Winamp with ROKR/SLVR - Almost working! There's hope yet!

As several other users have noted, copying songs to a phone with iTunes is painfully slow. Quite often my songs take 15+ minutes PER SONG to copy. That speed cannot be blamed on transcoding or USB 1.1.
Recently an online group released v1.42 of the mlipod plugin for winamp ( http://www.mlipod.com/ ), which lets you manage your ipod through winamp's media library. A major new feature of this plugin is SLVR compatibility! After installing it and testing it, I can say three things:
1: Copy speed is MUCH faster than iTunes. Each song takes about 15 seconds. That's more like it!
2: Transcoding does not work, so you have to manually select 192kbps or lower mp3s to copy over. This covers much, but not all of my collection. Sadly, the stuff I like most I've made a point of getting at higher bitrates.
3: There are still bugs. After the 2nd batch of songs that I copied over, my entire song library on my phone disappeared. Not cool. It might be a one time thing, but the plugin IS new, so we'll see.
Anyway, conclusions to draw from this:
1: slow copy speeds are iTunes fault, and NOT usb 1.1.
2: There is hope in sight. If they can add transcoding (and they will be soon), then this will work great for many users.
Honestly, I do prefer iTunes as a media manager over winamp. But 15 minutes per song? That's just not acceptable.

Hi Grant
I took the 2nd harddrive out and put it in the caddy and it was fine. So that has indeed narrowed it down to something internal, either the cable or the SATA port on the motherboard.
Iv been looking on ebay to find a harddrive cable, but there seems to be some listed with a extra part, some listed with the infared diode. Not sure which one to get. Both part numbers are the same. iFixit shows type 2.
Type 1

Type 2

Also, has anyone bought these cables from china? Comes with warranty. Or is it best to buy from iFixit?
Thanks
Zed
