Hi Taufeeq,
First I want to check if you ran the script on DC (Domain Controller) with Domain Admin?
For the error caused by AD module, Please try to follow these steps to troubleshoot the Active Directory Web Services:
1.  Locate the file "C:\Windows\ADWS\Microsoft.ActiveDirectory.WebServices.exe.config"
2.  Add a couple of debug keys in the <AppSettings> section of the config file allowed me to log the ADMGS error on the server and diagnose the real source of the error.
<add key="DebugLevel" value="Info" />
<add key="DebugLogFile" value="C:\Windows\Debugadws.log" />
3.  After set up debugging and restarted the Active Directory Web Service, then review the log file "C:\Windows\Debugadws.log".
For more detailed information, please refer to this article:

  • Power Shell script to send a email with event details when an specified event occur

    I want a power shell scrip to send a email to a specific email id with the event details when an specified event triggered. The default option to trigger the email on event occur is failed.

    Why is everybody now saying "I want, I want, I want"
    Can you say what is happening?  Can you post a script with a line that is failing?  No!  All you want is a free script.
    Start by learning how to script.   Try at least to write a simple "hello World" script.  Until then you cannot post here.

    if necessary???   Thanksss!!!

    Which operating system are you running?
    I would upgrade if I wanted to use or write scripts that make use of features in later versions.

  • Power-shell script to install scom agent to multiple servers

    Hi
    we are trying to upgrade/install scom 2012 r2 agents to our windows servers (300+) server via powershell script.
    we are wanting the result to be written to csv file but we are facing difficulty in trying to find the object/value to look at to the put the condition against.
    we found the script that does for ping(below part script) result but we want to capture any failure. is there anything we can use to achieve what we ant to do?
    Thank you in Advance.
    -------------------Sample script--------------------------
    # Ping the computer
        $pingStatus = Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_PingStatus -Filter "Address = '$computer'";
        if($pingStatus.StatusCode -eq 0)
            #If computer is up, write message and launch agent install
    InstallSCOMAgent $Computer
    "Success , $computer." | out-file "D:\output.csv" -Append -NoClobber
    #Write-Host -ForegroundColor Green  "Reply received from $computer.";
        else
            #Else, just write a message indicating computer unreachable
           "Failed , $computer." | out-file "D:\output.csv" -Append -NoClobber

    Just in case Newbie like me wondering how it can be done
    Here is the code (of course i got the help) simple but does what i want at this stage.  Next I am looking at how I can push the agents in parallel, this script will take fairly long time when trying to push to huge number of servers.
    #Import PowerShell Modules
    import-module OperationsManager
    #Variables
    $InstallAccount = Get-Credential domainname\username
    $PrimaryMgmtServer = Get-SCOMManagementserver -Name <managementservername>
    #Connect to OpsMgr Management Group
    Start-OperationsManagerClientShell -ManagementServerName: <managementservername> -PersistConnection: $true -Interactive: $true;
    $list = Import-Csv -Path 'D:\temp\serverlist.csv'
    foreach ($entry in $list)
    $computer = $entry.ServerName
        try
        Install-SCOMAgent -Name $computer -PrimaryManagementServer $PrimaryMgmtServer -ActionAccount $InstallAccount -ErrorAction Stop
    #Write Success message into file
    "$computer, Success." | out-file "D:\temp\result.csv" -Append -NoClobber

  • IIS Issue:when trying to download code from AWS S3 and deploy in IIS server using Power Shell script while Windows startup Default Application pool is not started.

    Hi,
    I am trying to launch Amazon EC2 windows server 2008 R2 instance using AWS Auto Scaling feature. I have used cusmized AMI in Autoscaling Launch configuration to launch an instance.I have placed Power Shell script in AMI.
    The responsibility of script is to download code from AWS S3 and deploy in IIS server while windows startup first time.
    When i check status, IIS is started succesfully. But default Application pool is not started.
    To resolve this issue i have written one scheduled script. It helps to start the application pool if any application pool is in stopped state.
    After this Application pool is started but i am not able to communicate with IIS server through browser.
    Please help any one to resolve this issue.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Vchreddy,

  • How to Execute Power Shell Command From Windows Application.

    Hi All Experts,
    I want to execute power shell commands from my windows application.
    Is it possible ?
    Please let me know your comments..
    Thanks.

    I have not tried this, but apprently it is easy as in the sample pasted below. please see this article for more details
    http://geekswithblogs.net/Norgean/archive/2012/09/19/running-powershell-from-within-sharepoint.aspx.
    Let me know how it goes...
    public string RunPowershell(string powershellText, SPWeb web, string param1, string param2) {
    // Powershell ~= RunspaceFactory - i.e. Create a powershell context
    var runspace = RunspaceFactory.CreateRunspace();
    var resultString = new StringBuilder();
    try
    // load the SharePoint snapin - Note: you cannot do this in the script itself (i.e. add-pssnapin etc does not work)
    PSSnapInException snapInError;
    runspace.RunspaceConfiguration.AddPSSnapIn("Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell", out snapInError);
    runspace.Open();
    // set a web variable.
    runspace.SessionStateProxy.SetVariable("webContext", web);
    // and some user defined parameters
    runspace.SessionStateProxy.SetVariable("param1", param1);
    runspace.SessionStateProxy.SetVariable("param2", param2);
    var pipeline = runspace.CreatePipeline();
    pipeline.Commands.AddScript(powershellText);
    // add a "return" variable
    pipeline.Commands.Add("Out-String");
    // execute!
    var results = pipeline.Invoke();
    // convert the script result into a single string
    foreach (PSObject obj in results)
    resultString.AppendLine(obj.ToString());
    finally
    // close the runspace
    runspace.Close();
    // consider logging the result. Or something.
    return resultString.ToString();
    Ok. We've written some code. Let us test it.
    var runner = new PowershellRunner();
    runner.RunPowershellScript(@"
    $web = Get-SPWeb 'http://server/web' # or $webContext
    $web.Title = $param1
    $web.Update()
    $web.Dispose()

  • Need a power shell command for Front End fail over?

    We have a Lync 2013 infrastructure with 2 front ends and 2 edges.
    The environment was setup by a partner and the servers were configured for failover in case one goes down in the pool.
    However the last time windows updates were applied and the primary FE had to be restarted, the secondary FE did not automatically switch over as the active server and it caused a companywide outage.
    In speaking with the contractor, they said that well no it would not automatically do this, you need to run a Lync PowerShell to have it switch over.
    My BS radar went off, but I wanted to ask you if this sounds right or is possible.
    If it must be done, could you give me the power shell command.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Did you solve the issue with the help of the people above provided?
    If you use a Lync server Enterprise edition, it is recommended to deploy at least three FE servers.
    If you use two Lync server Standard edition for DR,
    when one of the servers fails in the Pool Pair, the administrator need to manually failover the pool to the other member of the Pool Pair using the
    command: Invoke-CsPoolFailover -PoolFQDN <Pool1 FQDN> -DisasterMode -Verbose
    The Automatic failover and failback for
    Voice option and the associated time intervals in Topology Builder apply only to the voice resiliency features that were introduced in Lync Server 2010. Selecting this option does not imply that the pool failover discussed in this document is automatic.
    Pool failover and failback always require an administrator to manually invoke the failover and failback.
    You can refer to the link below about how to failover a pool:

    Does it help, yes and no.  FYI, we are running Enterprise Edition front ends for our single pool.  The new environment was setup as a proof of concept and we installed the bare minimum # of servers at the time.
    The articles suggested from above pretty much just say if one of your FE's goes down, bring it back up as soon as possible.  Both of our FE's need windows updates applied ASAP and it could an hour or more (likely).  Here is a quote from the article:
    If for some reason you need to bring both servers down at the same time, do the following when the downtime for the pool is finished:
    The best practice is to restart both Front End Servers at the same time.
    If the two servers cannot be restarted at the same time, you should bring them back up in the reverse order of the order they went down.
    If you cannot bring them back up in that order, then use the following cmdlet before bringing the pool back up:
    Reset-CsPoolRegistrarState -ResetType QuorumLossRecovery -PoolFQDN <FQDN>
    The last time the main FE went down for service, we left the secondary FE on but there was still an outage.  Then brought back the formerly active FE fist and service was restored.  Basically I need to know how to switch the passive to the active
    node before/while the primary is offline.  And if required once both FE's are back up, to switch the service from the secondary that became active, back to the primary server as it was before.  Make sense?  Perhaps I'm still missing something
    after reading the articles.  The powershell commands list just updating the topology after both servers come back online.

  • Exchange 2013 CU5 , Exchange Power Shell very very very slow reasponse when using get command.

    Exchange 2013 CU5 , Exchange Power Shell very very very slow reasponse when using get command.
    First my organize has Exchange on 2 site like
    site A (internet facing) : 2CAS 2 MB all are Services pack1
    site B (DR Site , no user active on this site) : 2CAS 2MB all are Services pack 1
    so today I upgrade Exchange 2013 from SP1 to CU5 start on "site B" and I found this issue and the details is....
    When I open EMS on any CU5 for query something (like get-mailboxdatabasecopystatus) the response return very slow and some query will not return at all (like get-owavirtualdirectory).
    But If I using EMS on SP1. Everything is ok then I try to use EMS on SP1 connect to CU5 and try to query something. the result is
    some query command cannot return for any result that are server on siteB (just some query command)
    Problem
    EMS on CU5 return very slow result.
    EMS on SP1 still ok.
    Does anyone face this problem before for CU5??? Please help me figure this out. Thank you
    reply from Social.technet

    Hi,
    Have you used the above cmdlets to check your Exchange server health?
    "all other command that I ran on EMS didn't logged on event viewer.", my environment is the same with you. I use Exchange 2013, only errors will be displayed in MSExchange Management. Actually, it is not related to slow EMS response.
    Hope it helps.

  • Trying to run program off network location using GPO with Power shell script.

    Hello All,
    Not much of a script writer. I am giving it a shot.  My issue is that I need to run a application update across our network and I am trying to do it with as little hands on as possible. So I was planning to push a GPO with a power shell script in it
    to run the program with elevated privileges.
    Little background:
    We are running on a domain and end users do not have admin rights.
    The application is stored on a share on our network that is open to all domain users.
    The installer user name and password is a temp one and will only be valid for the 30 min window when everyone logs in at the beginning of the day.
    So this is what I have so far.
    $username = "USER"
    $password = "PASSWORD"
    $credentials = New-Object System.Management.Automation.PSCredential -ArgumentList @($username,(ConvertTo-SecureString -String $password -AsPlainText -Force))
    Start-Process PSQLv11Patch_Client_x86.msp -Credential ($credentials) -WorkingDirectory \\Server\Folder\Folder1\Folder2\filder3\PSQLv11sp3_x32\
    But for some reason I keep getting :
    Start-Process : This command cannot be run due to the error: The system cannot find the file specified.
    At line:10 char:1
    + Start-Process PSQLv11Patch_Client_x86.msp -Credential ($credentials) -WorkingDir ...

        + CategoryInfo          : InvalidOperation: (:) [Start-Process], InvalidOperationException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : InvalidOperationException,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.StartProcessCommand
    Any help you could give would be great.
    Thanks,
    jdfmonkey

    Hi jdfmonkey,
    Has anyone provided an answer to your original question?  I am trying to use Start-Process to launch a process using another logged in user's credentials, and am not able to get it working:
    $cred=Get-Credential
    start-process Process.exe-WorkingDirectoryC:\Scripts-Credential$cred
    I get the same error that you mentioned:
    start-process : This command cannot be run due to the error: The system cannot find the file specified.
    At C:\Scripts\Process.ps1:2 char:1
    + start-process Process.exe -WorkingDirectory C:\Scripts -Credential ...

        + CategoryInfo          : InvalidOperation: (:) [Start-Process], InvalidOperationException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : InvalidOperationException,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.StartProcessCommand
    When I leave off the credentials:
    start-processProcess.exe-WorkingDirectoryC:\Scripts
    It works correctly.  Does anyone have a solution to make this work correctly?
    Please ask your own question.  You issue is nothing like the current thread.  You clearly are using a user account that has no access to the folder.  It is a permissions issue.  It is not a scripting issue.
    If you need further help please start your own question.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Hi,
    What's your version of SCCM? I ran this command line on SCCM 2012 R2 CU2.
    It seems SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 fixed New-CMGlobalCondition cmdlet issue.
