refuses to run...

I created an APP-V package for an application called SigmaPlot 12.5.
During sequencing the app ran fine.  It is configured to run on any OS
When I install on client machine, it will not run..no error message..app-v client starts and then quits almost immediately
As a newbie, I am at a loss as to what to look for to resolve the issue.

  • How do I UNINSTALL my CS4(Vista) from my WIN 8 NEW PC? It wont INSTALL, and NOW wants me to PAY TO UPGRADE to UNINSTALL.

I purchased CS4 back when. And I never had any problems running it on my laptop (Vista). I finally used up all my 250gb hard drive and my husband just bought me a new WIN 8 desktop. I tried INSTALLING using my CD but WIN 8 wouldnt allow me to install. Adobe said I had to PAY TO UPGRADE so that I could finish INSTALLING. Well NOW since I am unable to do so, I tried going to the CONTROL PANEL and UNINSTALLING. But Adobe REFUSES to UNINSTALL since I do not have the UPGRADE version to allow to do so.
SO NOW.............I am unable to INSTALL my iCloud program or any other program because my WIN 8 is "currently installing Adobe" and refuses to allow me install another program or Uninstall Adobe.

  • Sharepoint opendocument class add-on removed within the app-v package

    Hi all,
On my environment the computers have the office installed locally (Office professional plus), I'm sequencing a package with Office Pro Plus + Visio + Project. The objetive of this is to let the users use visio and project for a certain amount of
    time.
When I remove the package from the client the IE opendocument class add-on is removed, then they aren't able to edit office documents in sharepoint. The solution to this issue was to repair office. But this won't work on our production environment.
Do any of you have faced a problem like this or do you now any way to prevent that the add on will be removed ?
    My environment is:
    App-V 5 SP1 (Server and client)
The package contains: Office 2010 Professional Plu, Visio Standard, Project Standard, the office deployment kit.
The packages are administered with the app-v management console.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

Office installed locally and delivered as an App-V package isn't supported, I'd suggest that if Office Pro Plus is installed, then also install Visio and Project.
Note that Office applications licensed through Volume License, are device-based licensing. I would be very careful about providing Office suites/applications to users for a certain amount of time, as that does not adhere to the license agreement. Be careful
in case your company is audited.
If you need to provide users with access to Visio and/or Project, then you need to license the users's physical device.

    Hi,
I have this powershell-line to deploy an App-v package. Only thing is that the deployment time appears wrong. I just wanted to set the deployment deadline date to 2015/04/21 10:00 but it appears as 12:00 when used this Powershell line:
    Start-CMApplicationDeployment -CollectionName $DeviceCollectionNameAppV -Name $FullAppVName -DeployPurpose $DeployPurpose -DeployAction Install -UserNotification DisplayAll -DeadlineDate $DeadlineDate -DeadlineTime $DeadlineTime -AvaliableDate $AvailableDate
    -AvaliableTime $AvailableTime

    $AvailableTime = "21:00" #$Time

  • 1 App-v package (5.0) won't start, howto repair (default repair won't work)

    Hi,
I have this one App-v applicationon a server that won't start, I get some strange error what doesn't give any results in google. The application works fine on another server so the application itself is fine.
I tried to remove the package via powershell but it won't let me. Now I tried
Get-AppvClientPackage -All | Remove-AppVClientPackage hoping it would clear the cache (just as in 4.6), they are effectively gone but they show as installed in software center. Tried a computer policy refresh (they
are published to computer) but no change.
Please advise on this + what is the proper way to correct this problem in general (1 app-v that won't start on 1 server, whereas the App-v application is ok)?
    J.
    Jan Hoedt

Don't have the message anymore and cannot reproduce it. Never mind, you can close this post.
Packages are getting through after a reboot. I was only looking for an easy way to repair app-v packages, the powershell can do that but it does not refresh it directly, a reboot was necessary.
    Jan Hoedt
Your best bet is to run a repair from the App-V console on the client. If you are using App-V 5.0 SP2+ then download the UI and run the repair

  • 1 App-v package for server and clients?

    Hi,
Please verify if this setup is correct.
The idea is to deploy an App-v 5.0 package to servers as well as pc's.
Deploy of an app-v package with 2 deployment types:
1.for a Windows 2008 R2 without any dependency = prereq Windows 2008 R2 (no dependency to App-v 5 since it is installed in build of server)
    2.for a Windows 7 X64 with dependency App-v 5.0 hotfix 5 (which has a dependency to App-v 5)
    ... and 2 deployments:
1.to a terminal server farm (which has App-v 5.0 RDS deployed already), mandatory
2.to Windows 7 pc's (not to users for now), also mandatory
This to avoid having two sepeare App-v applications for the same source.
    Please advise or correct.
    J
    Jan Hoedt

Looks fine, I have stopped using the App-v client as a dependency, I set it as a requirement instead as it makes it easier to manage the App-v client as there are no dependecies to take care of.

  • APP-V Packaging Web Client

Hi - I am working on a project where I need to package The Microsoft Azure Remote App available here: https://www.remoteapp.windowsazure.com/ClientDownload/Windows.aspx
The systems this app will be installed on, the users have no admin rights and app locker prevents unauthorized apps from being launched. So all apps need to be deployed via SCCM to only approved users.
I previously tried created a web-app package using the link provided with the installer
    40588c6e-fe09-424e-b9ca-a24550a1532e.remoteapp.windowsazure.com
(I have tried this with http// and https://  starting)
Unfortunately what happens is it deploys a link to a webpage that when loaded tells me it can't display the content.
SO I was wondering how I can APP-V this Remote App so I can deploy it to the approved desktops (or if you know another way I can capture this to install?)
I know this is an unconventional way but my environment is for deploying this to laptops that are extremely locked down and again the users have no admin rights.
    Please help.

It's a clickonce application, therefore see Remko's post:

Can anyone suggest useful software apps to have installed on my macBook to use with my 4th grade special education students?

    Apps to do what with??
Good place to look for software:

And for free alternatives to some popular software packages:

(If you see an ad there for something called MacKeeper, ignore it and on no account install it - it is malware.)
And there is of course also the App Store!

  • ARD 3.7.2 package install failure + Packagemaker

I recently downloaded ARD in hopes that I could use it to manage the Macs on my network.  I am trying to use the "install" option but when I do I get the error "mypackage.pkg" could not be installed.  Error message " ".  That's not terribly informative.  My issue at the moment though is that I can't find a lof or report that I can use to troubleshoot.  Where is the error log?  Also, where can I get packagemaker?  I have googled around and some posts say that it can be downloaded from the dev's site (I could not find it there) and others say that it's included with ARD.  A few posts said something about Xgrid so I tried to download it from the app store but I keep getting an error that it can't be downloaded, please try again.  And help would be greatly appreciated!

Does your package install ok when you do it interactively?
The Console App on the target machine may have error messages that will give you a clue.
Often packages that work fine interactively do not work via ARD install. The fix is usually to repackage the app.
Historially, packagemaker was distributed free to developers as part of XCode. Not sure about pkgbuid.
You may also want to take a look at Jamf Composer. Its sold seperately from their Casper Suite.  We find it helpful for repackaging.

  • Apps no longer install from iTunes and disappear from home screen

Everything went fine until a few days ago, with no change I can discern, apps no longer installed from iTunes. They did install when I deleted them in iTunes, synced, then installed from the Touch. Now even that is failing unless I reset settings on the Touch after every install session. Resets make these apps appear but I have to do it all over again to install new apps and, again, only from the Touch. I
've reset in iTunes twice to a brand new iPod. Have tried installing one app at a time and can't find a culprit. This is a new development so I'm not inclined to think it's hardware. Can a bad app do this to a second generation Touch three months old running 2.2? I've never been near a jaibreak thing.

If you mean hardware I wonder why it would develop out of nowhere. It's a flash drive, yes? If it's a software problem wouldn't it be fixed by a reset. Remember that apps show up after resetting settings on the touch itself but doing that after every installation is a drag.
