Windows Refresh from 8.1 to 8. Will it affect my Premiere Pro 7 CC projects?

Hey,
I'm looking to refresh my HP Pavilion laptop. It came with Windows 8 installed and I upgraded to 8.1 since I purchased it. I've got issues with it waking from sleep mode and have read that a refresh may fix that problem.
My question is - will refreshing Windows from 8.1 back to Windows 8 affect my Abobe Premiere Pro projects, sequences and timelines?
The Microsoft page offers this advice "If your PC isn’t performing as well as it once did, and you don’t know why, you can refresh your PC without deleting any of your personal files or changing your settings."
BUT it also says this
Warning
Applications you’ve installed from websites and DVDs will be removed. Applications that came with your PC and apps you've installed from the Windows Store will be reinstalled. Windows puts a list of removed applications on your desktop after refreshing your PC.
Will Premiere Pro 7 CC be affected?
Thanks for any advice!

I checked and it seems my Windows partition is clean.
I guess I just needed the clarification whether me double clicking on the .lnk file is a problem, if it was considered "opened" by my Mac, or it just didn't open, and the fact that I actually opened a html file while my pendrive was affected. But since it's just a Windows issue, I guess I'm good to go, eh?

The eyedropper tool for selecting colors to key out or to fill text will not work inside premiere pro, this error started when I updated my mac os to yosemite.

    Hi Transportation,
Does the error occur in OS X 10.9? If not, why not remain at OS X 10.9? Is it necessary to run OS X 10.10?
The general rule of thumb is that when you are running software that is no longer tested or supported on a new operating system, you have to prepare for anomalies like this. You may want to install a separate bootable hard drive with OS X 10.9 on it so you can continue running that software more reliably.
    Hope that helps,
    Kevin

  • Apple ProRes HQ files (converted from HDV) will not play in Premiere Pro

I was working on a project in premier pro and finished a draft on 12/24 with no issues.  I took these file directy from their coverted state as .mov files into the PP project and edited on the timeline with no issues.  Shut down on 12/24.  Opened project today, none of the files from the HDV converted format will play correctly OR export correctly.  They are all Black video and still contain the right audio.
As a side note here, this is the same for trying to play the file in Quicktime AND in Apple's Final Cut Pro 7.
The only files affected are those that were uploaded and coverted to Apple ProRes HQ from the HDV format.
Again, this was working and functioning fine un Tuesday, now they appear black in the timeline and viewers.

    Sounds like a clue.
Apple / Mac  updates have a history of creating issues and plenty of evidence supports that statement.
My guess its a QT version issue.

  • Premiere Pro CC Projects Will Not Be Backward Compatable

This may have been mentioned before, but I have looked through the first two pages without finding a reference.  I'm trawling through the CC FAQ, and find lots of answers to questions I was not sure about, but one of the questions is 'Which CC applications support export to CS6?'.  The short list of apps that follow does not include Premiere Pro.  It seems to me that that also means that if you try the CC for the discounted first year, and decide it isn't right for you, any projects you develop in Premiere Pro CC during that year, can not be taken back to Premiere Pro CS6 for further work.  I guess you can import the entire project exported from PP CC, and edit that, but that is not going to be convenient with a multi track, complex project.   Am I not thinking this through correctly?  (Sorry, the forum won't let me paste the link)

I found the following work-around: not perfect, but quite good.
Premiere 6.5 projects can be directly opened in CS6 or earlier just by changing the extension from .ppj to .prproj
Make a copy of the original .prproj file and name it Name_audio-only.prproj
Export sequence(s) as FCP XML from CC - multiple sequences can be selected OR select Project Panel to export entire project (Attention: Most video - even intrinsic ones like motion, opacity etc. and audio effects are not correctly translated! Check beforehand that all 3rd party plugins are installed in all versions of PPro!)
Save a copy of the project as Name_video-only.prproj and delete all audio tracks or audio clips from all sequences that contain video effects
    Close PPro CC project
If the PPro CC project file is compressed, add .gz as extension and extract with 7zip
To disable compression in CC:Ctrl + F12 to open Console, switch to Debug Database View: BE.CompressProject> false
    Open in Notepad++
Edit version number change (4th line) from 26 to 23 or 24 and open the project in PPro CS5.0.3 or PPro 5.5.2 and save it.
If there should be a color picker dialogue box while opening click Cancel (as this is most probably for Adjustment Layer which are not supported in CS5.5)
If PPro CS5.5 shows a Log of non-translated effects etc., copy and paste them into a text file with the project name for later reference.
    PPro Version numbers:
    23>CS5
    24>CS5.5
    25>CS6
    26>CC
    27>CC 2014
A simple change to 23 and opening it directly in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 does not work! (Liegt wahrscheinlich an den Audiotracks, da Projekte mit Sequenzen, die nur Video enthalten, teilw. geöffnet werden können.)
It is possible to open a PPro CS6 project directly in CS5.5 by editing the version number from 25 to 24.
Open this project Name_video-only.prproj in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and convert it to CS6 project - now you have all the sequences with the supported video effects
Import FCP XML project file(s) into PPro CS6 and copy the audio tracks from the corresponding sequences (or vice versa: copy video tracks so they align synchronously again)
Gotcha’s:Through Edits, Adjustment Layers, Time Remapping, 3rd party filters, plugins, transitions may not be correctly translated!
    PRPROJ File Associations
After installing an update to PPro, Windows will change the default program to the latest program version, e.g. CC. If you want to revert those to CS6, you cannot simply do it with Rightclick>Open with>C hange default program..
There is a way to change the setting in the Windows Registry:
    Open regedit.exe as Administrtor
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Adobe.Premiere.Pro.Project. >  shell/open/command and change the path in “” to the correct program version.
You can also do a search in the section of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Adobe.Premiere.(with various endings following the word "Premiere") and change all remaining instances.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 Project Manager gives error & will not manage project - OS X Lion 10.7.5

Premiere CS6 project manager reports  an error and will not manage my project. I have tried several times with both "Create New Trimmed Project" and " Collect Files and Copy to New Location". I have also tried to manage the project with options checked and unchecked (Include Preview Files, Include Audio Conform Files, Rename Media Files to Match Clip Names). Every time I try to manage the project, the process takes a few hours and then gives an error asking me to try again.
The project is 90 minutes long and uses multiple footage formats:
    Sony FS100
    Sony NEX7
    Sony NEX-5n
    Canon C300
    Canon 5DmkII
    Panazonic HVX200
    My computer is:
    Processor  2 x 2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory  12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
Is this a bug, or are there specific things I can do to troubleshoot the problem? I have read of issues with AVCHD. I have confirmed all of my AVCHD folders are intact. Any other Ideas?
    THANKS!

I have this same problem on a Mac with CS6. I was simple trying to archive a project using the "collect files" option. After five or six hours of troubleshooting (Thanks Adobe) I have narrowed it down to MXF clips that came over in a Final Cut EDL (Projects created in PP with MXF files seem to be fine).  In other words, as I was transitioning from FCP to Premiere Pro, I sent four or five projects out of FCP as an EDL, opened them in PP and continued to edit.  It seemed to work really well until I attempted to archive my media.  If there was a single raw MXF file in the timeline (Not the project panel for some reason) the Project Manager would give me the standard error:"An unknown error occurred during the Project Manager operation. Please save your project and retry the operation.".
I have found two solutions that seem to work, both of which are a pain in the ax.
Option 1: Save the original project file only to an archive folder.  Then delete all the old timelines from the project, and save the project with a new name.  Create a new timeline and just drag all the raw video and audio into it. (Project Manager needs a timeline of some sort to archive) Then use the Project Manager to archive the modified project.  If I need the project in the future, I'll need to open the original PP project and relink all the media from the archived "media only" project folder.
Unbelievably, if you were to take this route and then re-edit the project in the future, it looks like you would run up against the same archiving issue AGAIN next time (At least using CS6). You'd have to go through all the steps above to archive it a second time. Depending on the size of your project, you may want to take option 2 and get the pain over with once-and-for-all.
Option 2: If you only have a couple of MXF files in the timeline (in my case I had mostly renders from AE by the time I was done and THAT raw project had archived in AE just fine) you can export the raw MXF files to another format, then replace the media in your project panel.  Finally, use the Project Manager to archive the project like you should have been able to in the first place if Adobe had written the code well in the first place!

It will certainly affect your performance and ability to handle/change your code. Change it to an array of plots, either as a 2D array (if using the same sampling rate), or an array of clusters with the channels (1D array?) as data. From a machine perspective 70 SRs should work, but not from a person perspective.

  • Render files from After Effects inserts do not reload when starting Premiere Pro (CS6)

    Hi there,
When I have an insert from After Effects in Premiere Pro, and when I render these parts in the sequence, everything is fine untill I restart Premiere Pro: the render files do not load. Checking the cache directory however, they do exist! Anybody knows how to solve this issue?
    Thanks for yor response, Pieter

I failed to mention that I tried this on another computer as well with a completly different lesson. This time I brought the whole footage in to afteraffects and did the keying and then went back to CS6 and tried to render it, and it locked up my second computer the same way.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 Project Files Not Recognised by Windows

Gidday, I hope someone can help with this problem.  Premiere Pro(and After Effects) have worked perfectly on my laptop up until now. Saved PP projects are not recognised by Windows 7. I can open a new project but once I save it, it is not recognised and won't open and I can't reset either as the default programs for those files. The applications are visible in the start menu so it is very strange as all were working fine last week and nothing has been done to the laptop in the meantime.
Anyone else come up against this problem?
    Thanks
    Steve

Steve, I just had this happen as well.
I used the Programs section of the Windows Control Panel to initiate an uninstall.  On Adobe's Unistall setup screen (or whatever it may be called) I selected to uninstall PP only. When it was done I restarted and then installed PP only.  And then it was back to "normal."

I recently upgraded my operating system from Vista to Windows 7.  Ibacked up all of my music on an external hard drive before I reformatted my computer.  I have reloaded iTunes several times and attempted to transer my files back to my computer.  Everything appears to transfer but once I remove the external hard drive I get a message stated file cannot be located.  What am I doing wrong?

  • Problems while open a premiere pro CC project from open cl to cuda

    Hello.
So, we work in network, between two pc's using cuda acceleration and one macpro 2013 using openCL.
When i was opening a project created with the macpro on CC2013 and try to open it with CC2014 it was impossible to switch to the cuda gpu acceleration. I can only work with the software acceleration and it's not good at all.
Does someone has the same problem here ?
Any solution to fix this ? or Adobe didn't think about collaborative jobs on multiple plateform/GPU ?
    Thank You all

    hello kevin.
Well i have find the issue to this problem. I discovered a cuda gpu update for adobe CC 2014. I've made the update and it's semms to be good.
But It seems that it creates a new problem : Now, when i open a Cs5.5 project into CS5.5, a message appaears who says "this project was used for the last time with acceleration gpu mercury playback engine, this software is not available on this system. Mercury playback engine software will be used only".
And I've created this project with the same machine, on CS5. WTF ?
I've tried with others projects and it's the same, It's a pain in the *** because i don't want to create a CC version for all the projects of the company who i working for.
Have you any idea that could help ?
    Thanx

  • Suddenly, Premiere Pro video project will not play at all

I've been working on several versions of a video project in premiere, and suddenly none on the files will play at all. I'm fairly new to premiere, but all I've ever had to do in the past is make sure the timeline is selected and hit play. Now nothing happens in any of my sequences. I would very much appreciate suggestions.

  • How to install Windows 7 from a USB drive!

This is even easier than installing Windows XP from a USB drive, and will also reduce the time taken to install Windows 7, it took me about 15 minutes!
The advice in the guide is also applicable to installing Vista.
    You need basically:
a USB flash drive at least 4GB in size
    a Windows 7 DVD
    To sum up:
Format your USB drive, with the NTFS filesystem
Open Command Prompt as an administrator, and run the Bootsect.exe program off the Windows 7 CD to make the USB drive bootable
Copy the contents of the Windows 7 DVD to the USB drive
Restart your PC, press F11 (or whichever key it is) to access the Boot menu, and select your USB drive to boot from

I have done this and it is simple.
I cleaned and (re)formated an 8GB flash drive under Windows7 using diskpart.  I chose quick format and a fat filesystem.  It doesn't need to be ntfs.  I had diskpart mark the partition active.  I copied the DVD contents to the flash drive.  I also made a folder on it for motherboard drivers.
After that, I booted the drive on a new machine.  Windows7 setup came up, and didn't find any hard drives, other than the USB flash drive.  I clicked the button to load drivers, and pointed it to the folder I had copied them to on the flash.  Windows installed without problems.
Hi bnborg..Do u mind sharing with me your motherboard driver folder? I have the MSI U135DX Netbook and each time I hit the button to install Windows 7 it asks me for some mobo driver...Think i might need it to get tru with a successful install..

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 keeps freezing when loading projects from Premiere Pro CC

    Hi everyone,
I'm reporting this issue in case someone else would have the same problem.
I just downloaded the 2014 version of Premiere Pro CC, and when I'm loading a project from Premiere Pro CC into CC2014 I have the software freezing and being unable to even play the loaded sequences. It seems that dynamic link is having trouble linking the CC and the CC2014 version of Premiere Pro.
Until now the only solution I found was to kill the process of the software and start it again, after 8 times I got my sequence loaded alright, then sometimes it is freezing again, killing process, starting software again, and so on. Does anyone has the same problem ?
I'm running a Windows 7 Ultimate PC with 12Go RAM dedicated only to Premiere Pro.
    Cheers,
    Vincent

    Hi Vincent,
I feel your pain, you are not alone. Here are my machine specs and my very frustrating situation, if anyone has any idea as to how I should move forward, I would really appreciate the input/advice...
    iMac - 27" Late 2013
Processor  3.4 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory  12 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB
    Software  OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)
I'm having similar issues that began when I installed Premiere Pro CC 2014, and actually got worse with the latest update/release. The majority of my projects worked fine at first, but the update last week ended that quickly. I did what I know I never should do and updated Adobe CC while completing a project on a deadline. I thought some of the fixes would help me complete the project sooner. Needless to say, the deadline has passed, my client is pissed enough to not pay me or hire me again and I'm stuck with an almost-there version that I can't export correctly because of this software. This is my problem, not Adobe's, but I didn't expect such a detrimental update to halt my operation.
After doing some research, I found that some plugins could be the cause of some specific editing issues, mainly due to incorrect or inaccessible folders - who knows if its Dynamic Link, CC apps or 2014 apps. I concluded that my issue at the time was a plugin permissions issue on the Adobe "Preference" Folder, so I reset the permissions on the folder so that CC and 2014 apps would be able to access its contents without any problems. This was the wrong decision. For some reason, resetting this folders permissions also effected the main HDD, it's Kernel Text files and their respective permission. I could not boot my machine, just got the Apple and spinning wheel until I had to power down. I ended up on the phone with 3 different AppleCare reps who helped me at least be able to turn the machine back on and access my desktop/files, apps, etc. Outside of this, no one could offer anything other than "Uninstall the problematic application, reboot, reinstall, etc..." or "Backup your files and reimage the HDD." When I mentioned the recent CUDA driver update for my graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB now running CUDA Driver Version: 6.0.51), it was like they had never heard of graphics cards being used in their machines.
Resetting permissions on Adobe Preference Folder...
This is what I read would get the CC and 2014 apps communicating correctly so that they could utilize my plugins. There is a problem, I believe, in that their are TOO MANY locations where Adobe folders/components live. There are 3 "Preferences" folders that I found, and I don't know which effects what process, but the folder I changed permissions on clearly effects the operation of all of the CC & 2014 apps I had installed, as well as my HDD. Kernel Extensions and the entire system.
Based on my perceived effects of the Preference folder, I needed to uninstall everything, run the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool, download/install just the 2014 releases and see if that resolved the issue. I'm not downloading CC apps, the 2014 releases should run fine on their own. I've yet to confirm this with Adobe, as what I've read has simply said to install the new release next to the CC apps, rather than on top of, as traditional update releases work. Anyway, one by one, I reinstalled the 14 apps that I use on a regular basis on a "clean" machine with no trace of previous Adobe apps.
After reinstalling (without any plugins), I was at least able to open Premiere Pro from the Application folder and work for a few minutes before both Program and Source monitors froze and had to force quit the app. If I try to open the Project File by double clicking it in the Finder, SpeedGrade opens up instead of Premiere Pro - never seen that before. I also had to force quit to end that process and reopen in Premiere instead of SpeedGrade.
So back to Premiere, if I do have success in opening a project in the right application, Premiere freezes - if not immediately, eventually it will just stop responding. The video clips, sequence segments and UI freeze, but the audio will keep playing until I force quit. When I force quit, Premiere Pro doesn't close entirely. The UI closes, but the process still runs. I've even force quit from Finder, force quit again from the Dock, Shut Down the machine, restarted and Premiere Pro will still be open, but "Not Responding", so I force quit again and open the project. Just now, I opened PP, made minor edits to a sequence, sent it to Media Encoder, exported, but the video I tested exported without audio. I force quite PP twice just before that and it is still running now, but again, it is "not responding".
Ultimately, none of this works, nor have my attempts at resolving these many issues. One thing I know is that there is something VERY WRONG with either the latest release/update to 2014 apps, the Preference folder or the permissions that were changed.
As I mentioned previously, and what I think is a major oversight by someone at Adobe, is that for some reason the permission changes to ONE Adobe folder also effected my entire system and Macintosh HD. Some Kernel Extension files went missing, which is never good and should not happen when resetting folder permissions, so I believe my issues are far greater than the faulty Adobe CC 2014 applications, and is the cause of many of my problems right now. If I can't get things sorted soon, I'm going to reimage my HDD and start from scratch. As much as I would like to avoid this, I really have no choice if I want to get back to work and not lose clients over inexplicable technology issues.
If I find a solution, I will repost, but I think Adobe has to make some serious fixes on this release before anything is resolved entirely. I pay them monthly and rely on their software and platform to work without issue, which is foolish - I know, but I've used CC since it was introduced and it has work well enough until now.
Is there anyone at Adobe that can offer some advice??
