Wireless not working for my Netgear router
i have had my iBook G3 for about 3 years now and the wireless has worked fine up untill a few weeks ago when i moved up to Santa Barbara for school. We have a NetGear wireless router in the houes with one pc hooked up to it and 2 laptops that have wireless. my iBook is the only laptop that will not connect to the Netgear. we have a password on the wireless and when i put it in it says "there was an error joining the selected AirPort network." I know the Wireless is working fine on my computer because when i take it to school it will pick up the wireless and work fine there. is there someone that can please help me?

You've posted in the "Using your PowerBook G4 15-inch Aluminum" forum area. You might be better posting in a forum area that deals with Internet and Networking. However, you need to make sure the router accepts your wireless b signal and you've typed in the correct password (to the letter - upper and lower).

try to staind near by to your router and see you can find your router in your phone if you able to find your router wifi singnals near by then
use these steps
for Wireless Issue
try these steps to check internet connectivity of your laptop, desktop or phone
go to RUN type cmd
a black window will pop up
type there ping www.google.com -t (ping space www.google.com space -t)
if you can ping the google then you are connected to internet if its not pinging to google then chk your router connectivity
Try these steps to check connctivity with router
go to RUN type cmd
black pop window will open
type there ipconfig /all
there you will get an IP address assigned to your wifi network adaptor

You have to ping your gateway it could be 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or something etc.
go to RUN tye cmd type there ping 192.168.xxx.xxx -t ( ping space 192.168.xxx.xxx space -t)
as you can see mine is 172.90.91.1 and i am pinging it.
if you are getting pings with time=1 ms then you are getting good strength
or your ping time is between 1 ot 99 then its ok if its 100 or above then you will get problem surfing internet.
if need any help ask it..
if you are not getting your router wifi signals while standing near by to your router then porblem could be your router, may be wireless is disabled or something else,
try to reconfigure your router.

M177fw wireless not working for scanner only-have same printer in second location
I have this exact same MFP laserjet in another location that works perfectly over the wifi network. I just purchased the same printer for a second physical location and installed it. I gave the new printer a different name when I installed the device. Printing over wifi works perfectly from two laptops. The copy function works perfectly. I cannot get the scanner to work at the new location from either laptop.
When I installed the software on one of the laptops, I got a message that the driver was already present and suggested I use the existing version already installed. So I used the already installed software. For this laptop, I have a shortcut from the start menu called HP Scan. At the original location, this works fine over wifi. For the new printer at the new location, when I start HP Scan from either the HP folder or the shortcut, I get a box titled "Scanner Unreachable. Scanner communication cannot be established..." and suggests updating the IP address. I looked at the printer configuration and the ip address is correct.
I reset the printer to the factory settings, rebooted the modem and configured the printer again, hoping that the correct IP address would populate correctly, but I have the same problem. So my questions are:
-Is it likely that the IP address is the problem for the scanner and how do I fix it?
-If it is the IP address, what can I do to not have to manually change it each time I go to a different location?
-If not, what is the likely problem? What can I do to fix it?Hi,
As you mention "When I installed the software on one of the laptops, I got a message that the driver was already present and suggested I use the existing version already installed.", such a message is common for adding a printer from the Windows Add a Printer wizard, may you added it by clicking add printer under Devices and Printers?
If so, that may explain the issue as the printer should be added via the HP Software for the HP Scan to operate.
Be sure to remove the newly added device first by right clicking it and selecting Remove Device, then reboot your PC.
From the Start menu select HP and open the printer folder. then select Reconfigure your HP device.
Follow the steps on screen to add the printer on your current location and check if that may help,

My Airport wireless is working for my two MacBook Pros and my daughter's iPod, but our iPad, Iphone and other iPod all say they need to set up an Airport Base Station but do not have the proper software. I'm not sure what to do to remedy this situation.
This might sound like a silly question, but are you sure the iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch etc.) are still trying to connect to the same network from your own Airport router, as the MacBook Pros are? If you tap Settings on them, is the network name next to where it says Wi-Fi, the right one?
I've got a weird feeling that either in the past couple of days, a neighbour got an Airport device and hasn't set it up yet (causing your iOS devices to try to help), or that perhaps there's an issue with your Airport router and they're noticing it and trying to help out, while for whatever reason, Airport Utility isn't opening itself on the MacBook Pros like it normally should if there's a problem.
If you open Airport Utility on one of the MacBook Pros, does it report any problems with your Airport device, and can you view/edit the settings on it? -

Generally and at times we all have little idiosyncrasies appearing with the running of our Macs.
I use the same Logitech BT with my MBP. MB & iBook..(not at the same time) Only ever had one issue
and the cure was to completely Delete the mouse from BT -> Repair Permissions & Reboot then Re Install the BT mouse..Ihave just put a new set of batteries in the Logitech (only 2nd set ever)...L -
DNS not working for some computers
We have a SRP521W router and is set up with one SSID for wireless. In our office all the computers (5) can connect but only some may get on the internet. I have a laptop I am testing with and it will not connect, wired or wireless.
I found an article relating to flushing DNS, tried that, no luck.
I found another that said I should try setting my DNS to 208.67.222.222 and this worked, internet works fine.
I tried rebooting the DSL modem and router, tried many different things but am not a networking guru so I am just not sure why the DNS is not working for one computer but works for another, connected to same LAN or SSID.

BradThough what Don posted is one way to accomplish it, I never add anything to my DNS and it works fine. Windows DNS, in a default installation, will automatically forward to the root (.com, .edu, .gov, etc.). So I always just point my workstations
to my Domain Controller as their DNS and everything works just fine without any additional configuration.
Guess I'm one of those who won't even trust Google for sharing a DNS, particularly when I have never needed to set up any forwarders.

Out of office replies in Exchange 2013 not working for external recipients

Few days ago a couple of company workers went to vacation. They set up OOF automatic replies in OWA 2013. However automatic replies are not working for external recipients (outside of company). Internal users (company users) receive OOF notification.
I'm using smart host in sender connector configuration (SMTP server of internet provider) to deliver emails. Any clues about this problem ? Please find below part of the transaction log. For testing purposes i set up administrator account

U430 Touch: wireless not working with windows 7
My friend bought a U430 Touch with Windows 8. He hated Win 8 so I helped him downgrade to Win 7. Now the wireless dowsn't work. Ethernet works fine and we are able to get on the internet, but wireless does not work at all. I've been to Lenovo's site and downloaded the drivers from their support site, but nothing weems to work. Is there a special driver I'm missing?

Loving the new W520... very fast, if only the wireless would work. Unable to get wireless interface functioning, won't even show up in ifconfig. I've appended requested wireless information, thanks in advance for any assistance.

I was looking into the issue you are desribing, and found a great article for troubleshooting wifi connections with iOS devices. It's called iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections and can be found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398.
Start with this section, and work your way down if needed.
Basic troubleshooting
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and then on again.
Verify that you are in range of your Wi-Fi router or base station.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and Cable/DSL modem are connected to power and turned on.
Check whether other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware.For AirPort Base Stations, refer to this article for information about firmware updates. For third-party Wi-Fi routers, check the manufacturer's website for details on updating your firmware.
Restart your iOS deviceHold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.

This is not working for me. I tried the Windows 7 Resolution steps multiple times to no avail. Please help. I am obviously connected to the internet (as is iTunes Store).
I am connected to the internet through a Verizon Wireless card, that is my regular internet connection.I did all that HT1925 recommended and it was no help. My computer still won't recognize my iPhone. Often trying to start Apple Mobile Device Service fails with an error message that it starts and then stops immediately.

Tap on the event to open the event. Click the 'Edit' button in the event bubble, then press the 'Delete Event' button at the bottom of the Edit pop-up. It's a little different for events that come through Microsoft Exchange, you tap the event to bring up bubble and click the 'Details' button, and then press 'Decline' to remove the event.

IPhone 6 External Mic not working for Siri/Dictation
I am finding that the external mic on my iPhone 6 works for phone calls and voice memos, but does not work for Siri/Dictation. When I plug in the earbuds, they work for everything (including Siri/Dictation).
Was chatting to Apple support who had me reset all settings. I thought that worked, but realized that after a reset, Siri is off and I was talking to "Voice control" (which works). When I turned Siri back on, it does not work.
I have two questions for the community to see if you can help:
1- I have been assuming this must be a software problem since the mic does work for non-Siri access. But is that true? Is there a hardware component that Siri depends on which could be faulty here?
2- If it is software, what action should I try to address it? I have done a reset all settings already and that did not help.

I talked to Apple Genius at Apple Store last week, she said it should be a software issue and I needed to reset my iphone 6 plus as a new device and I can not use the backup restore from my iCloud, it was because the microphone bug or glitch can be in the backup also. Ok, followed her advice, erased all contents and set my iphone as a new device , the microphone worked for an hour, but went bad again. I used "voice memo" app from Apple to test the microphone. It is the best tool since it doesn't involve any provider's network and it doesn't need another person's phone to listen and test. If you can hear your voice recording clearly, then the mic works. I tested it 3-4 times a day for a few days now, half of the time the mic doesn't work. So, set as a new device isn't working. The issue is intermittent and it comes and goes as it likes, so very annoying. I carry my Apple EarPods with me in these past few days ust in case I need to make important phone calls. Will need to go back to Apple Genius this weekend for sure. Will give update after the weekend.

You didn't mention what country your Online Number is in. Not all of Skype's Online Numbers are eligible for use as Caller ID when calling telephones or sending SMS messages. If your number is from one of these countries (Chile, Denmark, Estonia, Hong Kong, Poland, Sweden, the UK and the US), then it can be used this way. Otherwise, you can use a mobile number from countries other than Japan or Mexico as Caller ID with Skype, after the number goes through a verification process where Skype sends SMS messages with codes to that number.
To get to these settings, log into your Skype account here on the Skype web site using the "Account" link at the top of this page. You'll see a screen that would include your current Caller ID settings, and a link to change that. If your Online Number is from one of those countries I referenced above, just select it and you're done.
