Wireless Printers No Longer Connect after BT Infi...

Hi all,
I have a very strange issue - a friend of mine has 3 wireless printers installed at home and used to have a BT home Hub 2.0.  They all connected wirelessly without issue and he could print from any computer in the house with the software on.
Last week he had BT infinity fitted and a new home hub supplied.....he then found he could not connect to his printers and asked me to take a look......I firstly uninstalled all his printer software and went through the installation process again.  While all 3 printers are wireless, 2 connect independantly (via printer console) and one needs to be connected to the computer to undertake wireless conection and set up.
I installed the 2 printers that could connect wirelessly withouth needing to connect to the PC - I checked the home hub settings and both printers can be seen as connected.  I then installed the software to the computer and when they were trying to "find printer" on the "connect wirelessly" page - it kept saying that it could not find the printer or it could not connect to the printer.
I thought it may be the computer with the issue so I tried on 2 other computers including my own windows 7 laptop, but while I could see the printer as connected while on the home hub page, I was unable to access the printer when setting up.
I spent 30 minutes with a technical guy who admitted he did not know the settings for the router and told me to try and switch off the firewall on the router! - I did, it did not work so I swtiched it back on!
I suspect it is a simple setting issue although seeing the issues online I now have my doubts and wondered if anyone here had an idea before he has to pay for help -
Thanks in advance

Hello,
Diver9, do you have any more information on the actual problem.
When you are unable to print:
1: Can you ping the static IP addresses?
2: What do the printers network status pages state?
3: What channel has the Homehub selected? Have you tried fixing the channel to an unused channel (as found by inssider?)
4: Does the homehub still think the printers are connected? (http://192.168.1.254->Home Network-><Device>)
I know it is a hassle troubleshooting, but it's sensible to find out what has actually gone wrong. Your experience may help someone in the future or give BT something to look at improving in the next firmware. For example, listing the model of each printer in this post might help. The more information the better.
I have used a network printer with v1, v1.5, v2a and v3 of the homehub family and haven't experienced any printing problems. I appreciate that I might just be lucky, but your information might help someone.

  • Wifi no longer connecting after startup

wifi no longer connecting after startup... so I have to connect manually... started after 10.7.3
    any ideas

Which computer are you experiencing this on?
There are several threads dealing with (mostly) iMacs + bluetooth keyboards/mice and issues with WiFi no longer automatically connecting. There seems to be some issue that 10.7.3 introduces with these series of macs.
No Apple provided solutions yet, but several workarounds: 1) attach a network cable direclty from modem/router to mac; 2) use the power button instead of mouse/keyboard to wake up mouse; 3) use USB keyboard/mouse (not personally confirmed); use airport extreme/express as a bridge.
Right now it's a waiting game until Apple provides another update. I do recommend going to Apple feeback: (http://www.apple.com/feedback/) and at least voicing your opinion. Calling AppleSupport will do the same, but they'll make you go through the same (likely useless) steps everyone else has done.

  • Wireless printers refusing to connect to OS 10.9

I have two wireless printers - A HP and an Epson.  Neither will connect to a Mac using OS Mavericks 10.9.  I have been told by HP that their drivers have not yet been upgraded to deal with 10.9.  The Epson support basically said the printer was working perfectly so it was not their problem.
    Anyone else have this difficulty

thanks a million for taking the time to reply.  My HP printer is a HP Officejet PRO 8500A Plus 910.   Over a two day period I spend several hours on the phone to their support people and when they finally concluded it was a problem with the printer talking to the Mac , they admitted that their own HP printer system was not up to date.
I asked if they could email me and tell me when they had their software up to date and was told they could not email me, I would just have to check their website ever day.
The Epson printer is an Expression Home XP 415 (just bought) and basically after 20 minutes on the phone to their helpline they could not bring it any further.  They told me the printer was connecting perfectly to the internet (which I knew) and the computer was connecting to the internet (which I also knew) but that they could not talk to each other.  They just left it there and said they could not help further.
I suspect, however, that after my HP experience the Epson problem is exactly the same.  Everything seems to be linked to upgrading to OS Mavericks 10.9.
Thanks again for the link to the site.  HP never mentioned it.  Will try that now.

  • Canon MX340 wireless printer no longer connecting over wireless and coming up with "a communications error has occured"

I have a Canon MX340 wireless printer and have only recently started having trouble printing over the wireless connection. No settings have changed on my MacBook Pro, the printer, the router or the wifi connection and it is strange how it has just stopped working. I have tried things like restarting the laptop and removing the printer from the laptop and re-adding it. It sometimes seems to work for maybe one print but then it goes back to saying "a communications error has occured", when I try to print again.
Any help would be great. Thanks

I had the same MX340 problem.  My printer was working fine over WiFi connection to my Airport Extreme for years and then suddenly, about a month ago, it stopped printing after the first print job.  I can print once and then I have to power-cycle the printer to get it to print another time and then I have to repeat the power-cycle.
The printer seems to be "forgotten" by the network or lose its connection after the first print job.
On my MacBookPro 10.6.8 I get the error code 300...yadayadayad... On my iMac 10.5.8 it just says :communications error".
HERE IS THE FIX - I got it off this link - http://www.techsurvivors.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=24681
You have to connect to the MX340 using the printer cable that came with the printer (or any USB printer cable) and set up a hardwired USB printer queue.  Then print a couple of print jobs - I use TextEdit and type in "1234".  Then try the same thing but select your WiFi print queue - I just type another line on the same sheet of paper with TextEdit.
The WiFi connection should work again.  I did this a few more times and then disconnected the USB cable and now it continues to work without the USB print queue being used.  I can also print to the WiFi queue with my iMac.
If you still have problems I suggest you set up the printer again on the WiFi router using the "print cable connection" method.  Here's a link to a webpage someone kindly provided instructions for the process:

  • Remote desktop no longer connects after installing Photoshop CS3

    Hi,
Last week I downloaded and installed the Photoshop CS 3 extended trial on a PC that I regularly connect to via remote desktop. After Photoshop had finished installing, I could no longer connect to that machine (Its running Windows XP SP3) through remote desktop.
Searching on this issue has quickly brought up the fact that CS3 installs Apple's Bonjour service and that has been known to cause connectivity problems for other users. I removed Bonjour by following the guide here (http://www.x64bit.net/site/board/index.php?s=888c3f3673c453dcc972decd6e67e8e0&showtopic= 4214&st=0&p=40719&#entry40719) and reset the Winsock catalog (netsh winsock reset).
Unfortunately I still am unable to connect to that machine with remote desktop. These two machines are connected through a gigabit switch (nothing tricky at all) and it had been working flawlessly until I installed Photoshop CS3. Now when i enter the computer name in the remote desktop connection box and click "Connect", it shows activity (the colored bar moves) and then the connect button returns to its default state and nothing happens. No error messages or anything.
I have searched Apple's forums and found users on various message boards report this same issue, but none seem to have a resolution (aside from re-installing the OS, which doesn't resolve anything if you end up re-installing CS3). Is anyone familiar with this issue and found a solution? If so, I would love to hear it!
    Thanks!

I have the same exact issue right now. We purchased CS3 Master Collection and some - not all - of the machines are now refusing a RDP session. I looked in to the Bonjour service problem but it doesnt seem to be the issue. Other machines with the same service work fine.
    Anyone have an idea?
Has Adobe addressed this at all. I am aware that more than just the two of us have experienced this issue.

  • Lightstreamer no longer connects after upgrading to FF9 ?

My application uses Lightstreamer JavaScript to connect to a Lightstreamer server. Everything has been working fine. Upon upgrading my FF to version 9, the Lightstreamer connection no longer connects. All previous version of FF work fine.

  • VPN no longer connects after ios7 update

I just downloaded ios7 and my VPN will no longer connect. Any suggestions?

I had this issue last night as well.  I'm connected through ethernet and was not able to connect to any services. In fact, my home screen just showed the Computers icon and Settings icon. I also restarted the Apple TV a number of times as well as my router it is plugged into. What I found is that for some reason it was taking a little while longer to connect to the Internet. If I waited a bit it eventually connected. I checked this morning and when I turned on the Apple TV it seemed to be back to normal and connected right away.
I know that's not a real specific answer, but maybe you can go to the network setting and give it a minute to see if it eventually assigns an IP, DNS, etc.

  • AppleTV3 Ethernet no longer connects after automatic update

Just turned on the TV to find that the Apple TV is no longer connected to the Internet or LAN.
It does seem to have updated automatically and all the icons are the new iOS8 style.
If I go the Network I see no IP, no DNS.
Rebooted the device, rebooted the Mac Mini Server, unplugged the ATV3 from power and ethernet.
Nothing will fix it. Looks like the latest update kills Ethernet connectivity.
I have a local Gigabit Switch and it shows that the Ethernet port is active when I plug in the CAT6 patch cable to the ATV3, but the ATV no longer finds the LAN.
Anybody else having this issue since the automatic software update?

  • Wireless card could not connect after mother replacement

    Hi,
I just replace my lenovo T430i motherboard, everything working except Wireless card could not connect to wirelesss network. I take to the shop they replace new wireless card, but it still appear the same problem. Is there anyone having the same problem.
    Best Regards,
    Bunheng Mom

    Hello bunheng,
If you could please boot into BIOS at start-up.  On the main page this should show you your system-unit serial number, and the system board serial number. Could you check and make sure both of these fields are occupied.
    One step at a time.
    Hope this helps,
    Alex

  • Wireless printing no longer working after installing HP 2.7 update

I have been using wireless printing from my Macbook Pro (running Lion OSx 10.7.2) fine until yesterday when it just stopped working out of nowhere. From looking on the forums it appears that this is probably a result of the HP 2.7 update (which I also had the issue of continuously re-appearing in my software update list even after installing it multiple times - though i was able to resolve this courtesy of this forum). I've tried re-installing the printer multiple times and it works fine when connected via USB, it acnowledges that the printer is connected to the same wireless network as my computer bu

OK, before you dive any more into the registry, a simple question. Did you try uninstalling iTunes, rebooting, and re-installing iTunes?
I do have an entry for 'iTunes.Application.1' (below). However, I'm sure there are many more registry entries related to iTunes. In other words, adding this entry will probably not be sufficient to restore the COM functionality.

  • Wireless network will not connect after Security update 2006 06

Downloaded recent security update. Ran Disc Utility before and after. Unable to connect to my wireless network (Netgear ) which always works without a problem. After trying to connect using Internet Connection Utility I tried Key Chain First Aid and also reset the key chain. No help. Finally trashed the update packages and had to log off before it connected. Any one run into this problem and a fix? Thanks.

  • Wireless printer no longer connected with Lion

My HP Photosmart D110a multifunction printer/scanner is connected via a wireless Belkin router. Prior to upgrading to Lion, anyone on my network was able to print to it and the scanner worked fine. Since upgrading my iMac to Lion, the HP printer utility indicates that the printer is not connected. I have the latest driver and tested the connection from the printer to the router and all the reports indicate it is connected.
The other computers on the network are still able to print to the HP, but my 2011 iMac, upgraded to Lion cannot.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Davegt
With help from the HP website I just figured it out. The printer and computer needed to be connected by a USB cable. With that, I was able to run the HP Printer Setup Assistant and it, somehow, connected my iMac printer stuff to my router. When that was complete, it instructed me to disconnect the USB and now the wireless connection works.
    Thanks for trying to help.

  • Email Accounts no longer connect after software update

    Hi,
I updated to the latest software and after doing so my email accounts that do not use the BES are failing to connect.  For example, yahoo email, google email, or my service provider host email do not connect.
I have deleted those accounts, restarted the phone and attempted to reconnect to them but they all say the same thing that they server is unavailable and the account cannot be added.  Now, I could understand one of those, but all of them with the same issue??  There is something else at work here.
Since my service provider is not the issue in this case, the phone is, how can I get this corrected?
    thanks.

Ignore that advice (for now) regarding a security wipe. This user is making many off the cuff posts with, quite frankly poor advice and poorly explained suggestions.
You might first connect with your BES Admin and confirm that some IT Policy disallowed personal email accounts (you mentioned your work email on BES is working correctly, so you are obviously getting good data connections).
