Windows 8.1 and SQL Server 2012
Let me set the environment..
I recently upgraded from Windows 8 Pro to Windows 8.1. Pro. Before the upgrade I was able to run a application that we use that has a SQL 2012 database connection.
After the upgrade we are now getting this error "[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied."
I have been checking some of the related errors but everything I've tried so far has not resolved the issue. Has anyone else had a similar issue? I think the upgrade may have broke something in the TCP stack.
Keep in mind that WIndows 8, Windows 7 and previous versions are fine and not having an issue.

It is compatible Obi 11g with Windows Server 2012 and Sql Server 2012?
Hi every
Please help with two questions.
1. - Obi 11g is supported on Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012?
There a compatibility matrix which mention compatibility with versions 2012?
2. - is feasible to install Obi 11g in separate server and install weblogic on another server?
I appreciate the prompt response
Regards
PedroHi Pedro,
As of November 2012 Compatibility Matrix released by Oracle for OBI 11.1.1.x Windows 2012 and SQL Server 2012 were not supported. It was supported on 2008 Windows and SQL Server.
We can have weblogic and OBI server's on 2 different machines. The approach is to opt software only install. the link below will give more details:

Let me know if this helped.

SCCM 2012 SP1 with remote WSUS on Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012
I am rebuilding my SCCM 2012 lab on Server 2012 R2 x64 OS now.
I have 1 primary site, remote SQL server 2012, and remote WSUS server.
Is the WSUS console still required on my primary site running server 2012? If so are the below the correct steps to get this working?
Install Console on primary server:
Go to Server Manager à Add Roles and features, Navigate to the features section.
Remote Server Manager tools
>Role Administration Tools
--Select Windows Server Update Services Tools Only
Are there any post hotfixes to install?
Intalling WSUS full version on remote server:
Go to Server Manager à Add Roles and features, Server Roles section.
Windows Server Update Services
Do I need to select this as well on the remote wsus server? >Role Administration Tools -Select Windows Server Update Services Tools Only
Since my SQL server is on a remote server do I select the below only?
Are there any post hotfixes to install?Hi,
One Part of the question is already answered. The second part is: If you want to use a remote SQL Server you need to select exactly what you selected in your screenshot.

VB 2012 Express and SQL server 2012 Express
My Windows 7 computer just crashed and I am trying to resurrect my VB 2012 Express code. I have been using Access 2007 but lost my license info and installation media, so I am considering a change to SQL server 2012. I have downloaded it, but
I haven't a cue as to how to use it. I need to convert my old Access 2007 data and then connect the result to my VB 2012 code.
Please help.
RONATMOODYLAKEI know how to use a database engine, but what I downloaded as SQL server 2012 Express seems to be something else. I am in <st1:place w:st="on">Africa</st1:place> and things don't work well here. I
have an app that says SQL error and usage reporting, and when I answer the questions nothing happens. This must not be the SQL 2012 Server Express (or is it?). Maybe you can point me to a useful download link. What I have is totally obscure.
Here is my goal: I have a completed VB 2012 project that uses Access 2007. My Windows 7 computer crashed and I am desperately trying to move the application to a Windows 8 machine. I do not
have my installation disks for Access, so I thought I would give SQL server a try. I obviously downloaded the wrong thing. The Microsoft web site gives me the following download choices - none of these make sense and they are not explained - please
help - I downloaded the first one and it seems useless:

Hi. I need to get the update of my MS SQL Server 2012 installation in order to get the SP1.
When I run the Windows Update it appears to download well the package.
Then when it begins to install I get the error "84C4000E: Se ha producido un error con Windows Update" (our server is in Spanish).
I have the last updates for Windows Server, a rebooted our server and the issue remains.
Any idea of what should I do to get the SP1 update?
Thanks in advance.

PerformancePoint in Sharepoint 2010 and SQL Server 2012 data source
Hi,
I have a problem on creating PerformancePoint reports in Sharepoint 2010 based on SQL Server 2012 source data.
I try to create a data source in PerformancePoint dashboard designer, I choose Analysis Services, and I get a following error:
"The data source cannot be used because PerformancePoint Services is not
configured correctly...."
I think it is due to a version of a ADOMD.NET component that needs to be installed, but I am not sure which version is necessary? Could you help
me with that?
Of course, if there are any other prerequisites, please, tell me.

I can't seem to find any clear answers to the implications of installing SQL Server 2012 standard edition vs. enterprise in regards to SharePoint 2013.
I understand that to get many of the features you need Enterprise edition of SQL 2012; but, what I can't figure out is if the backend SharePoint SQL 2012 is standard; but, the PowerPivot/SSRS server is Enterprise will we still get the features?
If we have 3 tier SharePoint farm, one of those tiers is for the SQL Server database backend. If that SQL instance is 2012 standard and we add another server to the farm w/ SQL 2012 Enterprise to handle the tabular models, PowerPivot, and SSRS in integrated
mode will we still get the features?
Or, can we (should we) install Enterprise 2012 as the SharePoint database backend and let that instance triple down as also the PowerPivot and SSRS instance?
The Degenerate DimensionHi MMilligan,
SQL Server 2012 Standard is not supported PowePivot for SharePoint . In addition, SQL Server 2012 Standard is also not support some Reporting Services Features.
For more information, please refer to Features Supported by the Editions of SQL Server 2012:

Install SQL Server BI Features with SharePoint 2013 (SQL Server 2012 SP1):

SharePoint 2013 and SQL Server 2012
Hi all,
I've looked around and not found a concrete answer to this question; or maybe I have and just haven't realised! Anyway.
We've currently got a license for SharePoint 2013 Enterprise, and are working on introducing Business Intelligence capabilities, namely Power Pivot and Power View. We'd like the data to be refreshed regularly, meaning we need Power Pivot on the SQL Server.
As Power Pivot and Power View are listed as features for SharePoint 2013 Enterprise, is it enough to have the Enterprise licence for SP2013, and use a SQL Server 2012 Standard License, installing the Power Pivot configuration tool along with the required
SSRS for Power View? Or do we need a SQL Server 2012 BI / Enterprise License to make use of Power View and Data Refresh on SP 2013?
I've also seen talks of installing SQL Server 2012 SP1 -- I'm new to all of this, but would having SQL Server 2012 Standard License alongside installing SP1 be sufficient for the above features?
Many thanks for any help.PowerPivot/PowerView do require the BI or Enterprise editions of SQL 2012 (and yes, SQL 2012 SP1 is required for SharePoint 2013). These instances must be installed on the SharePoint server, not the SQL Database Engine server. You can use SQL
Standard for the Database Engine server.

SharePoint 2010 and SQL Server 2012 issue
Hi,
I have SharePoint 2010 integrated with SQL Server 2008 R2 in my machine. I wanted to use Power View feature, so I went for SQL Server 2012 installation. Now when I try to create the SQL Server Reporting service service application, it says, this feature
is not supported by current version of database.
Please let me know how to fix the issue. Do I need to reinstall SharePoint 2010 once again using SQL Server 2012 ?
thanks
Tariquehttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/9eacbd00-f264-4f55-bd27-55cf0761cbd7/power-view-is-not-supported-in-this-edition-of-reporting-services?forum=sharepointadmin
The only requirements for SSRS Integrated mode/PowerView are that you're using SharePoint Enterprise and SQL Enterprise/BI and that SharePoint be installed and joined to the farm on the server where you're also installing SSRS.
You need to reconfigure your sharepoint farm farm to use SQL server 2012

Konesans File Watcher Task and SQL Server 2012
Hello!
I am trying to use the Konesans File Watcher Task which worked perfectly for SQL 2008, to upgrade to SQL 2012. I am getting the following error
Cannot create a task from XML for task "File Watcher Task", type Konesans.Dts.Tasks FileWatcherTask.FileWatcherTask, Koneaasans .......
Anyone have any ideas on how to upgrade the Konesans File Watcher Task for SQL 2012?
Thanks,
Mike
Mike KiserHi,
Konesans File Watcher Task is a 3rd party tool.
I had the same issue while upgrading SSIS 2005 packages which relied on this component to SSIS 2008.
Solution : you'll have to install Konesans File Watcher Task 2012 on your development PC (and on the SQL Server 2012 which will run this SSIS job).
