Windows 7: ssvagent.exe prompt constantly with IE...

Hi, all! Just installed latest JRE (1.7.0_02-b13) and I'm getting constant prompts to run ssvagent.exe, whether admin or restricted use users. Any way to fix/prevent this? And no, logging in every user possible and shutting off the plug-in in IE is not an option.
Other threads going back quite a while report this as a bug: any resolution? This hasn't happened before in recent history, and has only started for me on the latest build installation.
Thanks.
SteveB

This bug should be addressed via the fix for 7092290 in the upcoming 7u4 release.
As a workaround, you can set the following registry keys on the machine.
Just save the following in a .reg file and then run it on the machine.
Note: the path in the InprocServer32 reg key is pointing to the default install location of 7u2 (or 7 and its update releases in general). If 7u2 is installed in a different location, you'll need to adjust the path accordingly. There should be 2 backslashes (\) after "C:" and after "bin" - somehow it doesn't show in the form correctly.

    Hello All
We have a server 2008 R2 HyperV server and during the last few months it started to reboot randomly.
Initially we thought its related to the issue fixed by the following hotfix so we applied it but even with the hotfix it still keeps rebooting.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2732595
Unlike what's mentioned in the hotfix , the faulting module is not "ntdll.dll" but "msvcrt.dll".Also came up with the following indication the reboots could be related to KB2871997 but that update is not installed
    on this system.

    Hi Sir,
    Please try the following items:
    1. if ther is anti-virus installed , please uninstall it temporarily
    2. run  " sfc /scannow "
    3. keep windows up-to-date
    4. if you updated some hardware driver please roll it back
    5. if the issue persists , please use windows installation media to perform inplace-upgrade for the system
Also please refer to reinstall C++ runtime within the similar thread:

  • Windows search serachprotocolhost.exe opening files with virus/trojans

I had received a file with was suspected malicious, but was tested online and was passed by 41 different virus engines as
"No Threats found",  The file was a word document XP447949.doc which contained macro's that were suspected as Malicious.  The file was NOT opened with word as it warned about suspect macro's.
However much to my surprise our Antivirus software Blocked An attempt to execute code out of the blue the following day, The file was the XP447949.doc and the offending program was windows search!
This Means that any potential Virus/Trojan/Malware that has been downloaded but not run could be installed when the indexing service does its rounds!  Surely this cant be right...
Hopefully someone at Microsoft can look into how this can be made more Secure.

The Trojan found was reported by the antivirus as 'LooksLike.Macro.Downloader.a (v)'
The Antivirus did not find problems when it scanned the file.  (Neither did 40 other products)
The active protection part found the file when windows search attempted to access the file, this concerns me somewhat that the search indexer is activating hidden malware.
If there was no active protection what would have happened?

  • Windows 32 cmd exe. on startup

On start up, I get a window that says C: Windows 32 Command exe. that flashes just for a second. I've checked other forums, and they said to go to my start up menu in the Task Manager and uncheck it if it's there. I found it in the Google Chrome folder and unchecked Google Chrome. Didn't do anything.
Every forum I've seen so far just talks about Windows XP or Windows 7. I'm on 8.1.
I've run a virus scan with Avast and didn't find anything, I've also run System Mechanic. Also nothing. All my updates are up to date as far as I can tell.
It's not terribly annoying, but it just started up out of the blue and if I can get rid of it, I'd like to.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello @Boo_Radley,
I have read your post on how a Windows 32 cmd.exe prompt appears when you first boot up your desktop computer, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
Does this window appear if you boot your computer into Safe Mode? Is this a recent or a reoccurring issue? What does the full error message state as it appears on the screen?
In the meantime, I recommend following any missed steps in this document on Resolving and Preventing Viruses on Your Computer (Windows 8). This should help catch and prevent any additional malware threats contributing to the error message when Windows is loaded.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the requested information above. I look forward to your reply!

I was recently prompted to update my Itunes player to the latest version. I'm using Windows Vista. I was left with an error message MSVCR80.dll and consequently no new update. I uninstalled the old version and have tried to reinstall manually several times. No luck. Consequently I have no player.
    Any ideas for a fix?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:

  • Java Web Start didn't install with j2sdk-1_4_2_04-windows-i586-p.exe

I just uninstalled all my java stuff from my XP Pro system
    then re-installed... j2sdk-1_4_2_04-windows-i586-p.exe
With the SDK installation... j2re1.4.2_04 also installed... I think this is the Java Runtime
But, before I had a folder for Java Web Start... not I don't...
    AND, the file... javaws-1_2-windows-i586-i.exe
refered to on the Java Web Start Installation page isn't on my system anymore...
(It was in an older vrsion of the Java Runtime... ( I had 2 java Runtimes at once installed, that is why I uninstalled... and even though I had Java Web Start, it wasn't working... so I deleted everything and reinstalled the j2sdk-1_2_04-windiws-i586-p.exe.)
I would just download the java Web Start but the docs tell me it should be installed when the SDK and Runtime are installed... so I worry if I got the installation correct.
Can anyone please advise me of how to get things working again.
thanks for any help - Will

I fixed this broblem just install both JDK and JRE.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!

  • Invoke remote diskpart with pipe results in 'C:\windows\system32\diskpart.exe}' is not recognized as an internal or external command

    Hi,
I am trying to invoke commands from powershell(resp. the code below is run from CMD, because it should be part of CMD script in future), especially the diskpart and do some operations.
I am trying to use this:
    "C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe" Invoke-Command -ComputerName "machinename" -ScriptBlock {"select disk 2", "online disk" | diskpart}
    but keep getting this:
'diskpart.exe}' is not recognized as an internal or external command...
I also tried with full path to diskpart but I get this:
'C:\windows\system32\diskpart.exe}' is not recognized as an internal or external command...
can you help me with that? I would use powershell directly but the system is Server 2008 R2 where storage modules are not present..
execution policy is set to unrestricted
I should also note, that SYSTEM32 where diskpart resides IS part of variables on both systems
    Thank you.

    Hi,
thanks for answer. It works as you say but I am calling powershell from within CMD (cmd script), its the reason, why this:
    "C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe"
is being included. And that is not working.

  • HelpPane.exe automatically starts with Windows 7 64bit.

HelpPane.exe automatically starts with Windows 7 64bit.  I have to start task Manager and disable it or else it keeps popping up.  I cant find where to disable this service from startup.  Please Help.

    Hello
I found a simple yet effective solution for this problem, my friend had the same issue so instinctively as a technician, I suspect this was a malware of somekind so I re-formatted and installed Win7 funny it's still there, so I did a Hard disk wipe using
Dalvik's and re-partitioned and formatted again, to my surprise it still have the same problem.
So I ask Mr. Goo' old Mr. Google for answer, but I've found more complications, sorry for the story, so without further a do, the solution.
Boot to safe mode. (may also work in "normal mode")
    Go to Task Manager>
    Click the Services Tab>
Right click "HelpPane.exe" or Help and support service>
    Select Properties>
    Click the Security tab>
Click the Advanced tab (for permissions options)
Then select the "permissions entries" one at a time>
    Click Change Permissions>
    Then click Edit>
CLEAR ALL THE CHECK BOX FOR ALL ENTRIES
This should prevent access to the HelpPane.exe to all users/programs.
This resolved my friends Windows 7 "Help and Support thingy" issue, hope it does yours too.
Message me for questions and/or clarifications/corrections.

  • "Error 1721" when trying to install jdk-6u3-windows-i586-p.exe ??

When I try to install the just downloaded jdk-6u3-windows-i586-p.exe
= Java SE 6 upd 3 Development Kit on my WinXP computer at first everything seems fine.
I can choose the installation options (all except the Java DB).
and selected the installation folder and start the process.
The progress bar reaches approx. 80%.
Then suddenly it stops and a popup appears:
"Error 1721. There is a problem with this Windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run".
    What's wrong ?
BTW: Upd 2 could be installed without problems.

Hi, Try reregistering the Windows Installer service.. For that restart you system in safe mode then
Open command prompt and excecute the below commands
    1 msiexec /unregister
    2 msiexec /regserver
Restart the system normally and check if it works.
If it doesn't work try using some registry cleaner like CCCleaner to clean your registry.
    Hopw this will work ..

  • Creative X-FI Elite Pro + Windows Vista = Audiodg.exe 60%+ CPU Please He

    Hi,
I got a problem with the Audiodg.exe process, problem is that sometimes it uses from 5% cpu and jumps to 50% and more and when playing this makes everything choppy and even cause mouse lagg..
As fast as i tab down the game the process drops to 5-0 and if I tab in again it jumps and holds on for several sekunds/minutes and then everything works fine and some minutes later it starts again.
This Hapends when playing all sort of games but mostly hapends in Counter Strike Source, and Windows Media Player, when watching films or listening to music but when doing that it gets worse and making the sound to lagg or slowdown etc.
Any idea got all the latest drivers exept for bios becouse Asus bios are unstable, and i cannot switch audio drivers becouse i got 4gb of ram and only the latest creative drivers work with 4gb...
    Hope you understand everything
    Spec:
OS: Windows Vista x64 Build Version 6.0.600 (SP ENG)
    Motherboard: Asus Crosshair nForce 590sli
CPU: AMD 5200+ FX-62 Dual Core Black Edition
RAM: 4xgb Corsair Dominator 066mhz (running only 932)
    Sound: Creative Elite Pro
    GFX: nVidia Gainward 8800GTX
    PSU: CoolerMaster Real Power 000watt
    HDD: 2x Western Digital Raptors X (2x50gb)
IDE: x DVD Liteon x8 burner and x CDRW Lite On Burner x52
USB 2x USB Devices Mouse and Keyboard
    Lan Ethernet cable
    Lan2 Disabled
    Nothing gets overheated etc...
    Everything got latest drivers etc...
Hope thats all, Best Regards C0MM4NDER

I didnt have this issue before to, it just starded after my reformat when i noticed that my cpus where on 100% in a game and then noticed that it was a process called Audiodg.exe that eats everything.
Im running software from my Creative Vista CD + updates from Creative Site, (and the 10006. driver from this site.) and no no codec packs installed yet. nothing this is a clean install only standard programs running installed only nod32 creative software and defrag software. and i used this before when i didnt have this problem only new is the drivers that i NEED becouse i use now 4gbs of ram and, this is the only hardware change from format, i had 2gb then now i got 4gb and i downloaded the latest driver, maybe its is the problem, but i need this driver.
Im 100% its the drivers because i've seen many other issues like this with other Audio companies that fixed it with a driver update, exept Creative "wow thats some news" i've allready talked at Technet on Vista 64 forums and person told me that it a driver issue.
Another proof is that if i run windows doing nothing Audiodg.exe uses constantly 0-4% of my CPU, if i start a mp3 its jumps to 6-8% if i turn of Cmss3d in Creative Console it drops instantly to 0% and stays there all the time, so its something with the drivers. running open al software only limits the audiodg to some point, but when running (Teamspeak) with Direct Sound, and (Counter StrikeSource) with Open Al /Alchemy) the Audiodg flips and starting to use 50% sometimes, and it hapends sometimes when i dont use teamspeak, so its Driver problem.
I phoned Creative and they told me on the support that they have no idea and telling the same story = Reainstall drivers etc..

  • Windows 7 - explorer.exe NotifyChangeDirectory

    Windows 7 - explorer.exe NotifyChangeDirectory
<Original title : explorer.exe NotifyChangeDirectory operation now taking long time>
I am running windows 7 home premium.
I have an application that programatically downloads files from a website and has been running sucessfully with no
performance issues until recently when each individual file download time blew out to approximatle 10 seconds each.
The same application running on another PC runs OK with each file taking about 1 second to download.
I ran procmon and have narrowed this down to explorer.exe performing a NotifyChangeDirectory operation with
    result=SUCCESS and detail = Filter: FILE_NOTIFY_CHANGE_FILE_NAME, FILE_NOTIFY_CHANGE_ATTRIBUTES,
FILE_NOTIFY_CHANGE_LAST_WRITE and showing a duration of arround 10 seconds each time it operates on the path where the path value is for the parent directory of the subdirectory where the downloaded files have been written by the application.
I think the cause of this change in behavior may be related to having unsucesfully tried to download IE 11 which
did not install to completion.  Could this download have modified the behaviour of explorer.exe?
If so, how can I roll back to the previous configuration of explorer.exe?
I have subsequently attempted to use windows update to install the pre-reqs listed on the MS support site for IE11 but the windows update service is broken, showing it is started in services, but reporting that it is not when I attempt to select update.
I have tried several suggestions involving netstart frm cmd window that I have found by google search, but non of these resolve the problem.

Yolanda,  I have also followed the manual steps.  the steps work Ok until

I can copy and paste everything I posted there if you are unable to access it.  Please let me know if you would like me to do that.
My next idea was  to find a friend who has the same version of windows 7 that I have and copy all of the DLLs listed in the fix above from their windows\system32 folder and try the manual steps again.  Do you think that is worth trying?

  • To install Remote Desktop Services User CAL on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition with SP1

    Dear Sir,
Presently we have installed Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition with SP 1. And now i would like to install Remote Desktop Services User CAL on this server. I have 25 digit product key of Windows Server
2008 R2 Remote Desktop Services User CAL (20). Downloaded this product key from our MSDN Subscriptions.
Kindly suggest me how to install (CAL server with product key that i have) and configure remote desktop services on my above existing server also how to point other server with my CAL server.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    1. Install Remote Desktop Session Host and Remote Desktop Licensing Role Services using Server Manager.
    2. Open RD Licensing Manager (licmgr.exe), Activate your server, then install your license
    3. In RD Session Host Configuration (tsconfig.msc), set the Licensing mode to Per User and Specify your RD Licensing server name (itself).  If you want you may configure these two settings via group policy setting instead.  The path of the
group policy settings is Computer Configuration\ Administrative Templates\ Windows Components\ Remote Desktop Services\ Remote Desktop Session Host\ Licensing
    4. You may point other RDSH servers to your RD Licensing server using RD Session Host Configuration or via group policy as mentioned above.
    5. Optionally you may consider installing other Remote Desktop Role Services such as RD Gateway, RD Web Access, RD Connection Broker, etc.
