Windows system files deleted on oracle host

hi experts,
i have an issue regarding oracle database on windows XP... one of my client is using oracle 9.0.1.0
he used it for 5 years having no problem at all, but couple of days before, he installed internet connection on the oracle host, and soon after he start using internet, some OS files get corrupted with virus. he scan the machine with anti virus software, but his luck was really very bad, while scanning power goes off and server faces abnormal shutdown.
after restarting server, he found that oracle is not getting open and some programs also fails to run. no error stack was generated though. i think some files which are corrupted with virus might got deleted with anti virus scan.
these files don't belongs to oracle but to operating system (system 32) folder.now, when we are trying to access oracle we have to navigate to $ORACLE_HOME/ora90/BIN directory even to obtain LSNRCTL prompt and to perform any activity.
when we try to connect to database as sysdba it says "ORA- 12203: TNS unable to connect destination".
i tried listener.ora,tnsmnames.ora file but they are ok. all the oracle directory structure is intact and ORACLE_HOME is set to c:\oracle\ora90\
i even tried to recreate instance and tried starting database, but no luck...services in control panel are started.
what else i should be looking for????? can anyone suggest some solutions???
it will be really appreciable..
thanks and regards
VD

Hello,
+1. first time "ORA-12203 unable to connect destination:"+
Make sure you have correct entries for Host in listener.ora and tnsnames.ora. What is your machine name? Post your tnsnames.ora and listener.ora entries.
What does your alert.log says?
+2. second time invalid username/password+
+3. another time after entering username it dosent ask for password and hangs.....for long+
Did you try following command
C:>sqlplus "/as sysdba' --> OS authenticaiton.
{code}
listener is up and oracle service<sid> is also up...
+it is not allowing me to start DBCA either.....do i need to reinstall oracle software, create instance, with existing pfile?? can we specisy pfile=<path> in oradim command???+
h4. If you have choice of re-install and recreate instance,  then I think you should go with it as this way it will be faster to get going.
h4. But if you just want to install software then shutdown instance and listener and re-install same version and try it to bring it up.

Okay, i have 2 bugs with maverick.  First, when I delete a file within a window, the files deletes but the preview doesn't delete until I close the window and reopen it.  Second, I work on a network of computers and the search feature is now buggy...  When I search for a file, A) it asks me if it's a name, or it wont produce anything, and B), its slower than in prior OS versions and in some instances I have to toggle to a different directory and go back to my original directory in the search: menu bar or the search wont produce anything...  Very buggy.

It appears to me that network file access is buggy in Maverick.
In my case I have a USB Drive attached to airport extreme (new model) and when I open folders on that drive they all appear empty. If I right click and I select get info after a few minutes! I get a list of the content.
It makes impossible navigate a directory tree.
File access has been trashed in Maverick.
They have improved (read broken) Finder. I need to manage a way to downgrade to Lion again.

  • T40 missing or corrupted \windows\system file after recovery process

My T40 Thinkpad had a corrupt drive so I secured the recovery disks from IBM to rebuild the hard disk.  The recovery process seemed to work well, but when completed and prompted to remove all disks and reboot, the system booted and failed before Windows XP loaded with an error message that the windows\system file was corrupt or missing.  Any recommendations on how to succesfully recover?  Thanks.

boot off the WinXP Disc and run a repair.  Did it mention the boot.ini file being corrupt, or something else?

    BufferedWriter writer = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(bootIni))It throws a
    java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\boot.ini (Access is denied)I tried

Did you have it open in another editor when you did that?No I didn't.
I found what caused this problem though :
If "Hidden" is ticked on in the file's properties, then for some reason Java doesn't let me write it.
I can't find a method which sets the file (un)hidden.

  • T400: System Update = Corrupt windows system files

I have tried to make a fresh Windows 7 installation, but after installing updates via Lenovo System Update the system gets corrupt.
I replaced the hard drive on an T400 and loaded a image that I had on to the drive.
After a installing a few updates and program I noticed strange system beaver. So I did a system file check and it came back that files was corrupt and cold not be repaired.
So I did a new fresh Windows install. But it to became corrupt after just running Windows Update and Lenovo System Update.
So I ran some hard drive and memory diagnostic without find and problems.
Then I did a new Windows 7 install again. After I installed all recommended updates from Windows Update I did a system file check, all OK. The I installed Lenovo System Update and all its recommended updates and did a new system file check, Windows system files corrupt.
Any one exercising similar problem or have any Ideas what Lenovo update is destroying the system?

Are you sure you have a sound/healthy installation media?
I have Win7 Ultimate in three T400, a T400s, (plus three T500, two W500 and two X200s, just to name the Thinkpads of the same generation). Never had a problem with Lenovo System Update.
But in my case I first install PowerManagement only, then run Windows Update until Windows is fully updated and as a final step I run Lenovo System update. Worked as a charm so far...

  • System file deletion to boot in Lion?

What I would like to know is what system file can I delete from the system when booted from another partition so I can boot up in Lion.
Lion locked up when I had ten applications open with a multiple windows and I had to do a HARD SHUT DOWN.
Now every time i try to boot into Lion it tries to reopen all the apps and windows and locks up again.
There must be an "com.apple." file that has this information in it.
I'm now booting from my Snow Leopard partition and need to fix Lion from here.

  • Some Virus Files that been created inside the Windows system file folder and System32 sytem file folder

I have here some copies of the files that I have retrieve inside the Windows folder and System32 system file folder. This files was created by a virus or some malware of some sort. Please take a closer look at thsi becasue this virus doesnt have a visible
events or something that you see at your screen to get you worried or to let you know that there is something bad happening on your system. I just cant get a copy of the virus file that is in a usb or a mass storage device of many students here in my internet
shop. And I'm worried even thou it does not do anything visible, I'm worried that it might made some security holes or privacy leaks that I can't seem to see it. Can't find the main program if it has one, because deleting the files seems to work but if my
computer plugs an infected usb device again the files comes back even thou the main virus file inside the usb device has been block and deleted by Avast, the files still is being created by some program of some sort inside the system, maybe it is already inside
the system or maybe not because the files will only be created if an infected usb device has been plug in even thou Avast has already detected the main .fat file inside the usb device still the files are created. I'm guessing this virus didn't penetrate the
system because full system scan came out clean twice. Boot time scan and start-up scan all users and all loaded to memory files also came out clean, but the files was already deleted before the scan so I don't know for sure of the result if these files were
scan. I just want to know why these files penetrated the Windows system folder even if my UAC is active, how come this virus has gain access to the system folder and bypassing the UAC, DEP and my Windows Defender. And also I'm gonna post in Avast forums about
    this too.

  • Firefox 26.0 update corrupts windows system files

I updated firefox mid-December 2013 on a pc running Windows 7. Everything was fine until I shut down. Windows would not start. Safe mode would not start. We eventually found that there were corrupt system files. We fixed those, uninstalled the firefox update and everything was fine. At that time I was not certain firefox was the source of the problem because I had installed other updates and programs.
I just updated to firefox 26.0 (no other changes made), shut down, and couldn't launch windows. Uninstalled the update and fixing my sytem again.

    Hello,
Can you please try doing a complete clean re-installation of Firefox latest version.
Simply uninstall your Firefox and then perform a Full virus and Malware scan on your system.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • File deleted from /oracle/ZPQ/sapdata2/undo_1

    Hi,
I have deleted the undo.data1 from the path /oracle/ZPQ/sapdata2/undo_1.
However, we created a new tablespace and some losses were covered.
But, now we are not able to create project from the DTR. Whenever we try to do so, an error is shown 'internal VFS error' and a project is created with some changes lost in the code.
In the DTR logs, some statement is there like ' not able to locate undo.data1 file '.
it seems af if both the DTR and CBS have gone out of sync and we are also not able to create a new track with the latest backup of .sca Software Components.
Please advise how to handle this situation.

  • System file is missing on my Satellite A60

My Toshiba A6O is buggered! It keeps saying that the Windows SYSTEM file is missing so I reformat and it still says it??s missing! What can I do, because it won??t actually start up properly! The nearest I get is to a screen saying about starting in safe mode/other modes!
    Cheers!
    Spencer

    Hi Spencer,
I presume that you gave tried to re-install your system from the recovery CDs. If so then the system should boot correctly. If it does not and it still reports a missing SYSTEM file then I think your hard drive may be suspect.
If you can boot the unit into 'SAFE' mode try running a check of the hard drive to see if it reports any bad sectors.

  • System File Checker -Cannot fix corrupt files

How practical do you consider the various measures to replace / resolve corrupt files are?
My feeling is that the simplest solution is to do a repair install or clean install of the operating system. This would include where appropriate an In place Upgrade, restore to factory settings or to restore a system image.
    What do you think?
    Hope this helps, Gerry

    Hi Gerry,
System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. OF course, this may not resolve all problem.
Repair install, clean install, restore to factory etc have their own function on recovering the operating system. It depends on your exact issue.

  • Can core system files be encrypted?

Does anyone know what would happen if you took a brand new Windows 7 Pro OS and after installing all critical updates and setting up all customizations, a person used EFS (Encrypting File System) and encrypted core system files? I've read about Windows File
Protection (WFP) which prevents programs from replacing critical Windows system files, but  this tool depends on the files sitting in a cache. So why not encrypt the system files as an alternative.
*In this scenario I'm only thinking of a single user who still has access to the internet.

Yes you can encrypt all files and folders along with windows file using a 3rd part application. you can google for specific applications.
