Winxp skin on swt apps

To run an swt app with the winxp skin you need a manifest file, java.exe.manifest, for the launching jvm. how can i do this through a web start launch?

Your answer is slightly not correct regarding a JWS deployment on a client. A normal deployment user won't be able to change or do this... :-)
Anyone has figured out how to manage this via Webstart directly?!?
An approach would be to repackage the SWT-App with an own EXE-File-Wrapper?!

  • Compiling tuxguitar (or generally java/swt apps)

I can't compile tuxguitar . It uses java and SWT and I have installed both. It gave me 100 errors about undefined references. At closer inspection I found that swt isn't placed with the java package in /opt, but in /usr instead (which is what I prefer, but that's not the point..). I tried exporting swt's /usr path to CLASSPATH, but it didn't help (of cource I could have done it wrong ).
I wonder if anyone else has problems with compiling swt apps?

My [timefinder application|http://timefinder.sourceforge.net/] would benefit a lot from JavaFX!
See my current requirements for a planner UI which could manage a lot of persons or rooms - this would be possible with the NetBeans graph library, too, but JavaFX seems to be a bit more easier to me. Especially because of the great binding.

  • GUI Scripting Java SWT apps

    Hi,
It doesn't appear that the GUI scripting works with Java SWT apps (eclipse, etc). Is there any way to get this to work?
    Thanks,
    George

Explorer it with PreFab UIBrowser see if it got any GUI element, if not out of luck. I don't have any Java SWT so I have no way to test my idea. But that where I would start.

  • SWT app to .jar problems

    hi everybody,
I'm totally new in the java world and i've written my first java app last day:)
I was very proud but when i want to compile the program i ran in to some problems!
The system consists out of two separate layers.
In the main class i've made the interface (SWT) and there are some other classes that are doing the real work.
I've compiled the whole program with the SWT interface but it won't work!
But when i compile the classes that are doing the real work and write a small class that calls the other classes it works!
So the problem is the SWT but I can't solve it!
    Some errors i've got :
java -classpath .;swt.jar -Djava.library.path=swt-win32-3346.dll -jar comp
    ile.jar
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/eclipse/swt/widge
    ts/Composite
    and the succeeded built :
    java -jar test.jar

for windows, only for non-plug-in projects
Making a jar file from SWT project, in Eclipse:
    1. Create one manifest file in project with following contents:
         Manifest-Version: 1.0
         Class-path: swt.jar
         Main-class: package.MainClass
    2. Export jar file with this manifest file
    a) Right-click on project
    b) Selection Export
    c) Select Java and Jar file
    d) Select the project, classpath and file project
    e) In jar file textbox enter the name for jar file and select options: "Exports generated class files and resources" and "Compress the content of the jar file"
    f) Press Next button
    g) Press Next button
    h) Select "Use existing manifest from workspace" and select the manifest file which you has created
    i) Press Finish button
    3. Put togheter the jar file and swt.jar

  • Charging and the annoying lights, skins, and java apps...

So, as you all may know... When you plug in this phone to charge it, the rave-ready lights start pulsating away on the sides of the phone. For someone that sleeps with thier phone on the nightstand next to them, this is totaly annoying. I contacted Motorola about this to try to find a way to shut them off (while charging). They said 'No', this is just the way the phone is. My wife is about to throw this thing accross the room at night. If you think the lights aren't bright, try it in pitch black... it blinks the whole room. I don't want to have to put a shirt over something i paid this much for. Anyway, just in case anyone else wondered about that, that was as far as i got.
So there is a lot that can be done with this phone via bluetooth. I'm just figuring a lot of it out now. Since the base firmware is pretty much a duplicate of the e398 most all java games and applications that worked with that phone work with this one. I fould an older application that works with bluetooth to install free games and applications (finding them on the internet isn't too difficult) with no hassle, totally easy. If anyone wants to know more about that they can email me off the list, becuase i don't know if apple wan't that sort of thing discussed here. Who knows.
One thing I haven't been able to figure out it how to change the skins. You can do it with a pc pretty easily i think, with the same application that you did it to change skins on the e398. But as a mac user, it's been a little tougher to figure out. When you plug the phone into the computer there are a whole lot of folders in there. I didn't know if i could drop new skins somewhere and they would show up in the skins options. I've tried a couple different folders with new skins to no avail.
I guess i'll talk more about my regular experiences with the phone later, but i will say, a lot of plusses, and a couple negatives. Take care, and thanks to all

    Saving your marrriage:
you obviously haven't had a sony-ericsson phone eg se 910- this has green and blue leds that blink all the time and you can't shut it off BUT with the rokr your wife doesn't have to put up with it!
Ignore motorola support; all you need to do is go Menu, Settings, Ring Styles (Audio on Cingular phones), Event Lights and change to Off. It will no longer flash green when charging, blue when bluetooth activity etc.
At least that option is on standard rokr - I hope cingular haven't removed that option.

  • Gnumake.exe for WinXP Install of Oracle Apps

I'm in the final stages of an installation on XP and need to get a copy of gnumake.exe. The version that's available online requires a specific WinZip utility. Hi,
When I ran Rapidwiz, in the prerequisite check , everything went through except for "GNUMAKE is unavailable" error.
Pls let me know if I am missing any step in GNU Make Installation
    1] Extracted the file Make3.78.1
2] have copied the file to c:\GNUMAKE\Make3.78.1
3] Ran the VCVARS32.bat file in VC++2005 Express Edition
4] After that ran the build_w32.bat file. Immediately after the cmd file got closed without any message
5] I see that there are 2 folders WinDebug and winRel created but there are no files in it.
Pls let me know if I am missing naything......I have installed CYGWIN not MKS toolkit.

  • My app works in IDE but not when packaged as a JAR, advice please?

    Hello,
I've written my application which seems to work perfectly in my IDE, however when I package the application into a JAR, the JavaVM isn't happy with it. When executed, the JVM crashes somewhere early in my program (I'm guessing when it's loading resources) and I get a nice crash dialog from my OS describing some low level stuff.
So my reason for posting is to gather some advice or guidance on how to tackle this. Is there a simple way to debug a program when it's in JAR form?
Any comments will be welcomed! Thanks.

Those links you posted proved very useful. Using OS dumps a log file which points out an offending library. After a bit of googling, I manage to found out that it was coming from the SWT framework which my app is built on. I've written tons of SWT apps before but I've no idea why this one get upset when I run it?
I've since took the time to compile and run a Windows & Linux version and they both work perfectly.
Thanks for the help on this and judging my current situation I think it would be best to speak to the Eclipse/SWT people as this problem has gone slightly 'off-topic' :)

  • Flex skins - compile time or not?

Hi there, I am sorry if this seems like too simple of a
question, but I have searched around and I don't even know if I am
looking for the right words to ask this with. Put as simply as
possible, if I am developing a skin for an application that we will
then give to our customers, will they have to recompile the app in
order to change the skin or will they have the ability to put a new
skin into the app after it has been compiled and released? Is the
skin embedded in the app or is it held separately? Is there a
difference between using graphical vs. programmatic skins at
compile time? Thanks for any help you can give me, and Happy New
    Year!

The application can use a compiled CSS file and load it at
runtime, but the app must be set up to use it before it is
compiled. Then you can swap out the swf with a new one and it will
work as long as all the style names and style assignments are the
same as the old one. You cannot add a swf with skins to an existing
app without setting it up first and compiling the app.

  • Skinning; Best Practices & Tools? (Newbie)

I'm something less than a newbie so I may not be asking this correctly... I am NOT a Java programmer.
This may be slightly off-topic for this forum, but I think this is the best group for this question.
I am looking for best practices and tools recommendations for skinning a Java app or game. I need to learn all I can about the steps, tools and potential pitfalls.
I've got great graphic designers who can make the GUI for me. Now I just need to know my steps for applying it and what I need to watch out for.
Thanks for any help; links, comments, titles, etc.

The Skin Look and Feel seems to be designed for desktop applications, and uses KDE and Gnome skins from X. This would be an awkward if not impossible way of skinning a game IMO. I'm interested in any other solutions out there.

  • EXE for SWT

I now there are commerically available software to convert
or enable you java app to an EXE is there an open source one/free one?

Never mind thx I found an old thread with the same questions

  • Safari embedded in SWT

    Hello everyone,
we are developing a eclipse SWT app with a browser widget for mac.
we found that the embedded browser cannot access any flash content as if Flash Player is not installed.
As I know SWT use safari as the rendering engine on mac and I tried to open site with flash content with a standalone safari and it works fine. So I am sure I have flash player for safari installed.
    My environment is
    Mac OS X (10.5.7)
    Safari 4.0.1
    Flash Player 10
    JVM 1.6
    Eclipse SWT 3.5 cocoa x86_64
    Does anyone has a hint?
Any input is appreciated. Thank you.

I have never had this problem, but I can tell you from years of designing websites, your colors will shift from pc to pc. This is primarly based on the users graphic card. You can adjust your gamma with QT filters when exporting.
Also IE is a POS. I do not know how you embed your .mov but I recommend using javascript ( check out apple development ).
I do not think you can achieve continuity on every machine. Try to get as close as possible and forget about it.
Also there is a check box in QT Pro that deals with gamma shift and Final Cut.
