Windows 10 Upgrade Salellite - Resolving battery and power issues

My upgrade seemed to go smoothly until I tried to unplug my laptop and use it with the battery. It shut down even though it shows that I have 100% charge. It was working fine before the upgrade. When I put my model into the site it says that it is not compatible for the upgrade but otherwise everything seems fine so far except that I cant use my battery. Someone I know suggested that I might need to download a driver but I have no idea which one or if that is the problem. I would appreciate some help with this. I have Satellite C875-S7303. Model # PSCBAU-009005.  If anyone knows what I can do that would be so great. Thank you!

  • Battery and power issues in T43

    Hi!
I have a 2005 Think pad T43, that for the last month won't charge the battery. It is connected and the battery indicator light is on, but the battery keeps going down when plugged in to AC adapter. It was able to charge when I reset the battery soon after I first noticed this problem, but after that was finished, the problem remains. I then proceeded to use my computer with the battery removed and connected to the AC adapter. This worked for about 2-3 weeks until it suddenly turned off without warning. I turned it back on, it started to boot, then turned off again. I tried putting the battery back in, which succeeded in booting my computer, but then the battery died. I tried taking out the battery, unpluging it, and holding down the power button, but that did not help. My computer would turn on for a few seconds each time I turned it on, then would turn off. Now, it won't turn on at all, not even an indicator light. When the battery is in and it is plugged in, the battery indicator light is on. My battery and AC adapter are about a year old.
I really don't want to buy a new computer but realize I might have to if I can't inexpensively fix this one. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

  • Windows 10 upgrade on Ideapad Y460p and compatibility issues

Hello World, After getting an upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on my Y460p, following features are not working - Slide NavVolume sensorsMute ButtonLenovo one key theatre Trackpad's scrolling (vertical)It seems like all the "non-key" features have been stopped. Whereas the same features (E.g volume adjustment) using keys are running fine. I first thought may be Windows 10 messed up the installations of those softwares, although all other things in my laptop was fine. I uninstalled and reinstalled few of the drivers for above features from my backup but still no worky. Im lacking idea on this ideapad. Pallav

I also upgraded my Y460p to Windows 10. Features 1 - 4 on your list are now not working. My trackpad's scrolling is working well as before. Did you check Synaptics settings? All the features on the list are apparently related to Synaptics trackpad driver. The new Synaptics trackpad driver installed by Windows 10 doesn't have any clue about the SlideNav and buttons on top of the keyboard on Y460p. Specifically it lacks a program named SynBtnAsst.exe which seems used to recognize SlideNav and extra buttons. I reverted my Synaptics driver to the one for Y460p. Now when I slide a finger along the SlideNav bar, the mouse pointer moves with it. Tapping on the SlideNav bar has the same effect as tapping on the trackpad. So I think the Synaptics driver for Y460p restored its abiliy to recognize SlideNav and buttons, but we still need updated SlideNav and other software to fully restore its functionalities. Since Y460p is an old model, I kind of exepext Lenovo will not release updated software for it any time soon or at all.

Here's the information from Microsoft about the update program. Hopefully there will be an announcement soon from .... hardware vendors
Announcing the Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program & Windows 7 Pricing – Bring on GA!
    http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/windows7/archive/2009/06/25/announcing-the-windows-7-upgrade-option...
As Brad discussed in the video, today we’re announcing details for the Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program, pricing, and a special pre-order offer for select markets.
But first, I want to talk a little bit more about GA and the worldwide availability of Windows 7. We’ve really focused a lot of our efforts on getting the product out to as many people around the world as quickly as possible. OEMs will start shipping PCs with Windows 7 in all language versions beginning on GA, October 22nd.
And for our retail software, we’ve made significant strides in terms of timing. Gone are the days when it could take months for all language versions to be available. In fact – we’ve narrowed the gap to just over ONE week!
On October 22nd, Windows 7 will be available in the following 14 languages: English, Spanish, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Chinese (Hong Kong).
Then on October 31st, the remaining 21 languages will become available: Turkish, Czech, Portuguese, Hungarian, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Greek, Ukrainian, Romanian, Arabic, Lithuanian, Bulgarian, Estonian, Slovenian, Hebrew, Thai, Croatian, Serbian Latin, and Latvian.
Windows 7 truly is a global release and I’m excited to be able to tell my international friends that when I say Windows 7 will be available for the holidays – I mean everywhere in the world.
But, you don’t have to wait until GA to get a new Windows PC. In fact, we know many people need that new PC sooner – for back to school specifically. And we have the answer for people who need a new PC now but still want to get Windows 7 and that’s the Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program, which kicks off tomorrow, June 26th! Anyone who buys a PC from a participating OEM or retailer with Windows Vista Home Premium, Business or Ultimate on it will all receive an upgrade to the corresponding version of Windows 7 at little or no cost to customers. The Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program will be available until January 31st, 2010 – and is global! For more information on taking advantage of the Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program, visit www.windows.com/upgradeoffer.
Another one of the most common questions I get is: how much will Windows 7 cost? Well, today we’re sharing these details.
For Windows 7, we are reducing the price on our most popular retail product for customers, the Home Premium Upgrade, by approximately 10% (depending on the market). In the U.S., this means a customer buying Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade will pay only $119.99 instead of the $129.99 being charged today for its predecessor.
Overall, customers will be paying less and getting more with Windows 7. This includes fun new features such as HomeGroup, Device Stage, Aero Shake, Snap, Peek, Jump Lists and our completely redesigned Windows Taskbar (one of my favorite new features in Windows 7 today). These new features make your PC simpler and much easier to use.
So here’s the low-down on pricing for Windows 7. The estimated retail prices for upgrade packaged retail product of Windows 7 in the U.S. are:
Windows 7 Home Premium (Upgrade): $119.99
    Windows 7 Professional (Upgrade): $199.99
    Windows 7 Ultimate (Upgrade): $219.99
And the estimated retail prices for full packaged retail product of Windows 7 in the U.S. are:
Windows 7 Home Premium (Full): $199.99
    Windows 7 Professional (Full): $299.99
    Windows 7 Ultimate (Full): $319.99
This means that Windows 7 Home Premium full retail product is $40.00 less than Windows Vista Home Premium today.
As Brad describes in the video, for Europe, we will not have a separate upgrade SKU for the packaged retail product versions of Windows 7 at GA. But we will be offering upgrade pricing on our full licenses to make sure that European customers who want to upgrade have the pricing options available in the rest of the world.
Finally, as a way of saying thank you to our loyal Windows customers, we are excited to introduce a special time limited offer! We will offer people in select markets the opportunity to pre-order Windows 7 at a more than 50% discount. In the US, this will mean you can pre-order Windows 7 Home Premium for USD $49.99 or Windows 7 Professional for USD $99.99. You can take advantage of this special offer online via select retail partners such as Best Buy or Amazon, or the online Microsoft Store (in participating markets).
This program begins tomorrow in the U.S., Canada and Japan. The offer ends July 11th in the U.S. and Canada and on July 5th for Japan or while supplies last. Customers in the UK, France and Germany, can pre-order their copy of Windows 7 starting July 15th and will run until August 14th (or supplies last) to ensure folks don’t miss out on this. Act fast if you want to be the first in line to get Windows 7 at this screaming deal! Note: The special low pre-order price will vary per country.
For more information on this special pre-order offer,
I am really excited to be sharing these Windows 7 announcements with you today. Because of the great feedback we received from you, we are confident we are poised to deliver a great product this fall!

Having purchased my Thinkpad T500 two weeks ago, I'll be a little miffed if I am not eligible for a free upgrade to Windows 7.  However, my pain will be eased a little by the TechNetPlus subscription that will allow me to download and install the RTM bits sometime in mid-to-late July.
I really do think Microsoft continues to miss the boat on their retail OS and Office pricing.  Keep Windows between $50 and $100, and Office $75 to $150 and you're going to have loads of people buying instead of seeking out ways to not pay for it.

  • T42P. Does not boot/startup. Black screen. All indicators except the battery and power are off.

    Hi all,
I am new to the forum and so very desperate for help!
I have a T42P (2373-C61) machine. All of the sudden today, it blue-screened. I turned it off, then tried to turn it back on.
Now, it is not coming up at all. I can not even get to the BIOS or see anything in the screen!
All the lights/indicators are off except these two: the battery/power and the little z (the on indicator).
The NumLk and Caps Lock indicators flash every 15 seconds or so.
The hard drive, bluetooth, and wireless lights are off completely.
Tried getting to the BIOS by unplugging the battery and using the AC only but nothing happens when I press F1 or the IBM button.
Also, tried a suggestion from other users that requires unplugging Battery/AC, pressing Power button 10 times, then the 11th time for 30 sec. Still nothing happens.
No HW/SW was added to the machine recently...
    Any suggestions is appreciated..

It can also be the LCD itself...
BTW, if the graphic card has failed that equals motherboard replacement since it's soldered to the planar...
    Let's hope not...
Good luck and keep us posted.
    Cheers,
    George

  • I have a battery and Memory issue - late macbook pro 2011

Macbook Pro 13" Late 2011 Model
    Battery Issue
After upgrading to Lion, my batter life is 3 hours after full charge. It was 7-8 hours in leopard.
Hoping this is a common issue and someone has a quick solution.
    Memory Issue
I had 4GB Ram and found it would run to virtually nothing and not free any inactive RAM. I though the solution to this was to buy more RAM, which I did.
I now have 8GB RAM and it agains runs to virtually nothing on non labour intensive software like safari or mail. It doesnt free up any RAM when it reaches a certain point. Instead it freezes and I'm forced to restart the computer. I use Final Cut Pro X and Photoshop/Illustrator fairly regualry. I'm assuming the RAM is is used with those but even when these are closed the RAM is low.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers

You should take your Mac to an official apple retail store, as it is not common to have these problems regarding battery and memory.

  • Battery and Magsafe issues

I've had my Macbook for about 9 months and I am having issues with the magsafe and battery. If I try to run the computer without the battery installed it shuts down the first time it tries to access the HDD or requires even light use of the processor. In turn, whenever the compuer is plugged in, the battery charge hovers at about 95% and is constantly charging. As a result of this, the battery stops working at about 50% charge (The computer just dies mid-task and never goes to sleep) even though my cycle count is only 174. If I were to bring the computer in, could they replace the battery and magsafe since I am still under warranty?

Seems I failed to read your post carefully the first time - apologies!
First off, try resetting the SMC:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319
If that fails to correct the problems, then you will need to contact AppleCare (or make a genius bar appointment and bring it into an Apple Store). It may be as "simple" as battery+charger, and they may start there, but it may also be an internal hardware issue. It's definitely a hardware issue, though, so you're covered under warranty.

  • Battery and WiFi issues after upgrade to 1.1.1?

Since my upgrade to 1.1.1, my iPhone has had HORRIBLE battery life. I charged it all night last night and it is only almost noon, and I have not used it much at all, and it is already DEAD. It forced shutdown just now.
Another issue that I have been having is the phones lack of ability to find any wireless networks without first rebooting the phone.
I have done a full restore on the phone as well as a restore without restoring from backup, and the results have been the same.
Has anyone else had these issues?

  • Windows 8 upgrade problems (touch screen and audio)

my computer is HP touchsmart 600 1005xt and recently upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8 (64-bit)
after up grading I noticed that the touch screen does not work and and the speakers also did not work

    HI,
Here are a few tips that might help you to get your touch screen working:
Activate Windows and install updates by pressing the Windows logo key + W. Type "Activate Windows" into the search field, and then click on the Activate Windows icon that appears in the upper left corner of the screen. In PC Settings, click on Activate Windows, wait for your computer to connect to Microsoft, and then follow the onscreen instructions. Restart the computer. Press the Windows logo key + X, and select Control Panel from the menu. In the upper right corner of Control Panel, select Large Icons from the View by drop down. Click Windows Update. Install touch and/or graphics driver updates. Restart the computer.
Another thing to try: Go to the HP Support and Drivers site and click Drivers and Software.  In the search field, enter your product name or number, and then click Next. Select your operating system from the drop-down, and then click next. (If you don't know if your operating system is 32- or 64-bit, press the Windows logo + X key again and select System from the menu.) Follow the onscreen directions to install any appropriate drivers. Restart the computer.
If the touch still doesn't work, try this: Press press the Windows logo + X key, and select Device Manager from the menu. In Device Manager, click the little triangle next to Display Adapters to expand the list. Right-click on the graphics card and select Disable. When asked if you want to disable the card, click yes. Restart the computer. You may have to tinker with your screen resolution.

  • Looking to upgrade the video card and power supply in the K330

Hello, I'm looking to upgrade the power supply and video card in the Lenovo IdeaCentre K330 but I need to know if these parts will be accepted by the mobo.
Here's the card name (no link, don't know if theres a restriction to off site links) ASUS 2GB GDDR5 DIGI+ VRM technology Graphics Cards HD7770-2GD5
The power supply name follows: Xion High Performance 1000 Watt ATX Power Supply XON-1000P14F
Thanks for reading, and extra thanks for a good reply

Thanks for replying, I have looked into other PSU's and came up with this: XFX PRO750W Core Edition 80+ Bronze ATX 750 Energy Star Certified Power Supply
Feedback? And main question is, will they both (video card and PSU) be compatible with the motherboard that come standard in the K330?
I don't really have a need for the front panel except the power, and backontrack buttons.
Also, the reason why I'm getting a high wattage PSU is because I might later decide to build my own PC with the upgraded parts, and put the old parts back into the K330

  • Windows 7 Upgrade: Cannot install Rescue and Recovery 4.3

I recently upgraded my T500 from Vista to Windows 7.
I have downloaded the following Lenovo software: Lenovo Thinkvantage Software Toolbox and Lenovo System Update 4.
I would also like to install Rescue and Recovery 4.3.  I downloaded the program from Lenovo's site, but I cannot get it to install properly.  I keep getting an error indicating that Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x64) SP1 must be installed.  I downloaded this from Microsoft's site and installed it, but I keep getting the same error.
    And help???

Hi guys I have the same problem, however after installing the 2005 version of the package from the link provided by lenovo here (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4Q2QAK&AID=10429688&PID=3719336&...
I went to the control panel and checked what version of this package is installed. The case was that there were 3 versions of Visual C++ 2005 redistributable already installed.  This is a fresh installation of Win7 - 64bit
I removed all of them and reinstalled the one suggested by lenovo.
    The problem still continues.
I also noticed the following article from about the same time the package was released in 2006 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920854
Could it be that the RnR tool can not detect the redistributable package?
So far I have no idea how to solve this. Any help is appreciated.

I recently upgraded to the Windows 10 from Windows 7. Now the touchpad single/double tapping not working.  I have an HP laptop.  If there is no solution to this problem then I will just revert back to Windows 7. Thanks,

I have same problem-I spent about half an hour with microsoft   assistant on phone who eventually after several failed attempts to rectify problem, appeared to give up and advised that touchpad was incompatible  with windows 10 and finally advised that I needed a driver update from HP the manufacturer of my notebook. However I have tried HP support assistant online and my driver is up to date and after several attemps by HP assistant to solve problem I am no further forward and very disappointed-afterall the touchpad is a pretty basic tool of computers/pc -well for those that do not have touch screens Hope you have better luck than I have had today.
