Windows Server 2008 R2 Crystal Report XI Runtime hosted on IIS 7 32 bit

Hi all,
We have discovered that our software department installed Windows Server 2008 R2 in a production environment.
The production environment hosts asp .net applications on IIS 7 that enables 32 bit applicatons to run over it.
We still develope on Windows XP and Visual Studio 2005 using Crystal Report XI runtime.
Reports are compatible and run properly in production environment having enabled application pool of IIS 7 in 32 bit mode.
Is Crystal report XI runtime supported on windows server 2008 R2 hosted on IIS7 32 bit mode?
Regards.
Roberto.

Hello,
Where to start.... first thing to do is search, lots of posts on these exact questions...
First, CR XI R2 does not support 4.0 framework, although MS does say it's fully backward compatible but it is not supported on Windows 2008 R2 unless you upgrade to CR XI R2A
https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009114712011E/crxir2sp4_fullbuild.exe
https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009114412011E/crxir2sp6_incremental.exe
Or for a clean PC https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009114712011E/crxir2sp4_fullbuild.exe
Redist is on our download page.
Second is CR XI R2 is not supported in VS 2010. Only one supported is CR for VS 2010 which you can download from here:
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/crystalreports-dotnet
Bottom of the page has all of the download links for the 32 and 64 bit runtime for your WEB server.
App Pool must run in 32 mode, just in case you are using 64 bit OS.
Lastly, if you are using the SAP Integration Kit to connect to your BEX query then bad news, CR for VS 2010 doesn't have API's available to set the log on on info.
You may be able to use B1, it uses CR 2008 OEM Build and they may support this. Search that forum to see if they do:

  • Windows Server 2008 and Crystal Reports 8.5 printing issue

    I am having a problem when using the crystal reports 8.5 report viewer ocx (ActiveX) under Windows Server 2008.
    When logging onto the server through remote desktop, a report can be shown on screen in preview. When this report is printed, and the user requests more than one copy, the printer only ever prints one copy. Is this a configuration of the terminal server, or simply that the ocx control doesn't cater for it?
    I am using the Windows Server 2008 "Terminal services Easy Print" drivers on the terminal server.
    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Hi Sastry
    I can print multiple pages from notepad without any issues. It is only the print from the crystal OCX control that has the issue. It has it's own print dialog box.
    Thanks

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 (Linux) - Crystal Reports/MySQL/ODBC Issue

    Hello,
    I have successfully installed CRS '08 on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 server.  All services run fine.
    In the CMC, I have uploaded a Crystal Report that connect to a remote MySQL server.
    I have installed the My SQL ODBC 3.51.11 and .12 Drivers as a System DSN.
    I have proven that the reports run fine in Crystal Reports 2008 directly against the remote MySQL DB server.
    (in Windows but with the same 3.51 ODBC Drivers)
    I have also proven that the database connection works okay from the CRS '08 Red Hat server to the remote MySQL DB server, when also creating a system DSN (using bash ./ODBCConfig)
    The problem is that when I log into the CMC or InfoView, and when I run the Crystal Reports from there, I get an error message:
    "Error in File <MyCrystalReport>: Failed to load database information"
    Is there something wrong with my specific Crystal Reports' Database Configuration? (Right click- Database Configuration)
    I see the driver was registered correctly in the /etc/odbc.ini file
    Am I supposed to set any other ODBC environment variables?
    Is there are firewall issue (port 3306 is already open)?
    In summary, the install was successful, and Crystal Reports can be uploaded and viewed via CMC or InfoView, but I cannot run the Crystal Reports against the database.
    Please advise, Thanks!

    Hi, I'm facing a similar problem. My ODBC DSN never works with CRS. Here are the details:<br><br>
    (1) I  installed the CRS 2008 in /opt/crystalreportsserver_2008_v1/ on a Linux platform. The CRS works well. I created a report with Crystal Reports 2008. This report directly connects to a MySQL server. After I published the report and manually modify its database configuration, I can browse it from InfoView. I'm sure that CRS, MySQL, and a report connecting to MySQL are all good.<br><br>
    (2) Then, I created an ODBC DSN on a Windows platform. This DSN connects to a MySQL server. I created another report with Crystal Reports using this DSN. The report can show the data within Crystal Reports.<br><br>
    (3) Then, I published the second report to CRS, but when I try to browse it, I always get such a message: Failed to open the connection.<br><br>
    I have configured the ODBC for CRS on the Linux server and I think the configuration is correct. This is how I do that: I edited the /opt/crystalreportsserver_2008_v1/bobje/odbc.ini file. In the file I added a data source called ods_telstar. Following is the content of the file:<br><br>
    [ODBC Data Sources]<br><
    CRSQLServerWP=DataDirect 5.3 SQLServer Wire Protocol Driver<br>
    CRSybaseWP=DataDirect 5.3 Sybase Wire Protocol Driver<br>
    CRText=DataDirect 5.3 Text Driver<br>
    %SYBASEDSN%=DataDirect 5.3 Sybase Wire Protocol Driver<br>
    ods_telstar = MySQL<br>
    <br>
    ... <br>
    <br>
    [ods_telstar]<br>
    Description     = ODS on telstar<br>
    Trace       = Off<br>
    TraceFile   = stderr<br>
    Driver      = /opt/crystalreportsserver_2008_v1/bobje/enterprise120/linux_x86/odbc/lib/libmyodbc5.so<br>
    SERVER      = xxx<br>
    USER        = xxx<br>
    PASSWORD    = xxx<br>
    PORT        = 3306<br>
    DATABASE    = ods<br>
    <br>
    In the middle I removed some data source definitions that are by default in the file. Note that I use "xxx" to replace the server name, user, and password. Such information is for internal use and I'm sure the original information is correct. The MySQL ODBC driver file has been put in the correct location. Correct access permissions has been assigned to the file.<br><br>
    I've tried to restart the CRS server, but still the report using ODBC DSN cannot be viewed.<br><br>
    The reason that we want to user ODBC DSN is that we may have many reports to publish. When we design the reports, we specify that they get data through an ODBC DSN such as ods_telstar. If we configure the same DSN on CRS, then we don't need manually modify each report's configuration after we publish them. If these reports are directly connecting to MySQL, then we have to manually modify each one's database configuration after we publish them.<br><br>
    I've no idea what's wrong with all the setup. Any suggestions and comments are appreciated!<br>

  • Upgrade to Windows Server 2008 installation fails (reports Services to uninstall but they are not installed)

    I am upgrading a Windows Server 2003 to 2008.
    When I run the install it completes the Compability check and reports that Sharepoint Services and WSUS are installed. They are not installed and are not running Services either. I have attempted to remove Registry keys for these but this does not resolve
    my issue.
    Control Panel, Add/Remove does not report these as installed either.
    How do I get the 2008 install to continue and ignore these OR how do I "truly" get these "uninstalled" if there is nothing I can do to find out what is reporting that they are installed?

    SBS 2003 does contain these feature by default. Is this a small business server OS?  If so I'd try them over here.

  • Crystal Report Server 2008 vs Crystal Report Enterprise

    Dear all,
    We're planning to publish crystal reports for end users generate themselves. We've installed the crystal report server 2008 in a testing server however I am confused "Crystal report server 2008" vs. "crystal report enterprise". When I look into the administrator guide, it keeps telling me how and what crystal report enterprise can do rather than crystal report server.
    Are they the same product but different terminology?
    Your help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rachel.

    Hi Rachel,
    No, these 2 products are differents: Crystal enterprise is older as Crystal Server 2008, but the 2 applications have the same purposes.
    You can find here all the products guides about the Business Objects (and SAP) products:
    https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/bosap-support-guide
    In a sense, I understand that you are getting confused, as the documentation about Crystal enterprise is a great deal bigger as for Crystal Server 2008... For instance, I didn't find an "admin guide" for Crystal Server 2008, but you can find it for Crystal Enterprise!
    I suggest you to download the Business enterprise XI 3.0 admin guide, as many of the "server features" in Crystal Server 2008 are based on this platform (portal integration, send reports via emails...)
    I doesnt't find an ideal solution, and I fear you have to use a mix of 2 books in order to manage your application: the Crystal Enterprise admin guide and the Business enterprise XI 3.0 admin guide...
    Sorry,
    Wish you good luck !

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime, Windows Server 2008 64-Bit AND SharePoint2007

    Hi Guys,
    here i'm again.
    Well I'm developing on a 32-Bit OS with Crystal Reports 2008. I've deployed my solution to SharePoint, but when i try to call a report in the aspx-Website i get the following error:
    Exception Details: CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.LoadSaveReportException: An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime. Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient, or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly. Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) containing the correct version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64, or Itanium) required. Please go to http://www.businessobjects.com/support for more information.
    Here are the technical details:
    - Windows Server 2008 (64Bit)
    - IIS7
    - Microsoft Office Server 2008 (64Bit)
    - Crystal Reports 2008 SP3
    I've read, that there isn't a 64-Bit runtime version of CR2008. Then i tryed the two following suggestions i found in this forum:
    1. Try to run the IIS-Application-Pool in 32-Bit-Mode -> This don't work, because SharePoint then throws a "Internal Server Error - Code 500" (no SharePoint Sites are available).
    2. Try to compile the Visual Studio Project as 32-Bit -> This don't work, because SharePoint could not load the assembly
    Well, are there any other hints, suggestions or  experiences how i could get this to work?
    Thanks in advance,
    Christian

  • Management Pack for Windows Server 2008 Enterprise SP1

    Hello,
    I tried to manage the performance of a Windows Server 2008 Enterprise SP1 (6.0.6001) but SCOM 2007 R2 just check the availability with a ping status.
    I have installed the normal management packs:
    On the same SCOM, I have servers with Windows Server 2008 R2 and they work perfect.
    What can I do?

    Hi Journey Tinoco,
    Performance can be monitored by using the active alerts TAB where a alert / alerts will be triggered based on the default management pack which you have installed / imported or if you have created a custom monitor based on your preference on what performance
    counter you want to monitor on windows server 2008 servers VIA SCOM.
    Or you can pull server performance report specific for Windows server 2008 from the reporting TAB as per the below screen shot for details.
    The one which you are opened is the health explorer view which is not showing much details.
    Go to reporting TAB ===> Select Windows server 2008 operating system monitoring and then What ever appropriate report you need to pull based on your requirement. For example i have pulled a report below for "Operating system performance.
    Over here Click object and select the computer name and the icon should be a Windows serve / Computer as per the icon in my screen shot below. Select the time and date from and to the report you want and dont touch the add object option. Once done click
    the Run button on the left to you will get the report as below.
    Please note: If the below report is what you are looking for is not available in your SCOM's  reporting TAB. Then you have not installed the reporting Management pack for Windows server 2008 monitoring. Download
    it from the below link.

    Hope this helps you.

  • Running oracle database xe (express edition) on windows server 2008 r2

    Is it supported to run Oracle Database XE on Windows Server 2008 R2?
    Database XE is only supported as 32-bit. Current builds of Windows Server 2008 only come in x64 configurations.
    Here are the Database XE system requirements for windows:
    [http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18803/toc.htm]
    The docs say that 32-bit windows is required, yet they also say that windows server 2008 is supported.
    Windows Server 2008 R2 came out in 2009, and in R2 they eliminated 32-bit OS (though there is the WOW64 subsystem to run 32-bit programs within the 64-bit OS).
    See:
    - [Wikipedia page about windows server 2008 with info on R2|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Server_2008#Windows_Server_2008_R2]
    - [Wikipedia page on "windows 32-bit on windows 64-bit"|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WOW64]
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hello Matt,
    Is it supported to run Oracle Database XE on Windows Server 2008 R2?No.
    The docs say that 32-bit windows is required, yet they also say that windows server 2008 is supported.So this means that only 32bit versions of 2008 will be supported.
    Windows Server 2008 R2 came out in 2009, and in R2 they eliminated 32-bit OS (though there is the WOW64 subsystem to run 32-bit programs within the 64-bit OS).Which is probably why 2008 R2 is not supported.
    You can either take the VM approach and install a 32 bit Windows or 64 bit Linux host, or you can queue in the list of persons waiting for a 64 bit Windows release. See the following thread for details (and the queue) for the latter: {thread:id=2277728}

  • Install Business Objects XI R2 on Windows Server 2008

    Hi,
    I want to install Business Objects on Windows Server 2008 using IIS7 however i cannot select the IIS ASP.Net option when I get to the "Choose Web Component Adapter Type" screen.

    Ok,
    After not having much like with installing on IIS7.0 i opted to do an install with the TomCat Server.
    This was also not successful, It seems that TomCat relies on a service called NTLMSSP
    this has been removed in both Vista and Server 2008.. (I guess this is why ive been having so many issues!)...
    After doing some reading on the above mentioned service it is quite possible that IIS 7 could also be using it.
    Thanks for all your responses, but i guess this is a definate thing now (just in case some one else comes looking for this information)

  • Support for Crystal Report XI runtime on Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hi all,
    I was wondering if Crystal report XI runtime is supported on Windws Server 2008 R2.
    I've found this url http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e06b8953-a62b-2d10-38b9-ca71f747e2b1?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true&59511066859035
    We are develping with .Net framework 2.0.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.
    Roberto.

    Hi Roberto,
    By 'Crystal report XI runtime' if you mean CR 11.0, then it is not supported with Windws Server 2008 R2.
    See the compatibility chart.
    http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?original_fqdn=wiki.sdn.sap.com&pageId=56787567
    The link you have referred is for Crystal Reprots for VS 2010 / 2012 / 2013 which is the lates version of CR which provides the SDK.

  • Visual Studio 2005 deploy Crystal Report to Windows Server 2008 64-bit

    I've read a lot of posts here regarding deploying on a 64-bit server, but I'm still confused.
    We use Visual Studio 2005 to develop on a Windows XP machine.  We use the built-in version of Crystal that comes with VS2005.
    We want to deploy the runtime to a Windows Server 2008 running 64-bit.  We want to deploy using the msi runtime components and not the merge modules.
    We end up with the message "An error has occurred while attempting to load Crystal Reports".
    So, the question is, can we build & deploy a 64-bit version, and if so, what are we doing wrong here ?  At first glance, I don't see VS 2005 as listing Windows 2008 as a supported platform, so am I dead in the water right there ?  If that's the case .... then what are my options ?
    Any help or pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated !
    Thank You,
    Wayne

    In a nut shell, the only two 64 bit versions of Crystal Reports are 10.2 (bundles with .NET 2005) and 10.5 (bundles with .NET 2008). All other versions of Crystal Reports are 32 bit only. - Crystal Report Basic Runtime for Visual Studio 2008 (x64)
    On a 32bit-system or 32bit-mode (and 32bit Oracle Client) everything is working fine. But I have to use the 64bit Oracle Client, therefore, Crystal Report have to work in 64bit-mode.
    Is it possible and what is to do to get it working, thanks,

    It does work on 64 bit OS - as a 32 bit application. CR 2008 is 32 bit only.

  • Crystal 2008 Runtime error on Windows Server 2008

    I have a simple ASP.Net web applications that is using reports developed in Crystal 2008.  My server OS is Windows Server 2008 and has the Crystal 2008 SP1 runtime controls installed.  When I run the application it works fine until I actually try to run the report.  As the paremeter screen is attempting to load I am getting several script errors on the page.
    _de is undefined, object not specified, bobj is undefinded are the major messages.  I have researched for several hours and have had no success.  I have come to the conclusion that the web page does not know where to find the .js and .css crystal files or does not have the correct permissions to access the files.
    One thing that I found online and tried was to add a line of code in the HTML that specified the script as java and the location of the JS file for the viewer.  This helped but still had errors.
    BTW....This application runs fine on a Windows Server 2003 SP2 OS.
    Anyone had the same issue?  Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Forgot to mention my development environment is VS 2008.

    I downloaded Crystal Reports 2008 - Service Pack 3 Full Build - that wouldn't install
    Downloaded Crystal Reports 2008 - Service Pack 3 - which installed successfully.
    I now have ....
    Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime SP2
    Crystal Reports 2008 SP2
    Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 Update
    I found another thread similar to the error I am getting which recommended adding Everyone to the Permissions on the C:\Windows\Temp folder. With this set, when I try to navigate to the report on the web app I don't get the error as before - but the application just sits there and spins it wheels and nothing happens. When I take off this permission I am back to the previous error.
    Theres nothing revealing in the eventlogs that I can see.
    Do you think this could be down to IIS just not knowing what to do with a .rpt file?

  • Crystal Reports 10 Compatibility with Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hello I'm a developer and I'm in the process of migrating my ASP.NET application that uses crystal reports 10 from a win2k3 server to a win2k8 R2 server.
    First of all, is CR 10 compatible with windows server 2008 R2?
    The application is up and running on the new server, the only thing that fails is the reports. I get the following error message:
    Error in file ....c:\windows\temp\{TEMP_FILE_NAME}.rtp
    Failed to create the Crystal Query Engine.
    This occurs at report.load(..)
    I did already grant NETWORK SERVICE access to Temp and ran the CR redistribute msi that came with Visual Studio 2008 - CRRedist2008_x64.msi.
    Please help

    YESSSS!!!! IT WORKS!!
    Finally, after days of installing, uninstalling, setting permissions, crawling through process monitor output.. I finally have it working.
    For anyone with the same problem, here's what worked for me:
    I had to use the 32-bit runtime
    set application pool to 32-bit
    grant the following permissions based on the different errors listed below:
    Error in File UNKNOWN.RPT
    - Give NETWORK SERVICE list permission on C: Drive, run a report, then remove NETWORK SERVICE from the list (weird, but works, and I had to do this every single time I setup Crystal Reports on a new computer so far).
    - You might also have to set correct permission on 'Temp' if u get still get this error.
    Error in file ....c:\windows\temp.rtp
    Failed to create the Crystal Query Engine
    - Grant correct permission to C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects (your path may vary)
    (For me it was giving Users Modify permission to Business Objects folder)
    Unknown Query Engine ErrorError in File C:\Windows\TEMP\.rpt:
    Unknown Query Engine Error
    - Switch application pool to 32-bit.
    - Make sure Crystal Reports Runtime is 32-bit (CRRedist2008_x86.msi)
    Thank you guys so much for all your help and sticking through this with me.
