Windows 7 Retail

I don't know where to post this, but, here goes: I was wondering if I buy a physical disc/retail, boxed, copy of Windows 7 Home Premium, how many times can I use the product key? Can I use it an unlimited number of times? I do clean installs whenever it's needed.
This question was solved.

Hi,
Many good computer shops stock them, also you can find from the following link:
   http://www.google.com.au/webhp?nord=1#nord=1&q=windows+7+retail+box&tbm=shop
You can install to ONE machine, any time you need to re-install it you have to activate again.

I am having problems updating (using Windows 7)  retail version of PS Cs6 13.0.1.3. It will not allow update directly through Photoshop. After downloading from Adobe site directly, the Error code U44M2P7 comes up.  Trying to get help but Adobe making it very difficult.

  • Ei.cfg not being seen by windows installer on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit retail disk.

My problem is that the retail disk of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit has no ei.cfg restrictions. Instead of choosing the correct operating system ID, on install, the .cfg
is coming from some where else installing a custom version of windows that is a different version of windows than on the retail install disk that I have a software key to. Even though it recognizes the key as windows 7 the operating system no longer recognizes
the retail disk it was installed from as the same version of operating system. It seems that there is a pre operating system install to a volume that cant see the ei.cfg file on the windows retail disk. It is something like Windows ME or MCE and it is hard
to get past because it acts  like the operating system after install. It looks like there is a complete install of windows 7 but it is only a version of ME or MCE in the 100MB range installed to a partition volume. I am given a User account Profile within
Application Data folder  in the system. The actual windows system in its entirety does not exist in the partial virtual operating systems. All the installs are to Partition Volumes on the Partition of a GPT Server Partition on a Disk
on the Hard drive. All Virtual.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and 32bit retail disk is GSP1RMCHPXFRER_EN_DVD. The bios version on my Asus G75VX is American Megatrends version 206, V Bios version 80.04.97.00.13.N62G75500, EC version B14E140001. The operating system version is not the same

The above information was taken after an install from the Microsoft Windows 7 64 bit retail disk purchased at Fry's and installed to my Asus G75VX. It is a Network Managed Client Server configuration that installs from the retail disk.

I have been dealing with this problem since the day I purchased the first notebook from Best Buy configured this way and it was not even an Asus. It was a Samsung Chronos i7. The Asus G75VX I have now is the third notebook in a row purchased from Best Buy
with the configuration right out of the un open retail box. None out of the three came with windows 7 installed. They had windows 8 64bit installed with the configuration. I purchased Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit attempting to get around the configuration
    problem.
My main concern is that I use computers to do my legal documents in court cases in the United States Federal Courts and I am a pro se litigator and I have been litigating a civil action since 2011 that is still open in the federal court. I am also legally
disable and covered by Federal Communications Act FCC Rule 255. This configuration has Telephone software and equipment, Management Software and equipment, and Networking software and equipment all covered within FCC Rule 255. My notebook is unusable for litigation
or personal use as a Publicly Managed Network Client Server. I paid $1350.00 of my Social Security Disability income for the Asus G75VX and another $216.00 for Windows 7 Home Premium 32 and 64 bit DVD and that is not counting a list of other things to
now have a personal notebook computer I have to sat down beside me in public libraries, Colleges etc. to use their computers to do my legal work. It is illegal and total wrong and it is a violation of the Bill of Rights First and Fourth Amendments and Title
VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the American with Disability Act outside of 255.

  • Acrobat Version Type And Version Number, For Creative Suite 5 (5.0) / CS5 For Windows

I would like to know the version type and pricise version number for Acrobat that is supplied with Creative Suite 5 (5.0) for Windows Retail Version.  (This is the default version number, before any updates) :
    To summarise:
    For the product:
    Platform: Windows
    Suite: Creative Suite 5 (CS5) / 5.0
    Distribution: Retail
    Application: Acrobat
    I require:
Version Type: Standard / Pro / Extended
    Version Number (Precise): 9.0 / 9.3 / 9.3.2 / (or other)
Disc's Volume Label: (As shown in Windows Explorer)
Ideally this would be found by looking at Acrobat's HELP > ABOUT menu option. (From a Windows installtion of CS5, that has NOT been updated), and not just looking at what is printed on the disc label.
More replies of the above information, will confirm any information provided in replies.

    Hello
there are two ways i can suggest:
First your own account: https://www.adobe.com/account.html and
Second the general informations there: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html
    Helpful woud be http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html
And what concerns Amazon: this "serial number" obtained from Amazon is not a serial number, only a code with which you can request a serial number from Adobe. Here you have to go through "Adobe Store", and look for the button "Serial Number Request". Fill in the form and, after a while you will get a "real" serial number.

  • Windows 8.1 OEM Activation not working anymore ?

    Hello,
After asking here on the forum about restoring a deleted partition which question has been solved. We run into another problem.
My sister recently infected the Laptop at a point it became UNUSABLE! The HDD kept filling up, She had over 400GB remaining (girls stuff, unlike guys, they don't download many stuff); but suddenly the HDD filled up from 400GB remaining to 5GB
And...the computer is VERY SLOW at start, it used to take just few seconds to boot, but it took almost 5 minutes to boot when it was infected. We tried many antivirus softwares, the laptop came with a preinstalled one (can't remember which one), beside this, we tried Kaspersky, Avira, Avast, Eset and other Antivirus softwares.
Most of them failed to scan C:/ Drive with a error message such as "unable to scan  drive c".
So our best option was to reeinstall the system.
I firstly backep up the OEM Activation Keys (supposedly encrypted in the BIOS). I found useful tutorials online which allowed me to show which activation key is beinf used, so I just copied it in a safe place just in cas somthing go wrong. I didn't use a thirdparty software to display the key! Just Windows tools. A thirdparty application can't be VERY trustfull in term of Licence Keys.
I then downloaded a guenuine Windows 8.1 Pro from MSDN website with a product key.
The installation went flawlessly but when I restarted I noticed Windows Wasn't activated!
I then tried to use the earlier backed up key, sadly it didn't work, windows said that I can't use this key with this edition of windows.
    My questions are:
    - Can someone tell me WHY can't I use the OEM Activation on all windows edition ?
    - Is there any way to get it working on all editions anyways ?
    - Will a full reinstallation of Windows 8.1 Non-Pro version be activated automatically by the BIOS ?
    - If I buy an activation key for windows 8.1 pro, will this key somehow interfere with the one in the BIOS ?
    This question was solved.

    1. No it works only for that version that is made for Preminum for Preminum not Preminum for Professional that is a different Product Key.
    2. No, You will have to buy each O/S with different Product Key to activiate them
    3. No, If that O/S doesn't match the Product Key for the previous O/S it will not work or activiate giving you only 30day trial.
    4. No, it will not interfere it will though ask for the new Product Key from the Windows 8.1 Pro to activiate it.
So Product Keys are not tranferrable with the exception that if the replacement Windows Retail matches the previous Product Key Windows O/S version will permit the installation and comes the possiblity that you will have to reactiviate online to verify the Product key to get the O/S working.

  • I want to install CyberLink PowerDirector on my Macbook Pro but I need Windows software operating system to be install ? I need help!

I  downloaded PowwerDirector 12 trial and when I try to open it,  I got a message that "CyberLink PowerDirector was not compatible to Mac". After some inquiries, I found that I need Winows software operating system to be install in Mac! Can sombody help me?

For Windows on a Mac you'd have to own a Windows retail system installer with keycode, and use BootCamp utility in the Mac OS X to set up a partition on the computer hard disk drive (issues? if you have Apple Fusion Drive where a SSD + HDD are automatically co-joined) and then install the Windows system there.
Or get & use Parallels, or VMFusion software and use it along with Windows to run applications written for a Windows OS. And would need to have a large internal hard disk drive with plenty of room since the space for Windows takes away space for Mac OS X and its applications to run; and also you'd need plenty of chip RAM installed to run this other System plus software... and for Windows, its own anti-virual software not needed at all in a Mac.
Not sure about this, http://www.wondershare.com/video-editor/mac/ suggests in their advert to be something to use if you can't use the cyberlink product.
Or don't want to buy the upscale or pro Apple image software that does a fine job at a cost. I'd try & avoid running Windows in a Mac even though it can run three or more different OS, including linux/unix builds.
Never heard of either one: wondershare or cyberlink powerdirector.
(the latter looked 'more pro' for windows)
    {But check for any hint of some odd effects before you get and install any software from a marginal or unknown source, since adware can follow, and really odd things can start to happen then, like search engine redirects.}
Anyway, helpful information about your computer and its current configuration, OS X version, RAM installed, hard disk drive specs (free vs used capacity) are numbers that can make a difference going into a new thing. Even Mavericks alone is not an upgrade, often that requires a bunch of extra chip RAM capacity.
Not sure if this helps, another may offer more direct ideas...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • MacBook Pro, Fusion, & Windows

I bought my MacBook Pro in Oct, 2009 and I love it. I have concluded I need to set up a virtual machine for my Windows programs and documents. I purchased Fusion and installed it.
Trying to install my Windows XP disc isn't working so I suppose I need to buy a new Windows disc.
    1. Should I buy Windows XP or Windows 7? XP in on my old pc.
    2. Can I purchase an upgrade instead of the full program?
    Thanks

Before assuming you will need Windows, check these Windows alternative applications*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/crossplatform.html
You should get whatever version of Windows retail that is known to work with the said Windows applications if you still need Windows. Often the OEM & Windows system specific discs won't work in virtualized machines.

Bootcamp Assistant will read a DVD or an ISO file containing Windows retail versions and create a USB. What installation media for Windows do you have?
If you have a DVD drive and connect to your MAC (or if you have a built-in optical drive), put in your DVD for Windows, Run Disk Utility as indicated and click on the DVD to verify that there are no issues with the media.
Are you following the Bootcamp installation guide available from the apple website?

  • Business process ...

    Hi,
I have a central warehouse and about 8 retail outlets.I receive goods at central warehouse(St Loc) and transfer these goods to the 8 retail outlets.I sell the goods from these retail outlets and also I sell it from Central loaction  as a direct sale.
I have 2 options of mapping a business process for MM and SD.
    1.
I have one plant created with a St Loc for the central Warehouse(location) and remaining 8 retail outlets as different plants  with one St Loc each.
I have to maintain some 10k materials in all the plants since I sell them directly from Central plant or the 8 retail plants.
I will receive goods against PO in Central warehouse and transfer them to all other 8 locations(plants) against STO.
Now I can sell them from those plants as cash sell.
    2.
I have a central warehouse to be treated as plant and for all the other 8 retail outlets I will create one plant(say B) and under that I will create 8 loactions to be treated as retail outlets.
I will continue to receive the goods aginst PO in central WH as in case 1 and also transfer them to plant B against STO with Storage Location enetered per line item otherwise the goods will notmove to proper retail outlet.
Once received in each Storage location I will sell the goods from these loactions as acash sell.
I have to maintain business area linked to each plant to capture business information.
If i go by option 1, then I will have to create 9 business areas per plant and if I go by option 2 then only 2.
Considering all this I require some inputs/suggestion to choose the option between 1 and 2.
Which should be used and why ?
In any option the materilas will have to be created in all the 9 loactions whether I treat them as plants or one plant and one plant with 8 storage locations as to sell materials I need to have them in each storage location specifically in the option B
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,

    Hi,
I am sorry but this is a particular subject that I have VERY strong views on.
If the different sites have different addresses (even if they are in the same town) DO NOT use storage locations for them.
You will have stock movements between them and these are much better handled by plants.
    Also consider the following;
If you use astorage location for a site you have no way of breaking down that storage area further. You would not use WM and you cannot therefore have any further breakdown on where the stock is (such as cold store, warehouse, display window, retail shelves etc.).
Also consider (especially for the sites that are not in the same town) Info records.
What if one site is substantially further away from the vendor than the others? Lead times MAY be different, prices MAY be different etc.
Even if none of the above applies in your business NOW, can you be 100% sure that things might not change in the future.
Storage locations for sites definitely reduces the functionality available from MM.
Use plants for each address that is likely to hold stock and if this means more master data then manage that (by using mass uploads and changes). You maintain data far less frequently than you do receipts, issues, transfers, stock takes etc.

  • Satellite U500/01C N-Trig DuoSense

    Hi,
I recently purchased a brand new U500/01C ([PSU9BA-01C002|http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/notebooks/satellite/u500/psu9ba-01c002]) notebook computer with a N-Trig DuoSense digitizer (multitouch display) device built in. The device and software were working _perfectly_ up until about a week ago, when the software started displaying a notification window when opened "No devices found." The touch still works, however the functionality is limited (no multitouch or advanced gestures, etc.) and I can no longer calibrate the screen.
Despite the software reported no devices found, the hardware still shows up as installed and working properly in Device Manager; I have three entries under Digitizers: HID-compliant device x2 and N-Trig_DIGITIZER.
I have been troubleshooting and trying to solve the problem for the past week to no avail. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, removing the devices from Device Manager (including deleting drivers) and reinstalling, System Restore to multiple different restore points, reinstalling a fresh copy of Windows 7 from a retail disc and restoring the factory defaults from the TOSHIBA partition.
I have also searched everywhere I can think of for updated or even previous drivers but neither the [TOSHIBA website|http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/notebooks/satellite/u500/psu9ba-01c002/download] nor the [N-trig website|http://www.n-trig.com/CONTENT.ASPX?Page=Multi_touch] appear to have drivers for this model. The software/drivers I have been using are found in Start > All Programs > TOSHIBA > Applications and Utilities. They are version 2.224.
I have only tried 64-bit operating systems as I want to utilize all 4GB of memory. I have not yet tried a 32-bit installation.
Where should I go from here? I have contacted N-Trig but have not yet got a response. Is there a TOSHIBA support email I can write to? Should I try a 32-bit installation? Are there alternative drivers available anywhere? Have I got a faulty product?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Jim,
Thanks for the suggestion, I can't believe I missed it (I was only searching TOSHIBA Australia I think)
I have tried these drivers but there is no difference. Also, these drivers were apparently older than those that came prebundled with the computer (2.181 vs. 2.224).
I am surprised than not even a fresh install of Windows (retail) nor restoring the computer to the out of box state have made any difference.
I still only have one touch point and still cannot calibrate or activate multitouch under the software (still get the "No devices found" window).
Hopefully there is a solution out there.
    Thanks, Tim.

  • Arch Linux Workstation

I'm a DIY guy... with more than just computers. In the near future I am planning to use Arch Linux 64bit for a professional use environment. I'll also be building a new system after the new upcoming standards go mainstream. All the programs I'll be using will be heavily extended and modified versions. Windows (retail license) has far too much bloat, but I'll dual boot it on a separate HDD. Photoshop, Coldfusion and/or etc... are nice except for the added cost. I am trying to decide on a shell and solid programs to perform my needs. Any recommendations regarding additional open source platforms/programs, modified versions, superior alternatives or extensions? Opinions are welcome too.
    Photography -> GIMP
    3D Rendering -> Blender
I'm searching for modified versions plus extensions to create ultra realistic images and models. Not for creating games.
    2/3D CAD -> ?
I have my doubts about what I have seen thus far. I'd rather have a commercial grade program available on Linux than deal with a bunch of time wasting hassle when trying to create models. Maybe someone in who has been down this road can curb my appetite.
    Office Suite -> LibreOffice
I write on a regular basis. Out-of-box it has a lot of nice features. Microsoft Office 2010 is what I am using now. I am hoping to find extensions to add the missing features found in the newest Microsoft Office.
    Pro E-mail Client -> ?
I'm looking for an Outlook replacement. Thunderbird is not something I am too akin to after my numerous issues with Mozilla's FireFox on several (5+) computers.
    Web Development -> Notepad++ w/ Aptana Studio
I own a website with several domains. For the past few months it has been blank as I decide on the layout. It will feature a pro online portfolio, blog and etc... Not for general or family usage. Pre-made templates are a no-go. I'm experienced with some CSS, HTML and etc...
    Etc...

I don't know exactly what you mean with 'modified versions', as for extensions/plugins/addons I've heard great things about BSurfaces. As for creating ultra-realistic models, certainly Blender is capable of that, but obviously your own skill will be the determining factor. These days most character-focused modeling is done using 3d sculpting methodology and Blender has good support for this. I've been doing some spare time sculpturing myself from time to time using Blender and while it's obviously not near as powerful as commercial 'sculpting-dedicated' offerings such as ZBrush, or Mudbox, it's still very capable. Here's some old (2+ years) stuff I sculpted in Blender back when I was playing around with lots of 3d sculpting in my spare time:

So if you have any questions pertaining to Blender sculpting I'd be happy to share what I know. As for rendering, it seems the new Cycles renderer is the future but I haven't had any real experience with it so I can't help you there (and I really suck at rendering anyways).

  • Product Key in Rescue Discs

Most OEM computers have 2 product keys: the one on the CoA sticker and the one the OEM uses for mass activation. If you need to reinstall Win 7 NOT using the rescue discs, you can do so successfully with the CoA key. But if you read the OEM key using Jelly Bean and try to use that key, it will not work. Yet the recovery discs must save the OEM key and reinstall it if you do a complete reinstall. Why does the OEM key work in that case and not is a user did a reinstall from a Win7 .iso, (installing the same version as on the CoA sticker)?

    Wendel wrote:

The recovery disks specifically recover a Thinkpad to its factory state, with the factory licenced Microsoft OS installed including the embedded volume licence key.
Windows retail media cannot accept that sort of key, which is why there is a unique key for the relevant Microsoft OS on the CoA.
The Microsoft End User Licence Agreement for the volume licence key version of the relevant Microsoft OS is only valid when there is a valid Microsoft COA with a unique key for the OS concerned attached to the system hardware.

    Hi,
I bought Windows 7 OEM pro and installed it on my thinkpad X61s which had Vista preloaded before.
Now I want to sell the X61s (of course with Vista), and buy an IdeaCenter. Is it possible to install the windows 7 pro on the IdeaCenter?
    Thanks!

The OEM EULA for Windows operating systems only allows you to install the OS on one system only, ever.
Under the terms of the EULA you are not authorised to transfer the licence to a different system under any circumstances.
If you need that sort of flexibility, you need to purchase Windows retail licenced product, not OEM licenced product.

As I tried to fix, I first realized and replaced the CMOS battery, then later the HDD, and later the palm rest.
At some point, with the CMOS battery in or out, and HDD either in or out, the laptop said it needed a correct system date.  I went into BIOS and just selected 3/27/2015, and left the time with whatever it was showing.
This resulted in allowing the boot to progress to the screen stating that it could not start up, and asking to run in safe mode, safe mode with networking, last good configuration, or normally.
I tried safe mode, last known good, and normally.  All of them resulted in the windows logo and loading bar (XP), and then it showed an error screen for a fraction of a second... and looped back to the boot sequence leading back to asking whether to try safe mode, safe with network, last known good, normal.
Then, later I installed the palmrest, in case that was related.
Still, the boot efforts all resulted in the same thing... an extremely briefly-displayed error page (too brief to read anything), and then instantly booting back to the safemode/last known, normal, etc option screen.
I canged the graphics to the integrated graphics, just to try... no change in result.
What is needed to allowing it to boot fully and normally?
Thank you very much for any help

...means that Windows can't grok the boot device.  Things to try:
    1.  When the PC is booting, press F8 to get a boot menu for Windows.  Do you have a "last known good config" option?  Try it.
    2.  Do you have a Windows retail disk, or a friend who has one?  Boot on it and do a repair.
    3.  Open the BIOS.  Can you find a setting for hard drive controller mode, IDE or AHCI?  What does it say?  Try switching to the other mode.
<<Any benefit of trying to reformat the HDD and reinstal an OS from scratch?>>
Yes, of course.  It will fix the problem, as long as you're sure that the hardware is sound.  But that's not guaranteed.  Hot plugging a drive to a booting computer is not good practice--you have the potential for ground faults, corruption of the MBR, or whatever.

  • T420 not detecting second HDD?

I just got my new T420 and everything looks to be ok so far. However, I wanted to add a second HDD in place of the optical drive and it is not being detected by the system. I am using the same adapter and HDD that I had before in my T400, and it still works fine there.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this problem?

    @Protomic.
Not sure if this will help but see the specs here.

    @ahsan,
Good point from tripplec, try to search for Windows Partition tools on Google. There are a few good ones. Or you can use a desktop, plug in the HDD then use Windows retail CD to create partition.

I have a Y2P (i5) ... Feel free to ping me if you want me to test some applications with your Y2P if you have the same model. I don't mind keep doing recovery on it if needed .... =)

  • Windows 8.1 Update Core and Pro edition Retail

    Hi
In the Windows 8.1 Pro Update DVD
Retail , there is also the Core
edition? If so, how do I
    choose it?
    Thanks
    Bye
    Balubeto

    Hi,
No, If you buy the Windows 8.1 pro, it just for Windows 8.1 pro edition. Windows 8.1 core is Windows 8.1 edition actually.
You could compare them as the following article:
