Windows 8.1 and Wireless showing 'limited'

Hi there,
I have a bought 2 HP Pavillion 500-152ea Desktop computers and need to connect with wireless to a router.
The computers were bought for our business and it has been a dissappointing start.
I have installed windows 8.1 and it has now caused major problems with the wireless connection.
The wireless connection is now being shown as 'limited' and no internet access is allowed.
Can you help me find a solution to this please?

I understand you are having wireless issues after upgrading to Windows 8.1. I would recommend that you restore your computer back to Windows 8 and ensure that ALL Windows Updates and HP Updates have been installed before you install Windows 8.1. I have seen this issue many times and it results in a wireless issue.
As well when you do the Windows 8.1 upgrade go into your Device Manager and disable the wireless card. After the update has been install go back and re-enable it.
You will find the latest drivers for your computer running Windows 8.1 on the HP Pavilion 500-152ea Desktop PC Drivers page as well.

Windows 10 upgrade and roll back limits?

Is there a limit on the number of times you can do the Windows 10 upgrade and roll back to 8.1? I would like to do the upgrade on my Thinkpad Yoga 14 but am concerned about the issues noted on here. I don't want to make too many attempts and lock myself out of the upgrade. I think I did see on here where someone tried 6 times. Thanks,Sue

So I'm in the same boat. My HP desktop that came insatlled with WIn 8.1 64-bit and it "upgraded" to WIn10 badly. WIn10 wont activate becasue it says my license code is blocked on the server, none of my installed apps or data came over and the receovey option will now only recover to WIn10, I have no option to go back to Win 8.1, thouhgh a windows.old dir is there on the C: drive. I have my Win 8.1 license code from before the "upgrade" attepmt, but there is no way with what WIn 10 left me with to revert back to Win 8.1. I went to the HP suppprt & downloads page to see if thre was WIn8.1 recovery media available as discussed here : http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07143#AbT2 , but nothing shows up for my HP Pavilion 500-210qe CTO. Looks like both MS and HP got me good.

Windows 7, C6280 and Wireless Printing

I have a C6280 model printer which I previously used with a laptop running Windows Vista. I recently purchased a new laptop that runs Windows 7 and I cannot get my printer software installed on my new laptop. When I try to install it, it displays an error message says that the software is not compatible. I am aware that I am able to download a newer version of the software from the website which should work but this is to print through a wired network. I need to be able to print wirelessly as I did with my old laptop.
Does anyone know if the software that I download from the website will allow me to print wirelessly?? If there is software available on the website that will allow me to print wirelessly, can someone please direct me to it or tell me what keywords you typed in to find it??

Bright Bar at Top of Window Goes Dim and Window Goes Inactive Spontaneously

The other day, I was trying to create space on my computer's hard drive and started going through files trying to delete cache files and other junk. I also uninstalled most of old Word Perfect 12 because I have upgraded to WordPerfect X4. After I did these things (which ultimately did not create that much space), while I was in a given program, working, the bar at the top of the window, that is a bright color (the Windows default is that bright blue) when you are active in the window would go pale and the window would be inactive until I clicked the mouse to get it active again. I will call this the "gone inactive" problem. The other symptom was that my document icons no longer appeared as little WP icons but as the nonspecific file icons. So, I reinstalled WP 12 and that took care of the icon issue, but not the gone inactive problem. (It just did it again in my browser program.) A friend with technological acumen suggested that this was NOT a hardware problem and thought it might have been a problem in the order in which I had installed the WP products. He said to uninstall both, then to reinstall the older one and then the newer one. I did this, but it still is doing the same thing. It does this in programs other than WP, too, as I just indicated above. Is this a windows problem? Is there a particular file that I need? Did something get corrupt? Please agree with my friend that it is not a hardware issue!
I am not sure that ALL files were removed by the uninstallations. However, oddly, a WP 2000 feature that I still had installed (Desktop Application Director), disappeared and WP 2000 disappeared from the "All Programs" list.
I wonder if I should start the process of uninstall reinstall over again and put in WP 2000 first? It does not show up as one of the programs in the add remove programs utility -- in other words, there's no way to remove it. I wonder if I should delete all WP files? When I opened X4 it had all my settings as before the uninstall, which surprised me.
Oddly, there was no requirement that I use the discs to uninstall and neither have an "Uninstall" when you go through the all programs list route.
I did delete a bunch of those blue $NtUninstallKB2286198$ type files. I thought those were just junk after updates are installed. I hope that isn't the problem. I did a windows software update and they showed no priority items to do.
I put this information on the Microsoft Community site in hopes that it is a software issue and that someone there will know what to do. I realize this is a Lenovo ThinkPad site more related to hardware matters. But if anyone out there has any help to offer it would be greatly appreciated.

Itunes and wireless devices no longer show up in upper right corner of itunes window

Help! My Internet service was interupted last week and when it returned my iTunes and wireless devices no longer show up in upper right corner of the iTunes window. I finally figured out how to get both of my wireless devices to show up on the left hand column under devices, but nothing else shows up now in the upper right corner! I cannot for the life of me figure this one out and the tech manual is not helping at all. Help!

If you have the left-hand sidebar showing then that is where the store and your devices will show can be selected - if you press option-command-S if you are using a Mac, control-S on a PC, then the sidebar should be hidden and the store and device should go back to the top right. Is that what you mean ?

Go step by step and test.
1. Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
    Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly. It will take a while.
    Restart the computer.
    Start up in Safe Mode.

2. Empty Caches
    Safari > Preference > Advanced
    Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
    Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
    Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
3. Deselect Proxies if selected.
    System Preference > Network > Advanced > Proxies Tab
    Under "Select Protocol", uncheck any box if selected.
    Click "OK" then "Apply”.

I have iTunes 11 on a Windows 8.1 PC. It is streaming to a 3rd Gen Apple TV. Movies and TV Shows seem to play fine. Music will stream for about 10 - 16 songs, then just stop. I have to reset everything, then it will repeat the cycle. Wire or wireless.

I would suspect that there is something wrong with the network, or Apple TV, except that movies and TV Shows seem to be fine. My music library is about 3700 songs, all legit, either imported from source or puchased through iTunes. This one has me stumped and frustrated!

I thought that may have been the case too. I set the power settings to compensate but still the same. I also done things like reset the router and Apple TV to factory. Starting to think it may actually be the Apple TV, but it just doesn't make sense ?!?

HP PhotoSmart 6520, Printer offline, Wireless printing from Windows 8.1 and others

My parents own an HP PhotoSmart 6520. They have 3 or 4 computers. 1 Is connected to this printer via USB cable. 3 Are "connected" over wireless. The printer has the latest firmware updates according to checks from the printer front display.
Problem is this:
1) When first starting the printer, and the printer gets on the wifi network, all wifi-available devices can print to it over wifi. We are also able to browse to the printer config web pages to see status, and change configs as needed.
2) After about 5 minutes of printer inactivity, all wireless clients can't print to the printer to print, and can't connect to the printer's web page. (The printer appears to be offline to each OS that uses WiFi to get Internet access.
3) If we visit the printer control screen, physically attached to the pinter, find the network configuration, and choose to "turn off" wifi at the printer, then after off, "turn on" wifi and see an IP address get assigned, then all WiFi machines can print to the printer over WiFi. However, after 5 minutes, again, the printer is offline. No matter what or how much each WiFi-based machine sends to their printer queue/spool, the printer remains offline.
4) If the USB-connected machine prints to the printer over USB, the printer once again becomes available over the wireless network.
The work-around is terrible. (Cycle WiFi access every time they need to print from Wireless devices.)
Things we have tried:
1) This is running the latest firmware according to the WebService section request to check for upgrades. They are on the latest according to the results. (no help)
2) DHCP was the initial config for network settings. I moved to a DHCP server configuration with static IP served by printer MAC address. (No help)
3) I switched to totally static IP address, thinking it might be a DHCP lease-time/renewal issue, or custom vendor string issues or bug. (no help)
4) Enabled/Disabled IPv6 even though they are on a NAT-ed network with only IPv4 support. (no help)
5) Visited printer config with web broswer, and change energy saver setting from "5 minutes" to "15 minutes" because the ~5 minute window seemed like an approximate time limit. (No help)
6) Enable/Disable other settings through the web and restart the printer. (No help.)

In testing this, with static IP or not, from other machines, when we can print over WiFi to the printer, the IPv4 address is ping-able from peers on the network. After ~5 minutes pass, and the pinter goes "offline" there are no ping replies to the static or other IP address assigned to this printer. By all accounts, when the printer is "offline" it really is no longer on the WiFi network. Meanwhile, oter devices can ping each other. (All computers, smartphones, tablets, etc can all respond to ping.)
None of the other devices suffer from dropped access to the WiFi and Internet.
Suggestions?
I do not have access to this right now, but I can walk my parents through whatever steps are needed to resolve this.

1) When online, generating report, reports online
2) When offline, report reports that it is still associated with access point
3) Printer is about 2 feet away from the access point it is communicating with and has max-bars showing signal strength.
4) Channel allocation for WiFi was selected based on least used channel, and works very well for all other devices on this channel.
5) There is only one accesspoint with the name it associates with.
6) The only options for power-saving "auto-off" we see via web pages from printer are: 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 15 minutes, and changing to 15 minutes does not allow the printer to remain online for 14 minutes -- it still goes offline to the network after ~5 minutes -- even agfter changing this settings and power cycling the printer.
7) No wireless extender is being used.
8) We tried static IP, Dynamic IP, and statically assigned DHCP served IP.
Once printer is "offline" when visiting printer to tell printer to disable WiFi access, then re-enable it, all machines with items in their printer queue/spool *immediately* de-queue/de-spool their printer jobs to the printer.

I see you are using a Hot Spot, I believe we have found the reason for the connectivity issues. There may be a setting that needs to manually configured for the Hotspot to 'allow' your printer access. Also, hotspots may have limitations and restrictions that may cause connectivity issues.
Take a look here: Setting up the Printer as a HotSpot, it shows a Laserjet but the same steps apply.
Keep in mind that Hotspot connections are 'best effort' connections due to the issues of inconsistencies within the connection. They are not routers. Therefore, you may experience issues in the future when using the Hotspot for your connection. Usually a powercycle or hard reset of the HotSpot will resolve such issues.
I would not recommend getting another Hot Spot as the connection is not guaranteed, you could however try a Wireless Router if you are looking to upgrade anyways.

My wifi connection shows limited access after updating my window 8.1

Hy wishes for all of you. Having trouble after update my window 8 to 8.1. Perhaps the wrost day of my life. After update lost my Internet connection. It's shows limited connection and unindentify network. I search different post on Web regarding this problem and applied but all in vain. I would like to restore my old window but I don't have backup so now have true in trouble kindly help me out

When I use Firefox the images and logos don't show up clearly/correctly. I'm using Windows 2000 Pro. and just installed Firefox 3.6.6. I'm sure I have the right graphics driver as I'm able to see the images and logos clearly in Internet Explorer. I only have the "default plugin 1.0.0.15" installed. I'm thinking that I'm missing a plugin or add-on of some sort, but I'm not sure which one(s). When I go to "updates" it says there were no updates available. When I go to "Add-ons" it gives a list of Add-ons but I'm not sure which would help my issue. Any help would be appreciated.:)

Firefox works fine on Windows 2000 SP4 for me.

Next, plug the Apple TV into your computer with a micro-usb cable (most phones today use these) and start up Itunes. It should detect the Apple TV in recovery.
After that, hold down Option on Apple or Alt on Windows and click Restore. This should open a window that allows you to select the software update you want to apply. Select the one you downloaded earlier.
It will then go through the restore process, which takes only a few minutes, and then you will be able to plug the Apple TV back in to your display and set it up again.
I recently ran into a similar issue with a bunch of these things and after restoring them all to the previous software version they are working again.

I was changing to a new laptop as my old laptop had been patched and worked and was showing signs of giving out. It was a Window's 7OS. My new one is a Windows 8 OS so I bought the 13 and downloaded it on the new laptop. Our desktop had died so I downloaded the 13 on the new desk computer also. Not thinking I downloaded 13 on my old laptop as I hope to get it patched up enough to be a backup for my photography. When I tried to activate it I realized that I had downloaded it too often. I didn't know you could only use it on two computers. Learn something new every day.. Any way I removed it and now my PSE 12 does not seem to be working. Now it could be something that I did or something that is an issue with the laptop. this laptop has all the previous editions on board as I always tried to update, except for the year I got a really good deal on Black Friday. I also notice that the new laptop has a copy of PSE 12 in the program list. To my knowledge I have never deactivated any of my PSE's except the extra 13 downloaded. Bottom line, do I need to go in and deactivate previous PSE versions and removed them from my computer? I could certainly use the space and secondly, can I deactivate the PSE 12 and then go back and reacitivate it and install it again on the old laptop or the desktop, whichever I deside would be the most appropriate place for the newer program. For the PSE 12 since it is an updater for 11, does the 11 still need to be on the laptop? thanks for anyone who can understand what I am trying to say and can advise me as to my next move.
