Windows 8 compatibility upgrade?

Is there a free update available to make Acrobat Pro 8.3.1 compatible with Windows 8 or do I need to buy an upgrade to XI?

I use AA8 on VISTA with no problems. The 8.3.1 update is the latest update for AA8. I would suggest trying a repair of AA8 (can do this from the help menu). If all else fails, you might consider reinstalling AA8. If you do follow the following steps:
1. Deactivate AA8
2. Uninstall
3. Remove any left over parts of the Acrobat 8 folder
4. Run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
5. Reboot and reinstall
6. Activate and then apply updates (from help menu). Generally speaking, you only have to reboot after the last update (8.3.1)
Hopefully the repair does the job and no reinstall is needed.

  • Yoga 11s Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 Upgrade - Power Management Compatibility Issue

I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1 on my Yoga 8.1 device. I followed the application removal instructions before upgrading, then reinstalled the correct drivers for 8.1. Everything works well except for the fact that I get a Windows warning that there is a Power Management Compatibility Issue with the Lenovo ACPI-Compliant Virtual Power Controller. Any idea how to fix this? All hardware in the Device Manager are working properly.
Thanks in advance for your help. I have BIOS 7xxx.

I have this exact same issue, but with the 8.x BIOS.
My 11S also has issues going to sleep automatically when plugged in or on battery power, as well as staying asleep more than one second when on battery power, regardless of whether I initiate sleep manually via the menu or by closing the lid/pressing power button. I figured they could be related to this, but I'm pretty sure I had the same issues before the Windows 8.1 upgrade.

I've been running 64-bit Windows 8 Consumer Preview very nicely for several months and want to upgrade to 64-bit Windows Pro on my Pavilion a1440n. When I've tried to install from within the OS I get weird messages indicating that it can't be installed on a USB Flash drive (which I'm not trying to do). When I tried doing a clean install I got an odd message saying that certain installer files were missing and it would not complete. I called Microsoft customer support and the agent there thought my cpu would work because it wouldn't support Hyper-V, even though I understand that it optional. From running coreinfo.exe I can see that I have the PAE, NX, and SSE2 on the cpu enabled as meets requirements.
When I ran through th HP site I saw that this machine has not been tested. Is there any way of getting confirmation that Windows 8 Pro 64-bit will or won't run on my machine? The HP Product code for it is ER904AA#ABA.
    Thanks!

    Hi Manu,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
I’m sorry to hear that the LAN and Wireless is not working as expected after updating to Windows 8.1, normally to avoid compatibility issue all the drivers should be updated when the computer is in Windows 8. Hence, I suggest you to perform “System Restore” and the follow the update procedure. Below is the link to perform “System Restore” then a link with exact Windows 8.1 upgrade procedure.

  • Windows 8 Compatibility issue -

I just ran the MS Windows 8 compatibility test on my Windows 7 system... a number of programs were flagged, including iTunes.. however, the action to be taken seems vague:  a yellow caution symbol was displayed with the words, "remove authorized PCs"
What does that mean?  Do I need to deauthorize my PC before doing the upgrade?  Do I need to uninstall iTunes? (I am running v.11) And then reinstall it after upgrading to Windows 8?

Ok, no replies.. so here is what I found out....
It seems that you can have up to 5 computers authorized to use iTunes.  If one of the computers that is being upgraded to Windows 8 is one of those 5, you may need to deauthorize iTunes before the install.  Why? Because apparently the new install treats the system as a new system, so in order to keep your authorized systems under 5, it may be necessary to deauthorize before the install, then reauthorize again after the install.
Of course, if this is the only computer authorized, then no biggie.. you will end up with two authorized systems and everything should still hum along. The only concern is if you already have 5 computers authorized, then you need to use this process to ensure that iTunes will still work after the install.
Odd that iTunes would be so picky... Adobe is infamous about software activations - insisting on the product being deactivated before uninstalling and reinstalling... but no concern here about upgrading to Windows 8
Hope that helps some others that had a question about this item.
Oh, and btw.. make sure your notebook manufacturer has drivers for Windows 8 - Microsoft had stated that the upgrade from Windows 7 to 8 would be smooth and hiccup free.. but no mention of drivers. Seems there could be issues with drivers. I have a relatively new ASUS G53SW, and apparently ASUS does not have any drivers for Windows 8!

  • CS4 and Windows 8 compatibility

Has anyone successfully installed CS4 on Windows 8? I am currently using Windows XP and received a pop up saying Microsoft are no longer releasing updates for XP after August and I am entitled to a free download of Windows 8. I am trying to decide whether to do this but risk losing my use of CS4 which I really don't want to do. Any advice much appreciated as not sure whether to just continue with XP. Thanks in advance.

If you search Google using the terms "CS4 and Windows 8 compatibility" you can probably find various results from both Adobe and Microsoft that should give you some idea of how much of a gamble you might face in changing your OS.
In my own experience, a change in OS has yet to be a positive experience... while most people loved XP in its day, I suffered years of poor performance with it as an upgrade from the moment it was installed and regretted doing it.  Maybe you've had better experience and aren't as shy of it as I am.

  • Window 8.1 upgrade and Edge 1.5.0

I am still working with Edge version 1.5 (free software version) and have a serious amount of  Animate files which I preview using Chrome.  Recently, I upgraded my operating system to Windows 8.1 and now - it would seem - that none of the files will preview in the browser.  Loading of the files also seem sluggish.   I tried a couple of browsers to check - the usual suspects - but the Edge files v 1.5 will not load and preview.
You can imagine my pain.  Ouch ouch! doesn't even cover it.  I was just wondering if anybody out there is experienencing a similar problem and can help.  I can only think that Edge A version 1.5 files are in conflict with the Windows 8.1 upgrade in some way?  If anybody can throw some light on this mucho appreciated amigoes.

Thank you for your kind reply.  I have read the blog concerning compatibility issues with ei11 and can see that it may apply to my situation but I not totally convinced.  Can you please advise me on my concerns.  One solution on offer in the blog is to download Animate CC 2.0.1 and resave (none of my files have been published - I'm not there just yet).  I believe my cloud membership will allow me to trial Animate CC so I could resave all my files from a previous1.5.0 version.  So my question is this, if I resave my files in Animate CC 2.0.1 will they still open in the previous 1.5 version ? after the trail runs out?
I only ask because at this point I am unable to commit to the paid Animate CC software just yet.  If the resaved files will open then I will give it a go as this seems the simplest way to solve the preview in browser issue I am experiencing. Thanks much appriciated.

  • Acrobat 9 Standard and Windows 7 Compatibility

We are in the process of planning a migration of company computers to Windows 7 and Office 2010.  We have a large number of Acrobat users with various versions with many using v9, just upgraded last year.  Microsoft's "Windows 7 Compatibility Center" says Acrobat v9 Standard is "Compatible, No Action Required".  We are finding that this may not be the case, specifically with printing.  I have not been able to locate any information on the Adobe site stating compatibility of older versions, only that Acrobat X is compatibite.
Is anyone having success with Windows 7 and Acrobat 9 Standard?  Does anyone know where to find Adobes compatibility statement for older Acrobat version?
    Thanks!

Acrobat 9.0 is not Windows 7 compatible. However, I think it was compatible somewhere around 9.2.3. If you upgrade to Acrobat 9.4.3 you should have no issues. I ran with that setup for many months using Acrobat Pro.

  • Since migrating from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and upgrading to iTunes 11, the latter has frozen while syncing my devices, usually while at the "determining apps to sync" stage of the process.  If I am attempting to download app updates before attempting to

Since migrating from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and upgrading to iTunes 11, the latter has frozen while syncing my devices, usually while at the “determining apps to sync” stage of the process.  If I am attempting to download app updates before attempting to sync, the problem normally occurs at the first “installing app x” stage.  In addition, the whole iTunes experience is extremely sluggish and will even freeze while searching for a track.  Everything worked fine on Windows 7.  So far, I have repaired the program several times and have checked for compatibility issues, but there is no Windows 8 option in the combo box, obtained after right-clicking the icon and selecting Properties/Compatibility.  As a result, I am unable to sync my devices. If I uninstall iTunes before re-installing, will this affect my iTunes libraries?  Does anyone have any suggestions?

After going by elimination to isolate if the problem was from (1) iTunes app, (2) my computer or (3) my old iPhone 4G, I figured out what my problem was.
    1) First I deleted & reinstalled iTunes on my Windows PC without succes, my playlist did not changed on my iPhone.
    2) I tested a successful #sync from the iMac at work.
So my conclusion is: The hard drive on my Windows PC is full and that is affecting iTunes SYNC functionalities.
So I'll do a back-up then run a "Clean Install" of my Windows OS, hoping that it will fix my SYNC problems.

  • Windows 8.1 upgrade for B750

I just received a new Lenovo B750 and so far all is working great with windows 8.  I was wondering if it was safe to install windows 8.1 or if it would be better to wait.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
    Rick

    hi Rick,
As Windows 8.1 is still new, you may experience software / driver compatibility issues after upgrading your system from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. You may want to check this Windows 8.1 Upgrade Guide by Lenovo for hints, tips, and limitations found during testing of Windows® 8.1 on supported Ideapad systems
Also, the Windows 8.1 drivers are already up on the Lenovo website for the B750 so this model is pretty much upgrading. You can give Windows 8.1 a try as it offers a few improvements but ensure you backup all of your files. If it doesn't work out, you can always perform a factory restore via the OneKey Recovery or Windows 8 Reset to go back to Windows 8.

setup problem, windows xp, firefox upgrade to 4 and asked to reboot but did not progress. keeps asking to restart even if I try to remove

    Hi marsano,
Usually the only reason it will ask you to reboot is if there is a file that must be modified that the updater doesn't currently have access to. You should try running the Firefox program once as Administrator:
    * Right-click the icon and choose ''Run as Administrator''
If that doesn't help then do a clean reinstall.
    # Download a fresh copy of Firefox from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/fx/ Mozilla download page] and save the file to the desktop.
    # [[Uninstalling Firefox|Uninstall]] your current version of Firefox and remove the Firefox program folder before running the new installer.
    # Run installer
Remember that you don't want to remove personal data when uninstalling. That way you'll still have your personal information.
    Hopefully this helps!

    can anyone help,
I have trawled the web to no avail.
I can no longer project the laptop screen to my plasma,
I have tried the Win + P buttons and nothing happens, turned on amd off with the hdmi cable connected etc.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Palacio
So you upgraded the system to Win 8.1 as mentioned here:
    http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/windows8_1-message/
From my point of view some of the Win 8.1 drivers are either missing, not upgraded or not installed properly.
Check this driver installation order and update the drivers if essential:
    Intel Wireless Display - Uninstall
    2 Windows 8.1 update - Install
3 TOSHIBA Desktop Assist - Upgrade
4 Intel Display Driver - Upgrade
5 AMD Display Driver - Upgrade
6 Realtek Audio Driver - Upgrade

    8 Intel PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software - Upgrade
