Windows Installer for FlexMotion keeps comming up!

When I log into my machine as a different user, every time I try and run IE or a VB app, Windows Installer keeps trying to install Flex-Motion again!
This is a production machine and NOT acceptable!
How can I get rid of this d*mn thing? I tried installing Flex-Motion again, but now it just gives me "Can connect to network share WinNT\". ARGH!
How can I fix this without designing out the NI hardware from my system (which I would LOVE to do, for all the crap it's caused me!)

Nick,
The reason why the installer will pop-up with IE or VB application is because for some reason your previous installation or operation of the driver broke some file. MAX controls Motion and it is built over IE and VB, so whenever you call this applications it searches registries and founds that there is something wrong with a file in Motion, it will try to go and repair it itself, but since it does not finds the install files it pops up the installer (and the installer searches the registry which as a user you don't have access to), I believe this is the reason also for your message "can't connect to network share...", probably your motion driver was installed from that directory and you don't have access to it as a user. Your best option is to download the files t
o install the driver to your computer, then log as an administrator, install flexmotion (reinstall), and leave the files there. Log as a user and you should be able to use the motion hardware with no problem. In case you do, then your system may be having other issues that we need to troubleshoot more deeply, we have lots of customers using NT, 2000 and XP with users operating motion without any trouble so we may be facing a more complicated issue.
If you have any other concerns about NI software or hardware you can also discuss this with us so we can see what is the reason for this issues to happen, and give you the solutions to help you succeed. Developing with unknown hardware or software can be frustrating but at support we look forward to help you out master our products.
Feel free to contact us, you will find the details at www.ni.com/ask and select "phone NI" from the support options so you can talk with one of us.
Good luck!

You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that this Internet criminal has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Windows Installer for Platform

    Hello,
On Windows, does the WebLogicPlatform use
the Windows Installer Service for installation?
Are product and patches MSI based?
If not, how are upgrades and patch updates handled?
    thanks!

WL Platform installation is not based on msi.
Upgrades and patches are delivered in several ways, e.g., separate executables, zip, or smart update over net.

  • Creating a Windows installer for Java applications

Hello, I have a question about deployment:
I have a pure Java desktop application. Obviously, it's in the form of a JAR file. I want to sell this to users who are "clueless" about Java, so I need to wrap it up in an installer file that does the following:
    1. Detects if there is a JRE on the system. If there isn't, send the user over to java.com to grab one.
    2. Once a JRE is installed, then it should install itself so that there are menu entries on the Start menu, icons, all that kind of stuff.
    3. Ideally it would look like it's just a plain old .exe file so users don't even need to be concerned with JARs, etc.
I found these two open source apps that can wrap a JAR into an EXE:
    http://jsmooth.sourceforge.net/
    http://launch4j.sourceforge.net/
Both of them look great. They take a JAR and make it into a smart .EXE that knows how to find a JRE and provides reasonable feedback if no suitable JRE is found. launch4j can also display a splash screen, which sounds trivial, but is actually quite important for the user experience. That's great. But the next step is to wrap this EXE into a real installer that sets up menus and icons. Any suggestions on this?
    Thanks

  • Problems with windows-installer (setup.exe) for 11.2 beta

windows-installer for XE 11.2 beta appearently FIRST checks the space available on drive C:.
As the installer prevents installation, insiting that there is not enough space (1500Mb) to install oracle-XE, there's nothing but the chance to provided sufficient space on drive C:, no matter to which drive you are determined to install XE to...
wouldn't it be nice to fix that?
    best regards,
    norbert

    Hello Norbert,
there are several objects that will reside on your system drive, perhaps you also have temp on C:\, so I guess you'll actually need space there no matter which drive you chose as target for the (main part of the) installation.
    Note that a similar issue has been discussed here: {thread:id=2201310}

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 pro's windows installer appearing after right click on any file or application

I accidentally deleted the acrobat 9.0 manually from the program files. The acrobat doesn't work... There is also a nuisance. The windows installer for the Adobe acrobat keep on appearing when i right click a file or application. I have to cancel it. If i wait for it to load, it will say that the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click Ok to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installer package "AcroPro.msi" in the box below. if i click ok, it will show an error- the path"..." cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again or try to find the installer package "AcroPro.msi" in a folder from which you can install the product Adobe Acrobat 9 pro ... It will also cause the computer to be very lag. I am seeking assistance. Please help.

This happens when I right click on ANYTHING at all, I can even just right-click on the desktop and that install window comes on!
The program itself opens fine separately. I 'll be honest, I haven't used it much as I am just learning all the programs, so if it is actually working correctly I don't know. I do know that I tried to used the "covert to pdf" button while on Internet Explorer and it would not work. Don't know if the problem is related or not...
I have that idiotic UAC off - it drove me crazy...

  • Bootcamp Windows Installer won't boot properly on rBMP late 2013

I have been redirected to this community. I will repost the same question I asked in the mackbook pro community. I am new to Apple Support Communities, I hope this is okay for me to ask the question here again.
Here is my post in the other community: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5922375?tstart=0
I just bought my MBP Retina 13" Late 2013 last week. It came with Mavericks 10.9, and I have since updated it to 10.9.1.
I have installed Windows 7 64bit using Bootcamp, and ran into a situation, which I hope the experts here could give me a hand.
I used the first two options in Boot Camp Assistant (BCA) and sucessfully created a Bootcamp Windows Installer for Windows 7 64bit on a USB Thumb Drive (USB 3.0). Then I launched Boot Camp Assistant again, and selected the last option to install Windows 7 64 bit on the bootcamp partition, the installation went through successfully. Both Windows 7 and the bootcamp drivers are installed, and I am able to dual boot OS X and Windows properly.
However, if I try to launch Bootcamp Windows 7 USB Installer created using BCA as described in the above by holding down <option> key while rebooting, and select the USB device lableled as 'Windows', Windows 7 Installer starts (in BIOS boot mode, I believe) and then it freezes after it gets to the language selection screen, the mackbook no longer responds to either the trackpad or the keyboard.
In other words, this Windows 7 USB Installer boots properly when launched by BCA's third option. However, this USB Installer does not boot properly when launched by selecting 'Windows' after holding down <option> key while rebooting. What am I doing wrong here?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Joe

I did create a Recovery Disk from inside Windows 7 this weekend following your suggestion. Unfortunately, this has the same problem as the installer.
However, USB Installer I created for Windows 8.1 could boot properly both in BIOS boot mode or EFI boot mode. This Windows 8.1 USB Installer is created using the standard procedure for the BCA; the only difference from the Windows 7 USB Installer is that I used Windows 8.1 ISO instead of Windows 7 ISO.
With this Windows 8.1 USB Installer, I am able to access the BOOTCAMP partition and perform necessary operations to fix startup issues, and perform backup and restore using the native Windows tools for the BOOTCAMP partition. And no need to spend $30 on WinClone
    Thanks for your help!

  • License Key When Using Executable Windows Installer

    Post Author: Robert Flaherty
    CA Forum: Deployment
When using the executable Windows Installer for installing the Crystal 2008 runtime files on client PC, do you need to enter your license key?  If you leave the field blank, what happens?

It sounds like the key you are trying to use is for setting up a KMS, not for activating a windows server station.
If you want to use a KMS, use the following key:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj612867.aspx
Also be sure to create the service record for the KMS in DNS:

  • Bug in windows installer

The windows installer for jmf seems to overwrite the CLASSPATH instead of appending, which you would expect.

There seems to be a bug in Windows 7 when setting the Environment Path Variable from Control Panel - System - Advanced System Settings - System Variables - select Path - click Edit - opens The Edit System Variable dialog box
The Edit System Variable dialog box displayed the same collection of path strings (each terminated by ';') as I get when I opened a command prompt window and type 'path'. However, it was not possible to add a new path string (c:\wills\bin;) after the last
string. I presumed that the collection of path strings was too long so I removed a few of the path strings. Unfortunately, I still couldn't type my new path string.
BUG1: I would appear that length validation for text control in the Edit System Variable dialog box is not set to the same length as the max length for the collection of path strings.
BUG2: I was eventually able to enter my new path string after deleting some more path strings, but I hit further problems after saving my new path variable (press OK) as it seemed to delete some path strings at the start of the collection. For example %SystemRoot%\system32.
Therefore, I was unable to reopen the dialog box from Control Panel.

  • Install problems due to Windows Installer not being accessed

I have been trying to correct the issues with Windows Installer for days.  IO have tried "re-start" through the "run" program via the start menu.  I have tried "fix It" throught Windows web site.  I am running Windows XP media edition and IE 8.  What can I do to allow Windows Intaller access and download Adobe Reader?

A blank message isn't very helpful...
If I were you, I would try running the Actobat and Reader Cleanup Tool
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.htm
to remove all traces of any versions of Reader.
Then, if you want to reinstall Reader, download its full installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.
