Windows firewall keeps switching itself on!?

I have a funny problem that the Windows firewall seemingly refuses to accept that there is another firewall on my computer, and instead keeps switching itself on. I keep turning it off all the time, but it just won't take no for an answer.
Every time I start my computer the Windows firewall is on, as well as the Comodo Internet Security firewall that is the firewall I want to run. The Windows security center reports that both firewalls are on (so, in particular, it recognizes Comodo), so I turn off the Windows firewall. This I have to do after every reboot. Also, as soon as I switch from cable Internet connection to wireless connection, the Windows firewall silently turns itself on again. This is a problem since it screws up my wireless connection to have two firewalls running at the same time. Again, turning the Windows firewall off manually works just fine --- or so the system says --- but when there is a change of connection status from cable to wireless the firewall is turned on again.
I have spent quite some time now trying to solve this problem. I finally asked at the Comodo user forum, and got the advice to run services.msc, go to Windows Firewall, right click to get properties and then change the start type from automatic to manual. This works, but now I can no longer check the firewall status in the security center since the whole service has been shut down (I get a popup window with the message "Windows Firewall settings cannot be displayed because the associated service is not running. Do you want to start the Windows Firewall service?"). Therefore, it seems to me that this is a pretty big hammer to use just to stop the Windows firewall from respecting being turned off and staying turned off.
So is there a better way of solving this problem than hacking the settings in services.msc? In particular, could there be some settings for the wireless card that turns the Windows firewall on that I should change instead? I have been trying to search for such settings, but have not found anything. Any advice would be very much appreciated.
To the extent that it is relevant, I am running Comodo Internet Security 3.13 on 64-bit Vista Business SP 2 on a Lenovo X200.

I think you missed the point, the remote app sends a signal to AppleTV to turn it on. I am not sending any signals to AppleTV to turn it on. There is also no HDMI activity, it is purely network. So AppleTV is waking for whatever reason. It shouldn't wake until I tell it to.
Your TV doesn't decide to wake itself does it?
Your VCR/DVD/BR players don't turn themselves on?
Your PC Doesn't? ... unless you've scheduled it.
Your car doesn't randomly start itself?
You see where I'm going with this. There should be an option in ... 'options' to stop this from happening, and also an explanation of what it is doing in the first place. It should not, unless allowed to by the user, wake itself.

  • 6500 slide keeps switching itself off

Just got my shiny new 6500 slide which keeps switching itself off. The only way of switching it back on when this happens it to take the battery out, put it back in and then press the power button. It happens about once or twice a day and it seems to be when the phone is charging.
Anyone else experiencing this? Is there a way of resetting the phone to prevent this happening?
I'd really like to fix it without the hassle of going back to the shop and trying to demonstrate a very unpredictable fault.

I would definately take your phone back and get it replaced. I had problems with my 6500 slide, every time i turned it on & off i would have to resest the time & date. I purchased my phone from an internet retailer and they exchanged it for a new one, so far i have had no problems...

  • 7380 keeps switching itself off

My 7380 keeps switching itself off - sometimes when its not being touched, sometimes when the controls are touched. It then won't turn back on. Taking the sim card out and putting it back on sometimes works, and the phone will restart, but not all the time. Does anyone else have similar problems?

I've had repeated problems with my 7380 doing the same thing. I received my first 7380 on 26th April and it only switched on twice before refusing to switch on at all. Orange replaced this phone and I received my second 7380 on 28th April.
On 9th June my phone started switching itself off. The problem's getting increasingly worse and now it doesn't stay on for more than 3 or 4 hours at a time. So far I have been able to switch it back on again without too many problems. Orange have promised another replacement which will arrive tomorrow, but I'm extremely disappointed. If the next phone fails then I too will be demanding that Nokia replace it with a different model.

  • My i phone keeps switching itself off and on

my iphone keeps switching itself on and off

Yes, there is a hard reset, using the power and home button at the same time does temporarily remove power to the device to force a "hard boot" its in the support knowledge base, you can search if you do not agree
the terms hard and soft are just terms i use to make it more understandable to the reader, a 'reset' is what you do to a phone that simply cycles itself and is unresponsive to restarting http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430

  • My iphone 5 keeps switching itself on and off and screen different colours?

My iphone 5 keeps switching itself on and off randomly, the screen has also gone a green and red colour prior to it turning itself off and sometimes will not come back on unless re-set? help?!

If you already tried a restore to factory settings, it looks like a hardware issue to me.
I would take it to an Apple Store for replacement.

  • I got Iphone 3 gs and updated ios 5.01 when charging my phone it keeps switching itself on and off

I got Iphone 3 gs and updated ios 5.01 when charging my phone it keeps switching itself on and off.

Same problem.  Phone was unusable.  I managed to turn airplane mode on during one of the phone's "on" moments.  It went off once more but then came back on and stayed on long enough to back up and restore via iTunes.  As I don't rely on the phone to retain photos, contacts or mail etc I chose to do a complete restore and treat it as a new phone.  I did this just to make it as clean a restore as possible but you may be able to restore from your backup and get the same fix? All is good still some 24 hours later.  Hope this helps.

  • Why does my loud speaker keep switching itself on my iphone

why does my loud speaker keep switching itself on my iphone.Every time I'm on my phone the loud speaker keeps coming on autermaticly

Call AppleCare (number is in the manual) and then request to speak to Customer Service. Be patient, organized and articulate and they will transfer you. When you get to speakt to someone then explain your problem and ask for their help. You should have all your receipts, invoices, trouble ticket numbers etc available for reference.
You can also take to an Apple Store in Spain, while this may not be convenient at least then an Apple person can see the machine and work on it.

  • Why does my i phone 4 keep switching itself off

hi can anyone help why does my phone keep switching itself off

    Hi jodierigby,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article has steps you can take if your iPhone is unexpectedly powering off:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
    Cheers,
    - Ari

  • My 3gs keeps switching itself off and when i turn it on, the date is set to 1st January 1970

I Have an Iphone 3gs that keeps switching itself off and when i turn it on, the date is set to 1st January 1970 :S   ... many software resets and updates won't do any good .. repaired at the manufacturer twice for the same, and works till it happens again on it's own. When it was repaired, the fix was mentioned as a reset done for the device. I have a friend who is alse havng same issue.
can someone tell what is the reset that can be done to tr and do it from my end plzzz?

Sounds like the battery is dead.  Bu try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iPOd
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
If still problem your battery is very likely dead.  An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • ICloud drive keeps switching itself off on my iPad 2

I have a MBP and an iMac = both on Yosemite and both working with iCloud drive OK.
But I cannot get this to work on iPad 2 with IOS 8 - with either Pages or Keynote.  It keeps telling me to set up iCloud - which I do as per instructions - but it sends me round in the same circles!
This is driving me crazy and has wasted hours!  I have signed in and out of iCloud several times and enabled iCloud Drive.  Then also down to Pages app and checked on for 'use iCloud'  Somehow - this switches itself off again after a few seconds!  How does this happen?
Why does it not stay on????????
While it is 'on' - Every time I try to use the Pages app I cannot see my iCloud drive documents - and when I try and save it then tells me to set up iCloud!
This is useless to me if it will not work as advertised!

I suggest that you do a update or reinstall of the phone software via the Update Service program. www.sonyericsson.com/updateservice
Hopefully will that solve your problem.
If you get the option to update I suggest that you select to update and also factory reset the phone.
If you only get the option to reinstall you already have the latest version, this will automatically result in a master reset too.

  • Jukebox Zen Xtra keeps switching itself

Have got a 30GB Jukebox Zen Xtra (had it since Christmas)...
Everything is fine, except it keeps turning itself on and then playing until I notice it or the battery dies.
I always make sure I have turned it off properly, and the first time it happened I thought that something had pressed on the on/off button accidentally. This was not the case though. Recently, it has been doing it when the player is sat on a flat surface with nothing touching it.
It's getting annoying, as it often plays through the night (when I'm in bed) and when I come to use it on the train in the morning, there's no battery left
Anyone else experienced this or know how to stop it's
    Any help appreciated
    Thanks

  • My i phone 4 keeps switching itself off

Does anyone have an issue where the I-phone 4 just switches itself off, and the only way to get it running again is to connect to the charger and switch it on , it then comes up with a message to say the battery level is it 30% ?

I have the same issue! In fact I posted this exact question!!
    Hugh Grest wrote previously:
    Hi,
My iPhone 4s 16GB is giving me a lot of issues with its battery as of late. Once the battery level reaches below about 30% the phone randomly turns itself off -- even if the battery level didn't reach zero. When I try to turn it back on, it just shows the out of charge symbol on the screen. When I plug it in however it turns itself back on immediately and shows the battery level it turned itself off on. I can then unplug it and continue to use it until the battery level drops to zero or the issue happens again.
Both my mom and my sister have the same model iPhone as me and do not have this issue. What should I do? (It has already been restored).
    Additional info:
    - My Phone is about 23months old
    - Running iOS 6.1.3
    - This issue has been happening for about 3 months or more
EDIT: Just upgraded to iOS 7... didn't help. Infact it made it worse! The phone battery now drains quicker which means the issue happens sooner!
    This is so annoying!

  • My G5 keeps switching itself off

I switch it on and then after about 3-5 mins it switches itself off.
    What gives?
    Andy

Look at Applications>Console and check your System log to see if there are any notations about shutting down after exceeding maximum temperatures. You might also like to run Apple Hardware Test to see if there are any problems with your power supply unit. If you have the first G5 model, the Rev A, you can check the LEDs http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300908.

  • Laptop keeps switching itself off

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone out there could help me if they have experienced the same problem.
My laptop has recently started switching itself off, it's joined to the mains so i didn't think it would be the battery, yet when it switches itself off, it shows the orange low battery light, could it be the battery pack or is it something to do with the laptop itself?
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi Jo,
The usual cause of sudden power-offs is overheating. This is chacterised by the notebook just losing all power with little warning (other than the cooling fans running at full speed). This can be corrected fairly easily by just sucking any dust or debris out of the air intake grilles using a vacuum cleaner hose.
If the notebook powers down in a more controlled fashion then this could be a fault in the power supply electronics which causes the notebook to run on battery power even though the mains AC adapter is connected. In this case the problem may lie with the AC adapter itself, with the connecting cable, or with the socket on the back of the notebook.
