Windows 2008 R2 TCP/IP KeepAliveTime not working

Hi,
We have configured the KeepAliveTime for the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Tcpip\Parameters both on the server and the client and time for the KeepAliveTime is 300000(5 minutes). Now , we restarted the computers after setting this
parameter in the windows registry.
When checking the firewall we do not see the keepAlive packets flowing through the firewall. The session seems to be expiring because of the firewall timeout after sixty minutes and we get network error on the server because of the idle session. could someone
explain what is the reason the KeepAlive packets is not flowing between the server and the client for every five minutes as configured. The OS is windows 2008 R2 64 bits.
We did research on different sites about this topic but we could not find any correct answer which is the reason we had posted in this forum.

So you've posted this question about Windows Server 2008 in a group discussing Windows Embedded Compact. That's pretty different and I doubt you'll get a definitive answer here. Having said that, I'll give it a go anyway:
Keep-alive is designed to keep ***a connection*** alive. It's a per-connection setting and both server and client in that connection must enable it in their code to make it work. The registry settings control how it works, but it won't happen unless
the server and client enable it for the connection they make with each other. My best guess is that one or the other is not doing that.
I see no way the firewall could be responsible for this. Keep-alive packets aren't some strange beast that the firewall can detect and filter; they're just ordinary TCP packets without data, to which the other end of a connection sends an ACK, triggering
original sender to ACK. That's one keep-alive transaction. If you aren't seeing those packets at the firewall, back to my first guess: no one is sending them.

It might be the graphic driver not compitable with the graphic device. Has there been a change to the graphic driver?
One thing you can try is to uninstall graphic driver and download the latest from Windows Update (if you haven't tried this). Here are the possible steps:
1. Go to Control Panel->Hardware and Sound->Device Manager, uninstall the graphic card driver by right clicking and select "uninstall". Make sure the option "Delete the driver software for this device" is selected.
2. Reboot the system.
3. Go to Control Panel->System and Security->Windows Update, click on "Optional updates" and find the driver for g210 and do the update.

I have a couple of suggestions that may help with this issue. My first suggestion would be to uninstall and reinstall the drivers for the keyboard.
Follow these steps to do that:
Click the "Start Menu"
Type "Device" in the search box under all programs
Select "Device Manager"
Click "Keyboards"
Remove all devices under keyboards by right clicking and selecting" uninstall" on each device
Restart the computer
How long has the button not been working?

Swiping left to right or right to left should work if you're in the right place.
For example, try it in Music > Songs (button in lower right).

Windows 8 Folder Redirection/offline files not working

I am trying to deploy 4 brand new HP Laptops running windows 8 Professional into a windows 2008 domain however folder redirection is not working
These users have folder redirection enabled via group policy and this works fine under their old laptops in windows 7
For windows 8 I see an error in the event log :
Error 7023 - The offline files service terminated with the following error : the system cannot find the path specified
I also get this error if I manually try to start the offline files service.
This is happening on all 4 brand new laptops. All latest available updates installed.

The error as you have already observed is a critical error blocking the service from running. So that must be about the computer software configuration.
You claim brand new, latest updates etc. - however to use i.e. folder redirection, gpo's etc. you're modifying the software configuraton. I.e. not quite brand new or unchanged (except for those may be important changes, guess those machines are indeed brand
new or just bought ... however still in change as any other software managed machines)
For some reason could be corruption of system configuration, but how? Unlike coincidence of 3 of 4 computers failing to start that services? I.e. have you done any changes to offline files etc, scripts or some stuff with gpo's.
Try exploring the Windows log and take a look at the detail for the error events.
Use process monitor from Microsoft to trace what happens when you try to start the Windows service ...
Just tips for determining the bug ...
Out-of-the-box this should not happen ... for folder redirection and offline files ... it's actually the Windows client going to get those files ... so take a look at the client and try to trace the bug.
My best guess is something is changed on the client - and your customized system or software is doing it. Or something wrong with the configuration. I.e. if you have relocated the CSC cache ...
In my experience the best way to debug this problem is to use Process Monitor ... and i.e. come up with a fix based on the observations i.e. if you have relocated the csc cache to some place where it is actually not available or incorrectly configured
(i.e. take a look at the Result column and looked for failed operations in context with CSC cache operations)
If you don't know how to do this - don't relocate the CSC cache ... (i.e. if you did this to conserve space on i.e. your SDD's with i.e. smaller capacity than legacy-HD). The real problem is the Folder Redirection Client on the Window Client going to
pin the entire folder hierarchy of the users workspace, i.e. documents. Either move files out of that area or use group policy to disable pining entire user "storage area". Microsoft should make the Folder Redirection Client more flexiable, i.e. add option
to exclude part of folder hierarchy. But you can do this by using gpo to disable folder redirection auto-cache of all files - and then instead have users explicitly pin their mobile folders. However for some folders like favorites, desktop and so on you can
actually use batch and wmic to set pin of some folders containing usually less data using a startup script and gpo. That Works ... and simulates i.e. excluding the stored data in user libraries like documents, videos, music ...
... anyway added this based on a "suspension" on what you are really trying to obtain ... but the solution is not to move the CSC cache to aqquire more space, i.e. a user can put 1 TB in their videos ... the solution is to program the Folder Redirection
Client differently ... untill Microsoft add that functionality.

2008 Macbook pro left click not working properly after upgrading to 10.6.8

I have a 2008 Macbook pro and a few months ago after upgrading to 10.6.8 my left click has been wonky.
Using the trackpad the left click eventually gets "stuck" or stops responding and I have to push it multiple times before it does anything. I have tried plugging in a mouse, but when I do so the mouse also behaves the same way. The only way I seem to be able to get the clicking to work properly is to restart the computer with the mouse attached.
I have seen threads about trackpads being messed up by swollen batteries, but my battery is brand new and looks fine, and the clicking problem extends to an external mouse, so I believe it is something with the preferences.
I tried deleting com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouchTrackpad.plist and restarting and the problem seemed to be fixed, but then after about a half hour it returned.
Having to keep a mouse plugged into my macbook is driving me crazy, anyone know a solution?

I started having the same issue after update. I'm on a MacBookpro running 10.7.2
ICalled apple and they did a remove battery reboot, a reload lion and a option/command/R/P reboot on startup and then the computer started working. Two days later problem was back. I then did a reboot and the computer was back to working. Today the computer worked fine tell it went to sleep. I had to do a hard reboot to get the Mac up and running and now no left click. Please help. I can not use the Mac with the trackpad, a mouse, a Bluetooth mouse, or a digital pad. All so signs of left mouse click not working. One other item when you go to pick your user at startup the left mouse click works. Help!
